79- Officially Siblings
Summary: El and Will celebrate being siblings.

El and Will sat in the dingy room.
Both were nervous.
This was one of the final processes in the adoption.
It was a very messy situation, with Hopper having to adopt Johnathan and Will, and Joyce having to adopt El.
But now, with all the meetings, the interviews, and the late nights, this was it.
The final meeting.
To officially say that Jim Hopper, Joyce Byers, and all of their kids were a family.
To officially say that Johnathan, Will, and El were siblings.
Will and El sat in silence, until a man with a kind smile and a crooked tie walked in.
"Hey guys," he spoke. "I just have a couple questions for you."
The two looked at each other.
"We're ready."
At first they didn't really know each other.
It makes sense. The first time they met each other was through the void, and afterwards they didn't interact until the next year.
And then, after '84, El went back into hiding for some time.
The summer of '85 was when they got closer, between hanging out with the Party more and dinners with both their families.
Then, Hopper "died" and El moved in with the Byers.
Though it was hard to connect with the grieving girl, Will was able to create a relationship with El.
It became stronger when the Byers moved to California. They each were the others only friend.
So, they got to know each other.
Will found out El's favorite color was purple, she didn't like cats, and that her favorite super hero was Wonder Woman.
El discovered that Will's favorite color was yellow, he didn't like mustard, and that his favorite character in DND was a sorcerer.
But of course, they couldn't tell people about the whole Upside Down business.
So, they told them that Hopper brought El in when her mom died, and the two met in the beginning of 1985. Then, when Hopper died, the Byers took El in.
Just a simple cover story.
They were getting good at those.
El and Will sat in the booth, waiting for their ice cream.
The two were officially siblings.
To celebrate, ice cream.
Obviously.
The waitress set down El's mint chip milkshake and Will's vanilla sundae.
Johnathan would be joining them later, he was busy applying to colleges.
"So, what now?" El asked, taking a big sip of her milkshake.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, do we do something different? Instead of what we were doing before?"
Will put a spoonful of sundae in his mouth, thinking.
"I don't think so." he finally said.
El furrowed her eyebrows. "Then, what was the point of all of this?"
"To make it official." Will shrugged. "It doesn't change anything though. We were always siblings. From meeting in the void, to saving the world for a fourth time."
El slurped her milkshake.
"Yeah, you're right." she smiled. "We were always siblings, huh?"
Will nodded. "Yeah, yeah we were.
"Well, I'm glad that you're officially my brother, Will."
"And I'm glad that you're officially my sister, El."
