Disclaimer: I do not own Attack On Titan. I am glad that I do not, because it means I got to experience watching it for myself.
Takes place post-Rumbling
"And for you, sir?" the waiter asked. "We have several different wines which pair well with the roast duck. I can suggest one if you'd li-"
"I don't drink wine," Levi said bluntly.
Perhaps a bit too bluntly; some of the people sitting around him were now giving him weird looks.
"Oh, I see. Very well, then…what else would you like?"
Levi turned back to his menu, and glanced over the options, finally deciding on a tea he was unfamiliar with but which was more likely to be palatable than any of the other things he didn't recognize.
He wasn't exactly surprised when Jean and Connie followed his example, nor when Armin went ahead and ordered a glass himself, probably in an effort to be diplomatic.
Someone nearby cleared their throat pointedly. Levi looked up from studying the place settings to find some of the ambassadors studying him curiously. As the waiter moved on to other guests at the table, Ambassador Whitley turned to Armin and asked, "Is there any particular reason why your friends are avoiding the wine? I've heard it's quite good-The Western Shore is known for quality in all respects."
Armin studied the ambassador, gauging whether he should indulge the man's curiosity. Finally, he replied, "There is a reason, yes. But I'm afraid it's not something to be spoken of over dinner."
The waiter arrived ten minutes later with their teas, and nothing more was said on the subject.
Author's Note:
The basic concept for this scene hit me the other day, and while I don't have anything else I want to write for this concept at the moment, the idea that wine makes various members of the Alliance uncomfortable is a headcanon I really like.
Feel free to take the idea and run with it, if you like it too. :)
