Murdoch's trip

It was late evening when William Murdoch returned home. The weariness of a long day's work was evident on his face, but there was a flame of determination smouldering in his eyes. As soon as he crossed the threshold, he asked Julia, who was sitting in the living room sunk in reading, with interest: "Julia, where is Susannah?"

Julia put down her book and replied with a warm smile: "She is sleeping peacefully in her cot."

William went to his daughter's room to see for himself that the little one was lying safely in her cot, wrapped up in sleep. Before leaving the room, he gently kissed her goodnight.

Returning to the living room, William smiled at Julia, though his gaze was serious. "I have to leave, Julia. A body was found this morning, and all indications are that the perpetrator may be linked to the theft of the map that shows the location of the lost Inca treasure."

Julia looked at William with a mixture of surprise and interest. "Lost Inca treasure? That sounds like something out of an adventure novel."

"It's more than an adventure, Julia. I believe this map may indeed lead to a great discovery. However, my priority is to unravel it and keep our city safe," William explained, grasping her hand in a gesture of support.

"I understand, but I'm worried about you. It must be dangerous," Julia expressed her concern, squeezing his hand.

"I'll do everything in my power to get back quickly and safely. I promise I'll be careful," William said, looking her straight in the eye to emphasise his determination.

Julia nodded, though her heart was full of concern. "Take care of yourself, William. We love you and will be waiting for you. "

With one last affectionate look exchanged, William went to pack.
