Love In The Open: Infinity Rising

Chapter 10: The Quest of Infinity

"You will hear him anguish in pain, in agony, in weakness; and then, just when you think you've

heard the last of it, he'll scream." he said, trying to slice at her confidence in her hero internally.

"And you won't be able to hear it. Not because he can't, but because he won't. Want to, that is."

Gazelle's anger has subsided somewhat; and so had Sonic's fear. But both of them decided just

to search for answers instead of just rushing into the situation. It was a move that was

characteristic of Gazelle; but not that of Sonic, who preferred a confident, no risk-it no biscuit,

gotta go fast type approach to things. But after witnessing the damage that Infinite could do

simply to a planet like Mobius, as it seemed like meer child's play to the villain, he could only

imagine what he could do to other planets in the whole universe; and if Infinite was truly what he

claimed to be and not all bark and no bite, then there's no telling what could become of the

universe. Although he was no longer frightened to the point of being paralyzed by fear, the very

thought of Infinite (and his predictions of his friends in particular) still left a major impact on his

mind, heart and soul.

Infinite, really wanting to move things along, resumed his dialogue. "And before you can ask,

Gazelle, the reason he won't want to come to you with his inevitably breaking heart (like other

things on this quest) is for me to know, and you to find out. But consider this, Sonic," he

said, levitating while doing so, "I'd watch everyone if I were you this week." He then smiled evilly

and said, "Everyone…" After this, he disappeared like a magician throwing a smoke bomb to

divert the audience from what they were actually supposed to be seeing, and in his place was

a scroll encased in a dark purple casing.

When Infinite was gone, everyone else came too. Although all of Sonic's friends (like himself)

were in the same paralyzed-ish state as he was during Infinite's speech, their minds were still

active so they fully processed everything that happened during Infinite's dialogue. Everything

from how dark and persuasive his tone of voice bellowed across the room, to how the very

atmosphere they were in seemed to vibrate during the whole ordeal. Either way, everyone knew

that if they didn't do something quick; time would run out. And reality, as we know it, will be

changed…

Permanently…

After a short while, Blaze finally opened the scroll out of its casing and read it out loud, for the

writing of the scroll was in a dialect only she could understand. The scroll's contents were

translated, "There are six more scrolls like this to complete the Seven. Check all the locations

I have provided for you by week's end, or else the universe will be wiped away and started

anew… in My image." "Well that's no good." Knuckles stated, as he looked towards everyone

else, gleaning for their opinions. "I wonder what secrets he's wanting us to look for in these

Scrolls?" Silver asked. "Whatever it is, he's probably not bluffing about the consequence if we

don't solve his riddles." Espio said seriously. Shadow then spoke up. "I think it'll be wise to

send half of us to whatever locations Infinite's sending us to; while the rest of prepare this

planet for war." Chief Bogo then cleared his throat and then interjected, "Hang on a minute,

we don't know whether he would invade or not; plus we've just came off of a month of where

our world's dealt with otherworldly forces. We shouldn't just drag Zootopia into this mess."

"We might get dragged whether we like it or not, so I say prepare for the worst and hope for

the best." Judy spoke out. Everyone in that hospital room started arguing about different

topics. From whether or not to engage Infinite, to how supernaturally immense he would be if

he did attack and how exactly they would bring Zootopia into the fray should it be forced to. All

this arguing kept going on and on as Sonic and Gazelle were hopelessly caught in the middle

of it. Sonic knew that he needed to say something to silence the crowd, so he got off the bed

and was about to silence everyone in the crowd; but Gazelle beat him to it. "I know that we all

agree that Zootopia must be defended; but we should really take time to listen to what

everyone else is trying to say rather than be caught up in all of the confusion." She was trying

to open a doorway for Sonic to offer his plan and ideas, and he was going to, but he was once

again beaten to by Shadow. "Gazelle's right. We need to act in unity if we have a chance of

stopping Infinite." He then motioned to everyone else, "Rouge, Omega, Silver, Vector, Tails,

Espio; you'll stay here with me in Zootopia in case Infinite attacks while the rest of you find out

whatever game Infinite's trying to play with us and put a stop to it." Then he motioned towards

Commissioner Bogo, "You best mobilize your troops now before it's too late." Bogo looked

red-hot and ticked at the black-and-red hedgehog that was trying to steal his thunder. "And

why should I be taking orders from someone who doesn't know their way around here that

well?" Shadow then pulled open the blinds to reveal that some of Infinite's minions were

already flying around the place and wreaking havoc on City Central. "Oh." Bogo said, as his

countenance turned more into an awkward, embarrassed state; as if he was the kid who thought

the one crazy classroom kid was wrong, only to have their own belief nullified in front of the

whole class.

Shadow then looked to everyone around him.

"Alright everyone, I know I'm not a

team player; but right now we're the only thing standing between us and an Infinitely certain

Invasion." he said, as a commander rallying his troops. Sonic wasn't shocked to see Shadow

stepping up and executing a plan because he knew that Shadow had the knowledge, power and

foresight to be a great leader if need be (despite him usually being the lone wolf of a group). "If

you want to live in fear, that's fine." he said, looking directly at Bogo, who let out a grunt in

response. "But as for me, I know we'll win; if we stay committed to the cause at hand." He then

put his arm out and said, "For Zootopia!" All of the other mobians also put their hands together

with Shadow's, then raised them and shouted, "For Zootopia!" Chief Bogo walked defeatedly

towards Shadow. "As much as it pains me to say it, it looks like your plan is the best option we

have. The only thing is don't drag any Zootopians into your ragtag resistance; we can't risk any

of our own lives for this." Shadow stared at him fiercely, "by Zootopian, you mean us. All of us."

He then turned towards everyone. "When Infinite destroyed Mobius, our whole livelihood was

destroyed. There's no way for us to earn your respect; but like it or not, we're in this too. So no, I

can't 'spare' any Zootopians; because as of now, the people of Mobius are Zootopian…" "And

the people of Zootopia are Mobian!" Gazelle interrupted, gaining everyone's attention. She

looked pleadingly towards Chief Bogo. "I know that sending out any Zootopians towards this

cause is something that no Commissioner, or leader, would want to face the possibility of doing.

But if you're going to do this, you're going to have to do it together. These Mobians are without a

home, a home I'm sure they'll all be willing to fight for; but one way or another, they'll need

Zootopia's aid. They'll need their city to help them survive." After Gazelle's speech, Shadow

took back the floor. "Whatever comes and joins my 'ragtag resistance' as you so put it, will be

left in my care; but whatever happens to anyone in Zootopia you defend, will be on your

hooves." Shadow said, extending his hand for Commissioner Bogo to shake. He huffed

annoyingly and let Shadow shake his hoof in agreement. "Alright everyone, we've got no time to

lose. Everyone, get to your destinations and move out!" everyone (except Bogo, Sonic and

Gazelle) cheered in approval.

And so began the quest… the Quest for Infinity!

Hey everyone, I know that this story has been way past due for an update and I sincerely

apologize for not giving it the amount of attention it deserves, but I am staying committed to one

story at a time from now on. So, I got some exciting news. Now, brace yourselves for this…

*drumroll*

My first ever Fanfiction, the original from where this sequel had spawned, has officially reached

a way better than expected 10,426 Views! :-D :-D That's right, 10K Magic, Baby! :-D

As well as 18 Reviews, 22 Favorites and 19 Followers! I thought I'd release the new chapter as

a way to celebrate and say thank you to everyone who has followed and supported me all this

way so far. Shoutout to everyone who made 10K possible! :-D REALLY stoked about this!

So anyway, next time on Love In The Open: Infinity Rising, we're doing a Flipside Chapter. If

any of you don't know what that is, it's where we do two separate chapters of events that

happened around the same time. (for those of you who watched the Sonic Boom TV Series, the

episodes "Planes, Trains and Dudemobiles" and "Sticks and Amy's Excellent Staycation" are

excellent examples of what a Flipside chapter is. Two different chapters that are, timeline wise,

happening at the same time even though they are different events in different places.)

As for when you're expecting my other works, Determination of the Strong is up next for being

updated, then this story, then Don't Fiddle With It, then this story, then Determination of the Strong ,

then this one.

Until then, as always, Keep Loving, Keep Edifying, Keep LoveandEdifying! :-D :-D :-D

Time to make like a singer and Sia (See ya!) ;-)
