Ch 7

Superman met up with Batman the next night and Superman tried to explain that they were all being tricked by Lex but Batman didn't believe him and the fight was on.

Batman charged but Superman easily pushed him aside, then lifted Batman over his head and punched him down the street before tackling Batman in the air and throwing him right through the Bat-Signal in a shower of sparks.

"Stay down." Superman said. "If I wanted you dead, I would have killed you already."

However, Batman refused and threw a smoke grenade, then got behind Superman and fired a Kryptonite gas grenade right into Superman's face.

"AAH!" Superman screamed in pain, then was sent flying by a roundhouse kick from Batman who easily blocked Superman's punches, then kicked down Superman and stomped him through the floor as pieces of shredded wood flew everywhere.

However, Superman still fought and knocked Batman through another floor, then zoomed into Batman, smashing him through multiple walls as pieces of debris spewed out.

Batman and Superman then had another fistfight before Batman kicked Superman away, then fired another gas grenade to weaken him.

Batman then grabbed a sink, wrenched it off, and slammed it down on Superman's head, forcing him down before stomping down hard on Superman and raising his glowing Kryptonite spear.

Superman still fought back and kicked Batman back but Batman elbow slammed him right out of the building, then punched him in the face and kicked him before stomping down on him again.

""I bet your parents taught you that you mean something." Batman taunted as he stood over the defeated alien. "That you're here for a reason. My parents taught me a different lesson, dying in the gutter for no reason at all. They taught me the world only makes sense if you force it to. You were never a god. You were never even a man!"

Then Superman saved himself the only way he knew how.

"Save Martha." he gasped out.

Batman did a double-take in shock. That was the name of his mother.

"Why did you say that name? WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!" Batman yelled.

"It's his mother's name!" another voice said.

Then Lois had come and revealed that Lex had forced Superman to fight Batman since Lex had Superman's mother hostage.

Batman's hands trembled as he looked at the Kryptonite spear.

All this talk about killing the threat and now he had just realized that he had become the threat himself by nearly throwing away everything he stood for.

Then Batman yelled and threw his spear away and it soared through the air before splashing into Gotham River.

He had messed up but now it was the time to set everything right.
