Hanging On The Edge-Ch 21
Over the next few weeks Derek and Penelope had made all of the arrangements for their upcoming wedding, JJ and Em would of course be her bridesmaids while Derek had asked Reid and Hotch to be his best men and Dave of course had happily agreed to give the bride away at the ceremony because he'd always considered Penelope to be his daughter from the minute that he'd met her. While the preparations were being made Dave and Fran had gotten considerably closer, they were always together when the team was in town, where you saw one you would see the other.
The unsub wasn't slowing down either, he was still averagine at least 2 to 3 accidents a week and the team was still no closer in finding him than they were before and one night while they were all gathered together for a family dinner at Frans Reid came up with a plan and was getting ready to share it with the others. He looked around the room and said, "I think I have a plan that might bring our unsub out into the open where we can catch him", the team looked at each other and then at him and Dave said, "well son, don't keep us in suspense, tell us what your plan is".
Reid said, "well his type is Penelope, right?", Dave said, "yes, right, soooo?", Reid said, "what we need to do is make him mad so that he will come out", Derek said, "waitttttttt a minute Reid, you mean come out as in come after her, noooooo, I won't let you put my girl in danger, sorry but no, no, no", it was then that Penelope had put her hand on top of his. He looked at her as she said, "let's hear him out", Derek blew out a deep breath and said, "alright, go ahead", Reid said, "we could post the wedding announcement in the paper letting him know that his love is getting married", Hotch said, "that actually might work but we need to add more".
Emily said, "more as innnnnnn?", Hotch said, "we need to get Garcia out in public a day or so after the announcement is posted in the paper, that was he can see her and would be more apt to maybe mess up", Derek said, "again, this puts her in danger", JJ said, "we love her oo and we wouldn't put her in danger unnecessarily Derek", he looked at Penelope who was nodding her head yes. Penelope said, "sooooo, we post our wedding announcement in the paper tomorrow and then wait a day or so to give him time to see it and to get mad that I'm getting married before we spring the trap and get me out into the open so that he can see me and possibly made a move to cause me another accident, right?", Reid nodded his head and said, "right, but this time things are gonna be a little different", Derek said, "different as in how Reid?", the younger agent leaned in and said, "this is what we're gonna do".
A few minutes later Derek smiled and said ,"that's a great idea and it might actually work", Fran said, "of course it will work and the sooner you guys catch this sicko the sooner we can get the two of you married", Penelope said, "thank you all so much for going out of your way to help me with this", JJ and Emily hugged her as JJ said, "what's this crap, who's going out of their way to help you, not us, we're family Gracie and family alwayssssss helps family". Sarah and Desi smiled and said in unison, "definitely" causing Penelope to grin and nod her head yes in agreement with the rest of her family.
Over the next couple of hours the team had settled in to watch a movie together and of course with two little boys under the age of 7 the movie had to be picked by them and the two boys agreed on Nemo of course because it was without a doubt their favorite move in the entire world and they loved it even more because this time they would be watching it with their aunt P". Derek sat on one side of her with Clooney between then and Jack and Henry were on the other side cuddled into her side, as she looked around the room she was truly blessed to have such an amazing and loving family that would always have her back.
The next morning the announcement was in the paper, a beautiful page long announcement about Derek Michael Morgan and Penelope Grace Gracia getting married, their picture was beautiful, they were standing with her back against his chest and he had his arms wrapped protectively around her waist and both faces had huge huge smiles plastered on them. The announcement didn't give a day or time but in the announcement everybody was told that information would be announced at a later time and Reid was right when he said that the unsub would be mad, he was more than mad, he was furious, he had to get his girl away from that barbarian before she married him, Penelope belonged with him, not with this Derek person and he knew that the next time he saw her he would have to make his move, he would have to swoop in and take her away before it was too late.
Plans had been made for Derek and Penelope to be out on the town supposedly taking care of wedding preparations and when the unsub saw how beautiful she looked in the body hugging dress he decided that now was the time, today was going to be when he got rid of this Derek Morgan and finally made Penelope Grace Garcia his. He watched as they climbed into a car and pulled away from the curb, he then fell in line a few cars back behind them so that they wouldn't get suspicious and continued following them until they had made a right turn and started down the road along the cliffs.
He waited until they were in a straight stretch of road and then he went up and hit the bumper of the car, he backed off and then hit it again and again trying to get it to spin around and clop onto his side but his plan wasn't working, the car wasn't flipping over like all of the others had in the past, he banged his hand against the steering wheel and said, "you must die Derek Morgan, I won't let you take my girl away from me, not now, not ever". He hit the car with more force this time and sure enough the car started going from one side of the road to the other and then flipped onto his side.
The unsub watched as the car that was now smoking came to a stop not far from the end of the road, he said, "I'll get Penelope out of the car and then push it over the cliff, that way my Derek Morgan problem will be over and Penelope will be mine forever", he put his car in park and ran toward the passengers side of the car to retrieve his lady love. When he opened the door he smiled and said, "now, now you're mine Penelope", he then reached down to unsnap the seatbelt, that's when he felt something connect with his cheek, he looked to see Derke looking at him and he said, "don't touch my fiancee, get your hands off of her nowwwwww", the unsub laughed and said, "what can you do Derek, you're stuck?", Derek said, "me, ohhhh I can do more to you than you think but right now it's not me that you have to worry about".
The unsub looked at him and said, "what do you mean?", Derek pointed behind him and said, "they are who you have to worry about", when he turned he saw Dave, Hotch and the others standing behind him he then heard Reid said, "you are under arrest, you have the right to remain silent", Derek smiled as he started releasing his baby girls seatbelt, the planned had worked, Reid's plan had worked, the unsub was caught and his baby girl was finally safe.
