Bepo ran forward when he saw Katrina start to pitch forward and managed to catch her before she could hit the ground. Rolling her over to see her face, Bepo stilled at the sight of blood. The blood she'd coughed up while singing had started trailing down her chin and neck, staining the collar of her yellow shirt.
"What's wrong with her?"
He heard Nikkicha ask in concern but Bepo didn't know so he simply shook his head.
"Captain's alive!"
Penguin shouted, gaining everyone's attention. Bepo looked over towards Law to see the steady rise and fall of his chest that had once stopped moving. He didn't know how it was possible, but Katrina had somehow brought their Captain back.
"Do as Kat said and take him to his room."
Bepo said, taking the initiative to start getting the crew under control again. Jambarl picked Law up before following Penguin and Shachi as they led the way onto the submarine, instructing the larger man on how to get to their captain's quarters.
"How….How did she do that?"
Nikkicha asked as Bepo pulled Katrina's unconscious form closer to himself then got to his feet.
"I don't know."
Bepo said looking down at Katrina's face, wondering that himself before walking up the gangplank and boarding the sub.
"What should we do?"
Nikkicha asked, seeming just as lost as the rest of them with their captain out of commission and the only one who had any answers to their questions also unconscious.
"We'll do as she said for now."
He said before continuing into the sub and heading for Katrina's room.
Laying the brunette on her bed, Bepo then padded into the small bathroom attached to the room only to reappear shortly with a rag and basin of water. He set about cleaning the blood from her face, relieved to see none replaced it as he started wiping the dried crimson from her pale skin. His eyes scanned her body for any additional traces of blood before rinsing the rag. The water quickly turned pink, as did the fur on his paws, but Bepo paid it no mind. Returning to his self-appointed job, Bepo went to wipe some remaining blood from Katrina's collar bone that he'd missed and felt his eyes widen at the scars cleaning the blood revealed. He'd never really taken the time to look this closely at her before, but now that he had Bepo could see what looked like burns scattered across the spanse of her left and right collar bones. One burn was large enough that it disappeared and continued over her shoulder. A growl found its way to the back of Bepo's throat at the thought of someone hurting the brunette in front of him.
"Bepo, you need to come see this."
Penguin's voice called from the doorway, pulling Bepo from his musings and he saw his crewmate leaning against the door jam as he waited for Bepo to respond. Instead, Bepo set the rag on the rim of the basin of water he'd set next to Katrina's bed. He took one last look at the sleeping brunette before turning and following Penguin out into the hall.
Closing the door after him, Bepo followed Penguin and was a little surprised to find they were heading for the captain's room. Upon sliding in after Penguin the first mate saw the rest of the crew that had been on the island with them were all inside as well. They stood around the bed their captain currently occupied.
"What's going on?"
The furry first mate asked confused, wondering why everyone was gathered here.
"Captain's wounds….they're….they're gone."
Shachi said, answering Bepo's question, making the polar bear turn to look in the red-head's direction before he turned back towards Law. Walking over to the side of the bed and checking for himself, Bepo's eyes widened at seeing the wound that had gone through Law's chest and killed him was gone. The wound that had been on his abdomen was gone as well, not even a scar left in its place.
"How?"
Bepo found himself asking for what felt like the hundredth time that day only for the rest of his crewmates to all shake their heads.
"We don't know. I noticed it as Jambarl was laying the Captain down."
Shachi provided and Bepo frowned slightly. He had so many questions and he was sure the others did too. Though none of that seemed to matter right now, seeing how nothing could be done until either Katrina or Law woke up.
Katrina groaned as she came to and slowly opened her eyes. Blinking the sleep from her eyes the brunette tried to figure out where she was but she was still disoriented. She could feel the mattress beneath her and the gentle swaying motion had her thinking she was back on the submarine, but that couldn't be right.
'They...they didn't leave me?'
Katrina wondered as she pushed herself into a sitting position. Her head spun for a second and she had to close her eyes against the feeling until it subsided. When she opened them again she stared at her room in absolute bewilderment. She really was in her room on the sub.
'I don't understand….'
Katrina thought with a confused frown as she threw her legs over the side of the bed. She stopped to look down at herself and her frown deepened when she saw the dried blood on her shirt. She noticed the lack of blood on her skin and saw the basin of water sitting on the table next to her bed.
Getting to her feet after deciding it was probably best to get changed before seeing the others, Katrina glanced towards the door to the left of the bed. A shower sounded like heaven and it would give her some time alone to process her thoughts.
'I'm sure they'll have questions…'
Katrina thought as she cautiously made her way across her room towards the door. It had been a while since the last time she'd used her powers, but judging from how easy it was to walk the brunette guessed she'd been out for a good couple hours at least.
Opening the door, Katrina couldn't help but smile as she cut the light on. It might have been small, but she had a private bathroom all to herself. Beige colored tiles lead to a toilet to the left and a sink a few paces from it. There was a cabinet built above the toilet filled with towels and spare washcloths. Across from the toilet was a glass-doored shower that seemed to be calling her name.
The tiles were cold as she walked into the private bathroom and started stripping out of her clothes. The water took no time to heat up and when she stepped into the spray of the water she nearly moaned. She could feel her muscles start to relax as the hot water rained down from the showerhead. Grabbing a fresh washcloth that was hanging on the towel rack, Katrina started the process of cleaning the blood, dirt, and grime from her body while trying to get her thoughts in order. She still couldn't believe she had woken up on the sub. She supposed it was silly, being afraid of being left again, but it would have made more sense if Bepo and the others had left her behind. Sure they'd not get answers to their questions then, but who would want to keep someone like her around after witnessing what she just did? She already knew how dispensable she was. It wasn't like she'd been a member of the Heart Pirates for years, and even if she had, that wouldn't have made a difference. It sure didn't with her old crew. And yet….. why did they bring her back with them then?
Finishing her shower, Katrina stepped out and wrapped a towel around her before walking back into her room to find something to wear. Opening her dresser the brunette picked a random shirt and pulled it over her head before grabbing a pair of pants and doing the same. It didn't matter what she wore, she needed to talk to the crew and explain herself. She knew they had questions and would most likely want some answers before they kicked her out. Running a brush through her hair, Katrina took one last moment to collect herself before heading for the galley. She wasn't sure where the rest of the crew was, but she had a feeling that was the best place to start.
"Don't bother her! She needs her rest!"
Katrina heard a voice shout from up ahead as she made her way down the hallway leading towards the galley. Looks like she was right in thinking it was a good place to start. Coming to stop a few feet from the door leading to the galley, Katrina tentatively peeked through one of the windows at the top to see Nikkicha standing with her back to the door and barring the way for any of the others to leave. Looking past the blonde, Katrina saw Bepo and Jambarl sitting at the table while Penguin and Shachi were trying to get past the female mechanic.
"She's been asleep for six hours Nikki! She needs to wake up and start explaining how she brought the Captain back!"
Penguin shouted as he charged at Nikki, ducking under her arm and running towards the door only to get grabbed from behind and tossed back towards the table by Nikkicha.
"I said let her rest!"
The blonde shouted back, glaring at Shachi who held his hands up in surrender.
"Come on Nikki, don't you want to know what we saw?"
Penguin whined as he took a few steps towards the door again.
"If anyone wants to bother her they'll have to get past me first."
Nikkicha said, placing her hands on her hips. Katrina could see Penguin and Shachi exchange an uncomfortable look between them before they both sat down at the table with Bepo and Jambarl.
Deciding she'd hid long enough Katrina pushed open the door to the galley and slowly walked in.
"It's okay Nikki, I'm awake."
Katrina said and didn't miss the way everyone's eyes instantly snapped to her as she fully walked into the room. She ignored their questioning gazes as she sat down next to Bepo and nearly screamed in surprise when his arms suddenly wrapped around her, pulling her into a literal bear hug. She hesitated before placing a hand on his head and running her fingers through his fur.
'At least Bepo doesn't seem to hate me.'
She let him pull away when he started to and was surprised to see him smiling at her.
"Okay. You've got some things to explain Katrina."
Penguin said and Katrina internally flinched at the sharp tone to his voice when he said her name.
"I know and I won't hide anythin' from you."
Katrina said with what she hoped was an earnest smile, before taking a moment to calm her nerves.
"Ask me anything."
She prompted, hoping it would help ease the tension in the room.
"How did you bring the captain back to life?"
Penguin asked, wasting no time at all in getting to the point. Chewing the inside of her lip for a moment in thought, Katrina decided to start with the basics.
"You're all aware of Devil Fruits. Law ate one and so did I. There are three types of Devil Fruits, mine is a Paramecia called the Tamashi Tamashi no Mi. The thin' with Devil Fruits, you sometimes don't know what power you'll get until after consuming one. It doesn't take the whole fruit mind you, a single bite will do."
Katrina explained and watched as Penguin looked at Shachi, seemingly to gauge his opinion on what they were being told. Yet the red-head simply sat with an almost surprised look on his face, but disbelief was the main emotion she saw. She resumed chewing on the inside of her lip as she waited for more questions.
"Why did you eat it?"
Bepo's voice called from the head of the table next to Jambarl.
"When did you eat it?"
Jambarl's soft baritone called from next to him. Katrina was relieved that they were interested but didn't seem to share the same scared mindset as the others. Maybe they didn't care? As if she could be that lucky.
"It was two weeks after I'd first joined my old crew, we were called the Swift Pirates. We'd just beaten a rival crew we'd come across while leaving an island after the log pose set. We were low on supplies so the haul of food was more treasure than gold. Since I was in charge of the inventory I saw what food came in. Among the bounty was a Devil Fruit. The rule onboard the ship was the one to find it eats it. I hadn't wanted to at first, I love swimmin' and what sense did it make for a pirate to eat a fruit that makes that impossible? What if I fell in the ocean?"
Katrina asked with a laugh, the sound of another laugh nearly made her jump out of her skin. Looking up she saw Penguin was the cause.
"You have a point there!"
He shouted and Katrina had to wonder what exactly he found so funny about what she said?
"However, after a few days of talkin' it over with Captain Loki I decided it would be worth it to be strong enough to face the New World together."
Katrina stopped and looked down at the table, silence filling the room. She could feel an empty hole near her heart at the thought of Loki. The red-haired, emerald eyed man had stolen her heart and she'd given him nothing but her fullest self and he simply threw her away. He had rescued her from the hell she'd been forced to live in, and given her a chance at freedom. She'd gotten the family she'd always wanted after losing Sara…..and then he just took that all away from her. They all did. But why?
"You sound awful fond of your old Captain."
Shachi said, cutting through the silence.
"Yea, well the reason for that bein' we were an item."
Katrina confessed and didn't miss the surprised looks of everyone else at the table.
"Why aren't you still with him and the Swift Pirates then? Why were you on the archipelago at a brothel?"
Nikkicha asked curiously and Katrina honestly couldn't blame her. From everything she'd said so far it wouldn't make much sense why she was on the archipelago alone.
"Well you see….."
Katrina started but trailed off unsure of where to begin. She glanced up at Bepo and noticed that there was a hint of pink to the fur on his paws. He nodded in her direction, a silent boost of encouragement that it was okay to keep going.
"Three years ago me and my crew had reached the archipelago in our journey through the Grand Line. We needed to get our ship coated and had met with the Ship Coater already so we were enjoyin' ourselves while waiting the three days needed to do the job. Captain Loki chose the brothel to please the other men for their hard work. We all drank and had a pretty good time actually and eventually we all conked out. Only thin', I was the only one actually drinkin'. The others were just pretendin' so they could all leave me behind."
"THEY DID WHAT!?"
Came the collective shouted responses of the others. Katrina blinked in surprise and felt something wet fall down her face. She knew she was still raw from what happened, but hadn't expected to cry discussing it.
"I was woken by the brothel owner Jericho, he was furious the Captain and the others left without payin' the tab from the night before. I told him I'd go get the Captain and we'd pay because we still had a full day til we could set sail. Or so I thought."
Katrina took a moment to gauge the reactions in the room. From what she could tell the others seemed to be believing her so far. The most surprising thing was how outraged they had sounded upon hearing she had been left behind. She hadn't thought she had much of a place on the crew aside from the woman who throws some food together and plays sarcastic cat and mouse with their captain.
"When I got to the Grove we'd docked at, the ship was gone. It wasn't until a couple hours later that I ran into Shakky who told me Ray had finished coatin' the ship early. I guess the Captain and the others didn't think I was worth bringin' along to the New World."
"Oh Kat!"
Nikkicha cried before leaping from her seat and basically tackling Katrina out of hers as the other woman hugged her.
"I'm so sorry something so horrible happened to you! Please don't think we would ever leave you, you're one of us!"
The blonde shouted as she pulled away and blue met blue. Katrina could tell how serious Nikkicha was about what she shouted and Katrina felt even more tears fall as she hugged the blonde mechanic back.
"That still doesn't tell us how you brought back the Captain."
Shachi's voice interrupted only for his head to suddenly be shoved forward onto the table.
"Shut the hell up man! Can't you tell she's been through enough!"
Penguin yelled at his friend as he took his hand away.
"I didn't say I disagreed Kat is a cool person who went through hell from the sound of it, I'm just saying I still wanna know how she did it."
Shachi said in his defense, offering Katrina a friendly smile before tugging the front of his hat down to shadow his eyes and the blush that was on his face.
Releasing Nikkicha and changing topics, Katrina wondered how they would react? Would they be as warm and positive as just now? If so, then she truly couldn't have hoped to find a better group of people. Maybe being part of a loving family isn't just a pipedream.
"My Devil Fruit is rather strange, but to put it as short as possible, it allows me to lure nearby lurkin' spirits of the deceased."
Katrina explained and wasn't surprised at the responses she heard.
"Woah, that's freaky."
"No kidding."
Penguin and Shachi said in unison and the brunette could see Nikkicha shiver as the image no doubt went through her mind. Bepo and Jambarl were the only two who didn't seem bothered by the information.
"I have the ability to see and communicate with the souls of the deceased. My fruit gave me the ability to control said spirits. I've tried speakin' to them, but they never responded. They seem to like it when I sing. Then they listen."
Katrina explained and fell quiet after waiting to hear what, if anything, the others had to say.
"So does that mean you could have them do anything you asked?"
Jambarl asked, being the first to break the settled silence.
"I'm not sure. I've never really asked anythin' other than to come home."
"Home?"
Bepo asked confused, one of his ears twitching making Katrina smile slightly.
"Back to their body. Usin' the song you heard before when I used my power on Law, I ask the souls of the deceased nearby to return to the place they call home."
"That sounds lovely."
Penguin sighed and Katrina's smile faded.
"You would think, but there's a price that must be paid for such action."
Katrina said, cutting into Penguin's happy daydream of souls going back to their bodies while listening to that hauntingly beautiful song from before.
"As you saw it takes quite a toll on my body. The amount of damage it takes on me varies by the amount of damage done to the one I'm attemptin' to bring back."
She explained and heard Nikkicha and Shachi gasp and Penguin look between them confused.
"So the reason the Captain's wounds are gone…."
Nikkicha started and Katrina only nodded in silence.
"...was because you took the damage while asking his soul to come back."
Shachi finished the blonde's statement and a heavy silence covered the room.
"You could die!"
Bepo was the first to say anything else and Katrina thought she might tear up again at the polar bear's face as he looked at her, understanding finally dawning on him and the others just what the price was she paid upon using her Devil Fruit powers.
"My captain first learned of my Devil Fruit powers was when a rival crew ambushed us and managed to put a bullet through his eyes before he could even draw his own pistol. The other pirate also ran him through just for good measure, then made off with the map we'd been after. We had heard some rumors about an island in the sky and were hopin' to learn more. I of course immediately got the crew to take the captain to his quarters where I did as you all saw me do. I called my captain's soul back, but the restoration of his body took a heavy toll. The Tamashi Tamashi no Mi takes the user's own lifespan to heal any and all damage done to the body before helping to reconnect the soul to the home body."
Katrina said and could see more than a couple of her crewmates were confused.
"I felt the piercin', white-hot stabbin' feelin' of a bullet flyin' through my brain, but the wound was only three inches deep on my forehead in the spot Captain Loki was shot. I learned what it felt like to be ran through that day as well, it's not a feelin' i'm likely to forget. Blood dripped from my nose and the corners of my eyes, I remember everythin' I saw that day looked pink. But I was goin' to do it, I was goin' to bring back the man I loved."
Katrina said before trailing off, once more looking at the table with interest.
"What happened next?"
Nikkicha asked softly and Katrina's gaze shifted from the table to the blonde.
"That was the one and only time I nearly died when usin' my powers. Other times have hurt like hell and been debatably worth usin' them in the first place. After a while, I swore to never use it again. Loki wasn't too keen on the idea when I told him. He had seen my Devil Fruit powers as a guaranteed win for him and the crew. He never seemed to care all that much how much it hurt me to repeatedly bring him and any who died back. I was with them for two years. I thought of them as my family, and wanted to do anythin' for them. However, when I told Loki I refused to use my power anymore he suddenly acted cold towards me. He was always short, and curt when speakin' to me when before he had been so warm and kind."
Katrina said, fondly remembering the way her old captain used to be before smiling sadly to herself.
"I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to find they abandoned me. I no longer had any use for them."
She said, before smiling slightly and looking up at the others.
"I stayed on the archipelago since, tryin' to pay back the debt we had racked up that night. Jericho had wanted me to become one of his workin' girls. I told him to get lost. So I had been pickpocketing and was nearin' payin' it back when I happened across Bepo and now here we are."
Katrina said with a smile, finished with her explanation unless given further prompt.
"That is one terrifyingly badass Devil Fruit ability."
Shachi said, his voice full of absolute disbelief, but his eyes told another story. She had no reason to lie to them and had even told them she wouldn't hold anything back. He had no reason to suspect anything she'd just told them to be untrue. That being said, it was still a lot to take in.
"It's not every day we get to see someone raise people from the dead."
Penguin said with a smile appearing on her right side before swinging his arm around her shoulders and bringing his head in close to hers. Katrina froze, unsure what he was doing.
"Peeeenguiin…"
Nikkicha warned from beside them and Penguin quickly disentangled himself from Katrina and took a few steps back, pleasing the blonde mechanic and earning him a smile. Katrina found the two absolutely adorable and hoped they realized the chemistry between them. Katrina sat in the galley and smiled for the first time in what felt like a lifetime. She truly felt welcomed and happy in this moment.
Law opened his eyes and a few seconds passed in hazy confusion before he shot up and brought a hand up to his chest expecting to feel the hole there only to find smooth skin in its place. The dark doctor looked down as his mind raced to recall what happened. Staring in shock at finding no hole in his chest. No scar remained to tell where there once was a hole either, meaning no one stitched his wounds closed. So where did they go? He remembered being shot right there by Kuma's attack. He frowned when he noticed the stab wound he'd gotten from that Marine earlier was also gone, the sutures he had given himself were now gone. As grateful as the pirate captain was to be alive and breathing, he was severely confused as to how exactly that was the case when he distinctly remembered dying.
"I said no dammit, now go back to the galley before I kick both of your asses!"
Law looked towards his bedroom door at the sound of voices on the other side. He threw the covers back and got to his feet before making his way towards the door, stumbling a few times on his way but getting the hang of it after a few moments. The voices became easier to make out the closer to the door he got.
"He's been asleep for three days!"
Law heard Penguin shout from the other side and that made him freeze with his hand on the handle to the door..
Three days?
Law wondered to himself and stood just in front of his door and listened to the conversation going on on the other side.
"I told you it may be awhile before he wakes up! What the hell did you expect? I brought his ass back to life, not back from vacation!"
Katrina's voice sounded from the other side and despite his confusion, Law still couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the brunette's temper.
"Still, it's been three days Kat!"
Shachi's voice shouted from out in the hall and Law decided it was time he had a talk with his cook and he honestly didn't feel like dealing with the additional headache of dealing with his no doubt emotional crew. Besides, all their yelling was starting to give him a headache anyways so it had to stop.
Opening the door, Law blinked to allow his eyes to adjust to the slightly brighter lighting in the hall before he saw Penguin and Shachi stop in their tracks upon seeing him, Katrina had her back to him and was looking at both of them confused before finally putting it together and turning to face him she offered him a small smile that made him resist doing the same.
"Captain, thank God you're awake!"
Penguin said, but Law ignored him completely as he wrapped an arm around Katrina's waist, then pulled her into his room, shutting the door behind them. He dragged her away from the door, but let go of her once they'd reached the middle of his room. Walking back over to his bed, Law sat down on the edge and watched the brown haired woman standing a few feet away from him. He could see she was uncomfortable, but relieved to see him. Law's eyebrow rose when he noticed the pink tint to Katrina's face and followed her gaze to see it was on his shirtless form. It would seem whoever carried him to the room had also changed him into his sleeping pants.
"Where are we?"
Law asked, looking back up at her and saw she jumped just slightly at his question.
"We're a couple feet away from the island. You never actually gave the order to leave, so we just dove to get out of sight."
Katrina explained and Law nodded as he took the information in. Does that mean the chaos of the Auction House was over? Three days had passed, what had he missed while he was out? He needed to find Bepo, but first, he wanted some answers from the newest member of his crew. This time, he was getting all of them.
"So, how is it that I'm alive?"
Law asked casually as he leaned forward and rest his elbows on his knees, interlocking his fingers before him as he did so.
"It had never been brought up, so I never said anythin'. I ate the Tamashi Tamashi no Mi sortly after joinin' the Swift Pirates and gained a power that is beyond what should be capable of man."
Katrina said quietly, staring at her hands.
"What kind of power?"
Law asked, not letting her continue with her vague answers. She wasn't leaving until all of his questions were answered and he was completely satisfied.
Silence fell over the room after Katrina's full explanation of her Devil Fruit abilities and Law had to admit her description had been rather spot on. To think someone possessed such an ability. Though from the ramifications, Law could also understand Katrina's hesitancy in using and talking about her fruit.
"What exactly was your connection with your old Captain?"
He asked, moving on to his next topic of interest now that one had been answered. Law could tell Katrina was uneasy with this topic and his mouth drew in a tight line at confirming his suspicions, yet he remained quiet as Katrina started answering his question.
"I was his first mate, and also his girl. We weren't that serious, we'd never…...I mean, we hadn't…"
Katrina started, but trailed off with a bright crimson flush to her cheeks as she looked away from him. Law couldn't help but smirk at her innocence, ignoring the relief he felt at learning such information. He was about to ask something else when she continued in a softer voice than before.
"Loki...He came to my hometown and offered me a way out. So I took it. I didn't let anyone close to me at first and mainly stuck to Loki's side since he had been the one who helped take me away from my home. The crew risked their lives for me durin' a fight once where I'd been knocked down and didn't give me the chance afterwards to keep my distance. I grew to think of them as my family, my friends. I got closer to them, but I also got closer to Loki."
She said and Law searched her face for any hint of betrayal or longing of her old crew, but found nothing but sadness in her blue-green eyes. He noticed she shifted her gaze to the space between them and her hair had fallen so he could no longer see her face. She continued speaking, telling more about herself without him even needing to ask further questions.
"He taught me how to fight. Then he helped me to refine those skills. Shortly after I became his first mate. I'd joined them when I was seventeen, I'd spent two years with them and found myself falling for my captain. Come to find out he felt the same and asked me to be his girl, of course I agreed."
Law frowned at what he heard. He knew this was all in the past and this was exactly what he'd wanted, even asked of her, and yet he felt an angry feeling well up in his gut at the mention of her old Captain.
"We were in the middle of a battle with a rival crew when Loki was suddenly mortally wounded. We brought him back to the ship once everythin' had calmed down. I stayed with him until he passed, there was nothin' the doctor was able to do for him. I loved this man, and was willin' to die for him and his dream. So I used my power, that's where it all went wrong."
Katrina said and Law looked up at her change in tone.
"Afterwards, I was recoverin' for two days. Loki thought I was some miracle provin' he was meant to be King of the Pirates. It also meant he became a lot more reckless and didn't bother to try and prevent his death seein' how I could just bring him back. Two more times followed, the second I almost died and that was when I told him I refused to use my ability ever again. I thought he would understand, he loved me right?"
She questioned, looking up at Law for once and he felt his heart constrict inside his chest when he saw tears in her eyes.
"Instead, he got pissed and threw me out of our room. That was about a week before we docked here at the Archipelago. We all walked into the brothel you and your crew found me in when you came to thank me. We drank and celebrated til we passed out. Only I was the only one who really fell asleep, the others left a day ahead of schedule and left me behind with the tab. I thought I'd heard Loki speakin' to me that night right before I fell asleep at the table after my last beer. He'd said he had no need for weak people in his crew or sharin' his bed, not that we ever did. At first I'd thought it had been a dream until I woke up to Jericho demandin' answers and payment."
Katrina used her hands to wipe her eyes and Law picked up a box of tissues before holding them out to her. She took one with a soft thank you that made his ears hurt to hear. It sounded so pitiful and small. It did not fit the woman standing across from him.
"That's everythin'. They took me away from the hell I'd been born into, made me think they cared for me and left me behind without so much as a goodbye."
Law wasn't too sure how to respond to what Katrina just told him. He knew she'd had a relationship with her old Captain for her to have had such a strong reaction back at the auction house, but he hadn't been expecting that. Just thinking about it made him extremely displeased. She'd been so upset her nails had dug into the palm of her hand and into his arm. That had also been the first time he'd seen her cry.
"Is that all you wanted babe, 'cuz if there's nothin' else I'd like to get some rest."
Katrina said suddenly, voice sounding detached, drawing Law's attention from his thoughts and back to the fact he held her prisoner in his room at the moment and hadn't given her permission to leave.
"That's all."
He said as he watched her turn and head towards the door. He expected her to keep going so was surprised when he heard her speak again.
"I won't go back to him or that crew, this is my family now."
She said and before Law could even say anything she slipped out of his room and closed the door behind her.
