(Author's Note)
So. 300 Favorites.
...I'm sorry, WHAT!?
Yeah, uh... when did this become the most favorited piece of fanfiction in the FExPersona crossover section!?
...Okay, I'm good now. God that's a lot of pressure...
So, I've come to the realization that what I think can be segmented comfortably into two chapter is normally not gonna work out like that. So, here I am with Chapter 7 much faster than I was expecting.
I'll admit, things are taking a lot longer to get to the Mock Battle than I was expecting, but I promise that I'll get to it either during Chapter 9, or 10. Preferably Chapter 9, but it depends on how I end up splitting the events leading up to the Mock Battle.
There was, a lot I had to figure out from here. There's gonna be a mini author's note at the end of the chapter that'll give a bit of lore about something specific that's introduced later in this chapter. I'd of preferred to not introduce lore of this variety, but considering the context of it and the fact it's something that'd at least need some kind of grounding to it, I needed to get a little bit of it down for now.
And lastly before I get to the reviews, hopefully with this chapter I'll have something that'll show progress coming up that's not just aimless living for the monastery's resident Phantom Thieves. It's not a full send thing, not yet, but it's enough of a hook to get things rolling... hopefully.
Anyways, with all that out of the way, onto reviews!
To Guest: Not sure how in depth I'll fully be going in on with later chapters when it comes to the learning done during class. I know I'll touch on it a little on the lead up to the Mock battle once Ren's free time is over, but after the mock battle is up in the air on what I'm gonna do. I'll keep the idea in mind though, just in case.
To Doot76: *Coughs*
To SuperSaiyanFever: Who's to say? I will make it known that the first "Formal" meeting between the Phantom Thief and the Sassy Time Child isn't gonna be as quickly as most of you are thinking. I'm not going to be holding off on it forever though, but it won't be during the Mock Battle.
To Neb: Maybe. The image is funny though. If it happens, won't be until later as mentioned before.
To Mark The Gamer of Grima: Well, that part's a little complicated. I will say that it won't solely be the Black Eagle house that will be interacting with mementos, and even then the number of students from said house becoming aware of the metaverse wouldn't be very high until much, MUCH later. If Joker has his way, the only ones who'll know about Mementos' existence in Fódlan are those that are apart of the Phantom Thieves. Take that as you will.
To ShinyKyu: Still debating on whether or not to include the Ashen Wolves as a part of the story. I am borrowing the whole "Abyss" thing for mementos, but I'm not sure on their inclusion otherwise. I will note, since I didn't really consider them when I was assigning confidants to characters, that if they are introduced, they'd likely be represented by the "Knight" cards of the tarot deck. (I.E: The Knight of Swords/Cups/Wands/Pentacles) Which also upon that realization, also sort of fits their whole "Outcast" thing the ashen wolves have, since the Knight cards are apart of tarot readings, but when brought up in relation to, say, persona's social links, they're pretty much always left out (To my knowledge, at least). Also, regarding the game mechanics thing. I can understand it taking some of you out of it when I bring up "Hey, this rank up will grant your Persona's better stats!", but I also feel like Ren should know what exactly he's getting when he forms these confidants. Especially since it's tied in with the Velvet Room, and yeah you can "Feel" a much stronger persona when it's there, but wouldn't it make more sense if they were able to quantify the level of a persona to show just how strong it was? That's my take on it anyways, and I'll be sticking with it. I will note, aside from the rank ups, I won't be shoving the game stuff down your guy's throats. Every now and then it'll come up when interacting with a confidant, but otherwise, it'll be in the background.
To MysticSpider: Fun fact, Base Arsene is not immune to curse! I actually had a double take when I learned that while writing the last chapter. Luckily for Ren, while he can't fully draw out his persona's power, he still gets the benefits of Immunities and resistances from upgraded personas. Which does mean Ren power leveled his starting Persona all the way till Christmas.
Again, thanks to everyone who reviewed! As I've said many times before this, seeing you guys engaging with the story like this REALLY helps me keep motivated, so if you have the time or even a question about the story that's bugging you at all, please leave a review. If I can respond to it in some form of answer, I'll write a response at the start of the next chapter. You guys get the drill at this point.
Onto the story!
"Alright, that should be everything." Ren said, dusting his hands off as he looked around the now cleaned and organized room before him. He had talked with Seteth immediately after today's capture the flag exercise about getting these things moved out and relocated, so all he had to do now was leave everything he didn't need outside and it'd be gone in the morning.
"Well, when it's not coated in dust and cluttered by boxes, it's not bad." Morgana said, hopping up onto the nearby counter. "So, we have the next two days off. What's the plan?"
"Figure out where we can buy everything else we need to decorate and get the cafe up and running. Other than that, see if I can form any new confidants, maybe raise some of the ones I already have…" Ren trailed off before crossing his arms. "Also, I want to look into if there is anyone that is selling dart boards of some kind here."
"Ah, that'd be good to have. We haven't had a chance to play 701 in a while." Morgana said with a smile. "You still have the weighted darts you bought?"
"Of course, I always have them in my bag in case we ever stopped by Penguin Sniper suddenly." Ren said, letting a smile form on his face. "Man, getting Ryuji to properly aim the darts took a bit, but once we did we breezed through 301."
"I remember." Morgana nodded with a chuckle. "The look on his face when I got the technique down before he did was priceless!"
"For real!? How are you even throwing those with paws!?" Ren said, imitating Ryuji's voice as best he could.
The two thieves laughed at the fond memory before the room fell silent as the air became melancholic. Ren sighed, before smiling at Morgana as he grabbed his bag. "Come on, we should still have time to grab some food before the night's over."
"I can't believe you got distracted by Professor Amamiya during the lesson." Edelgard's disappointed voice was one of many filling the cafeteria, as she sat across from Dorothea at a mostly empty table.
"What part of that felt out of character for me?" Dorothea asked with a light smile and a raised eyebrow.
"It was a combat exercise and you were supposed to be on the lookout." Edelgard said, ignoring her friend's rebuttal. "And he's our Professor."
"Sensei is also a year younger than me, is unbelievably charming, and gives most of the people I've dated a run for their money in the looks department." Dorothea said, extending a finger with every point she made.
"I wasn't asking for-Sensei?" Edelgard blinked, her train of thought fully derailed.
"One of the little bits I picked up from our talk. It's a title of sorts they use for someone who's a respected individual in specific fields, like a doctor or in this case, teacher." Dorothea said, nodding as she took another bite from her food.
"Hm… Well, I suppose it would help differentiate the two if we called him Sensei…" Edelgard said, looking off to the side.
"And hey, I'm not entirely at fault for engaging in conversation." Dorothea said with a sniff. "It wasn't like he stopped me from making small talk, after all. If he told me to focus, I would have."
"I did, actually." Ren spoke up, walking over to the two with two plates of food in his hands. "You asked for an example and I gave you one."
Dorothea blinked, before her eyes widened in mock hurt. "But you said they were your plans for world domination!"
Edelgard raised an eyebrow at the two in front of her. Ren snorted. "Please, there was no way I would've fit the pages of such plans contained within my journal into a single sentence." He shot back remarkably quickly, before pausing as the two blankly stared at him. "For clarification, that's a joke. I don't have any plans for that anyways."
"Yeah, your journal's more of a recollection of said plans." Morgana said, popping his head out of Ren's bag.
"Mind if we join you?" Ren asked, motioning to the table the two were sitting at.
"I'm sure there's no problem with that." Dorothea said, glancing over at Edelgard.
"Yes, please have a seat." Edelgard nodded, watching as Ren moved to sit beside her, placing the two plates of food in front of him and in front of the seat to his left. A simple tomato soup, of which Edelgard was also partaking in, and a plate of grilled fish. "Forgive me, but why did you get two plates?"
"Hm? Oh, for Morgana." Ren said, placing his messenger back down on the seat next to him, his partner's head poking out. Edelgard blinked, wondering if the sight of the cat drooling was her mind hallucinating due to how late it was.
"Are… cat's allowed in the cafeteria?" Dorothea asked, glancing at Edelgard.
"I don't think there's any rules against them being here, just that we try to keep them out." Edelgard said, glancing over at her Professor's cat, as the feline began to inhale the fish before him. "Though I can see why we do so…"
"Don't worry, Morgana won't do anything to get him kicked out." Ren said, waving the two off before he pressed his hands together. "Thanks for the food."
Ren took a sip from his soup, taking a few moments to sample it before nodding as he swallowed and kept eating. Edelgard raised an eyebrow as he took a sip from the cup before him, before putting it back down with a look of mild distaste on his face.
"Is the food not to your liking, Sensei?" Edelgard asked, deciding she might as well see if using the term was acceptable with the Professor.
The two students blinked in shock as Morgana seemingly began choking on the fish in his mouth. Ren blinked, before shaking his head. "He'll be fine, give him a minute." He said, turning away from Morgana to look back at Edelgard. "Food's great. Tea's fine, just not what my first choice would've been."
"No, we're not just going to skip over that! Joker, what did you do?" Morgana asked, turning to look at his partner.
"On an unrelated note, how much have you been spreading that around?" Ren asked Dorothea, glancing over at her.
"Just Edelgard so far." Dorothea said with a shrug.
"So far…" Morgana deadpanned.
"Why do you ask? Would you prefer we don't call you that, Sensei?" Dorothea continued.
"Was more confused than anything else really." Ren said, pulling another spoonful of soup to his mouth. "You do what you like."
"Sensei it is!" Dorothea said.
"I would like to say, if we called you that during class, it would most likely help everyone differentiate between you and Professor Eisner." Edelgard said, getting a thoughtful look from her teacher in return.
"It wouldn't hurt. Up to the other students if they'd prefer switching to that." Ren said with a shrug.
"Very well, I'll bring it up during classes tomorrow." Edelgard said.
Ren nodded, picking up his cup to take another sip of his tea, before putting it back down with another light grimace on his face. "I've had too much of Sojiro's coffee…" Ren muttered. "This tea isn't fitting my palette as naturally as it normally does."
"A lot of Boss' recipes had that effect…" Morgana said, shaking his head.
Ren nodded as a melancholic smile formed on his face, flashes of the many, many attempts at making a cup of Coffee that would get Sojiro's approval passed through his mind.
He managed it finally, the day before they went to fight Yaldabaoth.
"Sensei?" Dorothea asked, tilting her head.
"Hm?" Ren snapped out of his reminiscing, glancing back over to Dorothea. "Ah, sorry. Just… thinking of home I guess."
"You haven't really mentioned your home." Edelgard spoke up, drawing Ren's eye to her. "I don't suppose you'd be willing to disclose what it was like?"
"Well…" Ren leaned back in his chair, before nodding. "I lived in a city called Tokyo. It was a tightly packed area full of people… not unlike the monastery here, but more cramped, in a way."
Edelgard blinked. "I've never heard of a place like that."
"It's not exactly on the continent, and I'm pretty sure it's fairly out of the way." Ren said with a shrug. "Anyways, I actually was living in a Cafe in the city, a little place called Leblanc."
"Leblanc…" Dorothea repeated the word, seemingly tasting the word in her mouth.
"A Cafe?" Edelgard nodded, glancing down to the cup of tea in front of Ren. "I suppose if you were used to higher quality teas that what they give in the cafeteria would be much less to your taste."
"We didn't actually serve Tea there." Ren said with a shrug. "A lot of Coffee though."
"Ah, that would explain it." Edelgard said with a nod. "I've had it before. The empire does import a fair amount of the coffee beans from Bridgid after all."
Ren shared a glance with Morgana. "Jackpot." Morgana said with a smirk.
"Don't suppose you'd know anyone here I'd be able to ask about procuring some of said beans?" Ren asked, glancing back over to Edelgard.
"Hm… I don't know any of the merchants here specifically, so I wouldn't be able to point you in the right direction…" Edelgard noted, closing her eyes in thought.
"I think Seteth might know." Dorothea spoke up, grabbing the group's attention. "I don't believe he has it often, but I've heard he has some on standby in case he has a long day of work that requires the boost."
"Alright, I'll go ask him when I get a chance then." Ren said with a nod. "Thanks."
"Alright." Ren said, taking a seat at the desk in the corner of his room. He'd probably end up replacing it later, most likely for something specialized for crafting, but for now it'd do. "Let's get started."
"What's the plan, Joker?" Morgana asked from his position on the right of the desk.
"I need to up my arsenal." Ren said, placing down a Mish mash of various materials. Various metals, a bunch of old arrows he had grabbed from one of the boxes during cleanup, and an assortment of things they had grabbed from the last Mementos Rush were laid out before him. He reached into his bag before pulling out a plain model gun, which was quickly placed on the center of his desk with a light slam. "Which means I need a replacement for my gun. Even if magic is rampant in the real world, our model guns are still only models here."
"Ooh. So what do you have in mind?" Morgana asked, looking over at Ren.
"A rough idea, nothing concrete, but… some sort of semi-automatic crossbow." The teen explained as he began sorting through the materials. He picked up a few of the arrows sitting on the left side of the table. "Most of this will be figuring out just how to get this to work… Not to mention I'll also need to shorten the ammunition as well, but luckily I have these from our clean up I can work with for now."
"Well if anyone can figure this out, it's you Joker!" Morgana said, lying down with a smirk. "Time to see the master go to work."
It took 3 hours. The first hour and a half was mostly spent working out the logistics of even HOW this thing would fire with the same strength of a normal crossbow, while the next hour was spent modeling, cutting, sanding, and crafting the materials necessary down to the correct sizes so everything would fit together right.
The last half an hour was spent fitting everything together and tightening it so it'd work and not blow up in the thief's hands.
The end result may as well have been referred to as a hand cannon. A fair amount of the model gun had been repurposed to reutilize most of the functionality present. As a result, the grip, trigger, safety, magazine release and slide were all fully functional in the final design, although altered to perform the same sort of functions with the new firing mechanism.
The actual barrel had been entirely made from scratch, since it had to be much larger to accommodate the opening at the bottom of said barrel where the custom magazines would be inserted.
Of course, as a result the original mag well in the model gun no longer had a purpose. So, Ren had modified the gun to have a metal hand guard, in the off chance someone got too close to him and he needed to pistol whip someone for space. Said guard was secured by a fully metal dummy mag that also acted as a counterbalance for the front of the gun, alongside its integration just behind where the barrel connected flush with the back of the gun.
The thief trusted his craftsmanship, but he also knew bashing someone's face with something with so many working parts was a recipe for jamming, so the guard was the best solution that would hopefully not damage any of the specific internals necessary to actually fire it. He also made sure the safety could be flicked on so he wasn't accidentally shooting himself in the foot via misfire.
Ren nodded to himself, picking up his creation in his right hand, before pulling up tonight's second design.
Six shortened arrows were loaded inside of a customized magazine, which was quickly slapped into the new mag well at the bottom of the barrel.
Morgana pushed himself to a stand, watching with narrowed eyes as the Professor let out a breath. Ren pulled the slide of the weapon back, loading the first arrow into the chamber, before letting the slide snap back into place.
"...Okay, it's not blowing up…" Ren said, letting out a sigh of relief as he looked over his newest creation. "That's a good sign."
"Let's not get too hasty… It could still jam up." Morgana said.
"Only one way to find out." Ren muttered, turning to a nearby chair. He glanced over at Morgana and shrugged. "We were just going to replace this later."
"Let 'em have it, Joker!" Morgana exclaimed, tensing up.
"With pleasure!" Ren followed up, pulling his creation up in front of him, aiming it at the center of the chair standing across the room.
Now, there was always going to be one problem that had to be fully figured out when creating this sort of weapon. How do you keep the range and strength of a crossbow inside a weapon that also increases the ammo capacity six-fold and rapidly shrinks the overall size to something that could be hidden easily enough inside someone's coat?
The solution? Magnets.
…Among other things.
Even outside of the metaverse, some of the items retrieved from Shadows still had strange effects in the real world. It was how Ren was able to craft his trusty eternal lockpick, which was physically incapable of breaking, a fact that was proven when he tried and failed to break it during that descent to the bottom of Mementos.
So, he made use of that by running a metal plate hooked onto a large metal spring along the inside off the barrel. Directly behind that near the slide was a magnet that would click into place when the slide was pulled back and readied. As a result, the magnet would pull the plate back and apply tension to the spring, giving room for the next arrow to get fed into the chamber. If he was right about the design, it would theoretically allow for a magnet powered launcher that would shoot arrows with as much range and speed as a normal crossbow would allow.
As a result of all the work, time, effort and random bullshit the thief had thrown together, he was left with the weapon in his hand. Now all he had to do was give the thing a name.
…After he pulled the trigger.
There was one problem with the design, which was the question of how you stopped the magnet from holding the firing mechanism back. The answer was simple: use something that could easily disrupt the magnetic force, like wood or plastic, so that the connection between the magnet and the firing mechanism could be cut at the simple pull of a trigger. And since there was an entire half of the model gun that could still be repurposed for said plastic, that was what Ren decided to use.
The slide from the model gun kicked back as the trigger was pulled, firing out the chambered arrow with barely a sound. The arrow sliced through the air, not even taking half a second to bury most of the arrowhead into the backrest of the chair. The slide slid back into place as quick as it was sent backward, quickly allowing the magnet to pull the metal plate and spring back, which in turn loaded another arrow into the chamber.
Ren let out a breath, raising the weapon in his hand up so he could get a look at the trigger. "It's a much heavier pull than what I'm used to…" He said, before narrowing his eyes as he pointed his gun back at the target. His finger tensed and pulled, rapidly pressing down on the trigger five more times, quickly sending the other five arrows flying out into the chair on the other side of the room.
Ren lowered his arm as Morgana hopped off the desk and moved over to the chair. "Hm… the spread's a little bit wide, though it might be due the arrows being a bit old..." Morgana noted with some mild surprise, before turning to look at Ren. "And it doesn't seem like your gun jammed at all while rapid firing like that, so if we got some fresh ones made to be that size, we might have something really strong on our hands."
"Good, I might still be able to perform a down shot then…" Ren said to himself with a nod, before pulling down on the mag release. He flicked his wrist down, letting the spent magazine fall out into his awaiting left hand. He twisted the mag in his hand with a thoughtful expression. "...Wouldn't hurt to see if we could get someone to be able to make these in bulk for us."
"Would save time crafting them, but the overall mechanism is a bit complicated." Morgana noted with a shrug.
"Either way, having custom arrows made is a must." Ren said with a nod. "I can craft some in a pinch, but I'd only be resizing the old versions for now."
"Right. Now, got a name in mind?" Morgana asked, tilting his head as Ren peered down at the weapon in his hand.
"...Yeah, I think I do." Ren said, walking back over to the desk as he placed the unnamed weapon down. His hands reached over a nearby pencil as he began to sketch out letters on the right side of the barrel.
A few minutes passed before Ren brushed aside the metal shavings that he had scribed out. "Alright." He said with a smile, raising the crossbow up as it glinted in the light from the nearby lantern.
"What's the verdict, Leader?" Morgana asked, glancing over at Ren.
Ren smirked, glancing down at the name engraved on the side of the weapon.
"Daredevil."
"Okay, so… this should be the place, right?" Morgana asked, glancing up from the map Ren was holding to look at the doors positioned opposite of Jeralt's office.
"Should be…" Ren muttered, folding the map and slipping it into his back pocket. "...Just hope this doesn't turn into an unpleasant meeting."
"I've been meaning to ask, but is there something going on between you two?" Morgana asked.
"Maybe? I don't have a problem with him, but he's… not really on board with us teaching here." Ren muttered, rubbing the back of his head. "He's the advisor to the Archbishop, so it's not that surprising he's like that, but…"
"Hey, just say the word and I'll be an absolute menace if he's being an ass." Morgana said, cracking a smile from Ren.
"I'll keep it in mind, but try to be quiet. I think it'd be better to not have him giving us looks." Ren responded, raising a hand to knock on the door to Seteth's office, only for the door to swing open themselves. "Um."
"Who let a cat into the upper floor again…" Seteth said with a sigh, eyes closed as he stepped out in front of Ren. His eyes opened, widening at the sight of the teen before him, but only for a moment as his expression morphed into the trademark stern look he seemed to have whenever around Ren. "Professor… I believe a class normally requires their teacher in order to learn."
"Normally. And they do. Byleth and I decided to each teach a day solo before the mock battle, as to better teach our students the individual lessons." Ren replied, barely phased by the dig from the advisor due to his guts. "She's covering today's lesson and I have the next."
"I see." Seteth said. "Then what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
"I was told you might be the person to ask regarding appropriation and purchase of a… possible luxury item." Ren began.
"You… will have to be more specific," Seteth began, eyes narrowing slightly. "As your previous request could be seen unfavorably."
"Coffee. Preferably Coffee Beans." Ren said.
"Coffee?" Seteth parroted, a mildly surprised look on his face before he nodded, stepping to the side. "I suppose I'd be able to point you in the right direction."
Seteth motioned Ren into his office. The thief's eyes trailed over the room before him. Shelves of books covered the room from almost all sides, and a large bulletin board was set on the left wall with schematics of varying designs hung overtop.
"Impressive." Ren noted, glancing over the wall. "You made all these?"
"It's a hobby of mine." Seteth said with a nod. "I'm usually busy with my other duties, but I find it's quite helpful if I ever need to destress."
"I can understand that. I'm a bit of a crafter myself." Ren said with a nod, turning to look at Seteth.
"Really?" Seteth asked, raising an eyebrow in intrigue.
"This is a compact hand crossbow I made last night." Ren said, pulling Daredevil out and placing it on the advisor's desk. The bottom of the barrel was open, as there was no magazine inserted. "It's magazine fed, which allows for semi-automatic firing of six arrows before it needs to be reloaded."
The teen motioned for his collegue to take a look. "It's unloaded at the moment, but you're free to look over it."
Seteth moved over and picked up the weapon, looking it over. "It's heavy, but well balanced. I assume you've likely crafted arrows to a specific size to work with this…" Seteth looked Daredevil over with calculating eyes, before handing the weapon back to Ren. "There's a few rough edges, and I can tell that it's more of a prototype than a finished product, but it's an impressive creation all the same… Could I interest you in a cup of Coffee?"
"Sure." Ren said, slipping Daredevil back into its concealed spot in his coat.
"Anything in it?" Seteth asked, pulling out a coffee grinder.
"Black is fine." Ren said, sitting down on one of the chairs in the corner of the room near the exit. The thief watched as Seteth got to work brewing two cups. It was clear the advisor knew what he was doing, but he wasn't as proficient as Ren was when it came to the art of brewing.
"As you know, I'm the advisor to the Archbishop." Seteth began as he returned with two cups of coffee in hand. Ren took the offered cup into his hands and took in a breath of the aroma.
'...Savory aroma…' Ren thought to himself with a nod.
"As such, my position requires me to know as much as I can about the monastery and the people within." Seteth continued, taking a sip from his cup. There was a pregnant pause as the green haired man set his cup back down. "Which brings me to you, Ren Amamiya."
Ren placed his cup down, letting his eyes lock onto Seteth's behind his false glasses. "Why did you come to Fódlan?" Seteth asked, crossing his arms. "Aside from what Jeralt was able to disclose, my understanding of you and your history is rather empty."
Seteth let out a sigh. "And because of my position, a lack of information is not something I'm entirely comfortable with.."
"Tread lightly, Joker…" Morgana whispered.
"I can see why." Ren said, before he picked up his cup and took a sip of the coffee. "...The acidity is soft, not overpowering, and there's a hint of… Chocolate and some kind of fruit, I believe?"
Seteth blinked, watching as Ren placed the cup back onto the table. The advisor nodded after a moment, picking his cup up as well to take a sip of his drink. Seteth nodded, placing the cup back onto the table between the two of them and spoke up "Coffee is considered a bit of a luxury item in some places. Here at the monastery, if you know who to speak to it's easier to have it imported and purchased. Especially so depending on the region it's received from." Seteth began. "I'm not an avid fan of the drink, but the boost of energy it provides is much greater than the kind tea provides, so I prefer it in cases where I need said energy. There are a few varieties of beans that are imported from Brigid, though this type specifically is known as Brigid Highland. They're cultivated at a higher altitude and have light notes of chocolate and orange."
Ren picked his cup back up and took another sip, before nodding as he placed his cup back down. "Mm… I taste it now." Ren said. "It's not a bad cup, though some of the orange notes seem to have been overpowered… Are you boiling the water before brewing?"
"I am." Seteth said with a slow nod.
"Don't. 200 degrees should be what you're aiming for. If boiling is necessary, let it cool down." Ren said, before taking another sip of his drink. "But aside from that, this is really well done."
"You're surprisingly knowledgeable about this." Seteth noted, raising an eyebrow.
"I lived in the attic of a Cafe for the past year." Ren said with a shrug. "Bosstaught me everything he knew while I stayed."
"I see. Was he also the one who taught you your martial skills?" Seteth pressed, picking his cup to take a sip of his drink.
"No, those were… separate circumstances." Ren said, looking to the side as he took a longer sip of the coffee before him.
Seteth paused, before nodding. He placed his now empty cup onto the table as he stood and walked over to his desk. Ren stood up, placing his empty cup onto the table as he walked over to the advisor who was writing something down on a sheet of paper.
Seteth placed the quill he was writing with on his desk as he lifted the small slip of paper up. "Let's get something straight." The advisor began, staring into Ren's eyes. "There is not enough information about you. I don't trust that, and as a result, I don't trust you. However, from the reports I've heard so far from your recent capture the flag exercise, I can tell you're giving it your all with the students."
Seteth extended a hand out for the teen to shake. "So with that made aware, I'm willing to offer a modicum of faith. We are supposed to be colleagues, so I might as well offer you that much."
Ren smiled lightly. "Thank you, Seteth. I'll do my best to make sure that trust isn't misplaced." The thief said, shaking the advisor's hand.
And as their hands clasped together, time slowed and darkened.
I am Thou, Thou art I…
Thou hast acquired a new vow.
It shall become the wings of rebellion
that breaketh thy chains of captivity.
With the birth of the Tower Persona,
I have obtained the winds of blessing that
shall lead to freedom and new power…
{RANK UP!}
Chains shot out, spreading out across Ren's vision before shattering as a blue arcana card descended before him. Time quickly resumed as the card faded from sight, and the two let their handshake finish.
"Most merchants will more often than not charge you a fair deal for luxury items like this, so it would be best if you talk to someone else." Seteth said, handing Ren a small slip of paper. "Head to the market, and keep an eye out for a woman with red hair tied into a ponytail. She's who you want to look for. Her services are… fairly exclusive, so all I can do is put in a good word. Anything past that point is something you'll need to figure out.'
Ren paused and looked down at the slip in his hands, before blinking at the words written on the front.
All of reality's a sale!
"Keep an eye out for me, Morgana." Ren muttered to his partner as he walked through the crowded market.
"Already on it." Morgana replied, glancing around. "There's a lot on offer, but…"
"Not really what we're looking for, yeah…" Ren said, pausing to look at the nearby stall. A few soldiers were crowded around looking through a variety of maintenance supplies. "Well, at least they're happy."
"Hey, Joker. I think I see her." Morgana spoke up, grabbing Ren's attention. "She's… also, looking at us."
"Hm?" Ren blinked, glancing over at Morgana before following his line of sight over to the left. Near the stairs leading back up to the monastery proper, stood the mysterious merchant Seteth told him about. "Yep, definitely staring…"
"I'll leave this to you, I'm gonna go wander around and see if I can hear anything that might be useful for our first real dip into Mementos." Morgana said, hoping out of Ren's bag.
The thief walked over to her, keeping pace even as the girl turned around and backed into a more secluded corner, where a stall was already set up.
"Interesting. I heard the new Professor was a foreigner, but I certainly wasn't expecting to see someone like you here." The merchant said, smiling as she looked up at Ren. She was a good three inches shorter, so it wasn't a lot, but enough to be noticeable. "How's Hoshido doing?"
'Japanese?' Ren blinked in shock at the merchant before him. "Hoshido? Doesn't ring a bell."
Anna blinked, before narrowing her eyes at the teen as if appraising him. "He matches the nationality my sister told me about…" She muttered, just loud enough for Ren to hear. "And he speaks their language flawlessly."
"I'm speaking Japanese right now." Ren said, grabbing her attention as she leaned back in thought. 'Nationality, huh? Weird, I didn't see any mention of 'Hoshido' on any map…'
"...All of reality's a sale."Ren parroted to the girl, getting her attention as he placed his hands in his pockets. "Not to get stuck on this, but Seteth pointed me in your direction. I was hoping to do business."
The woman paused, placing her index finger on her cheek, before her eyes widened. "So, you're not Hoshidan, but clearly still from an Outrealm…"
"Uh?" Ren blinked, raising an eyebrow.
"Don't mind me. Haven't personally traveled outside Fódlan, but I've picked up some things here and there." The merchant waved off with a smile.
'Like my language…?' Ren thought in confusion.
"Hm…" The red head leaned towards Ren, her eyes scanning him for a second before stepping back. "Alright, I think we can work something out."
The Merchant smiled, placing her index finger on her cheek with a smile. "I'm Anna. Those in the know call me the Secret Seller." Anna said, giving a wink to the thief. "So, I suppose that makes you in the know as well."
Anna placed her hands on the tabletop of the stall. "You also strike me as the kind of guy who tends to find curious things that someone like me could find useful." Anna continued, smiling. "Am I right?"
Ren paused glancing to the side, before reaching into his coat as he pulled out a small bag. He placed it open on the table and opened it, revealing a small assortment of various treasures he and the other thieves had grabbed while in the metaverse. "Got it in one." Ren said as Anna peered into the bag for a moment.
The merchant pulled back. "Well, that's certainly interesting." She said, glancing over at Ren. "How about we make a deal? You want business, you have it. And, if you find any more items of this variety, I'll take them off your hands for cash. No questions asked."
"Well, how could I refuse a transaction as perfect as that?" Ren said, smiling as he extended a hand.
"Then it's a deal. Pleasure doing business with you." Anna said, shaking the thief's hand.
And for the second time that day, time slowed to a halt.
I am Thou, Thou art I…
Thou hast acquired a new vow.
It shall become the wings of rebellion
that breaketh thy chains of captivity.
With the birth of the Merchant Persona,
I have obtained the winds of blessing that
shall lead to freedom and new power…
{RANK UP!}
Chains launched out across Ren's vision before shattering as a blue arcana card fell before him.
'This one's new…' Ren thought, looking down at the image displayed on the card. A traveler hefting a large travel bag overflowing with various goods greeted in response. 'Merchant?'
The card faded from sight and time resumed, and the two separated as Anna looked over the goods before her. "So, what can I do for you?"
"...A few things, if you have the ability to procure the items I'm looking for." Ren began, reaching up to his bag as he grabbed two rolled up sheets of paper. "Firstly, Coffee beans. Preferably in bulk, but I need a variety of bean types."
"I can do that easily enough. Some more than others though." Anna replied.
"That's fine." Ren said with a nod before rolling out the sheets of paper. "Here is a list of equipment I also need to procure. I think you can see the theme?"
"I can." Anna said with a nod, before she tilted her head to the side. "The supplies for darts are a bit out of left field though."
"Need them for something unrelated to the other stuff." Ren said with a shrug.
"Fair enough." Anna said, looking over the list with a calculating look on her face. "Alright, so there's a fair amount of things you're asking for, but considering what you're offering for trade as well… let's do this, I take the bag of goodies, and I'll procure you all of this plus the beans."
Ren smiled. "That sounds fair." Ren said, before placing the second roll of paper onto the table and rolling it out. "Now, here's the other big thing… which might be a bit harder to work out than everything else, but I figured I'd ask in case you knew someone who could take care of this."
Anna peered down at the paper, flicking a few fingers out and every now and then before standing straight up. "Hm… Interesting. Well, I'm not personally vested in renovation like that, but I have people I can talk to. How much of what's here is already set up?"
"Layouts pretty much done. Just need the furniture set up." Ren noted, crossing his arms.
"Hm… You happen to have any more of these?" Anna asked, motioning to the bag before her.
"There's only so much I can walk around with without getting looks, so…" Ren trailed off with a smirk, getting a similar look from Anna.
"You're popular." Morgana noted, as the two perused the monastery's library.
"How so?" Ren muttered, pulling a book out from the shelf in front of him. 'Finally! Only took half an hour…'
Myths of the Outrealms
"If we were hoping gossip would give us leads, the only thing anyone wants to gossip about is you and Byleth." Morgana said with a sigh. "Though you're currently more infamous than her."
"Why's that?"
"You're a foreigner, and apparently the majority of people here aren't exactly open to that." Morgana said, gaining a mild scowl from Ren as a result. "Luckily, it seems it's mainly the idle thoughts of people that don't have any real connection to the monastery, so you probably won't have much to deal with there."
"Probably isn't certainty." Ren said, sitting down at the nearby table and flipping the book in his hands open.
"What's this?" Morgana asked.
"Anna, the merchant from earlier, mentioned a place called Hoshido." Ren said, quickly skimming through the first few pages. "She was speaking Japanese, so it's likely there's some parallel there. But the important thing is that she said I was clearly from an outrealm."
"Which is why you're looking through a book on the subject?" Morgana asked.
"Yeah, but unfortunately… Aside from Anna, the only thing that this can explain is that they're a myth." Ren said, leaning back in his chair. "Sure, there's stories about such outrealms, like this one here about this… tactician named Robin, but it just seems like a collection of fairy tales than anything helpful."
"So Anna might be our best bet?"
"Probably not, she's never left Fódlan apparently, so it's likely she doesn't know how to traverse them." Ren said, closing the book. "What time is it?"
"Around lunch, a bit before I think." Morgana spoke up.
"Then I guess we should pack up." Ren said, standing up from his seat with the book in hand.
"Oh, hello Professor." Ren blinked, turning to look at the white haired girl to his right.
"Hey, I know her. She's from the… Gold Moose house, right?" Morgana asked.
"Deer." Ren muttered with a smile, putting that name away for later as he turned to the student. "Hello. We met a few days ago, right? You're… Lysithea?"
"That's right. I'm Lysithea von Ordelia." She nodded. "I'm surprised you're here. Aren't you in charge of the Black Eagle House?"
"Byleth has charge of the Black Eagle House for the day. I have them next." Ren said with a shrug.
"I see." Lysithea replied, before glancing at the book in Ren's hands. "The Outrealms?"
"Do you know anything about them?" Ren asked, raising an eyebrow. "They're a passive interest of mine and I figured I'd take some time to look through them."
"I've read the stories a fair amount myself." Lysithea said, crossing her arms. "Despite what Claude seems to think, they still are filled with tales that can be applied to ourselves."
"Speaking of him, how is Claude handling me not being your house's teacher?" Ren asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Took it in stride, but his eye absolutely twitched when Manuela walked into the room instead of you and Professor Eisner." Lysithea said with a smirk.
"Glad I gave you some enjoyment then." Ren said with a smile.
"Hm, hey since I have you here, I was hoping I'd be able to ask you about something." Lysithea began. "Your magic, how does it work exactly?"
"I'm… Not entirely certain actually." Ren said, sitting back down at a table as Lysithea moved to sit across from him. "I know your magic is different in that it makes use of your… reason or faith, right?"
"That's correct." Lysithea nodded.
"Well, I feel like mine is a bit different? I sort of…" Ren paused, glancing to the side. "It's sort of like something's bubbling under the surface, and I have to… will it to take form outside of my body. It's complicated, I guess."
"I'm aware. I've been asking around for information about it when I heard you casted differently." Lysithea said with a sigh.
"You have an interest in magic?" Ren asked.
"Yeah. I'm one of the most skilled with it in my house too." Lysithea said with some slight pride. She let out a sigh. "That fact doesn't stop my classmates from seeing me as a kid though…"
Ren's eyes narrowed as he caught sight of the very light bags sitting under her eyes. "...Are you okay?" Ren asked. The student blinked, raising her head as the thief continued. Ren pointed to just under his eyelid. "You seem a bit burnt out, is all. You're starting to develop bags."
"I'm fine… I don't really have time to worry about things like that." Lysithea said with a wave of her hand.
"Uh, no, you absolutely should have time to worry about that." Morgana muttered in disbelief.
"...Hey, you seem interested in how I… do all this magic, so why don't we work together on it?" Ren asked, getting a glance from the girl. "I might be able to cast, but I'm not… Entirely aware of the full mechanics, so figuring out this sort of thing might be easier if I had someone more versed in this sort of thing helping."
"Well, I wouldn't be opposed to such a thing…" Lysithea said with a nod. "Alright, that's fine with me."
"It's a deal then." Ren said with a smile.
Ren was prepared for it when time slowed to a halt, as his vision darkened and the voice of Lavenza once again rang in his head.
I am Thou, Thou art I…
Thou hast acquired a new vow.
It shall become the wings of rebellion
that breaketh thy chains of captivity.
With the birth of the Moon Persona,
I have obtained the winds of blessing that
shall lead to freedom and new power…
A Single blue card descended before him, depicting the Moon Arcana. Ren paused an uneasy feeling growing in his gut.
'Wait, isn't there normally the snapping of-'
As if his thought triggered them, chains flew out across his vision, before pulling together tightly as they wrapped around and constricted the arcana card in chains.

[Confidant Lock]
[Confidant benefits locked until distortion is resolved.]
Ren's eyes felt the ground spin, as time resumed to normal. He quickly schooled his features as he looked at the girl before him.
"Well, I think for now I'm going to get going. You want me to leave this with you or…?" Ren asked, holding up the book on Outrealms.
"I'm fine, I had some other topics I needed to look over." Lysithea said, standing up from her seat.
"Alright, I'll see you around." Ren said, standing up as he walked towards the nearby return cart, placing the book inside it.
"Hey, Joker, you okay?"
"I think we found our first lead…" Ren muttered with a grimace.
"Confidant Lock." Ren said, walking into the main courtyard of the monastery.
"Seriously, we're locked out of the Confidant until we clear the distortion?" Morgana asked. "This has never happened before!"
"We also never really had a Confidant that needed a change of heart themselves." Ren said, crossing his arms. "Futaba doesn't count since I formed hers after her palace, and Mishima didn't really need a change of heart, he was able to change himself."
"Maybe Lady Lavenza would be able to help us with this?" Morgana asked.
"We don't know if the Velvet Room is even finished renovating though." Ren said, crossing his arms.
"Doesn't hurt to check." Morgana said with a shrug.
"No… I suppose it does not." Ren nodded, as the two made their way back to the WIP Cafe. Ren opened the door and stepped inside, before pausing as he glanced down towards the stairs leading to the attic. "Morgana, was there… usually another door next to the bathrooms?"
"I don't think so…" The two shared a look as Ren slowly moved towards the door. The thief extended a hand to the doorknob, before twisting it and opening the door as he stepped into the room.
The room was barren, a simple box that let him walk maybe 5 steps ahead. "Not a lot here…" Morgana noted.
"...Is this it?" Ren asked in confusion, turning around to look at the door he came in from.
"Not quite." The thief blinked, turning around to catch sight of Lavenza. "Hello, Trickster."
Ren blinked, looking over at the new attire the attendant had changed to. Compared to the dress she had worn previously, she was now outfitted with a velvet room themed train conductor's outfit, complete with a small hat that sat tilted on the right side of her head. In her arms, compared to the usual compendium she tended to carry, a new book had taken its place. Similar in design, but there was a square with the Velvet Room's signature V printed on it that seemed to jut out a little bit from the cover.
"...I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting this. You look good though." Ren said, getting a smile from Lavenza.
"Thank you. It's good to see you again. And to you as well, Morgana." The attendant said, glancing over at the cat.
"So, what's with the new look anyways?" Morgana asked, tilting his head.
"Simply keeping with the theme. Now, I'd like you to have this." Lavenza began, holding out a blue key. The thief picked it up and looked it over. It wasn't anything special, clearly modeled after the old style of keys, but the blue seemed to almost shine on its own. "In the past, residents of the Velvet Room would receive their key upon the start of their journey, but due to the efforts of the false god-"
"I never got mine… Thank you, Lavenza." Ren said with a smile.
"It is my pleasure." Lavenza said, before tilting her head in thought. "Although, perhaps it would be better if I did this."
Ren raised an eyebrow, before flinching as the key in his hand began to glow blue, slowly transforming shape until the glow subsided to reveal a plastic card.
Velvet Train Pass
Ren glanced up at Lavenza, before blinking as he looked at the translucent blue doors that looked to have been ripped right off of a subway train car. "...Uh."
"Well, isn't that a familiar sight?" Morgana said.
"If you would scan your card before boarding." Lavenza began, holding out the book in her hands.
"...You're enjoying this, aren't you?"
"Very much, yes." Ren shook his head with a smirk, placing the train pass against the raised square. A quick beep echoed out, and the doors to the velvet room opened.
Lavenza motioned for Ren to enter, moving to follow after as the two walked through the doors.
The two doors closed behind them, before fading from sight, leaving behind an empty room.
(Play Aria of the Soul)
Ren paused, glancing down at himself. "No thieves outfit?" He muttered to himself, before turning around to look out at the space before him. While he was expecting a train, he wasn't expecting one like this.
The space was wide, unlike the almost claustrophobic feeling the subway trains of Tokyo had. It was a luxury train, with seats and tables scattered on either side. Near the end on the left was a door leading to somewhere, and further down the right led to a familiar desk and a familiar face sitting at it.
"Welcome to the Velvet Room." Igor began, smiling at the thief. "As you are aware, the design of the room reflects the state of your heart. Here you are, on a train with infinite destinations in the everchanging web that is fate. Fitting, no?"
"I suppose it is." Ren nodded.
"You should also be notified of what else we can provide with the rules this world lets us bend." Igor continued, looking over at Ren's shoulder.
Ren followed his line of sight, before staring in shock at the sight of Morgana who was at a loss for words. "Why am I here?" The cat asked, looking around the train cabin.
"The walls of reality are much thinner here, so it is no longer just your mind that is brought to this place." Lavenza explained, stepping in front of Ren. "Which means we are able to also bring in others here, as long as they are a close Confidant of yours that you trust."
"It also lets this train take on a literal meaning as well." Igor continued. "As long as we have a destination created somewhere, you will be able to go there by entering the Velvet Room and awaiting our arrival there."
"There are also other services we can offer specifically to help you continue your job as a phantom thief." Lavenza said, moving over to one of the tables nearby that had something on top of it.
"Hey isn't that…!" Morgana asked.
"A printer?" Ren asked.
"Yes, though more for copying than printing, in the case you need to make multiple calling cards." Lavenza continued. "It will also help make the original card you craft less patchwork and more professional."
"Man, this is a lot of stuff." Morgana said in shock.
"We are merely offering the tools to get you back to where you were back in Tokyo. What you do with it is your choice." Lavenza finished.
"I have one other question before I leave." Ren began, looking over at Igor. "What is a Confidant Lock and why have I only encountered it now?"
"Confidant Locks are more of a warning than anything else. You are still able to increase your Confidant with someone, but until the root of their distortion is changed, they will not be able to fully support you like your other confidants." Igor began, holding a hand out. "But even knowing that, you will not always enter a Confidant Lock if they are distorted. Sometimes the distortion will manifest as a shadow in Mementos, or as a full Palace. And you must remember, this world's cognition differs much from your own. What you might feel is behavior that is out of line for some, may not be for others."
Ren nodded, turning back to look at the door at the end of the cabin. "What's behind that door?"
"Our fusion equipment. We'll need to spend some time filling out this new compendium so I believe you will be making a lot of use out of it." Lavenza explained. "There's also another section of the train past the Fusion cabin. That's the Battle cabin, a space that will allow you and any others you bring along to train with your personas."
"Though it should be noted that we will be unable to assist in granting more personas or fusing others for your allies. As the wild card, you're one of the only people who can fully benefit from this." Igor finished.
"Alright… I think that's enough of an explanation for the two of us for now, yeah?" Ren asked Morgana, getting a nod from his partner. He turned back to face his benefactors and nodded. "Alright, I think we'll be on our way then."
"Until we next meet." Igor said, smile widening.
"Thank you for riding the Velvet Express, we await your next visit." Lavenza said with a bow, getting a small chuckle out of Igor in response.
Ren shook his head in amusement, before walking out of the train doors back into reality.
"Say what you will, that Anna is certainly fast about getting things together…" Morgananoted, glancing at the counter where Ren was currently setting up the equipment necessary to make coffee. "A shame that we're stuck without modern technology. It'd probably make the coffee making process easier for you."
"Possibly, but most of what I learned was hands-on anyways, so it's mainly the things that used to be automatic that I have to do manually." Ren said with a shrug, looking over at the bags of coffee beans to his right. "Anna says that she'll have the place all fixed up by the time I'm finished with classes on Monday, so we have tomorrow to do whatever."
"And the rest of today too." Morgana reminded the thief.
"Well, I've given Anna her payment for the Cafe, so all that's left for me to do is… Well, see if I can find a blend that'll match Sojiro's house blend." Ren said, taking a few cups of coffee out as he placed them on the counter next to the grinder. "And once we're done that… Well, we did get our hands on some dart boards."
"Sounds like a plan." Morgana nodded, curling up on the counter as he watched Ren go to work. Beans were grinded, brewed and tasted for the better part of 3 hours. Next to the cups that had been refilled and replaced numerous times by now was a new notepad that was being quickly filled up with bean ratios and flavor profiles for each bean type and bean combination.
It was familiar, the scent of Coffee in the air. The place had unfortunately been coated in a smell best described as "Old", so the brewing of coffee had an unplanned but welcome side effect.
"Feels a little frustrating, I guess." Ren said, marking down more notes for the most recent cup.
"How so?" Morgana asked.
"...I've basically done this same sort of thing before." Ren said, motioning to the notepad. "Trying out different beans, figuring out which lends well to the other… and trying to fully replicate Boss' coffee. All that work is mostly gone now. I know what I'm looking for, I'm skilled enough to do it, but I'm basically trying to reverse engineer a cup I remember from memory out of beans that weren't available in Tokyo."
Ren sighed, placing his pen down as he got to work measuring the beans for the next cup. "So the lack of progress is just getting to me, I suppose."
"Hey, at least we know the curry isn't going to be as hard." Morgana noted, getting a smile from Ren.
"That's the easy stuff. All of those are mostly the same. Sure, there may be minor changes to the ingredients due to how they're grown now compared to back home, but not to the extent of Coffee beans." Ren replied, beginning to grind the next cup. "I just hope that what I'll need to fully replicate it isn't gonna be some super expensive bean type…"
"Hey, if you can take down a false god, there's little else that should prove a challenge to you, Joker." Morgana said with a smile.
Ren raised an eyebrow with a bemused look on his face. "I don't think those are comparable, Mona."
"My point still stands!"
"Does it?"
The banter came to a pause, as Ren went through the remaining motions and finally poured the next cup of coffee. He picked the mug up in his hand and took a sip, before pausing as he lowered it.
"Joker?" Morgana asked.
"One sec." Ren said, placing the cup down as he quickly marked down the ratios and flavor notes before picking the cup back up for another taste. "...Almost, it's just missing something…"
Ren placed the cup back down before looking through the notes on the other attempts. He flipped through page after page before coming to a stop. "There!"
Morgana shot to his paws, looking on as Ren practically scrambled to ratio out about 4 different bean types as he began to brew another cup.
The frenzy slowed to a stop as the hot cup rested in front of the teen. He reached out and grasped the handle with a few beads of sweat forming on his brow, before pulling the mug up to take a sip.
There was a second of silence as Ren stood there, staring at the cup. Melancholy seemed to dance in his eyes as joy and sadness meshed and swirled in his pupils. He lowered the cup back onto the counter and wrote down on a separate notepad next to the one he had used for testing.
House Blend:
Bean Ratios:
-45% Brigid Highland
-25% Morfis Drought
-20% Boramas Supreme
-10% Brigid Common
"...It's not exact." Ren began, glancing up from the notepad. "It was never gonna be exact… But I did it."
Morgana smiled. "Told you." He said, getting a chuckle from Ren.
"Yeah, I guess you did." Ren said, shaking his head as he took another sip from the cup. "...We're going to have a lot to do tomorrow."
"Of course, can't really help it when you're such a busy body." Morgana snarked.
"Pretty Much." Ren said with a shrug. The thief paused, placing the cup onto the counter as reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "...We should check the nav."
Morgana nodded, stepping closer to Ren as the teen opened the app.
"Lysithea Von Ordelia." Ren began.
[Candidate Found]
"Yeah, we figured that out." Morgana deadpanned.
"Now we see just how bad this distortion is…" Ren said. "Mementos."
[Results Found]
"Oh thank god!" Ren sighed, leaning back. "We really don't have enough members to tackle a palace right now."
"Especially since you're starting from scratch again." Morgana said, getting a nod from Ren. "So, what's the plan?"
"Even if I wanted to go right now, we're not prepared for a trip into the depths. Especially since we don't know what it'll be like compared to back home." Ren began, crossing his arms. "And with the mock battle coming up… I think we should keep doing as we were until the mock battle. Once that's done, then we can look into changing her heart."
"Sounds like a plan." Morgana said. "But uh, what are we doing for the rest of the day?"
Ren paused, before glancing around at the mess he had ended up making. "...I think I have a mess to clean up." Ren said, wincing.
"Let Me Explain!"
- Brigid Common:
The vast majority of beans grown and exported from Brigid are these, hence their name. While there are usually some variation between exported batches, usually these Beans are known for their moderate acidity and strong nutty notes.
- Brigid Highland:
Beans grown on the island of Brigid. They're cultivated at a higher altitude than many of the other bean types from Brigid. They are noted to have a Savory Aroma, with notes of chocolate and orange.
- Boramas Supreme:
These are Beans that are grown on the far south side of the Adrestian Empire, in Boramas. They are known as Supreme due to the size of the Beans, a byproduct of the semi artificial environment that the Beans are grown in. When brewed it has a dense body, with light notes of various fruits.
- Morfis Drought:
Smaller than average coffee beans that are grown in a Country south east of Fodlan. The Beans get their name due to the desert that surrounds the capital city that they're grown in. It is unknown in what conditions they are grown in. They have a unique almost spicy flavor, and are often mixed with other bean types as a full blend can be overwhelming to some.
