About 15 minutes before the credits rolled on Talladega Nights, Rory noticed Stewart had fallen asleep. She sat there, staring at the screen but not really watching the movie. Instead she replayed their conversation over and over in her head. She never wanted to think about her failed relationship with Logan so she never talked about it. She didn't purposely NOT tell Stewart, she just didn't tell him. Logan was a very special part of her past that she kept tucked in her heart, like a precious jewel. One night Stewart looked through a photo album in her apartment - it contained pictures during her Yale days. 'The Umbrella Picture' as Stewart called it was the only one that he saw. She told him a little bit about the picture and the clothes they were wearing - and she described Logan as 'her college boyfriend,' which was true. She never said that she thought of Logan as the love of her life who she missed very much and never dared to think of.

Once the credits rolls on Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, Rory decided to gather up her things and go home. She brought her overnight bag - the plan was for her to stay the night and go to work from there the following morning. But she chose to be alone instead so she left. She glanced over her shoulder at her fiance sleeping on the couch and wondered if this wedding was really going to happen. Either way, she needed some space. She closed the front door softly behind her and took a deep breath.

Rory dialed Lorelei as she walked home.

"Hello." Lorelei answered quickly. "Its late. You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay. I just wanted to talk. We haven't talked much in a while." Rory sighed into the phone as she crossed the street at a crosswalk.

"Sure. I'm always glad to talk to you. Is anything going on?" Lorelei asked carefully.

"Let's start with this: I just left Stewart's apartment after he fell asleep on the couch. I decided to go home instead," she sniffed into the phone.

"Aw, Honey. Did you guys have a fight?" Lorelei asked.

"Not really a fight. But I finally told him that Logan had proposed and it was very tense."

"How did Logan's name even come up in the first place? This is probably the first time you've mentioned his name since your graduation day," Lorelei said.

Rory told her the story about Emily lunching with Karen and running into Honor. Then how Stewart met Logan at the hospital. The finale of the story was how they had a meal with Stewart's parents and Karen went crazy about Rory's previous relationship with Logan.

"Wow." Lorelei repeated over and over. "Wow. Freaking wow," she huffed. "Where does this woman live? I'm going to punch her in the nose!"

"Mom, you can't punch her. She already doesn't like me - you assaulting her wouldn't really ingratiate me to her, now would it?" Rory asked.

"Well, I'm going order a bunch of pizzas and send them to her house! Pizza she doesn't like!" Lorelei said loudly. "I've had enough of this woman."

Rory chuckled softly. "You do know how to order pizza, I'll give you that."

"So are you and Stewart okay?"

"We're okay, but he's mad at me and I'm annoyed with him."

"I'm sure it isn't as bad as you think," Lorelei said trying to soothe her daughter.

"I just don't know if I want to be linked to these people forever. I don't know if I want this woman to be the grandmother to my kids," Rory said as she unlocked the door to her apartment. She closed the door softly because it was the middle of the night and she didn't want to wake her neighbors.

"May I point out something that you don't want to hear?" Lorelei asked carefully.

"Sure. Why not?" Rory grumbled.

'Well, back when you were with Logan, his family was horrific and you never questioned if you wanted to be with him because of them. You were willing to put up with Mussolini for him."

Rory sighed deeply and said softly, "Well, that was Logan and this is different."

"Right," Lorelei said quietly.

"Mom?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think I'm settling?"

"For Stewart?

"Yeah."

"Well, if you're asking me that, I think YOU think you're settling. And my kid doesn't settle," Lorelei said. "If you think you want out, do it now. Do it before there is legal stuff to be undone to kick him to the curb."

"I don't want to 'kick him to the curb,' Rory scoffed. "I just wonder if I'm making the right decision."

"Do you remember that night in the carriage ride? The night Logan proposed?" Lorelei asked.

"Yes. I remember ever minute of that day," Rory said with an exhale.

"Do you remember what I said? That one day you wouldn't hesitate and you would just know that you were making the right decision."

"I remember," Rory admitted. "But I don't know if I agree with you. Split second decisions are how you make decisions - I like to think things through and make my lists and you know..."

"Yep, I know. But still, I think when its right, you won't hesitate and you will know right away what to do. Its what I did with Luke - you know, the third time, when we finally DID get married. Don't be like me, Kid. Don't wait too long to be happy," Lorelei said wistfully.

"But didn't you finally get everything you want?" Rory asked.

Lorelei took a minute and looked over at Luke sleeping next to her and quietly said, "Yes. Finally."

"Hey, Mom?"

Lorelei asked Rory, "Yeah?"

"What if I told you that I still miss Logan? I miss him all the time and I probably always will. And Finn told me that we both finally live in New York..."
