As he used his energy to fly above the atmosphere, the dark fox pondered about a dark and

devious plan. "What better way to destroy hope, than to build it up to the highest peak, then

smash it all down in a pile of ash!" he said, pounding his fist into his hand for emphasis. He

then looked at the planet Earth, then circled around to find Zootopia, then centered back to

Mobius. He then flipped out an ancient scroll. "Better make sure the hedgehog sees this." he

said as he put the scroll in a thin, fireproof and bulletproof tube. "The ancient prophecy. Written

4,000 years ago by the famous writer Exclies of the Hyluind Deserts is finally going to come

true." He sneered as he looked at the Earth. "And it will all be thanks to me!"

LITO: Infinity Rising

Chapter Two: The Start of War

"Nice job there Tails." Sonic spoke to his twin-tailed fox friend. The duo were on a planet called

Roth, a desert planet home to anthropomorphic desert animals such as scorpions, snakes,

hawks, foxes and even a phoenix. The mission this time was an all-out war. No diplomacy this

time. He and Tails had to help the armies of the Golden Phoenix, known as the Rebellion

against

the forces of those who remained loyal to the dark king of Raganoth, the Dark Phoenix; the

Golden Phoenix. It was a tough war, as many on both sides fell, but the Golden Phoenix's army

won when he kept the Dark Phoenix occupied so that Sonic could destroy the

Rebellion without the Dark Phoenix being there to help regenerate his troops. In the end, the

Loyalist army wiped out the Rebellion and the Golden Phoenix easily destroyed the

Dark Phoenix. "Hey, let's not forget about who deserves all the glory here." Tails

reminded him as he pointed towards the majestic Golden Phoenix who sat next to them, smiling,

content that his kingdom was restored and that all the Rebellion that remained after the battle

chose to pledge themselves to the true king of the kingdom. "It's nothing Sonic and Tails. Thank

you for restoring my kingdom to its perfection." Golden spoke gratefully and eloquently as the

two heroes respectfully knelt in reverence before heading into their spaceship, the X-Hurricane,

which was somewhat like a regular fighter-jet, but bigger and more equipped for space travel.

Where turrettes were normally used for bullets on land, their tourettes shot lasers. As was

everything else on the jet, it was all equipped for outer-space travel. As Tails piloted the ship at

an adequate speed leaving Roth, he had something on his mind he was meaning to tell

his speedy blue hedgehog friend. "Hey Sonic, did that planet remind you of anything?" Sonic

came out of the ship's bedroom to answer his comrade's question. "What do you mean Tails?"

Tails stifled a chuckle. "Come on Sonic, you haven't forgotten your little trip already, have you?"

Sonic smiled gratefully, "How could I ever forget?" he said with a sigh.

It had been exactly a year since

Sonic was transported to Zootopia on a vacation of personal matters. He had lost his sense and

purpose as a hero before arriving at the urban jungle and made several new friends. His

best friend there was Gazelle, a pop singer who was also a philanthropist and a

model friend for the blue blur. She lived in a region of Zootopia similar to the planet he and Tails

just saved called Sahara Square. Where Roth was more of an ancient desert town,

Sahara Square was more of a modern-era Middle Eastern metropolis. Sonic remembered how

Gazelle helped him find his purpose, betrayed him, but humbly and genuinely repented later.

He forgave her and stored the memories and events of their relationship deep in his heart. "I

know you're still thinking about her Sonic." Tails noted. Although Sonic and Gazelle still kept in

touch often on Tweeter: Interdimensional, there was no denying that he missed their friendship

and ached for real, quality time with her again. Even though he sometimes tried to deny it, to

no avail. "Look Tails, it's not like I don't want to go to Zootopia again. I had fun. But now I need

to get back in the game." Sonic tried (and failed miserably) to reassure Tails. The fox wasn't

buying it. "Sonic; the universe has had its longest period of peace in its history and you start

trying to look for trouble that isn't even there. When are you gonna relax?" Just at that moment,

sirens were blaring and the blaring red emergency lights were going off in the plane. "You were

saying, Tails?" Sonic quickly replied to his friend's question as he flipped on the computer to see

an

S.O.S. coming from Mobius. "On screen." Sonic demanded the computer as Tails was making

his own research about something on his tablet. Amy Rose, a close friend of Sonic's appeared

on the screen and she looked nervous and agitated as she was attempting to reach her friend.

"Whoa Amy, calm down." he said, attempting to calm down her pink hedgehog friend, "What's

going on?" Amy took a deep breath in an attempt to calm down, but the abnormal amount of

energy she possessed made it difficult. Amy had always been one of the high-octane and

energetic members especially after maturing as well, but this time, her energy wasn't light and

bubbly, but rather anxious and worried. "Sonic, there have been news reports going on about

many planets just disappearing into thin air." Sonic laughed it off. "Right, next thing you'll tell me

there's a genie in a magic book hidden in an intergalactic amusement park." Sonic said jokingly.

"Sonic, she really isn't kidding." Tails called to him as he looked up from his computer towards

Sonic with a serious look on his face. "Look." he called out. Sonic turned and then went to his

friend to see what was bugging him. Sure enough, Amy and Tails were right. As Sonic looked at

the footage, he saw a slideshow of at least 40 different planets looking like they were just

combusting. Every atom falling apart. But after the planets fell apart, Sonic noticed something.

"Wait, go back." he told Tails, who rewound the laptop. "Ok stop." he said, as Tails stopped it

towards the part he was wanting to observe. What he saw was a silhouette. But no ordinary

silhouette. Most shadows are revealed by light and they show the dark shadow of a figure; but in

this picture, there was darkness showing a bright golden yellow shadow of a tall and muscular

fox, who looked somewhat more like Sonic but with longer quills and two sharp claws but no

hands. "Huh, I wonder what that could…" Sonic's question was interrupted by both the main

computer and Tails's computer being hacked, because they were on the same network.

Everything on both computers went black, until finally, the golden fox appeared on both

computers, grimacing evilly. "So, you're the legendary Sonic the Hedgehog." he spoke. "Awe,"

Sonic said, pretending to gush at Tails. "The recording thinks I'm legendary." the recording

snapped at Sonic. "First off, I am not a recording! Second, yes, you are the legendary Sonic

the Hedgehog who will be challenging me for complete control of Mobius!" "And what makes

you so sure about that?" Sonic asked with sincere cockiness. The computer then zoomed out to

reveal several large Death Egg robots hidden all over the planet of Mobius as well as several

drones, tanks, drills, a roboticized orca and several winged Mobians who looked like they were

possessed with some kind of dark energy. Sonic went from cocky to shocked to ticked. How

could one fox possibly do all of this damage? Especially killing way more than Dr. Eggman did

when he first arrived. "Sonic, I'm not going to kill any more citizens because I have had my fill of

those. I want a real challenge. The battle royale. Sonic the Hedgehog vs. Dark Foxen. You have

an hour to evacuate as much citizens as you can. During that time, I will not attack you or

anyone else, but after that time. It's open season Sonic. And you know what happens during

open season? Everything's fair game!" the villain chuckled evilly. As a timer suddenly appeared

on the computers, Sonic already had a plan as to how to evacuate the Mobians while he fought

this new enemy. "Tails, get your portal set up and take every Mobian to Zootopia. They'll be safe

there." A look of worry and concern had now appeared on Tails's face. "What about you Sonic?"

he asked nervously. "I'll be able to hold the freaky fox guy off long enough for everyone to

escape." with a combination of intense seriousness of the situation, anger towards this fox for

his dark capabilities of putting his home planet in such an apocalyptic state and confidence in

the fact that this fox was going to go down hard or go down dead. "Sonic, I know you want to

save our world, but think about what your body's been through! You've been saving worlds

nonstop this past week! Who knows what's gonna happen?!" Sonic simply smirked at Tails

with a confident grin. "And when has that ever stopped Sonic the Hedgehog?!" he asked

rhetorically to his friend, whose worries were not any more appeased as Sonic piloted the ship

to Mobius. "Have Amy,

Knuckles, Shadow and whatever friends we have leading everyone out of here." he commanded

in a take-charge tone. "Time's ticking, so let's tick faster!" Sonic said confidently as he hopped

out of the ship while starting to spin-dash towards his planet. The planet that ached and thirsted

for a hero the most. Tails noticed that all computer systems were back to normal aside from the

clock being the cover screen so he activated the portal construction from there. "I hope Sonic

knows what he's doing." he wondered out loud with serious concern. Tails was right about

Sonic. He was always willing to be the hero for those who sought out his aid and those who had

no one else to defend them. But this time, it was His World that cried out to him, and he couldn't

help but wondering if he could take the strain his body and his mind were placing upon

themselves, as the battle for the ages - The Battle for Mobius - began.
