Summary: El ends up getting drunk at a party. Lucas helps her.

Also, there a lot of vomiting in this one, so if that's not your thing, then you probably shouldn't read this. There's also drinking and partying as well.
El didn't remember much of the night. Just the loud noises and flashing lights.
She'd lost Max about an hour ago.
El couldn't believe she let everyone drag her into this.
People she didn't know were hugging her, there were people making out everywhere, and there was a stench that wavered in the house.
She was just about to leave when someone shoved a red plastic cup in her hand and told her, "I dare you to chug it."
El knew how to chug sodas. Dustin taught her.
But when she looked into the cup, there was a clear-ish, yellow looking liquid in it.
It didn't look like any type of soda she'd ever had before.
And it had that stench.
But the guy dared her. And the boys told her to never back down from a dare. Unless it was a stupid one.
Was this stupid?
Maybe.
But it seemed relatively harmless.
So El put the edge of the cup to her lips and tipped her head back.
The liquid burned on the way down.
She was handed another cup.
She chugged that one.
There was cheering all around her, but it was fuzzy.
El stumbled and went to sit down on a chair.
She almost missed it and landed on the floor.
But she used the arms of the chair to help stabilize herself.
She felt fine.
Until everything got fuzzier.
And fuzzier.
And fuzzier.
Lucas can't believe Max lost El.
"I looked away for a second!" she protested.
"An hour ago! You didn't think to go look for her?" Mike yelled at her.
"I thought she was with you!" Max screamed back.
The 5 of them were standing by Lucas and Will's cars, right outside the house of the party. They stood in silence for a moment.
Finally, "I'm going to look for her."
This came from Max and Mike.
"No!"
This came from Dustin, Lucas, and Will.
Both looked offended.
Lucas put his hands out, trying to keep the peace.
"If you both go, then the house will be wrecked and both of you will go down as the most over protective/insane people in the school."
Max and Mike turned toward each other with hard faces.
"I'm going to look for her!" They both shouted at each other.
Lucas rubbed his hand over his face.
"This clearly isn't going to work." he said, then turned to Dustin and Will. "You guys head out, I got her."
Dustin nodded but Will raised his eyebrow. "You sure?"
"Yeah, I don't have a strict curfew tonight. Parents are out of town and Erica's at a sleepover."
"Wait what?" Max asked. "How is that fair?"
Out of the 6 of them only Will, Lucas, and even El have their licenses. Dustin was about to get his the next week but Max and Mike just had their learner's permits.
If either just Max or Mike went and found El and drove her home if she couldn't, they'd technically be breaking the law. And while they would be driving the chief's daughter home, Hopper wouldn't be exactly thrilled.
But if just Max or just Mike went with Lucas, they'd be whining about unfairness for the next week.
It would take too much time to explain this though, so Lucas went with, "The world's not fair."
And with that, Lucas turned around and started to walk towards the house, ignoring the protests.
Lucas searched up and down the house and finally found who he was looking for.
"El." he breathed and the girl wince at the quiet noise.
El was leaning against a wall, her body curled in on herself.
Lucas crouched down and caught El's daze stare.
"What happened?" he asked and El just grunted.
Lucas sighed and tried to access the situation.
El was obviously drunk. And Hopper would not be happy about that.
But then, he remembered what he told Will.
His house was empty.
His parents weren't supposed to be back until a few days and Erica was supposed to be back by noon. And even if El was still there, she wouldn't tell.
No one would know El had been there. Except Hopper, he'd call him to let him know El was staying with him.
"Alright. Come on." Lucas mumbled and went to El, wrapping an arm around her and hoisting both of them up.
It took a solid 15 minutes of stumbling and pausing to get to the car. El hadn't said a word the entire time, just some incoherent noises.
Lucas sat El down in the passenger seat and pulled the seat belt around her.
"Alright, El." Lucas said as he climbed into the driver's seat and started the car. "Time to get you through a hangover."
El woke up with a groan.
Her eye's fluttered open and her gaze caught Lucas's who had a stack of VHS tapes in his arms.
"Welcome to the land of the living." he said with a sympathetic smirk.
"What happened to me?" El aske, though it came out as a slur.
"You got drunk." Lucas explained. "You already threw up once when we got home, then passed out."
"So it's over?" El asked hopefully.
"Nope, it's just the beginning." Lucas told her.
El frowned in disappointment.
"How do you know this?" she asked.
"I was on the basketball team with Jason Carver." Lucas answered, as if that explained everything.
El nodded though, not wanting to argue.
Lucas turned back around and continued to set up the VHS.
"What are you doing?"
"Putting on a movie. I promise that it will be quiet."
"No," El whined. "My head hurts."
"It will help you start feeling better." Lucas pleaded.
El sighed. "Fine."
Lucas savored the victory and started the movie.
El didn't focus on the movie, only the rising bile in the back of the throat.
She sprung off the couch, ignored Lucas's call and raced to the bathroom.
She made it to the bathroom just in time to empty her the contents of her stomach in the toilet.
El was so immersed in trying not to taste her vomit that she didn't feel the hand running down her back, the other holding back her hair, and a soft voice telling her it was okay and that it will all be over soon.
When she finally stopped and rocked back on her heels, she saw that it had been Lucas helping her.
He handed her a wet towel to wipe her mouth with and helped her stand.
"Thanks." she said hoarsely.
Lucas nodded. "You good to get back to the couch?"
El hummed.
Lucas helped El stumble to the couch.
"I'm tired." she mumbled.
"Then sleep." Lucas told her.
El nodded and closed her eyes.
El ended up throwing up 3 more times.
And each time, Lucas was there, helping her through it.
Lucas had forced her to eat some saltines and drink some Sprite after her fifth time vomiting.
Now, El was sleeping.
Lucas plopped in an armchair, exhausted.
But El seemed to be shaking off her hangover, which was good.
Lucas remembered the first time he was hungover, how Jason had told him that it felt like you're getting split in half. Lucas totally agreed, but he wondered if El would.
El stirred on the couch.
"El?" Lucas stood. "You good? Do you need to throw up again?"
El shook her head. "I feel better." she croaked.
"That's good. Do you want to eat something?"
El gave a slight nod.
El followed Lucas into the kitchen, where he silently started making Eggos.
El smiled.
"Does your head hurt?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah, a bit." El answered.
"Well after you eat your Eggos, I can give you something to help with that."
Lucas placed a plate of Eggos in front of her.
"Thanks Lucas."
"No problem."
"No," El stopped him. "Thank you. For taking care of me. For helping me. For everything."
Lucas smiled at her. "You're welcome. Now eat."
El laughed.
"What?"
"Nothing, it's just you're like are caretaker."
"Drunk El and Caretaker Lucas. Like the ring to it." Lucas joked.
El chuckled.
"Now come on, eat."
"Okay, Caretaker Lucas." El teased.
"Just eat, Drunk El."
