Sunday morning , Paige excused herself from the video call , with Louise and Sean , after about thirty minutes and made her way to the kitchen .
Louise was still interested in Rosilee and with some very clever questions , she began to get Rosilee to tell them her story . She had been married at 18 , to an American navy pilot , who was four years , older than herself . They had a happy marriage , although a lot of it had been a long distance relationship as her husband was a serving member of the navy air force , he was at sea for many months at a time on various aircraft carriers . Four years after their marriage , he was stationed on an aircraft carrier close to the coast of Vietnam . Flying missions over North Vietnam , he was shot down on his third mission , over some heavily wooded area in North Vietnam . No trace was found of him , his name never appeared on any prisoner of war lists . Although Rosilee always kept the belief he was alive for many years , even after the war finished . By 1980 she accepted that her husband was dead .
However she never had any interest in another man and lived a life as a widow . She spent her time at work , she had plenty of different jobs , mainly in retail . As she received a widow's pension from the navy once she reached 60 she decided to retire , To reduce her costs she gave up a three bedroom apartment and moved to her current apartment . When Paige had moved into the same block of apartments , they sort of became friends , then when Ralph had been born and Drew seemed to be away from home more than at home. Rosilee had become a sort of surrogate mom to Paige .
Louise had thanked her for looking after their soon to be daughter when she needed help . Walter had not really said a lot during the call , he was content just to have Megan in his arms . Ralph took a lot of interest In Rosilee's story .
Just before the video call was coming to an end , Paige came back in from the kitchen . " Sorry I had to leave you ,but I had something I needed to do . I hope Walter as been behaving himself . " She said a big smile on her face .
Louise answered . " Well Walter as not spoken a lot to us , but we have had a very interesting story from Rosilee .
" All good I hope ? " Paige asked .
" Yes she was telling us about herself . " Louise replied .
Paige gave Walter a look . " Why did you not speak to your parents . "
Walter looked back at her . " Well Rosilee was telling such an interesting story , I did not want to interrupt her . "
A smile returned to Paige's face . " Fair enough . " She turned back to the screen . " Would you like to see what Cabe and Allie bought Megan yesterday , we have yet to open it will be a surprise to all of us . "
Louise a big smile on her face . " Oh yes please . "
Paige turned to Ralph . " Would you please fetch the parcel for me please .
Ralph got up and walked over to the parcel he bought it back to Paige , who showed it to Megan .
" Do you want to see what Gda and Gma as bought you ?"
Megan pointed at the parcel , then back at herself . Paige moved to the side of Walter and knelt down and put package down on the floor , Walter moved so he could show Megan the parcel . Paige began to unwrap the parcel , Megan began to clap her hands in excitement and her face broke out in a smile .
Paige removed all the paper and exposed the box , at first Megan's face lost it's smile and she seemed to lose interest in it . Paige opened the box and pulled the walker out , as she did Megan's face broke into a smile . Paige put the walker on the floor , untangled the straps and straighten the material that ran from front to back of the walker . She stood up and gently took Megan from Walter's arms . at first Megan seemed confused , as Paige fastened her in , she began to call Ral,Ral .
Ralph immediately got up of the sofa and knelt down by Megan . " What is it little sis ? "
Megan looked at him and rocked back and forward .
" This is not your stroller , you will have to do the work yourself . " He told Megan , who looked up at him and pouted .
Ralph got behind the walker , on his knees , reached over and gently took hold of each of Megan's legs and slowly moved her one leg forward , then the other one , her feet were only just touching the floor , so the walker did not move very far . But Megan seemed to be pleased as she began to giggle , she managed one more step , with a little help from Ralph . She then put her arms out and began to shout Da, Da. Walter was there in seconds and after releasing the straps gently picked her up .
Ralph smiled " I think she needs to grow a little more , only her toes were reaching the floor , but I am sure in a couple of months , we are going to have to watch our ankles , we could end up with a few bruises . "
Everyone were totally amazed just how well Ralph had helped Megan . Louise and Sean both had tears running down their cheeks .
As soon as Walter picked Megan up she put her arms around his neck and planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek . Walter smiled at her . " What was that for little princess ? " Megan smiled back at him and did the same thing again .
Everyone by now had big smiles on their faces . Walter carried Megan back to the sofa and sat down again , everyone said goodbye and Paige disconnected the call .
Paige turned to Rosilee . " I know it is your last day , so I wondered if you would like to take a ride around Los Angeles . We can use Walter's car as it is so much bigger than mine . Then I would love it if you would come with us on a beach picnic , on our special part of the beach . It is not to far to walk from the car park and I did pick up a folding chair for you to sit on . We prefer to sit on blankets on the sand . "
Rosilee's face broke into a smile . " I think that would be absolutely fine . But I think I should maybe change my shoes. "
" I presume you two are happy with that ? " Paige told Walter and Ralph .
" As if we had a choice . " Walter told her with a ig smile on his face .
Ralph also with a big smile on his face told her . " I concur . "
This bought a smile to Rosilee's face . Ralph had to ask a question . " But what about the food ? "
Paige ruffled his hair . " What do you think I was doing while you were talking to grandma and grandpa . I bought some cooked meat and cheese , so I have made sandwiches , plus there is the left over potato salad , slaw and salad from last night . . There is coffee for the adults , soda for you and some diluted orange for Megan . I am sure that should suffice .
Ralph just smiled and nodded his head . Paige gently removed Megan from Walter's arms , for which Megan showed some displeasure .
Ralph leaned over . " Little sis , mommy just wants to check you are nice and clean for a car trip and a visit to the beach . "
" I will come up with you Paige so I can change my shoes . " Rosilee told her
Paige even though she was carrying Megan still helped Rosilee up the stairs , just in case .
" I will knock on your door , when I am ready to go down , so please wait . " Paige told her
Thirty five minutes later she was knocking on Rosilee's bedroom door , she had changed Megan and expressed some milk for Megan's lunchtime feed .
When they went back to the living room , Walter and Ralph were in a discussion about Ralph's idea of the one gallon water filter .
" Are you two ready ? " Paige asked .
Walter left with Paige and helped get all the food , chair and Megan's stroller plus the now famous blue bag , in the back of Walter's Range Rover .
Megan was put in her car seat , Ralph sat next to her and with a little help from Walter Rosilee sat next to Ralph . Once Walter and Paige were belted up in the front , they set off on a tour of Los Angeles , the one place Paige wanted to show Rosilee was the garage were Scorpion used to work out of ,although she would only be able to see the outside . After about a hour of driving around , Walter headed towards the beach , because of were their little trip had ended up it took Walter nearly half a hour to react the parking area , close to their favourite beach area . Walter carried Megan in her car seat plus the folding chair for Rosilee.
Paige carried the picnic food and Ralph the blue bag , plus two blankets . Paige stayed close to Rosilee her one hand gently holding her left arm . Once they got to the spot on the beach , Paige put the picnic bag down and took the fold up chair from Walter , opened it and helped Rosilee to sit ,down in it . Once Paige had made sure that Rosilee felt safe and comfortable , she took one of the blankets off Ralph and spread it on the sand . once she was satisfied she took the other blanket and put that one alongside the other one . Walter put Megan in her car seat next to the blanket Paige moved the picnic bag onto the blanket .
Walter , Paige and Ralph all settled on the blanket . Rosilee looked across at the four of them , what an attractive family they make , she thought before beginning to speak .
" It seems a nice quiet spot , what makes it so special for you ? "
Paige looked at Walter and smiled , Walter smiled back and nodded his head .
Before speaking Paige gave him a quick peck on the cheek , she turned around to Rosilee , as she spoke she pointed . " See that slab of concrete over there. Well that is were Walter launched his sister's ashes into space and in doing so he lost $15million .
Rosilee's face looked shocked . " He fired his sister's ashes into space and lost $15milloin at the same time ! "
Paige looked at Walter . " I think you had better explain . "
Walter did not look very happy , but managed a smile . " Well my sister is the reason I am in America , at a young age . She developed M.S. and the best treatment was in the States , I managed to get enough money for her treatment . In 2014 a prize of $15Million was offered for a design to increase the power of rockets . I managed to find an old Russian rocket for sale in 2015 , so I bought it and began working on it . "
" I helped as well . " An excited Ralph shouted .
That bought a big smile to Walter's face . " You sure did buddy . " Walter told him as he ruffled his hair , he turned back to Rosilee .
" We redesigned the propulsion system and sent it in to the organisers of the competition , but we heard nothing . In the meantime , Sly a member of Scorpion married my sister , but soon after she died . Before I had time or a chance to save her .
Anyway we returned from a job on Christmas eve a couple of years ago , I had a meltdown . Paige calmed me down . I then checked my answerphone and there was a message to say our design had won the competition and people would be coming over after Christmas to see the actual throttle we had designed .
But in the end , I decided , with the backing of everyone , that it was Megan's rocket . So with Sly , being her husband , decided to send Megan's ashes into the stars , a place she loved to look at . So with the help from all the team and understanding , we launched them into space that night . It was the saddest yet strangely happiest I had felt for a long time . So now it is our special place . "
As Rosilee had listened , tears had began to roll down her cheek , with a voice full of sadness . " That must be the biggest show of love for a sister by a brother I have ever heard . I think now I can understand why Ralph shows so much love for his sister Megan , a lot of you as rubbed onto Ralph . "
She gently wiped the tears from her face with her fingers . Everyone was quite for a while , then Megan uttered Gma . , pointed and shook her head .
Rosilee smiled . " You want me to stop crying ? " She asked .
Megan just giggled . After all this they all settled down and Paige got the food and drinks out and distributed it amongst everyone , including Megan who again had a small piece of bread covered in spread .
Once they had finished eating and drinking and Paige had put all the remains back into the picnic bag . She reached into the blue bag and pulled out the insulated bottle of milk .
She pulled the bottle from it and handed it to Walter . " Do you want to feed Megan .
A big smile came on his face . " You know very well I would love to feed her . But I was wondering if Rosilee might like to give Megan her bottle , as she has not had an opportunity to feed Megan . "
Paige gave him a big smile . " What a beautiful thing to suggest Walter , you are really expanding in the E.Q. stakes . Rosilee would you like to try and give Megan her bottle . "
A big smile broke out on Rosilee face . " You would trust me with this precious little thing ? " She asked .
Paige picked Megan out of her car seat and gently placed her in Rosilee's arms , then moved her position slightly and then gave Rosilee the bottle . " I should warn you , she can be a little stubborn taking the bottle with anybody except Walter , so you may have to offer the bottle to her a few times before she will accept it . "
Rosilee offered the bottle to Megan , who immediately turned her head away from the teat on the bottle . She tried twice more and Megan still moved her head away .
Ralph stood up and walked over to Megan and knelt down besides Rosilee . " Hey little sis , be good to grandma , she will be going home tomorrow , this is the only chance she will get to feed you . Da,Da, wants you to be a good little girl , so let grandma feed you . "
Megan put her hand out and Ralph gently took hold of it and immediately she took the teat into her mouth and began sucking the milk ,
Ralph stayed by her until she had finished all the milk , as soon as she could not get any more milk out of the bottle , she let go of Ralph's hand and uttered Gma,Gma. Ralph got up and went and sat back on the blanket . Paige removed Megan from Rosilee arms , so she could wind her .
Rosilee a smile still on her face . " Thank you Paige for allowing me to do that . I must say Ralph certainly as a real strong connection to Megan , when you consider their age difference . Most children of his age , especially boys , seem to want to be as far as possible away from their younger siblings .
Paige a very proud look on her face . " Well considering how he was when you knew him , he amazes me with what he his capable of . Most of it is down to Walter . "
Walter just said . " You deserve as much if not more of the praise . "
They all sat in comparative silence for the next thirty minutes . Megan was purring in Walter's arms .
Paige turned to Rosilee . " It as been so good to see you again , I just wish we had not lost contact , please do not lose contact again . I thought I had got my mom back in my life a couple of years ago , when she sort me out , at first I was mad at her , but she won me round , it then turned out she was still up to her old tricks and her past caught up with her . With help from Walter and Homeland , we had to fake her death and put her into a witness protection house , so I have lost contact again .
Rosilee forced a smile . " I am sorry , but I had no way of knowing were you had gone . But I intend to keep in touch with you and your new beautiful family , I could maybe get one of those things you use to keep in touch with Walter's family . "
Paige smiled . " You mean a computer , but you would need an internet connection in your apartment to work it . "
" Oh , I don't have that , I don't even have a mobile phone , but I do have my landline so I can call you on that . " Rosilee told her .
Walter and Ralph had been listening to the conversation .
Ralph looked at Walter . " We could give grandma , one of the tablets we took from the garage , I think we found four or five , I am sure you could hack into someone's WI. FI in the block when you go back with her tomorrow . "
" That is a good idea we can check when we get home . "
Paige turned to Walter and mouthed " Thank you . "
After a further thirty minutes , they left the beach and made their way home .
Once at home , Paige told Rosilee they wanted to take her to Kovelsky's for their evening meal . Rosilee liked the idea . But would like a rest first , Paige helped her up to her bedroom , made sure she was comfortable and left her to get some rest .
Walter sent Ralph into the garage to sort out a tablet .
" While Ralph is out of the way , how do you feel about him missing school tomorrow , so we can all go back with Rosilee and make sure she is settled . " Walter asked Paige .
A big smile broke out on Paige's face . " What a beautiful idea , but would Richard be alright about it . " Paige asked .
" I will phone him , so he can let the pilot know about the extra passengers as it might effect the fuel needed . I will go into the dining room and ring him in case he says no , then we will not need to disappoint Ralph . "
Richard picked up on the second ring . " Good afternoon Walter , all's well I hope . "
" Yes , it as been a perfect weekend , I just wanted to know if it would be alright for the family to fly back with Rosilee tomorrow ? "
" No problem at all, I will contact the pilot once I put down the phone to forewarn him . I will see you Tuesday and you can fill me in on your weekend . Now just get back to your family and guest . " At that Richard cut the call .
Walter went back into the living room , Ralph was back and was busy checking out the tablet , he had found in the garage .
Paige almost ran up to Walter and flung her arms around Walter's neck . " Well ? "
" No problem , it's a go . "
Paige planted a quick kiss on his lips and turned to Ralph .
" What are you doing at school tomorrow ? " She asked Ralph .
" Not much . " The sort of answer he always seemed to say .
" Would you like to go back with Rosilee tomorrow then ? "
" You bet , maybe we can set up the tablet for her to video call us . Can't we dad ? "
" Lets hope so . " Walter replied .
Paige told them both she was going to phone Cabe and Allie to tell them about Megan and the walker .
At 6.00pm Paige went up to see if Rosilee was rested and to tell her they intended to leave at 7.00pm. She knocked on her door , Rosilee told her to come in . Rosilee was sitting on the chair that was in the room , she had changed into what she told Paige was her Sunday best . Which bought a smile to Paige's face .
" Kovelsky's is not a five star restaurant it is more of a mom and pop eating place .
" My dear Paige , I just did not want to let you down , because what ever you wear you always look beautiful . "
" Thank you Rosilee , as you are ready do you want to come down and sit with us . "
" Yes please , I feel fully refreshed now . "
Ralph was quick to show Rosilee the tablet he had found for her ,in the garage , at the moment it was on charge , so he could not show her how it worked . But what pleased her the most was when Ralph told her the whole family were going to fly back with her the next day .
Paige had gone upstairs to feed and change Megan . Once she came back down , they all climbed into Walter's Range Rover and made their way to Kovelsky's .
Mrs Kovelsky was pleased to meet Rosilee . Rosilee was treated as a special guest and was still fascinated by Megan sharing Walter's food .
They were back home just after 9.00pm . Megan had again fallen asleep before the meal had finished , so Paige had taken her straight upstairs to change her into her nightwear and put her in her cot .
Rosilee had followed Paige up , helped by Walter . Ralph had also gone to bed excited by the plane ride the next day .
Paige and Walter came back down stairs and shared a cuddle and a little quiet time together . But soon the two of them were on their way to bed .
