"When you said old-fashioned, this isn't exactly what I had in mind." Isaac said, in a sparring ring, outside with Sonic. Sonic was stretching his legs, preparing to fight Isaac.
"It's an old tradition in the Kingdom of Acorn. Sparring helps with grievances of the past, preparing us to become anew in the New Year. Also… it may be an excuse to see which of you are the strongest. I've actually wondered that for a while." King Nigel responded.
Sonic was smirking, seeing this as a training exercise. Isaac was cracking his neck, before making sure his gauntlet was fixed to his arm properly. Sally was nervous, feeling that the both of them might take this too far. The three not in attendance was Ruby, John, and Lily. They were checking out the site of attack that Isaac and Sally had experienced two days ago.
"So… do we stop when one of us says 'ow', or when we start to draw blood?" Isaac asked. King Nigel chuckled a bit, before clearing his throat.
"The fight is over when either of two things happen: When you tap out, or when you get knocked unconcious. Now… fighters ready?" Nigel said, Sonic and Isaac taking combat stances.
"Ready!" They both said. Nigel hit a fighting bell, starting the match.
"Fight!" He announced.
Sonic was the first to strike, Isaac barely having enough time to process his movement! Isaac felt a kick into his abdomen, launching him away! Isaac rolled on the ground, before regaining his footing. Isaac felt the wind knocked out of him, coughing.
"Ready to give up?" Sonic asked, smirking. Isaac cracked his knuckles, catching his breath.
"I'm just getting started." Isaac responded, launching himself at him!
Sonic was quick, blocking every punch and kick Isaac could give! Isaac attempted to deliver a knee into the confusion, Sonic blocking it, having seen it coming a mile away!
"You're too slow, Isaac!" Sonic said, before punching him across the jaw! Isaac stumbled back a bit, before Sonic launched a flying kick towards him!
Isaac was able to respond this time, catching his foot and grabbing his upper leg, before swinging him downward towards the ground like a sledgehammer! Sonic's face planted into the ground, making an audible thud! Isaac let got and quickly backed away, waiting for him to get back up! Sonic was slow in getting up, his nose beginning to bleed from his face meeting the ground. He shook his head, getting his senses back.
"Damn! Even I felt that." Shadow commented.
"You want to keep going?" Isaac asked. Sonic nodded, before wiping the blood from his nose.
"Try to keep up." Sonic said, before vanishing into thin air! Isaac was looking around, not seeing where he had gone! Suddenly, he felt multiple points of contact on his body, feeling the force of a truck slamming into him!
He was thrown away towards the edge of the ring before another slam threw him back into the center of the ring! Isaac regained his composure, closing his eyes. Soon, all noise was absent from his ears, except for that of a certain frequency. Isaac was soon blocking the invisible strikes, able to hear all movements around him! Suddenly, Isaac stopped Sonic's arm with a strong grip, before throwing him away from himself! Sonic landed on his feet; surprised Isaac had been able to stop his attack!
"Alright… time to kick it up a notch." Isaac said, before his body was engulfed in Hellfire! Isaac instantaneously transformed into his Demonic Form, towering over Sonic by two feet! King Nigel's throat went dry, the first-time seeing Isaac's Demonic Form up-close.
"Good… I can stop holding back!" Sonic observed, before launching himself full speed!
Isaac flawlessly dodged the attack, before returning the gesture with a hooved foot into the small of his back! Sonic was launched away from the kick, feeling a welt in the shape of a hoof on his back! Sonic quickly got back up, actually getting angry!
"Fine! Try this!" Sonic yelled, before launching himself towards him, unleashing an onslaught of kicks and punches!
Isaac was blocking them with his arms, an effective barrier from his attack! Sonic kicked himself away, seeing it didn't have any effect! He looked towards Knuckles, who had a duffle bag next to him! He nodded, before zipping it open and throwing it towards Sonic! Sonic grabbed it, revealing it to be full of Chaos Emeralds!
"Oh no!" Sally exclaimed, realizing Sonic was going to be escalating the fight! The chaos emeralds began circling him, the wave of energy causing Isaac to physically recoil!
"Wait, what are you doing?!" Isaac asked, unsure of what was happening. Sonic was suddenly transformed by the emeralds, his quills taking upon a golden hue, his eyes radiating with the raw Chaos energy! He began to levitate from the ground, his own body pulsing with energy!
"Take this!" Sonic yelled, before launching into Isaac, the both of them rising into the sky! Sonic was punching and kicking as hard as he could, Isaac having flashbacks of the fight with Zeus! Isaac managed to throw Sonic away from him, before his wings materialized, allowing him to fly!
"Interesting form. But I'm not ready to give up!" Isaac said, before taking flight to continue his assault!
The Sonic Team were watching the fight from the ground, seeing the golden streak impacting against the streak of Hellfire, making visible explosions of energy, almost like a fireworks display! Nigel was wringing his hands, feeling regret in setting up the fight. Sally wasn't sure what was going to happen, knowing the two could hold their own in a fight against insurmountable odds! It wasn't too long until the streaks in the air stopped.
Isaac and Sonic were breathing heavily, the fight taking more out of them than they thought. While Isaac knew he could hold out for a few more minutes, it was an uphill battle that had very little chance of him coming out as victorious.
"That… that all you got?" Sonic asked, still catching his breath. Isaac shook his head, before a white energy began to consume him!
Suddenly, from the view of the ground, the sky erupted into white light, almost as if a new sun was created! Golden armor materialized from the Heavens, before retreating to Isaac, the individual plates fixing themselves to his body! Isaac's wings took upon a new color, becoming white with golden feathers near the edges! He physically equipped his helmet, his eyes burning with renewed energy!
"You can go Super, too?!" Sonic exclaimed. Isaac laughed a bit, before regaining his composure.
"It is the power of my mother. The power of the angels. And I am sure… you won't be able to hold out for long!" Isaac responded, before resuming his attack!
The fight resumed, each punch and kick creating waves of energy, shaking the land itself! Explosions of light danced upon the sky, reflecting off of the Mobian Sea! Sonic was sent hurtling away from Isaac, skidding off the surface of the Mobian Sea like a stone! Isaac launched himself towards Sonic, driving into him and sending the both of them into the Sea!
They collided with the ruins of the ancient Greek lighthouse submerged in the Sea, causing it to further cave in! Sonic retaliated with a heavy beam of Chaos energy, throwing Isaac back towards the surface! Sonic followed, punching Isaac out of the water! Isaac felt one of his ribs splinter upon impact, a large deep bruise already developing.
The others were still watching the fight, feeling the force of every kick and punch from their seats, realizing this fight had truly gotten out of hand.
"Alright, we need to stop this! If they keep fighting like this, they just might end up killing each other!" Amy exclaimed. Sally nodded, not wanting to be a widow this early in her life!
Tails brought out a megaphone, turning it on.
"Guys, that's enough! No need to spend Christmas in a body cast!" Tails called out. This only spurred the fight further, Isaac splitting up into multiple shades of himself! The shades began circling Sonic, each of them trading blows while the real Isaac flew away from the fight.
"Wait, Isaac's retreating?" Shadow questioned, not thinking he would do that. Isaac stopped, before his aura began to increase in brightness and size, Isaac aiming his flaming sword at the mass of shades!
"Wait a- He's charging some kind of attack!" Rouge exclaimed.
Isaac finally released his attack, a great beam of energy firing from his sword, smashing through his copies, and hitting Sonic! The beam soon enclosed around him, before Isaac swung downward, shot-putting Sonic back down to Mobius! Isaac followed, a clenched fist leading! He collided with him, before sending the both of them into the beach of the Kingdom of Acorn! The ground shook with their impact, the others quickly running towards the docks!
They finally reached the shore, seeing the two! They were powered down, groaning, and struggling to pick themselves up. Isaac still had some of the armor plates on him, prying them off to give himself room to breathe. Sonic was dragging himself back on to his feet, pulling himself up on an old branch.
"Isaac… are you still alive?" Sonic groaned, Isaac still catching his breath.
"I wish I wasn't." Isaac groaned, before falling to his knees, clutching his ribs.
Sally walked down to the shore, approaching Isaac. Isaac looked up, seeing his wife, who didn't look too amused.
"You're disappointed in me, aren't you?" Isaac asked. Sally was confused by the question.
"Disappointed? I mean, I'm a little shocked you two didn't stop the fight before shooting yourselves into the ground. But I'm not disappointed." Sally responded.
Sonic was helped up by Amy, who was not too happy about her boyfriend being beaten and bruised.
"I can't believe you went and used Chaos emeralds in a sparring session! And you; I can't believe you went and threw him into the ground like a catapult! You two could've died!" Amy chastised, before walking with Sonic towards the stairs to the docks.
"Are you really that surprised? The Faker and I almost killed each other in sparring sessions all the time." Shadow asked. Amy rolled her eyes, still walking towards the docks.
"I had my money on Sonic. But hey, since you two tied, I didn't lose any rings." Knuckles commented, before walking towards the docks.
Isaac finally managed to get onto his feet, leaning onto a boulder. Sally helped him towards the docks, where King Nigel and Queen Alicia were waiting.
"Isaac, I want to say how sorry I am. I didn't think the fight was going to escalate so much!" Nigel said. Isaac coughed, before clearing his throat.
"There's no need to apologize. I escalated the fight as much as Sonic did. I just need a little rest, some ibuprofen, and I'll be fine." Isaac said, before limping alongside Sally.
"Go talk to Jess. Better safe than sorry." Nigel called out.
"Got it, dad." Isaac responded, still walking with Sally.
King Nigel and Queen Alicia were still standing there, realizing Isaac had called Nigel 'dad'.
"Did… did he call you 'dad'?" Alicia asked. Nigel nodded, knowing where he got the idea.
"I called him 'son' last week when Sally gave birth to Camilla. It seems… he's taken that as permission." Nigel explained.
"Are you going to correct him?" Alicia asked. Nigel thought about it, before shaking his head.
"Nah. I'll be honest with you… he's truly grown on me." Nigel answered.
2 Hours Later:
The entirety of the Sonic Team were cozy in the Common Room, Isaac and Sonic bandaged and recovering from the fight. Isaac was grunting every so often, his ribs still mending back together from getting splintered! The left side of his body was glowing red-orange, evident of his healing state. Sonic was healing rapidly as well, but not with the help of demonic/angelic genetics. Amy was sitting beside Sonic, holding Camilla, finally having a chance to do so.
"Oh, you're so precious! Yeah! I'm your Aunt Amy!" Amy said, fawning over her.
Sonic's eyes were closed, too busy focusing on healing. But he soon felt Amy rest her head against his shoulder, opening his eyes. He saw the infant, her hand raised towards him. He gently extended a finger to her, Camilla grabbing it. He smiled, before he attempted to retrieve his finger, the infant's grip stronger than what he expected!
He managed to get his finger back, but not without making Camilla cry. Amy quickly began rocking her, comforting her.
"I already got my ass kicked today, I don't need it to happen a second time." Sonic muttered to himself, relaxing back into his seat.
