[Narration:]

Pallet Town, the home of the world-renown Pokemon expert Professor Oak. It was a small town which many thought was odd for the professor. It was like he was hiding away his Pokemon knowledge from the rest of the world. Yet it wasn't him who was hiding from the world. The best things in life were hidden from him and the rest of the world and as always since his youth he has chased that wonder. That led him to find many talented young people and he as a pillar of knowledge decided he wanted to help those talented young sparks reach their full potential. He was lucky enough to live right by one of the most talented of those young sparks. Though no one knew it.

Professor Oak was a neighbor to Ash Ketchum. Ash was a bit rambunctious and a bit wild but he was also a charming and kind young lad. He could tell from the day he met Ash who stumbled into his lab playing with some wild Pokemon. He stumbled in the room with a Weedle The Professor could tell the young boy loved Pokemon just as much as the professor if not more just from the smile on his face as he barreled into the room.

However Ash was not the brightest bulb in the box and a bit reckless despite his creativity. Oak mostly came to this conclusion because the young man continued to get hurt day after day getting scolded by his mother. It was always something different sometimes it would be average scrapes and bruises, other times it would be him coming home from side effects of some powder or spore move of a bug or grass type Pokemon. In the rare event of him running into a fire type or electric type the boy would have burns of sort. If the boy was a pokemon the professor was certain that no pokeball could keep him contained.

The professor definitely thought he could be a good influence for his grandson. The spoiled brat. Not that he didn't have skill in fact the young boy often was one step ahead of most kids his age that wasn't bad. It was the fact the young boy would always brag about it and shove it in others faces. However when the two boys met it was a fiery clash.

Yet somehow the two boys became friends of sorts. No that wasn't fully accurate. With the way they always competed, it was more like a rivalry. Professor Oak noticed his grandson had this effect much to his exasperation on most people. He could crawl under their skin and make their blood boil all while wearing a smirkish smile. Ay what was Oak ever going to do with that boy? Gary brought out a fire that made Ash live up to his name. Maybe this was good for Ash bringing out a healthy competitive spirit as long as he never lost that fun loving kind soul.

Professor Oak held a Pokemon Summer camp every year since he had his first grandkid. And ever since Ash was old enough to go he tried to go. Of course that boy had an odd habit of never being able to wake up on time.

We begin our story as the sun was just rising over the horizon and bathing the town and abroad in a ray of golden light, the whole town waking up while most of its residents preferred to hit the snooze button and sleep well into the afternoon before starting their day, Delia was a young woman, at thirty-nine she looked like she hadn't aged a day, she had long brown hair and beautiful brown eyes, she stretched her arms and made her way down stairs, already making breakfast she looked at the time to see it read seven-thirty.

"Better get started on Breakfast, that'll wake up my little Ash" the woman said with a chuckle. She peered over to her fridge and noticed an advertisement for Professor Oaks summer camp coming in one month. She remembered how arrogant Gary was, always trying to prove he was better by bragging arrogantly to the other kids. Ash and Gary would always argue over who was better.

Soon the aroma of Bacon, eggs and sausages wafted through the air, making its way through the house and waking Ash from his deep slumber, soon it wasn't long before she heard the sound of feet rushing down the stairs.

"Good morning mom" Ash said excitedly rushing over to give Delia a morning hug, which she returned in kind.

"Good morning dear" She said with a motherly smile. after a few minutes breakfast was ready, her son was already at the table eagerly anticipating his breakfast. As soon as the plate was in front of him he shoved it down his throat like he was at one of those eating contests, in rapid succession the food was gone before his mother finished her own breakfast.

"Thanks for breakfast mom" Ash said.

"Your welcome honey" Delia said while starting to eat her eggs, sausages, bacon and toast while drinking her morning coffee as her son went to watch reruns of Pokemon league battles.

(Later that day)

Ash was playing with his Pokemon themed action figures, he was making a scene where a big green pseudo Legendary Pokemon was tearing up a small city, recreating something he saw in a movie he watched with his mother, with his mother covering her sons eyes from the more graphic scenes despite the movie being in black and white.

"Ash are you in there?" his mother asked, knocking on her sons door.

"Come in" Ash said through he door. When Delia entered her sons room she noticed it was a mess; toys littered the room everywhere, you couldn't walk anywhere without accidentally stepping on something, there were only a few open spots where you could step over, if you didn't already trip first.

"Ash your room is a mess, i have something to show you but first i want you to clean up a bit in here" his mother instructed.

"Ok mom" Ash replied.

When your done i have something to show you" Delia said before walking back down stairs to watch some TV.

(45 minutes later)

"I'm done cleaning my room" Ash announced as he walked down the stairs.

"Ash come here i thought you'd want to see this" Delia said beckoning her son over to the couch.

"What is it mom?" Ash asked, before his mother showed him an advertisement for the professors summer camp he was hosting a few months later.

"Professor Oak is having a summer camp? Can i go mom? Can i? Can i? Please?" Ash practically begged making his mother laugh.

"Of course you can honey" Delia said happily.

"Thank you mom" Ash said excitedly giving his mother a big hug which she returned.

(Later that night)

"Ash sweetie its time for bed" his mother called, letting Ash who was playing with his action figures in his much cleaner room; that it was now time for bed.

"Ok, mom" Ash yelled, he soon began to change into his nightwear and get ready for bed, and as soon as he was done doing his bedtime business he climbed into bed, eagerly waiting for what the next few months would bring.

'Im going to be an awesome Pokemon master' was the raven haired boys last thoughts before closing his eyes, and allowing his dreams to take him.

(With Delia)

Walking back down stairs she walked over and looked at a framed photo on the kitchen counter. It was of a younger Ash; maybe at the age of Four, his mother Delia and their father Red Ketchum before he left. She didn't talk about it much since then because she didn't want Ash to worry. She looked at the photo and remembered that Ash was on Red's shoulders when the photo was taken. Growing thoughtful she remembered when Red proposed to her; when they got married, the honeymoon in the Alola region and most of all when her little Ash was born. Thinking about all that made her shed a tear, she missed him and often wondered where he was now, or even if he remembers them still, or even if he was still alive. But if theres one thing Delia knew, it was how thankful she was to be a part of this growing family. No doubt Ash will bring home all kinds of new and rare Pokemon, of that she was certain.

"I miss you" was Delia's last thought before she put the picture down and she turned off the lights; the house fell silent as everyone was fast asleep.

(Some time later— At the summer camp, Monday)

The professor's summer camp was just about to begin, there were many kids present, there was one girl with maroon colored hair and yellow-green eyes, she wore a baggy white dress with blue anchors on the sides, a blue and white collar around her shoulders and a yellow ribbon around her neck she also wore a pair of mid knee socks that were dark grey in color which have a white line on the top of them, lastly she wore short white boots that matched her dress. There was a boy with darker skin, black hair and blue eyes, there was another girl with brown hair and brown eyes she wore a sleeveless shirt that was light blue along with a red mini skirt. matching long socks and athletic shoes. Their names were Leaf, Goh and Chloe, Along with Ash and Serena and a few other kids too. Serena wore a pink dress that stopped a few inches above her knees, pink shoes and a straw hat with a pink ribbon tied around it. Ash was wearing a yellow sleeveless shirt with a red Pokeball symbol on it, blue shorts and red sneakers.

"Alright campers before we begin i'd like to introduce myself, for those who have not heard; my name is Professor Oak and I'm this regions Professor, this is my assistant Tracey" Oak said introducing himself, Tracey waved at the group before him.

"Hello Campers, i'm tracey and I'm the professor's assistant. If you need anything just come and find me" Tracey said with a big smile.

"We have someone new joining us today, this is Serena Yvonne. She's a bit shy so please be easy with her" Oak said with a kind smile as the others introduced themselves.

"Hi Serena my names Leaf" Leaf said introducing herself before she noticed Serena's Fennekin plushy that she always held close to her.

"I love your Plushy, its so adorable. I hope we can be great friends" Leaf commented.

"T-thanks" Serena stuttered shyly.

"Hi Serena, i'm Goh" Goh said walking up and offering his hand for a handshake, Serena slowly took his hand and shook it.

"My names Chloe" a girl said also walking up to Serena, who nervously waved at her.

"Ok campers now that we got introductions out of the way, its time for our first activity" Oak said, the group looked on with curiosity.

"Whats the activity professor?" Ash asked.

"We're having a Pokemon scavenger hunt. Everyone will be put into small groups and given a card with a Pokemon on it and the one who finds a Pokemon wins, bonus points will be offered to the group who found a rare pokemon" Oak explained but mentioned that this was for fun and not to be taken seriously. The group gave a mighty cheer in response, this was going to be fun.

"Ok Ash, Goh and Harrison come up please" The kind professor said. The three campers walked up to professor Oak.

"You'll be our first group" the kids nodded in understanding.

"Okay, Serena, Chloe and Gary please come forward" the kids did and walked a few feet away from the first group.

And last we have, Leaf, Michael and Issac you'll be our last group" Oak said, the three groups were spread out in order and given a bandana that was tied to their wrists to tell the groups apart and to avoid mixups; the bandana's were red, blue and Yellow respectfully. Now that the preparations were all met and the groups were made, the professor handed one member of a group a picture of a Pokemon and they were off. The groups and their Pokemon went as fallows.

Ash, Go and Harrison: An Elekid (Blue Group. Rare Pokemon: Chikorita)

Serena, Gary and Chloe: An Eevee (Yellow, group. Rare Pokemon: Ralts)

And lastly,

Leaf, Micheal and Isaac: a Magikerp (Red group. Rare Pokemon: Oshawott)

The scavenger hunt was going really well and the kids seemed to have taken to the challenge like a Magikarp to a body of water. it was quite exciting to see such youth who have a love for all things Pokemon related reacting with such joy, Professor Oak wished that he was younger, he remembered his excitement for Pokemon, and how he saw Ash in himself, that excitement for adventure, love for all Pokemon and a desire to travel.

'Those were the days' Oak thought to himself as he continued to sit and wait for the groups to return.

(Somewhere in the forest)

Serena somehow managed to get lost. The trees were big and thick, their leaves blocking out the sun as the tops of the trees casted shadows below. She didn't know where her group was or where they went. It also didn't help that she was scared and alone, soon the bushes rattled until a Polliwag jumped out and scared her, she fell to the ground and her knee became grazed and bruised. The polliwag looked at her before jumping away deeper into the forest.

"I Knew i never wanted to come to camp. I knew it" Serena whimpered, too scared to do a thing.

"MOMMY" Serena screamed into the sky above. She heard the bushes rattle and she instinctively wrapped her hands around her legs and backed herself against the tree behind her.

"Poliwag" Ash called, pushing aside a bush as he made his way through it, before his attention turned to Serena. The Poliwag can wait.

"Hey, my names Ash. Who are you?" Ash said introduced himself. Ash noticed the girls bruised and bloody knee. Her knee wasn't bleeding too bad but Ash made a mental note to get her checked up just to be sure it wasn't anything too serious.

"Whats wrong?" Ash asked in concern.

"I hurt… my leg" Serena said looking at her knee. Before Ash held out a handkerchief.

"See this? This will make it all better" Ash said softly. He wrapped the Handkerchief gently but firmly on Serena's knee.

"Its no use. I can't stand up" Serena whined.

"Watch this, FEEL BETTER FEEL BETTER RIGHT AWAY" Ash said with his hands moving in a way like he was casting a spell.

"It still hurts, i can't stand up" Serena protested.

"Don't give up till its over, Kay" Ash said holding out his hand to the girl, who looked at his hand in amazement. She took his hand and Ash pulled her to her feet, a little too forcefully because the two were close to hugging. Serena pulled back with a "Huh"

"There you go" Ash said with a grin.

"We should be getting back to the camp site. Come on" Ash said as he led Serena out of the forest still holding hands.

(At the start of the forest)

"Professor? Professor? We need help" Ash called, the two were just outside the lab where the camp began.

"Yes, oh hello Ash what do you need me for dear boy?" Professor Oak asked before he noticed the girls knee, the handkerchief wrapped around it.

"What happened Ms Serena?" he asked in concern.

"I got separated from the group and i hurt my knee after a Poliwag scared me" Serena explained.

"I found Serena and lead her back here to get her knee treated" Ash explained. His statement caused Serena's heart to pound and her to blush at how kind and selfless he was. He didn't need to do all this for her he could've easily kept trying to find that Poliwag, but he chose to help her instead and it caused her heartbeat to quicken and her blush to darken ten fold.

"Oh dear. Serena are you getting a fever too?" Professor Oak asked concerned.

"I-i'm fine" Serena stuttered.

"Is the nurse around?" Ash asked, breaking the awkward moment; which made Serena relax a bit.

"Yes, i'll go grab her now" Professor Oak said before he got up and went to another room, a woman's voice was heard as the Professor came back with a kind looking nurse who looked like she was in her thirties, but easily looked way younger, she had light pink hair and her eyes were the same color, she was dressed in a white coat with jeans and a stethoscope around her neck as she adjusted her glasses which sat in front of her beautiful pink eyes.

"Hello Ash" she said.

"Hi, nurse" Ash said greeting the kind nurse.

"And you must be Serena, the Professor told me so much about you" the nurse said.

"T-thank you" Serena said shyly hiding behind Ash making the kind nurse smile a bit.

"Come with me you two and we'll take care of your knee" she said.

Getting into the room it wasn't that much to be impressed at, there was a adjustable bed, a desk with a computer and two chairs right beside the desk, a otoscope with those cover dispensers, a ophthalmoscope for looking into your eyes etc. (i don't know if this is all necessary but i'm just saying what there is because plot)

"I realize i didn't introduce myself but my name is Sarah Young and I'm the camp nurse. But you can call me Sarah if you'd like" Sarah said properly.

"Nice to meet you" Ash said happily.

"Alright Serena can you show me your knee please?" she asked, Ash got up and gently unwrapped the handkerchief from Serena's leg, showing it still looked a bit red, chafed, bruised and little spots of blood were still visible but it didn't look like anything was broken.

"Thank you for being such a sweetie Ash" Sarah commented upon noticing the young boys actions.

"Aw it was nothing" Ash said embarrassed rubbing the back of his neck.

"I have just the thing, can you sit here with Serena?" Sarah asked. Ash nodded.

"Ash? I'm scared of the Doctors" Serena said feeling scared, Ash took her hand and gently squeezed.

"Its ok Serena i'll be right with you" Ash said in a light whisper with a big smile, trying to reassure the young girl until there was a knock and Ms Young walked back in the room. Ash gave a reassuring smile and held his hand in hers.

"Ok Serena I'm sorry but this may sting a bit" Ms Sarah said, Serena nodded and closed her eyes, while the doctor put on some disposable gloves and dabbed some alcohol solution onto some gauze and Serena felt a sharp sting on her knee making her flinch and hold on to Ash even tighter; as the nurse gently cleaned the wound and then some relief as she gently rubbed some antibiotic cream on her knee and finally put on a band-aid.

"Serena you can open your eyes now" Sarah gently said, the young girl opened her eyes and looked at her knee.

"Thank you so much Sarah" Serena said in gratitude.

"Your welcome Serena. Ash thank you for helping her i could tell she was afraid but you were there with her until the end. That was real sweet" Sarah said, complimenting the duo.

"Its no trouble at all" Ash said happily, smiling at Serena with his signature grin making her giggle a bit.

"I'll inform your mother, Ms Serena" Dr Young said as Serena nodded in understanding. Sarah Young wend to dispose of the wrappers and everything she'd used to clean Serena's knee as the two campers exited the room, while the nurse notified Grace through email regarding Serena's bruised knee.

(Exiting the Dr's office)

"Thank you for helping me Ash" Serena said, she unexpectedly pecked Ash on his cheek making him blush; no girl had ever done that to him before. He gently touched the spot where she'd kissed him and smiled.

'I never thought id meet an angel' Ash said in his thoughts, he felt that warm feeling in his chest; the familiar feeling of Butterfree's in his chest as his heart began to race. But than another thought came.

'What're these feelings?' he thought, he was very confused but he never fought what ever these feelings were. He didn't know how to describe them, but maybe the Professor could help him out.

(Later that same day)

We're back professor" The children cried out, their respective pokemon on their shoulders or in their arms.

"Welcome back kids, did you find any rare Pokemon" the professor asked.

"We found an Eevee! and we also found a Ralts; i've never seen one before" Chloe's 'group' announced. Eevee giving the kind man a wave with his paw, while the Ralts was in Chloe's arms.

"We found an Elekid" Goh said, the electric type standing at his feet

"We found a Magikarp" Leaf announced, while Magikarp flopped aimlessly on the ground.

"My, My, you kids did excellent. Ten points to Chloe's group" Professor Oak announced happily as Chloe's group cheered. (if you get the reference all i can say is uh, uh, PAXMAN19 DID IT! TO THE ESCAPE POD! I REGRET NOTHING!)

(Later that same night)

Night time has fallen on the small camp site as all the campers crawled into their tents and got ready for bed. Serena was in her tent going over everything that happened to her and her time at camp. She never wanted to come to camp at all but meeting Ash had changed her attitude about the whole thing. After meeting Ash she became more social, she participated in more activities like Archery, skipping rocks, canoeing; and many others.

She couldn't stop thinking about the raven haired boy, his selfless and caring nature, his caring smile; how adorable he looked. That last thought made her give pause as she felt herself blush. Putting those thoughts in the back of her mind.

She began to think about how Ash had became her first real friend since arriving at camp, and she couldn't help but wonder where their friendship would lead them in the future, and with that last thought Serena fell asleep in her sleeping bag eager to see what tomorrow would bring.

(Halfway through the camp week, Wednesday)

It was the dawn of a new day for the campers, the weather was calm, the sun was shining and Serena couldn't wait to see what exciting activities that professor Oak would have them do on such a beautiful day like this one. Unfortunately it started pretty awful with Serena running into Gary, who just so happened to be in the area and after he saw Serena and her plush Fennekin; he swiped it from her hands and held it high above her head as she jumped up trying to grab it back; she was able to reach it but not fully grab it. And it just so happens that Ash happened to be walking by. When he saw how Gary was treating Serena his demeanor became angry, but he remained eerily calm and collected.

"Hey you big bully, give me back my Fennekin plushie" Serena whined. She ran up to the raven haired boy and grabbed onto Ash tightly out of fear however Ash remained calm and collected, but the anger behind his eyes was palpable. His confidence to talk Gary down and defend his new friend, was something Serena admired and she knew what these feelings were. They were of admiration, respect, safety and love melded into one.

"You dare talk to the great Gary Oak? and your boyfriend is a bag of Trubbish, a worthless loser just like you are" Gary sneered, Serena began to tear up as she realized she was playing right into Gary's arrogant hands.

"Leave her alone Gary" Ash said calmly and forcefully.

"Oh yeah, and what're you gonna do about it Ashy boy? Your just in time to see me make your little weakling of a girlfriend cry" Gary said as he took Serena's Fennekin plush by the neck with one hand and twisted the body with the other, he kept going until he tore the head from the body evident by the stuffing that came out of the doll.

"NO! FENNY!" Serena yelled in shock and sadness.

"Ha! Thanks for letting me play with you, smell ya later losers" Gary said before walking away, his hands in his pockets.

Serena was inconsolable at this point hugging Ash with all her strength as she cried hot fresh tears from her face, Ash despite the sudden gesture was blushing brightly and while pushing those thoughts in the back of his head he hugged his childhood friend back while patting her back gently and consolingly.

"Lets go back and tell the professor what happened, ok?" Ash suggested. Serena silently nodded and after Ash walked over and picked up the plushy remains now covered in dirt and mud; the two childhood friends walked back to the lab, the honey blond never letting go of Ash's hand.

(A few minutes later)

"Ash my boy, and Serena Yvonne, what brings you to my lab?" the kind professor asked; before noticing the young girls sad expression making him frown in concern.

"Whats wrong?" Professor Oak asked.

"Gary happened! he broke Serena's plushy, twisting it by the neck until it tore" Ash explained calmly but the anger in his tone never wavered, he knew Gary had went too far but as much as he wanted to teach that bully a lesson, he'd rather be close to Serena and just thinking about being with her made him blush, overshadowing his intense anger. Serena silently nodded, her grip on Ash slightly lessened.

"I'm deeply sorry you had to go through that, as much as he is my grandson; I'll have to suspend him from the camp. I'll even replace your plushy Ms Serena" Oak offered the young girl.

"You will, thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU" Serena said. Her tone changing from sadness to excitement and happiness in a heartbeat.

(Later that same day)

Nothing really major happened after the incident with Gary, and Ash just wanted to forget it ever happened. The other members in the camp noticed how Serena and Ash seemed more close recently, they remember that when the honey blonde girl first started she'd seemed skittish, shy and quiet and she never talked to the others and mostly kept to herself. After meeting Ash however her whole attitude turned a full 180. Not to mention she became more social and confident and the others noticed how she would blush when she was around him. Something that went unnoticed by the others or even the Professor. He knew something was there and felt that Serena was slowly breaking through his dense shield.

"Ash? Could you come here for a moment? I have something to talk to you about" Professor Oak said.

"I have to talk to you too, i guess" Ash said.

"Ok lets go back to my office and talk, i'll get Tracy to take over" he said, Ash and the professor made their way to his office and they began to chat.

(In the professors office)

"So what do you need to talk to me about Professor?" Ash asked.

"I've noticed you've been getting closer to Serena lately and vice-versa, mind telling me about it?" the professor asked.

"What do you mean?" Ash asked, to him helping people wasn't that big a deal to him; it was just the right thing to do. The professor saw his opening and decided to bite it in the bud.

"What i mean Ash is what do you FEEL about Serena?" he asked, gauging Ash's reaction to the question. The professor almost did a smirk as he saw that his question got the exact answer he wanted.

"W-what do you mean professor" Ash asked, unfortunately his own blush betrayed him.

"What i mean is, is there anything you like specifically about her?" the professor explained further.

"Well she's nice and Sweet from what i could tell, i also noticed how she seemed to not have many friends. She seemed shy and scared; hesitant to make friends" Ash explained.

"I see" Oak said stroking his beard in thought. Then he had another idea, time for part two of his questioning.

"Do you know what a boyfriend and Girlfriend is?" Professor Oak asked.

"What does that mean?" Ash asked confused, his density kicking in.

"Well when a boy and girl show feelings when they like each other they become Boyfriend and Girlfriend, they kiss, hold hands in public, they hug, snuggle and are extremely close to one another, think of it as becoming 'more than friends'." the Professor explained.

"They also get teased and blush in public" Oak said with a devilish smirk, and as the truth of his last sentence hit Ash it made the raven haired boy blush.

"Ok, so what does that have anything to do with me?" Ash asked.

"The point i'm trying to make is that when you saved her when she got hurt sparked a reaction in her, she doesn't just like you; she LOVES you" he explained.

"So what do i do about it? This is all so much to take in" Ash confessed.

"You'll know when, trust me my dear boy. You'll know" the professor said before everyone walked out.

(Time skip, On the day Serena was about to move to Kalos. The day camp ended)

Ash thought about what the professor had told him, about when a girl likes a guy or vice-versa; and if Ash were to be honest with himself it was a whole lot to take in all at once. But he remained calm and decided to let his instincts play this one out, if he was going to be the first one to act he needed to play this right. But sadly as camp was about to end he found his chance came sooner then he'd expected; and under gloomy circumstances.

"But mom i don't wanna move" Serena whined as she was led away by her mother back to a waiting car.

"I know you don't want to sweetie but this Job promotion is really important to me" Her mother; Grace explained. They reached the car when Serena came to a realization.

"B-but what about Ash?" Serena asked as fresh hot tears welled in her eyes.

"We could always call him" her mother offered. That made her break down even more as the two drove back home to finish the moving preparations.

(Later that day, two hours before dinner time)

Ash was on his way to Serena's house and luckily it was one house over, and since he was terrible with directions this was surprisingly easy for him to remember. He made it to the house and knocked on the door and Grace opened the door, with a sad expression on her face.

"Oh… Hello Ash. What can i do for you?" Grace asked. Ash noted the sad tone in her voice

"Do you know where Serena is?" Ash asked.

"In the forest, she ran away as soon as i parked in the drive way" Grace explained.

"I can go talk to her" Ash said.

"Go ahead Ash she won't even listen to me anymore, maybe by seeing you she'll open up" Grace said.

"Thank you very much ma'am" Ash said before he ran off into the forest. Grace closed the door behind her.

(!0 minutes later)

Ash's mom just arrived at Grace's house and knocked on the door, wondering where Ash went, it was getting late and it was almost dinner time.

"Is Ash around? its almost dinner time" Delia asked, Grace sighed in response.

"No he just ran into the forest to comfort my daughter. We're moving to the Kalos region for my promotion. It seemed that never seeing Ash again really got to her" Grace explained sadly.

"The professor has been telling me a lot about those two recently. He helped her out of the forest and got Serena's knee treated" Delia explained.

"Your son has a big heart" Grace said, smiling a little.

"How much do you wanna bet that we'll get to see our grandkids?" Delia joked.

"Hmmmm, 20P$?" Grace challenged with a smirk.

"You're on" Delia said as she went to give Grace a hug, which she returned.

(Deep in the forest)

"SERENA! SERENA WHERE ARE YOU? SERENA!" Ash yelled, after walking a few more feet he began to hear soft crying.

"I don't want to move. I don't want to say goodbye to you Ash; you were my first friend" Serena cried. Ash followed the voice and found the honey blonde girl crying with her back against a tree, with the handkerchief still in her hands. Ash made a mental note to ask for that back but he never did. Then Ash remembered something his father told him before he left.

(Flashback)

"When something is taken away from you, it makes you want it more" Red told a young Ash.

What do you mean by that daddy?" Ash asked, tears welling up in his eyes. Was his father….. leaving?

"It means hold everyone you care about closest to you, and never let them slip away. Cherish any and every moment with them. Because you don't know what you've got, until its gone. I'll see you soon my son. Ok Charizard LETS FLY!" Red commanded. (Linkin Park: Until It's Gone Reference)

"Rawwwwwr" the fire-lizard roared, shooting off into the everlasting vastness of the blue sky above. Blowing Ash and his mother away by the force.

"I'll miss you….. dad" Ash said to himself as he cried in his mothers arms.

'Thank you for helping me raise our son, and for being the best husband i could ask for.' Delia thanked in her thoughts, wiping away the stray tears from her face as she walked Ash back inside the house.

(End of flashback)

Ash continued to fallow the cries until he reached a small spot in the forest; Looking at it now he realized the spot as the exact same spot he'd met Serena only a few days ago. He really never did think about it much before but realized that when he'd eventually go on his many journeys in the future, he made a mental promise to himself to never forget this spot. Soon he finally found Serena crying against the same exact tree, her hands buried in her hands. She never noticed Ash sit right next to her.

"Serena whats wrong?" Ash asked. Serena looked up and buried her face into Ash's chest, dampening his shirt but Ash didn't care; he instinctively wrapped his arms around the crying girl.

"I don't want to move away. I'll miss you too much" Serena cried into his chest.

"I'll miss you too Serena, you mean a whole lot to me too" Ash said.

"But your mom is really worried about you, we should go back and tell her your alright" Ash said.

"C-can we stay here for a few more minutes? Please?" Serena asked cutely. As much as he wanted to say no for fear of what his mom would do if Serena wasn't back he knew he couldn't say no; eventually his conscience won and he sighed.

"Ok but only for a few minutes then I'm taking you back" Ash said with a gentle yet forceful tone.

"Thanks Ash" Serena said tiredly, the heat that was coming from Ash and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat lulled the young girl into a dreamful sleep. He smirked and gently kissed her forehead.

"Goodnight Serena" Ash whispered as he carefully got up and carried the young girl bridal style, careful not to wake her up and he started walking out of the forest.

(With Delia and Grace)

"I wonder what is taking those two so long" Grace said getting worried.

"I'm sure they're fine" Delia said trying to reassure her friend.

"When i see Serena she is in so much tro-" Grace said angrily until Delia cut her off.

"Look" Delia said pointing at the the entrance to the forest, Grace fallowed her friends finger and saw what she was pointing at; Ash was carrying Serena bridal style being careful not to wake the girl sleeping soundly in his arms. If it wasn't so late out the two would have screamed like little girls at the sight of Ash being such a gentleman. Finally Ash made it over to the two parents and gently handed Serena to her mother.

"Thank you Ash" Grace said sweetly.

"It was no problem at all Ms, Yvonne" Ash said honestly.

"Your such a good boy, thank you so much for bringing Serena back" Delia said.

"He is Delia. He really is one of a kind" Grace said before walking up the steps and walking inside the house and shutting the door behind her.

(The next day)

The sun was shining and it was a brand new daybed it wasn't a day that Ash and Serena was looking forward to, neither was Ash.

"Serena come on? Lets go! Our plane leaves in a few hours!" Grace yelled from the drivers side of their car.

"One second" Serena yelled back.

"Ash i want you to have this, its the ribbon and the hat i wore when we first met" Serena said sadly, giving Ash her hat and the pink ribbon.

"Serena i want you to have my handkerchief" Ash said in the exact same tone as he handed his handkerchief to the young girl.

"Thank you Ash, i'll take really good care of it" Serena said, trying her best to put on a smile.

"Thank you Serena" Ash said.

"Theres one more thing i'd like to give you Ash" Serena said walking closer to the young confused boy.

"Whats that Serena?" Ash asked.

"I love you Ash" She said before she gently kissed Ash on the lips. Too shocked to respond he relaxed into the kiss, and put his arms around Serena's waist and and closed their eyes as they sank into the heat of the moment knowing that it'll be their last. After a few moments he broke the kiss to breathe and to also take one final look into Serena's beautiful blue eyes.

"I love you too Serena" Ash said.

"Will you come find me one day?' Serena asked.

"I promise i will. I'll see you soon" Ash said. Serena ran to the car and got back in and the car soon sped off into the horizon, but never from Ash's heart.
