AN: Heyyyyyyyyy. It's been awhile. I recently was cleaning up my old computer and found this story and thought I might owe some of you the ending chapter that's been sitting here mostly finished for *checks watch* 8 years. Whoops. Some of y'all in the reviews had real beef with this story even though it had been abandoned so if you're still here maybe go touch some grass. I never finished TO and it's been ages since I watched TVD and I don't entirely remember how I planned to end this so it might be terribly unsatisfying. A lot of it was written though so I'm leaving it as is and just carrying on with what I think now. Thank you to everyone that read this and commented and liked it and even though I abandoned it for ages, it meant a lot to teenage me.

It's strange, Caroline thinks as she looks at the rest of her group around the table. There's nobody trying to come after them, no curses to break, nobody to bring back, nothing to fix, we're all just together because we can be and nothing bad has come of it. Sure Bonnie had given Kol a couple of headaches, but it was almost like a normal day of hanging out with...friends? Did that happen, had the Mikaelson's become her friends? Sure Klaus had been something, but even this was different. Even Bonnie seemed to be feeling the same way, if her playing with Hope and actually having casual conversations with Klaus was an indication.

"I'm guessing that you guys don't want people knowing where you're going, but I should be able to make some more stuff that will help Hope," Bonnie says to Klaus.

"We can figure out a way for you to send anything to us and it's not like we need to cut contact with everybody so talking with you two should be fine," Klaus replies after a moment.

"And doesn't college have breaks, I'm sure it'd be helpful for Hope to have a powerful witch to help her every so often," Kol suggests. Both Bonnie and Klaus look at each other thinking it over.

"If you would ever like to teach Hope, you would be welcome," Klaus says slowly.

"I'll consider it. First I'll have to get used to your aunt's power, but it might be nice to help someone for once," Bonnie answers. Caroline grins at the group and almost starts laughing as Hope starts floating a flower behind Bonnie. Kol notices it as it moves closer and he doesn't control his laughter, which breaks Caroline. Bonnie turns around and sees the flower and joins them. Klaus is grinning while trying to help Hope get the flower down. Hope's magic finally drops the flower right into Bonnie's cup which causes the laughter to get louder and Klaus to join which also gets Hope giggling. After they all calm down, they sit in silence looking at each other for a moment.

"It's not just me who thinks this is weird right?" Bonnie breaks the silence.

"Of course not, I'm just too polite to mention it." Kol states.

"Oh polite my -", Bonnie looks at Hope and catches herself, "Butt."

"You just didn't want Klaus to hit you," Caroline says.

"Yeah right like he'd do that in front of Hope or you in front of Hope for that matter," Kol rolls his eyes. Both Klaus and Caroline glare at him.

"Did you ever get in touch with that girl?" Caroline asks innocently.

"I'm surprised that you don't want that witch to come and visit to help Hope," Klaus joins in when he realizes who she means.

"Well she doesn't want to see you anymore does she?" Kol glares at Klaus.

"We came to a mutually beneficial agreement, she never said she didn't want to see you or Hope," Klaus points out.

"Like it's not a package deal," Kol huffs. Klaus pauses and just looks at Kol.

"I meant what I said. I'm not going to try to keep you 'trapped' as you liked to call it. Not like you didn't run off for years at a time." He takes a breath. "I already gave Elijah and Rebekah their daggers, I was going to give you yours when we left, but here," he says pulling out the dagger from his jacket and handing it to Kol.

Kol takes it slowly, "I know you meant it, it's just you have to know that it won't be easy."

"When is anything in your family easy?" Bonnie asks.

"Seriously, we are sitting here with Klaus' baby and just killed your long lost crazy witchy aunt who has been hiding your thought to be dead sister while her and your other brother and sister are looking for you because they don't trust Klaus with a kid," Caroline lists off.

"She has a point," Kol grins.

"And this came about because they stabbed me with a dagger you created," Klaus raises an eyebrow at Kol.

"Remind me to yell at them whenever they pull their heads out of their a- butts. I gave it to Davina for a reason," Kol grumbles.

"That's not the only reason it didn't work and you know it," Klaus says smugly.

"The diamond was supposed to help with the stupid wolf thing," Kol pouts.

"Should've looked more into the wolf stuff then because you ignore parts of it," Klaus states.

"Yeah yeah yeah. I just wanted you to know how it felt," Kol states.

"Well I was still out a couple of days and trust me I didn't like it," Klaus grimaces. Both go silent.

"Why don't we take Hope to bed while you guys hug it out?" Caroline says as her and Bonnie stand up. Caroline gently picks up Hope and the three of them head down the hallway.

"I mean look at it this way, it's only been a thousand years and we're fixing our stuff pretty well. We've got who knows how many more thousands of years to make up for your douchiness," Kol states.

"Oh just my douchiness?" Klaus asks incredulous.

"I'll have you know people find me absolutely charming Nik,"Kol says.

"More like absolutely mental," Klaus replies.

"I'm not the one who was in an institution," Kol sing-songs.

"It wasn't long and it was your fault and you know it!" Klaus argues.

"At least I didn't get you trapped in that crazy baroness' house like Elijah," Kol points out.

"Because I killed her I couldn't feed from the vein for months and I had to protect that annoying coven, bloody magic oaths," Klaus frowns remembering.

"And remember that time that Rebekah forced you to wear-"

"We don't speak of it," Klaus cuts Kol off.

Five days after Klaus un-daggers himself and takes off with Hope, Elijah opens their front door to find a coffin.

"Rebekah, Freya!" he calls into the house. Elijah carries the coffin inside as they make their way to the foyer. Rebekah immediately looks panicked when she sees the coffin.

"Who is it?" she asks.

"I haven't opened it yet, but it seems to be sealed with magic." Elijah answers. Freya steps forward and mutters a spell before lifting the coffin lid. The siblings all look shocked to see a deceased Dahlia.

"Klaus…really killed her." Freya breathes. Rebekah's phone vibrates and she looks at the message.

"That bloody imbecile," Rebekah throws her hands in the air and then shows the others what is on her phone.

A selfie of Kol on a plane with Hope in his lap with a smug look on his face.

'Nik's peace offering for Freya should have arrived. I voted for feeding her to sharks but whatever you have in mind is probably just as therapeutic. Don't worry about her magic, it's in safe hands. I'll be with Nik until I secure the favorite uncle position which won't be hard so don't take too long getting your heads out of your asses.'

"I will let Hayley know Hope is safe." Elijah sighs.

Hayley isn't pleased with the news and way it seems the siblings are just going to leave Klaus with Hope for now, but given the way the wolves aren't happy with her at the moment, it might be for the best Hope isn't in the city.

"You know we could probably find a way to bring Finn back with Dahlia's magic too," Kol mentions to Freya the second time he stops back to New Orleans after leaving Klaus and Hope.

"We'd have to wait until Hope is older, I wouldn't want to risk anything happening to her." Freya responds touching her necklace.

"Hope doesn't have Dahlia's magic. In the first of many shocking Nik concessions, Dahlia's magic is with a very competent witch who had previously lost her magic after coming back to life. While everyone doesn't need to know about it, I'm sure you and Nik could figure something out to get in contact with her to at least ask." Kol responds.

"...I'll think about it." Freya says. She wasn't quite ready to talk to Klaus yet, but their siblings would be the one thing they could agree on.

"Hayley is going out to see them again next weekend if you decide before then I'm sure she would be glad to have someone to talk to Klaus instead of her." Kol suggests before heading off.

Caroline sits at a cafe in Paris reading her book when someone sits down next to her.

"You know it's not polite to just sit down at a stranger's table without asking first," she says without looking up.

"Now love, I miss one phone call and we're strangers now?" a voice teases.

Caroline rolls her eyes and puts her book down to look at Klaus.

"It's not the phone call and you know it. I was supposed to have another week alone in Paris before you showed up." Caroline huffs.

"I don't know what you mean. Hope's back in New Orleans for the summer before school starts and I just figured I would come out here to visit a few friends and see some old spots." Klaus fakes innocence.

"Mhmmm. And who would those old friends be?" Caroline asks with a raised eyebrow.

"You," Klaus grins.

"Fine but you're carrying my bags back to the hotel." Caroline gestures to the shopping bags around her.

"I would expect nothing less." Klaus smirks. In a flash he's grabbed the bags and Caroline and is off to the hotel with her laughing.
