When Astarion was with Tav, he was ignored. Left in camp as the other had their adventure to get rid of the tadpoles in their heads. After saving the world Astarion thought Tav would save him from Cazador, but the pale elf was wrong. He was left broken from Cazador's grip, but hunters by him every night.
