"So how did you know I was in the area?" Kagami asked stuffing a pocky stick in his mouth. Two packets of pocky were all Kise could afford apparently along with a bottle of iced tea.

Kise let out an awkward chuckle and replied, "I didn't know actually. Kurokocchi did mention that some of Seirin was already in Kanagawa and he said he gave my number to them in case they got lost. When you called me, I was in a state of panic and just shouted what came to mind."

"So you were lucky I was in the area," Kagami muttered. He stuffed two more pocky sticks in his mouth and chewed them.

"I was. But even if you weren't in the area, I'm sure you would've told Kurokocchi or called someone but it might've been too late by then. It must've been fate, right Kagamicchi?"

"Fate my ass. You're so cheesy,"

"So mean~"

The next day.

The doctor reviewed Kagami's stab wound once again and discharged him from the hospital. Kagami was given some advice on how to clean and take care of the wound and was told not to engage in any vigorous exercise that might open the stitches. Kise was with him throughout the whole thing and he even jotted down the doctor's words on a piece of paper which Kagami honestly thought was completely unnecessary but made no movement to stop the blond.

Kagami understood that Kise still harbored guilt for the incident and decided (for his own sanity) that instead of constantly shooing the blond away, it was better to let him do what he wanted until he let go of his guilt. That wouldn't take too long - or so he assumed.

It seemed that Kagami greatly underestimated Kise's feelings.

"What are you doing here?" Kagami glared at the figure standing outside his hotel door.

"Obviously I'm here to take care of Kagamicchi - ssu," Kise gave a bright close-eyed smile. In his right hand was a plastic bag of vitamins and nutrients along with some bandages and painkillers.

Kagami wanted to let out a lengthy sigh, "It's the third day already Kise. You don't have to be this excessive...and you're really getting on my nerves!"

"Mou, don't be like that. I know you love having me around fussing over you~" Kise wiggled his way around Kagami's figure to enter the room.

Kagami closed the door and sneered, "No, I really don't."

In response to Kagami's bluntness, Kise laughed and happily made himself comfortable on the bed whilst grabbing the tv remote and switching it on.

"Unbelievable..." Kagami muttered. He was far too tired to voice any more protest and grudgingly lay next to Kise on the bed, not before sending one more scathing look at the blond.

Kise flipped through the channels but couldn't find anything interesting so he decided to scroll through the movies provided. He ended up choosing Godzilla much to Kagami's distaste.

"Godzilla? Really? There are so many better movies than that!" Kagami argued.

"What's wrong with Godzilla?! It's a classic," Kise retorted.

"It's boring. Let me choose - hand the remote,"

"No way. We're watching this one,"

Kagami growled, "This is MY hotel room. So I should be the one to choose!"

"But I'm your guest so I should choose!" Kise scooted away from Kagami holding the remote out of the latter's reach.

"No one invited you - You barged in here!" Kagami shouted whilst reaching over Kise to grab the remote. His body was almost entirely on the blond.

Kise squeaked and cried, "Alright alright I'll give it to you. Just stop moving! You might tear your stitches."

He quickly handed the remote to Kagami who smirkingly took it. He was about to say something when he realized their position and blushed. Kise was beneath Kagami who was practically straddling him at this point.

"Wow Kagamicchi, didn't know you swung that way," Kise teased.

Kagami nearly punched him, "Shut up! Like hell I swing that way - even if I did, what makes you think I'd hit on you?"

As Kagami shuffled off the blond, Kise couldn't help but gasp at his words. He took offense to that, "Who wouldn't want me?! I'm amazing and attractive!"

Kagami just stared at him incredulously. Did this guy really just say that? What a narcissist.

"Ever heard of modesty?"

"I am modest. I was just stating obvious facts," Kise shrugged as if there was nothing wrong with what he said.

"Modest people wouldn't call themselves modest," Kagami snorted.

All of a sudden, a loud growl was heard and Kagami turned to the source - Kise's stomach. Flushing a bright red, Kise hastily defended himself, "I haven't eaten breakfast!"

Kagami winced holding his ear, "You don't have to scream it in my ear! Jeez, I think I'm gonna go deaf if I hang out with you any longer."

"S-Sorry,"

It was a few seconds later when a second grumble was heard - this time, it was from Kagami's stomach.

"...Room service?"

"Yes please,"

An hour and a half later, two full teenagers lay sluggishly on the bed.

Kise could barely move a muscle. Normally he'd eat a regular amount of food for someone his age and size but with Kagami around, he seemed to consume more. Influence was rather scary. He turned to the side and saw that Kagami was in the process of dozing off. It wasn't really a good practice to snooze after consuming such a large amount of food but frankly, the two were too lazy to care about that right now.

It wasn't long before Kagami was completely knocked out not caring that Kise was still there.

The blond decided to watch another movie and clean up the mess they made on the tabletop. As he cleared away the wrappers on the bedside, he caught a glimpse of Kagami's dark eye bags. Kise stared at them for a minute before sighing sadly to himself.

As he'd suspected earlier, Kagami wasn't as tough as he was pretending to be. From someone who wore fake expressions often, Kise found it easy to tell when someone else was faking their emotions. From when Kagami was at the hospital, the blond had a feeling that Kagami was actually a little traumatized by the stabbing incident which - to be fair - was expected.

Kagami pretended everything was okay. When he was awake, he'd act like there was nothing bothering but when he slept, he'd have nightmares.

And Kise wouldn't have discovered this if he hadn't seen Kagami tossing and crying in the middle of the night at the hospital. Seeing his rival and friend in such a pitiful state worsened his feelings of guilt. That's why he pushed to take care of Kagami even if the redhead made it obvious he didn't want Kise there.

The second time Kise saw Kagami having a nightmare was the first time he visited Kagami in this hotel two days ago. That one was even more painful to watch and Kise ended up having to physically wake up the sleeping teen. Luckily, Kagami seemed to forget everything in the morning and Kise thought it would be best not to bring it up.

Letting out another long sigh, Kise left their dishes in the hallway and went back inside the room before climbing on the bed next to Kagami. He kicked off his shoes and snuggled under the covers before covering the other teen as well.

"Good night Kagamicchi," he whispered softly.

Turning his back to the redhead teen, Kise closed his eyes and drifted off into sleep.

EXTRA

"Just one game,"

"No way,"

"Come on, I really wanna play!"

"You're cute when you're desperate but it's still a no,"

"W-Who're you calling cute?!" shrieked a blushing Kagami.

Kise doubled over in laughter, "O-Oh my gosh, you're way too innocent. You're definitely a bottom."

"What the heck is a bottom?!" Kagami nearly shouted. He was so done with Kise's shit.

Kise suddenly paused in mid-laugh to look at Kagami with disbelief, "Seriously? You don't know what a bottom is Kagamicchi?"

"Of course I don't! Wait a minute - you're straying off the subject!"

Kise could only stare at the angry kitten partly with amusement and partly with shock. How the hell has no one realized it before? Just how innocent and cute Kagami was. Sure he was rough, sharp-tongued, and incredibly hotheaded but he was also incredibly pure-minded.

Wait no. That's not quite accurate.

It would be more precise to say that Kagami's mind has no room to think of things other than food and basketball. He is a basketball baka anyway but to think he'd be so innocent...And right now, with Kise's new thoughts on the redhead, Kagami's angry face only seemed like an angry kitten to him.

'Oh Kagamicchi...I need to protect that pure mind and heart of yours' thought Kise. 'Just be a basketball baka forever.'
