After a few minutes of waiting, the teapot finally began to whistle, announcing with its shrill call that the tea was ready. Master Splinter slowly rose from his chair and with his usual calm poured the warm citrus-flavored liquid into his cup and those of his two sons sitting next to him. He had spent the last quarter of an hour listening to the frenetic story of the adventure they had just experienced: Raphael and Michelangelo were just finishing narrating their meeting with Shitsu and Leatherhead's anger, and how the snake-woman had handled him with a single shot.
- You should have seen it Master! She didn't even bat an eye! She grabbed him with her tail and - swish! - she knocked him out with one move! -, Michelangelo spoke quickly, emphasizing his words with body movements, as if he wanted to imitate the woman's flick of the tail; he was still overexcited by that matter, he hadn't even let Splinter finish his meditation to tell him all the details.
Raphael nodded from time to time to confirm his younger brother's words, sometimes commenting with details noted from his point of view: - Yep, it was amazing. Then she suddenly put him to sleep, pressing a point on his neck. Leatherhead collapsed on the floor and didn't wake up for at least a couple of hours and was as calm as ever... as calm as a mutant crocodile like him can be considered to be -, he added after thinking about it.
Splinter listened to their words patiently and in silence, sipping his tea and reflecting on what his sons were telling him.
- It seems that this... woman has really impressed you -, he commented once his children had quieted down, - But you also said that she comes from dimension X, as do the Kraang. How do you know she isn't a threat? -, he added, fixing his gaze first on Michelangelo and then on Raphael, studying their reactions.
Raphael and Michelangelo exchanged glances, as if only now realizing that possibility.
- And yet she seems so good...-, Michelangelo murmured, losing his enthusiasm, - In short...she had me in her coils -literally- twice, but she never did anything bad to me. If she really knew the Kraang she would have led me to them or killed me to eat me, right? He even fed us and didn't poison us -, he turned his gaze towards Raphael, seeking confirmation of his theories about him.
The older brother returned his thoughtful gaze with a more confident one, giving him a light pat on the arm from under the table, as if wanting to give him support without being seen. - Miky is right Master. She had all the opportunities he wanted but never took advantage of them. If she had wanted she could have easily captured us both. She knocked Leatherhead down with one blow, she wouldn't have had any problem knocking us out as well, would she? -.
Splinter thoughtfully smoothed his thin beard, his gaze lost in an imprecise point on the floor, while he pondered what to do; after a few seconds, he seemed to make a decision: - Very good, it means that the next time you go to visit her, I'll come with you. I want to get to know this...Shitsu and make sure myself that she is not dangerous -.
The two brothers exchanged a surprised look, before smiling enthusiastically.
- Great idea Sensei! - exclaimed Raphael.
- Yes! I can't wait to introduce you to her! You'll see, you'll immediately like her! -, added Michelangelo with the same energy, before grabbing his brother and dragging him behind him with unexpected enthusiasm,
- Come on bro! We need to tell others too! I can't wait to see their face when they realize I was right about her! -.
The mouse watched with an amused smile as the two teens left the small kitchen, before becoming serious again: he didn't feel any negative premonitions regarding that story, but he would still be cautious and, if it was necessary, he would act accordingly to protect his children from any threat.
