I've been having a hard time lately, and I just needed something really sweet. That's pretty much it. Also, meet my new original clone medic, Rio! He will probably appear in future fics, and I already love him. English is not my main language, so as always, I'm sorry for all mistakes. Title is from the song 'Watermelon Sugar' by Harry Styles. Enjoy!

It was late afternoon, local time. Normally they should have been on the ship, in hyperspace, on their way to Coruscant or wherever else their presence was currently needed, but General Kenobi and the 212th battalion had received no further orders after the battle had ended, so there was no rush. The fight was difficult and long, everyone was exhausted, so it was decided to leave the planet the next morning, to give the troopers the opportunity to catch their breath and recover before the inevitable return to the battlefield.

Cody and Obi-Wan, along with a group of several other troopers, decided to spend their free time exploring the village and helping the locals where they could with repairing the damage. The locals did not speak a language they understood, but their gratitude for the rescue was visible, evident even without words.

At one point, two of them, a woman and a little girl with light purple skin and just a shade darker long hair in hundreds of braids, approached the wooden hut where Cody and Obi-Wan were reattaching the broken door.

"Oh, Cody, look at that!" Obi-Wan said happily and walked over to the locals, immediately forgetting about the task and leaving Cody alone with it.

Cody sighed, shaking his head. Sometimes his General was just like Skywalker. Cody shook the dust off his hands and followed the Jedi to see what had sparked his sudden interest.

When he joined them, the woman was smiling, handing Obi-Wan a leaf the size of his hand, with several red objects placed on it. Returning the smile, Kenobi accepted the gift and bowed in an original gesture of gratitude.

"Thank you," he said. "That's really nice of you."

The little girl giggled at Cody, and before he could move, she wrapped her narrow arms around his legs, hugging him tightly.

"Oh!" Cody tensed, but then relaxed at the warmth emanating from the girl. He smiled down at her and gave her a light pat on the back. "There, there, it's alright. You're welcome."

The little girl giggled again before pulling away and grabbing her mother's hand. They both turned and walked towards the other houses to take another leaf package from a large wicker basket and give it to the next troopers.

Cody looked after them for a moment, then moved his gaze to Obi-Wan. The man was smirking.

Cody raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Getting soft there, Commander?" he teased. Cody rolled his eyes, but couldn't keep the corner of his mouth from turning upwards.

"No one will believe you anyway."

Obi-Wan huffed. Remembering his gift, he looked down at it and grinned.

"I didn't think they had them here," he said. "I almost forgot what they taste like."

Cody stepped closer and looked as well. "You eat these things?" he asked curiously.

Obi-Wan's head snapped up to look at Cody in horror, as if Cody had just grown a second head or some other extra limb.

"You don't know what strawberries are?" His eyes widened comically. "You've never eaten strawberries?"

"Um, no?" Cody shrugged. He didn't know what all the sudden fuss was about. They were at war. Ration bars didn't have that many flavors to choose from. "Is there something wrong with that?"

Obi-Wan shook his head in disbelief. "Come here," he said, grabbing Cody's sleeve. He dragged him to a bench outside the house they were helping to rebuild. He sat on it and tugged on Cody's sleeve again to make him do the same. Cody obeyed, confused.

"What are you doing?" he asked. Obi-Wan placed the leaf carefully on his lap and took one red thing in his hand, a strawberry, as it turned out.

"It's a fruit. The more intense the color, the sweeter it is. Here." He reached for Cody's hand and placed a strawberry on it. "Try it."

"Alright". Cody picked up the small fruit, but before he could bite into it, Obi-Wan grabbed his hand.

"No, wait. You need to tear off the green thing first. You only eat the red. Look."

He took the second strawberry from the leaf and tore off the green tip. Cody did the same, and then they both put strawberries in their mouths at the same time. After chewing for a while, Cody had to admit that he liked this new taste. It was indeed very sweet.

"Mmm."

"Pretty good, huh? I ate tons of them as a child. You can make a lot of different things with them. Smoothies, jams, ice cream. Oh, ice cream. When we get back to Coruscant, I'll take you out for strawberry ice cream."

"Yeah, I'd like that."

"I know a place. When I was still a padawan, my master used to take me there to cheer me up."

"Sounds nice."

Obi-Wan took two more strawberries from the leaf - he put one into his mouth and the other into Cody's. "This here is nice, too," he said and leaned in to kiss him. Cody could feel him smiling, and his own lips curved into a smile as well as he deepened the kiss.

Suddenly Kenobi pulled away, a spark in his eyes. "I'll ask them for a seedling. I'll plant it in the Temple gardens, and that way we will have strawberries all the time. Force, why didn't I think of that earlier?" Before he finished speaking, he was already walking away, holding his fruits close as if they were the greatest treasure in the world.

Cody just shook his head, smiling.

It wasn't long after, they were sitting by the lake, watching the children play carelessly, now safe and happy, and watching the sunset, when Cody noticed something was wrong with Kenobi. The man was sitting with his back to him, so Cody couldn't see his face, but he didn't miss the fact that he kept raising his hand to scratch his neck.

"Is everything alright, Obi-Wan?" he asked. Obi-Wan turned to him.

"Hm?"

Cody frowned at the sight before him and moved closer to get a better look.

"Wow. What is wrong with your neck?"

"What? What do you mean?" Obi-Wan instinctively looked down, though it was useless because he couldn't see much from this angle. He looked at Cody in confusion. "What's wrong with it?"

"You have some strange red spots on it."

"Oh. That's probably why it's so itchy." Obi-Wan raised his hand to scratch his neck again, but Cody brushed it away at the last moment.

"Don't scratch, you'll only make it worse. Are you feeling well otherwise?"

"I guess so."

"We're going to the medbay anyway."

"What? No, I already told you-" Obi-Wan began, immediately in a fighting mood at the slightest mention of the medbay, but Cody cut him off firmly.

"I don't want to hear it. Something is clearly wrong. To the medbay, now." When Obi-Wan didn't move, irritated, Cody crossed his arms over his chest. "You don't want everyone in this lovely village to see me dragging you there by force, do you?" Obi-Wan gritted his teeth, but finally got up and started walking towards their ship without another word. "Thought so," Cody snorted and followed him.

Some time later, Cody was sitting in the medbay and waiting outside the entrance to one of the examination rooms, scrolling through the messages on his datapad to keep himself occupied while he waited for Obi-Wan's examination to finish.

After a few minutes, the door opened and Cody knew it was his cue to come in, so he stood up, put his datapad down, and let himself into the room.

Obi-Wan was sitting on the bed, his legs swinging in the air. Most of the red spots were gone from his skin. It was still slightly pink in some places, but fortunately it looked more normal than it had even half an hour ago, when the spots also began to appear on his chest and forearms. The man smiled upon seeing Cody.

"Hello, Cody," Rio, the 212th's chief medic, spoke up.

"Rio." Cody shook his brother's hand in greeting and nodded towards the Jedi. "So, what has the General gotten himself into this time?"

"Well, you did the right thing by bringing him here. This is a classic case of an allergic reaction."

Cody frowned. "Allergic reaction? To what?" He turned to look at Obi-Wan. "Strawberries?"

Obi-Wan just shrugged, looking like a child who had made quite a mess but pretended they had no idea what was going on.

"I assume so, since they were the last thing the General ate," Rio said.

Cody spread his arms helplessly, turning back to Obi-Wan.

"You ate strawberries even though you're allergic to them? Are you crazy?!"

"Hey, it's not my fault, I didn't know I was allergic to them!" Kenobi protested. "I've never had anything like that happen to me after eating them before."

Cody raised a skeptical eyebrow and moved his gaze back to Rio, hoping for an explanation.

Rio looked at the datapad he was holding in his hands. "This actually may be true, I found no mention of an allergy to strawberries in the General's medical history. I suspect, then, that it's an acquired allergy. There are different types of allergies, people are born with some of them, others can develop throughout their lives, even in adulthood. You haven't eaten strawberries in a while, sir, so you may not have known they would cause this reaction."

"See?" Obi-Wan straightened up, seeming proud of himself. "Not my fault." Cody sighed.

"Yeah, this time," he said and turned to Rio again. "So he's alright now?" he asked.

Rio nodded.

"Yes, the worst of it is over now. The medications I gave him are working well, so I don't see any reason to keep him here."

Obi-Wan perked up. "I can leave?" he asked hopefully.

"Yes," Rio confirmed, but he raised his hand when he saw the man already getting up from the bed. "But I recommend getting some rest until the end of the day. And I strongly discourage further consumption of strawberries. You were lucky, sir, that the reaction only affected your skin. It could have ended much worse, there could have been swelling in your airways and difficulty breathing, which would have been a direct threat to your life."

"Understood." Obi-Wan quickly threw one of his tunics back over his shoulders and stood up. "Thank you for everything, Rio," he said, and left the room as quickly as possible, afraid that the medic would change his mind.

As the door closed behind him, Cody and Rio sighed heavily at the same time.

"Comfortable?"

Obi-Wan hummed in approval as Cody covered him with a blanket.

"Join me?" he asked, patting the space on the bed next to him encouragingly. Cody smiled.

"Later, I need to check on the troopers first."

"Okay."

"Try to get some sleep, you need it. I'll be back soon." Cody leaned over Obi-Wan to give him a quick kiss. When he pulled back, however, he studied the man before him. "You taste like strawberries," he said, frowning.

Obi-Wan blinked.

"Thank you?"

"No, it's just-" Cody stopped mid-sentence when he realized what was going on. He glared at the Jedi. "You keep eating them!"

Caught red-handed, Kenobi couldn't look more guilty than he did in that moment.

"I mean, it's not like anything bad can happen while the medication is still working, right?"

Cody felt like burying his face in his hands and screaming. (He was just grateful that Rio didn't hear it, because if he did, not even Cody would be able to protect Kenobi from his rage.)

"I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way," he said instead. He sighed heavily and held out his open hand. "Give them back."

Obi-Wan made a sad face, but he knew he wouldn't win this fight, so he dove under the blanket and pulled out the fruits still wrapped in the leaf from his pants pocket. He made a dissatisfied noise as he placed them on Cody's hand.

"That's not fair," he complained. "There are only a few left, I didn't want them to go to waste."

"They're not worth risking your health for. It was stupid." Obi-Wan muttered something incomprehensible under his breath and pulled the blanket over his head, hiding completely under it. Cody shook his head but smiled anyway. "Rest," he said, dimmed the light and left the room, taking the strawberries with him.

On his way through the corridor, he popped them into his mouth, one by one.

They were indeed too good to go to waste.
