The station was going frantic, as they got word William was missing.

He was solving a case, that led him to go up north.

The last time they had heard from him was in the morning.

As Julia walked in with Susannah in her arms, saw the inspector yelling at the constables, "don't think of leaving this station until we hear from him"

"Inspector..Tom" as she approached him

"Doctor this isn't a good time"

"Is it true…is William missing?"

"Ah…"

"That answers that question."

"We haven't heard from him since this morning."

"That's 13 hours, inspector"

He takes a deep breath, "look, I'm sure nothing is wrong and once we hear from Murdoch, I'll notify you, immediately. Take the little one and go home"

Julia looks at him and walks to William's office, and sits down at his desk, "look, here Susannah. Color a picture for daddy," she said as she found a pieces of blank paper and crayons.

Inspector takes a deep breath, "Doctor…Julia this isn't a good idea"

"Thomas, we're not leaving here, until William comes through the door."

"Ok, well how about asking the nanny to come and get the little one…"

"Susannah has been asking for her daddy since this afternoon, inspector. She wouldn't let me leave the house unless she came with me"

Inspector noticed the time, "ok fine stay, but would you feel more comfortable in my office?"

Julia nodded as she took Susannah in her arms and walked into Thomas office.

"Want scotch or tea?" He asked

"Tea, thank you" she said as she sat on one of the chairs with Susannah in her lap

It was a few minutes later, as Thomas placed a cup of tea on the table for Julia, while she placed sleeping Susannah on the couch, "there, there, my love. Have a good sleep, when you wake up, daddy will be home" as she kissed her forehead.

"Here come, sit Julia. Here's your tea"

"Thanks Thomas" as she sips and gazes at Susannah and smiles

"I see a lot of Murdoch in her" Thomas says

"I do too."

"The forehead" they both said and smiled

"But also, when she concentrates on something, it's the same look, Murdoch gives off when he's looking at the blackboard."

She nods again, "I agree, Thomas"

"I don't know what would happen if something, happened to William. I wouldn't be just a widow, but a mother raising her child on her own."

She said as she placed a hand on her stomach

"Julia, how far along are you?"

"3 months. I just found out this morning"

"I'm guessing this wasn't planned?"

She giggles, "no and neither was she"

"Oh?"

"William and I struggled as you know. But when I found out I was expecting Susannah, I was shocked. Then a year ago, I was told the chances of me having another baby were low."

He looks at her, and places his hand on hers, "everything will be alright"

She loses herself and tears up, "but Tom, what if it isn't? What if we hear, William is dead. How do I tell, Susannah her daddy isn't coming home? Or how would I raise 2 children on my own. I can't do this on my own."

He gives her a hug, when the phone rang, as she gasp, and he took the phone call, "inspector Brackenreid…Murdoch, are you alright?" He asks and nods when he hears his answer

She begins tearing up happy tears, and a sign of relief.

"Are you on your way, home?" And nods when he gets his answer again, "ok, thanks Murdoch. Doctor Ogden is here, want to talk to her?"

He hands the phone to Julia, "Julia?"

"William, are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm fine. The carriage wheel broke, and the horse took off this morning. We finally found it after walking all day."

"Oh William, you had me scared. When will you be home?"

"I am sorry, I scared you darling, I'll be home by tomorrow morning. Give Susannah a kiss for me, and tell her daddy loves her and will see her when he gets home."

She giggled, "I will"

"I love you, Julia. More than you know"

"I love you, too, William" and hangs up the phone.

"See, I told you, Julia."

She nodded, "must be just these hormones, that got me overwhelmed."

Thomas giggled, "it's alright. Do you still want to stay here, or take Susannah home?"

"I'm going to take her home. Thanks for the tea Thomas"

"Anytime"

After she finishes her tea, she picks up, still sleeping Susannah and cradles her, as she is about to leave, when Thomas places his hands on her shoulders, "Julia, no matter what happens, just remember you will never be alone."

"Thank you, Thomas" and leaves for home

The End
