El was supposed to be winning.

Dustin felt bad for her, the entire plan was based around that fact and that's a lot of pressure, but she'd assured them she would win.

Apparently, friends do lie.

Cause when El went down, all hopes for the others went down with her.

They got picked off one by one.

First Max.

Then Mike.

Lucas was next.

Erica soon after.

Robin and Eddie went down with each other.

Nancy fought back well, but wasn't strong enough.

Dustin was amazed he was still standing.

Will was down.

Dustin guessed he was next.

He would be right, Vecna turned towards him, and Dustin felt himself getting pushed back.

Dustin's head slammed back against the wall, making his vision blurry.

The last thing he saw was his big brother, facing Vecna.

Then, darkness.

Steve looked around.

All of his friends were down.

It was a horrific scene.

Steve could see them all breathing, assuring him that they were alive.

Apparently Vecna didn't knock them out completely, El and Max were starting to stir.

But they were all injured.

They wouldn't be any help to Steve.

Vecna was slowly walking towards him.

This was their last chance.

Steve had to do something.

But what?

He didn't have much to think about when he glanced over and saw Vecna had broken Max's arm again.

The same arm he broke before. That took so long to heal. That made Max cry multiple times.

Steve then saw El's shoulder. It looked dislocated.

He kept glancing around, Mike's nose looked broken, Erica's ankle was swollen, Robin had a nasty gash on her head.

All of his friends were hurt.

But then Steve's gaze landed on his baby brother.

He wasn't awake yet, but his face was scrunched up in pain.

Dustin was in pain.

All of his friends were in pain.

Steve felt angry.

Really angry.

His eyes narrowed at Vecna, not noticing the rising water of the lake that they were fighting by.

Not noticing the rising rock formations next to him.

But everyone else noticed.

They tried to get Steve's attention, to warn him about the stranger things that were going on around him, but he wouldn't listen.

Anger covered his five senses, making them staticky and unusable.

The rock formations grew taller and taller, as did the water.

Then, they were bolting towards Vecna.

In a blink of the eye, the growing elements became weapons, striking against Vecna, pushing him back.

Huh?

Steve stood across from the debris.

Everyone stayed there in shock.

Until vines wrapped around the rocks, shoving them away, revealing Vecna.

Great.

El was too weak from the attack to do anything, as was the rest of the Party.

Except Steve.

He was the last one standing.

And he had powers?

No one was sure what was happening.

First of all, Steve? Having powers?

And second of, Steve never was the last one standing in a fight.

So, this was all new.

Steve wasn't sure what was happening. He didn't know he had powers. How to control them. How to use them.

But Vecna was in front of him, ready to fight, not giving him a chance to learn how to use his powers.

So, Steve had to fight.

He hated Tuesdays.

Dustin didn't know what was happening.

It was a reoccurring theme lately.

Apparently, his older brother had powers.

It was taking a minute to process.

But they didn't have a minute. Because Steve started to fight Vecna.

A huge splash of water hit Vecna, causing him to tumble back, but after he got his ground he seemed to grow taller.

Okay, so not a good idea.

Before Steve could do anything, he was getting tossed against a rock.

Everyone winced.

Steve groaned, getting up. His head hurt.

Great, another concussion.

Why'd Vecna have to throw him against rocks?

Wait.

Rocks.

He was able to control them earlier.

Maybe he can now.

Concentrating, Steve made the rocks float.

They floated high, above the trailers surrounding them.

Vecna tried to bring the rocks down, but Steve's control was stronger.

Dustin ducked when the rocks streaked past him, barreling into Vecna once again.

It didn't do as much damage as it did the first time, but it did more than the water did.

Vecna was caught by his vines, looking angrier than before.

Steve was suddenly tied up by vines, swirling around his torso and tightening around his neck.

Despite their exhaustion, everyone tried to stand, tried to help. But vines swooped over them, tying them down. El tried to free herself, but their grip was too strong.

All they could do was watch.

Steve felt the air leave his lungs, not coming back.

The world was getting blurrier and

e r.

This was it.

This was when Steve Harrington died.

Wait.

If he was dying, why could he breath now?

The air filled his lungs and Steve savored the feeling.

But how did the vines loosen? Vecna didn't do it, he was trying to kill him.

Steve looked over to El. She looked just as confused as he did.

The vines were completely off him now and Steve was lowered to the ground.

Steve then felt a breeze against his skin, chilling him slightly.

It wasn't windy when they started this.

He could control wind too?

This was getting stranger and stranger.

But he could use this to his advantage.

Steve started moving the wind towards Vecna, who had no idea what was going on.

Until his vines started breaking.

He fell to the ground and Steve made the wind hold him down.

The wind pressed down more and more, until Vecna couldn't possibly escape.

But indeed, he could.

The wind was quickly overpowered by Vecna's powers.

Steve's rule was compromised suddenly and soon he floating high in the air, similar to the rocks.

This didn't make sense.

Steve had had total control of Vecna.

So why he is he overpowering him now?

Steve didn't have another moment to think about it, he was soon thrown into a trailer.

He really did hate Tuesdays.

"STEVE!"

Steve groaned and looked up to see Dustin, still tied down by vines.

"Hey Dustin." he greeted.

Dustin rolled his eyes. "You okay?"

"Just peachy."

This elected another eye roll. "How do you think he became more powerful?"

Steve shrugged. "I don't know. He seemed to have the upper hand when I attacked him with water and wind."

"Speaking of that, when were you going to tell me- that's it!" Dustin exclaimed.

"That's what?"

"How he became more powerful. The water and wind were probably cold, charging his powers." Dustin explained.

Steve followed his train of thought. "So I need to ambush him with something hot. But what is that?"

The brothers sat in thought for a moment.

"Fire! You can attack him with fire. You can control wind, water, and earth, right? Then you can control fire. The four elements."

Steve nodded. "Just one little flaw in your plan. I don't know how to do that!"

Dustin huffed. "Well, how did you do the other things."

"I don't know! This whole powers thing is new to me!" Steve exclaimed.

"Well, figure it out!" Dustin hissed, Vecna was stalking around El, looking ready to strike.

"I hate having powers." Steve whined.

"Look on the bright side, you've been looking for a reason to bond with El. You've got one. Now go!" Dustin jerked his head.

Steve sighed.

Did he mention he hated Tuesdays?

Steve crouched down, making sure he couldn't be seen by Vecna.

Finding a board, Steve tried to light it on fire.

The first attempts did not have successes.

But when he heard Vecna growl out to El that it was the end, he was able to find a spark.

After a couple more tries, the board finally caught on fire.

Now to do it to Vecna.

Steve walked out into the center of the circle Vecna created with his friends.

"Vecna!" he called. "This ends now."

Vecna turned.

Steve tried to remain confident.

Vecna said nothing, just floating out to the center of the arena.

"Well then," he started. "Let's get to it."

And up Steve went.

Higher and higher until Steve couldn't breathe due to the altitude.

Then down, down, down he went. Back to the villain.

He dropped Steve on the ground.

Steve's turn.

Steve took a deep breath, and concentrated.

He concentrated on his friends.

Their lives were in his hands.

But no pressure.

How did El do this every year?

Steve should ask her after.

But first, killing Vecna.

Steve focused on a vine carrying Vecna, catching it on fire.

Vecna howled, trying to push the flame off of him.

But Steve was stronger.

The flame devoured Vecna.

The vines wrapped around the Party disintegrated.

And then, Vecna was gone.

Dead.

Silence.

Then, cheering.

Everyone jumped up and down.

Finally, Vecna was gone.

Thanks to Steve.

Dustin ran up for hug, followed by El.

Then everyone else, despite their injuries. They were all focused on one thing.

A group hug.

The group hug dispersed, everyone still celebrating.

Steve was the happiest of all.

The partying died down afterwards and that's when they all voiced something.

"Steve, you have powers?!"
