Toshinori didn't know what was going on when he got a call from Hilda telling him to meet her and the others at the Police District. The Symbol of Peace feared the worst but he relaxed somewhat when he saw his successor and her friends all safe.
However, what confused him was both Izuku and Sumiko consoling a small girl who looked no older than five or six. Judging by the look in her eyes, the poor girl must have been through something seriously traumatizing but the presence of the young heroes-in-training eased her.
"I came as soon as I got the message. What happened?" Toshinori asked, getting the teens' attention.
"Well, we were all just hanging out when I felt this malicious intent with my Haki. I ran to the source to find a little girl running away from these thugs wearing plague doctor masks. They pointed guns at us so we basically had free reign to take them out in self-defense." Izuku explained with as much detail as he could.
"Oh my! You know All-Might?" A girl with curly orange hair, green eyes, and freckles chimed in. "How sensational!"
Toshinori looked confused, especially since this girl apparently knew he was All-Might. However, the Chief Detective of this police district, Naomasa Tsukauchi, was a close and trusted friend of his, so he didn't mind too much.
"Impressive deduction...who are you?"
"Oh, this is Penny. We met her before everything went crazy." Kohaku explained.
"Also, this is Eri. She's the girl we rescued." Yaato explained as the little girl in question was hugging Izuku.
"Poor girl is terrified. She also doesn't seem to trust medical equipment." Sumiko added. "She nearly went into a panic attack when the doctors drew blood for a DNA test. I had to calm her down with the Peace Amulet."
"They didn't take that much blood. Don't they need more?" Eri whispered, her face buried in Izuku's chest.
"They only need a small amount to examine it. They just need a sample to check for diseases."
"Toshi, is that you?"
Toshinori smiled and turned to see Naomasa himself walk in. The detective had taken off his hat and coat and had a mug of coffee in hand.
"Naomasa, so good to see you again!" The Symbol of Peace smiled. "Have you gotten anything from those fiends who attacked the kids?"
"Not much but we did confiscate their gear. One of them had a gun loaded with a strange needle injector. Forensics managed to scan the contents and it's some kind of unique chemical compound that directly attacks the Quirk gene."
Toshinori frowned. "So what you're saying is that injector was filled with what can be called a 'Quirk Killer'."
"It gets worse..." Naomasa said. "After we managed to get that little girl's DNA, we saw that the Quirk Killer formula matched with it."
"You mean to tell me that someone was harvesting that girl's blood to make this?" Toshinori asked in a sickened tone. "Whoever they are, they won't get away with this!"
"It's Overhaul, acting leader of the Shie Hassakai."
Everyone turned and both Toshinori and Naomasa were surprised to see who it was; a tall, lanky gentleman with green hair that had streaks of yellow, glasses, a red tie with white polka dots, and was dressed like an everyday accountant.
"Mirai..."
"Hello, Toshi. Been a long time." The man said, a somber look on his face. "But we can save pleasantries for later. That girl until recently, was in the custody of Kai Chisaki, codename Overhaul."
"No way! It's Sir Nighteye, All-Might's former sidekick before he became a full-fledged Pro in his own right!" Izuku exclaimed excitedly as Eri looked confused.
"And you must be Izuku Midoriya, the boy who was once thought lost at sea ten years ago." Nighteye noted as Toshinori's eyes widened, memories returning to him of rushing with Selkie to stop a fight between Sanjuan Wolf and Brynddi World...and two children drifting off on a small little raft.
"Now I know why he looked so familiar...and Young Hayashi as well!"
Toshinori could mentally kick himself for forgetting later. Right now, a little girl had just been rescued from the clutches of a dangerous villain and they needed answers.
"Anyway, I've been investigating Overhaul and his group for a while now," Nighteye explained to everyone. "So far, it's been a game of cat and mouse stuck in a stalemate. But because of these children's accidental involvement, fortune seems to now be favoring us."
"But why would Overhaul want to create these Quirk Killers?" Toshinori asked. "And what does it have to do with using Young Eri's blood?"
Eri having remained silent this whole town was keeping her eyes on the ground.
"Eri" She looked up to see Izuku in front of her. "If it's too painful you don't have to tell us but we need that information, so please will you let us?"
Eri didn't say anything for a moment and just as Izuku was about to ask again, she nodded slowly. With a quick thank you he used the power of the [Memo-Memo Fruit] to extract the memories from the young girl. Eri let out a gasp when she saw the film reel being pulled out of her head while Nighteye looked rather intrigued, finding comparisons to his own Quirk, [Foresight].
Everyone soon took a look at Eri's memories and what they saw horrified them all to no end; the poor girl had been medically abused by Overhaul to make the Quirk Killer. But beyond that, he had been mentally breaking her down to dissuade any notion of running away. The poor child had every reason to believe that Overhaul would kill whoever was between her and him.
Toshinori himself could never remember a time he was this angry, even when his beloved master had been killed, because whereas that was a hero doing what was right this was a child being tortured and abused.
"If only I'd known..." Nighteye muttered weakly, taking off his glasses to show the haunted look in his eyes.
"That explains the bandages..." Sumiko whispered as Izuku put the memories back in Eri, an apologetic look on his face.
"Eri...I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Nobody has to suffer like that, especially not you."
Izuku suddenly shocked Eri when he pulled her into a firm, gentle embrace. The little girl didn't know how to process this before tears welled up in her eyes and she hugged him back, letting out massive wails of pent-up anguish and pain which broke everyone's hearts.
"What's worse is this; If everything we've just learned is true, then if Overhaul does indeed intend to mass-produce this...Quirk Killer... Then it's likely his goal is nothing short of the eradication of hero society itself." Naomasa pointed out.
Suddenly, everyone noticed that Ben was writing something in a notepad he had pulled out. He saw everyone's curious looks and simply put the notepad away.
"Sorry, just writing a bill for this fuckhead to pay when we face him."
"LANGUAGE!" Kohaku snapped, covering Eri's ears.
"Absolutely not!" Nighteye said firmly. "You may have gotten a pass with self-defense when rescuing the girl but this is hero business and you kids don't even have your licenses yet!"
"Mirai, please." Toshinori said to his old sidekick. "I trust Young Midoriya and the others. Besides, they have powers that could prove beneficial to dealing with whatever Overhaul has in store for us."
Nighteye looked like he wanted to protest but then Izuku spoke up in his and the rest of his crew's defense as well.
"Sir Nighteye, when I was shipwrecked with Hibiki, I ate a fruit that granted me a large myriad of magical powers. One faction of those powers is called Logia and it allows me to create, manipulate, and transform into different elements. With them, Overhaul wouldn't be much of a problem."
"Yes, Overhaul's Quirk, which has the same name as his title, allows him to disassemble and reassemble solid matter with a touch. This includes human bodies." Nighteye said. "Alright, I guess I can give you a pass to use your... 'Quirks' to help in dealing with this situation."
"Indeed. With the evidence we've just gathered, we can hit the base of the Shie Hassakai as early as tonight." Naomasa nodded.
"But what will we do with Eri?" Hibiki asked worriedly as the little girl had now taken a seat on her lap.
"She can live with us!" Chikara said. "We have plenty of room on our ship and Maetel and Dorothy can keep her safe while we put the screws to this creep!"
During the conversationHilda had taken Eri and let her nestle into her stomach, the little girl finally cracking a smile as how comfy she was. The sight of her smile warmed the hearts of all in the area.
"I want one." Hilda said to Ben, who blushed.
"I too would like an adorable little one of my own." Penny sai,d which made Ben turn nuclear red.
"Oh my….!" Sumiko giggled
"….Guys?" Izuku asked.
"Got it Cappy. Protect her happiness with our lives and be DARN PROUD OF IT!" Yaato said.
"SSSSH!" Hibiki shushed her friend, pointing to the now stirring Eri.
"Oh, way to go, a-hole!" Riku grumbled. "You woke the chibi up! I hope you're happy!"
Riku gently knelt down in front of the stirring Eri and removed her blindgood. Eri, half asleep, was mesemerized by her eyes and then the kind face on the girl, who waited for her to wait a moment and pulled out a small box.
"Would you like a cookie, Eri?" Hibiki asked, giggling melodiouisly when Eri happily took the box and devouring the cookies inside, crumbs all over her face.
"Awww!" Everyone cooed.
"Good appetite on ya, kiddo." Hilda beamed, lightly messing with Eri's hair.
Penny the stepped forward and began to leviatate, offering Eri a flight. With some coaxing, the poior girl accepted and was soon squealing as Penny flew through the air
"Oy! Don't leave me out!" Riku hollered as he lepat skywards…go9ing right through the roof.
"RIKU, YOU IDIOT!" His friends, minus a worried Hibiki, roared.
Penny raced after the boy with Eri in her arms….
They found Riku waiting for them, hurriedly flappi ng tails as he tried the juggle stranged looking orbs, each made of a different element as he sang a circus tune.\
"ooooo!" Eri beamed in awe juts as Riku's tails gave out and he started to fall back to the ground.
"WHY DIDN'T I USE THE SEVEN WIIIIIIIIIII…!?" Riku started, only for…
SPLAT!
"OOOOH!" Everyone winded.
"…I'm…Okay!" Riku manged as he oulled himself upward, just in time for Penny to land and hand Eri to Kohaku.
"Riku-kun! Be careful!" Hibiki cooed in worry of her…friend? Crush? Beloved?
"Oh relax. You know I heal fast, Biki-chan." Riku beamed at his friend. His very pretty friend.
Seeing them interact like they were reminded Eri of her mama and papa, so she asked the two, rather innocently:
"Are you going to marry Mr. Riku, Miss Hibiki?"
Hibiki and Riku clammed up and turned away, blushing.
"Ooooo!" Their friends and even All Might himself and a few detectives cooed.
"SHUT IT!" Riku snapped at his friends.
DEVIL
Later that night, the raid team had all assembled. There were over 200 police officers as well as plenty of Pro Heroes, including Death Arms, Kamui Woods, Best Jeanist, Gang Orca, Ryuukyuu, Fat Gum, Rock Lock, Majestic, X-Less, Mr. Brave, Kesagiri Man, Crust, and even the rising rookie sensation, Mount Lady.
Hilda and Ben had opted to stay with Eri back at the summer house to keep her safe alongside Dorothy and Maetel. Izuku, Hibiki, Riku, and the Seraphim were all accompanying the raid team since they were given permission by Nighteye and All-Might to assist.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to bring children into this?" Rock Lock asked. "It doesn't sit right with me."
"Believe me, I was skeptical as well." Nighteye clarified. "But these children claim to have skills that will make taking down Overhaul's base of operation easier."
"Okay, but what's she doing here?" X-Less asked as he gestured to Penny, who was also there.
"She's...a special case."
"Mind if a Vigilante joins in?"
Everyone suddenly looked to see a familiar cloaked man in black jump down. It was the Quirk Judge, the police and some of the Pros present were prepared to apprehend him but All-Might held out a hand to stop them.
"I see you heard the news as well?"
"They were torturing a goddamn child. I've got a bill they need to pay."
Those words caused Izuku and his crew's eyes to perk up, remembering what Ben had said earlier.
"Sorry, just writing a bill for this fuckhead to pay when we face him."
"Well, with your Quirk, this will be a snap!" All-Might said as Nighteye stood beside him with a skeptical look.
"Toshi, are you sure? Don't you know his power is way too similar to HIS?"
"He saved Young Yasakani from Gus the Ogre when she risked her life to save a family he was holding hostage. I'd say he's more than trustworthy."
Nighteye sighed before turning to the Quirk Judge. "Alright, if All-Might says he can trust you, then I guess I have no say in the matter. But if you try ANYTHING, I will not hesitate to bring you in."
"Duly noted."
"Man, not even at UA and we're already helping the Pros and police out on a mission!" Yaato said. "Talk about pressure."
"That's never stopped you before, has it?" Kazuya noted.
"Kazu-Kun, will you be okay?" Izuku asked. "It's nighttime and we know you're Qui...I mean, Meta Ability only works at its best when it's daytime."
"Don't worry, Izu-Kun." Kazuya smiled reassuringly. "Dr. Vegapunk and Sumiko helped me come up with a technique to help store my power in case of a...nightly excursion."
All talking soon ceased as All-Might stepped forward to speak to everyone.
"Heroes! Thank you all for coming! As we all know the men in this factory have been threatening the society we know today. The Leader Kai Chisaki aka Overhaul is trying to revert the world into the time before Quirks and take over! On top of that, he has been torturing and abusing a small child to harvest her DNA to make what he needs for his twisted plan!"
Many police and Pros muttered in horror at what they heard, especially in regard to the abuse Eri went through.
"That's why we are here to destroy the base and capture everyone involved. The police will deal with the common thugs, heroes our jobs are to take down Overhaul's elite guard, the Eight Precepts of Death, and finally, because they possess skills that can make Overhaul's Quirk meaningless these brave young heroes will deal with Overhaul."
Izuku stepped up along with Hibiki, Riku, the Seraphim, the Quirk Judge, and Penny. Some police and heroes were still not too keen on having aid from a Vigilante but they'd let it slide since All-Might was vouching for him.
"Alright, as long as we're in agreement, let us begin!" All-Might said as he turned to the front gates and pulled his fist back. "TEXAS SMASH!"
