37- The Wedding

Summary: It Joyce's and Hopper's wedding! Everyone's having a great time. Except Will.

Requested by: Section8grl and Boris Yeltsin

Will looked in the mirror, fixing his tuxedo.

Today was the day.

His mom was getting married. To Hopper

Will was going to be Hopper's groomsman and Johnathan was going to be his best man. El was going to be Joyce's maid of honor while Max got chosen to be her bridesmaid.

The girls were going to wear long, flowy, dark lilac dresses while the boys were of course going to wear a tuxedo with a blue boutonniere.

They were all getting ready to walk down the aisle, which was outside in the summery June sun, in the meadow below the hill that Dustin talks to Suzie on.

There were very few people from town that was invited to the ceremony. Just the Wheelers, Hendersons, Sinclairs, and Steve, Eddie, and Robin.

The reception was going to be at Steve's and only the kids were invited to it. It was a little weird that it would be mostly teenagers but when you fight monsters from other dimensions you start to become like a family.

Will was just tying off his bow tie when there was a knock on the door. "We're ready."

Hopper took a deep breath.

"You got this Hopper." Will said softly, Johnathan nodded in agreement.

"Thanks guys." Hopper smiled at them.

They all went outside, Hopper heading toward the alter while the two boys waited for Max and El.

About five minutes later, the two girls came out of their trailer. El's hair had been growing since last year when it had been shaved, but she kept it short, to shoulder level. It was now curly, with some lilacs crisscrossed along her forehead to create a headband. Her dress reached just past her ankles, barely touching her sandal covered feet. Max's hair was half up, half down, some of it pulled up into a bun with lilacs encircling it. Both girls had light makeup on their faces and a bouquet of blue and purple flowers in their hands.

Max would be going down the aisle with Will and El with Johnathan.

Max approached Will. "Hey Will." she said.

"Hey Max. You look nice." Will told her.

"Thanks. So do you. How are you feeling?"

"Nervous, a bit. But mostly excited for my mom."

"That's nice. Better then was I feeling when my mom got married." Max responded.

"Should I ask?" Will questioned.

"Not unless you want to walk down the aisle in the next five minutes."

"Alright then."

Max just laughed and pulled Will into a quick side hug. The two had gotten a lot closer after spring break, having gotten singled out by some other dimension monster in common made them bond.

Just then, the trailer door slammed shut. Joyce walked down the steps in a beautiful long wedding dress.

Will and Johnathan stared at their mom for a moment then snapped out of it.

"You look beautiful mom." Johnathan told her.

"Yeah. You look amazing." Will agreed.

"Thank you, boys." Joyce said, hugging them both.

"Not that I want to break up this special moment but if you want Hopper to see you this beautiful, we should probably go." Max joked, earning some laughs.

"Alright, let's do this." Joyce said.

Max went and hooked arms with Will, starting the walk down the aisle.

The ceremony was beautiful.

Afterward, the kids grabbed their night bags, said goodbye to their parents, and climbed into the cars.

They all went to Steve's, which was set up with some long tables with places to sit and eat.

Will set up his video camera at the best angle and then sat down to eat with the rest of the group.

In the middle of eating, toasts were made by Joyce, Hopper, El, and Johnathan. Max and Will were asked if they'd like to one, but neither were very interested.

When they were all done eating, Joyce and Hopper shared their first dance as a married couple.

Lucas, Max, Mike, El, Nancy, and Johnathan joined during the second song.

Will sat in the corner watching all the happy couples dancing, Dustin rapping Eddie and Steve's hear off with Erica rolling her eyes in the background and felt lost.

Where did he belong?

He didn't have a special person to dance with, or an older cool friend to hang out with.

Still deep in thought Will didn't notice Robin plop beside him until she asked, "Will? You with me?"

"Huh?" Will turned his head to look at her. "Oh, yeah sorry."

"Eh, it's fine." Robin brushed it off. "I space out all the time."

Will smirked. It was true.

"So," Robin continued. "How do you feel about your mom being married?"

Will looked at Hopper and Joyce swaying on the dance floor, laughing.

"I think she chose the right guy." he told Robin. "It's just weird that suddenly my mom's married."

Robin laughed. "Dude, Hopper purposed to her last August."

"Still! They were just engaged; it was like they were dating but they knew the actual date and facts about when they were getting married. Now suddenly I'm walking down the aisle and then back down it and my mom's married!"

Robin still was laughing, and Will blushed.

"Sorry, that was a lot."

"It's fine. As well as spacing out, I master the art of rambling."

Will smirked again. It was yet again true.

The conversation was cut off when Joyce announced, it's time for the Mother-Sons dance and the Daddy Daughter dance.

One of the earliest decisions about the wedding was that instead of Hopper and Joyce dancing with their mother and father, it was the other way around. With El dancing with Hopper and Johnathan dancing with Joyce then cutting off in the middle of the song to switch with Will.

"Well, gotta go." Will said standing up. "Duty calls."

"And what a duty it is." Robin chuckled. "Good luck, you'll do great."

Will nodded his thanks and went to stand where he'd be switching with Johnathan.

Will smiled while he waited for his cue.

He'd possibly just found where he belonged.

And what a place it was.

Will was smiling the rest of the night.

AN: Hope you liked it, Section8grl and Boris Yeltsin! Sorry it took so long, Section8grl! So, I don't really know what 80's wedding looked like but I think I did pretty well. Requests are open!
