Chapter 5: Confrontation on Mustafar
Master Yoda comforted the scared Younglings and instructed them they must go with Senator Orgona to Polis Massa the Asteroid Facility.
Obi-Wan went on his way to the landing facilities to meet Anakin later to confront the Chancellor on Mustafar.
And speaking of Anakin when he went to Padme's apartment he hadn't seen her since before the attack on the Jedi Temple she was worried sick about him given she saw the smoke from her apartment…
But seeing his ship park by her patio, Padme gasped in relief and ran out to him and embraced him.
We get the part where Padme asks what's happening at the Jedi Temple only comes later when it did in the original version and Anakin gives Padme a different answer given he didn't turn to the dark side in this.
"The Chancellor is the Sith Lord that we've been looking for." Anakin said.
"What?" I can't believe that." Padme said.
"I'm afraid it's true. He's been manipulating everything from the start. The War. The Debate. Everything. He even knows about us." Anakin said.
"How is that possible?" Padme asked.
"He's been trying to tempt me to the dark side since I was a kid. He even planned your assassination with the Separatists. He's even the once that conjured those nightmares I had about you making me believe I can save you with the Dark Side." Anakin said.
"So all of this was all cause of him? This…Bale and Marmothma have been trying to stop the Debate for awhile and I didn't know why tell me. They didn't want me telling you this but…they been trying to rebel against the debate to stop the Chancellor. I didn't know how to feel about it because Chancellor Palpatine has been one of my oldest advisers. He served me as my ambassador as Queen." Padme said.
"I know how you feel. He has befriended me since my arrival here. In fact he was there for me when my mother died too. But he used us all. And now he's turned the Public against the Jedi and sent the clones to kill us all. Many Jedi at the temple were killed last night. Master Windu and Shaak Ti too. She died saving my life." Anakin explained.
"What about Obi-Wan?" Padme asked.
"Obi-Wan's alive. And Master Yoda. He gathered the Younglings to Polis Massa but the Chancellor had left the Mustafar System with the Separatists. Obi-Wan and I are going there to end this war and wait for me till I return." Anakin said.
Padme worried but having faith in Anakin nodded with a tear streaming down her face and kissed her husband.
Anakin looked at his wife before looking down at her stomach knowing from Qui-Gon force Ghost she was carrying twins and Padme didn't know yet but Anakin did he touched her stomach with a tear falling from his eyes…
And then left for his ship with R2-D2 and C-3PO asking Padme if there's anything he can do for her like in the original version and Padme replying…
"No, thank you 3PO." Padme said.
Later Anakin met up with Obi-Wan at the Landing pad and had a ship ready for Anakin to pilot.
"Are we ready to go?" Anakin asked.
"Everything's set. But…Anakin I can't help but to feel you should stay." Obi-Wan said.
"What'd you talk about?" Anakin asked.
"Anakin…I didn't want to say anything cause I didn't want you or Padme to be worried. I know you're the father of her child." Obi-Wan said.
Anakin's eyes widened that his mentor and brother figure had known about his secret relationship with Padme all this time.
"How long have you known?" Anakin asked.
"Long enough. But my point is…Padme needs you more than I do. Your child needs you." Obi-Wan said.
"Master, the Chancellor knows about Padme and me too. He's been tempting me to turn to the dark side using nightmares of her he conjured in my head. I have to go, Master. If you fail to stop him he'll come for us." Anakin said.
Obi-Wan looked at Anakin realizing he's right besides remembering what he told Master Yoda earlier that they stand a better chance against Palpatine together.
"I understand. Then let's end this together. May the Force be with us both." Obi-Wan said.
And soon they boarded their ship Anakin piloted the controls and left for Mustafar.
But there Palpatine had finished killing the Separatists and he had just sent the message to the Trade Federation the droid army was now shut down and Palpatine laughed for everything most of everything was now going as he planned.
As he walked out of the landing Platforms where his royal guards awaited him he was about to leave back to the Senate to declare the birth of the Empire but as he could sense someone was coming...
It was Anakin, he smiled for a brief bit but frowned, sensing he wasn't alone he felt Obi-Wan's presence too and he grew angry hoping Anakin was coming to the summit as his apprentice.
But with Obi-Wan with him it wasn't likely.
Palpatine had plotted to manipulate Anakin more in turning him to the dark side since he felt Anakin's rage at the Jedi Temple when killing the Clone Troopers in hopes it would convince him enough to turn against Obi-Wan and kill him and kill Yoda later.
Anakin and Obi-Wan's ship landed and they stepped out from the ramp locking eyes to the Sith Lord nearby.
Sidious looked at the two Jedi with glee but anger that Obi-Wan had survived order 66 and Anakin not submitting to become his apprentice…
"Master Kenobi…you survived." Darth Sidious said.
"You sound surprised. But now your reign with the dark side ends now." Obi-Wan said.
"Your arrogance blinds you Master Kenobi. But as for you Young Skywalker…do you really believe siding with the Jedi will help you save Padme? Without me you will not be strong enough to save her from certain death!" Darth Sidious said.
"Don't lecture me Palpatine! I now see through your lies and deception like any Sith would! You can no longer tempt me like you use too!" Anakin said angrily.
"So your thoughts are clear on this matter? But I wonder if you're so sure. If you reject the dark side then Padme will die." Darth Sidious said.
"LIAR!" Anakin said angrily.
"Search your feelings Anakin. Obi-Wan is only trying to turn you against me. And if he succeeds he will use you like a puppet to overthrow me. And the Jedi will control the Senate and they will let your wife die. Become my apprentice and we can save Padme and the senate together." Darth Sidious said.
"I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR LIES!" Anakin angrily.
"Only a Sith would seek to rule. We shall do what we must." Obi-Wan said.
"Then you both will experience the full power of the dark side!" Darth Sidious said.
The two Jedi ignited their lightsabers as did the Sith Lord for a new battle was about to begin…
