After making sure her mother-in-law was safely inside her brownstone, Honor started her SUV. As she slid the transmission into DRIVE, her thoughts drifted to the information she learned during her lunch outing. Rory Gilmore was engaged - to some guy. My importantly, she was engaged to someone other than Logan. Honor slid her vehicle back into park and grabbed her iPhone. She Googled Rory's name and quickly located her engagement announcement. In the photograph, Rory stood next to a very generic-looking guy who could have been the silent little brother in an ad campaign for car insurance. Her main question at this point was, 'What does this guy have that Logan doesn't have? Why Stewart Anderson? Why now? And why not Logan?'

As she finally drove away, Honor decided to do some low-key digging into Rory's life. She needed to know the answers to these questions, even if she never told anyone other than Josh the information she learned. There was a time when Honor was sure that Rory would become her sister. Instead, she never saw her again - and it hurt so much! Logan had not been the same since. At first, he didn't say much - but when she pressed him about it, all he said was, "No, Honor. She didn't say yes. We broke up instead. Its over." Logan moved to California the same week and things just changed after that. He was Logan, but a more distant, watered-down version of his personality. They still talked, but not about anything with substance. It was all surface-level information and the kind of conversations you would have with a driver or a doorman, not the kind of sibling conversations they were used to.

Honor did not intend to meddle, she just wanted to know why Rory decided on this guy and why now. She had no intention on meddling, or even speaking to any of them. She knew that Logan would be mortified and furious if he ever knew she wanted this kind of info, so she had to make sure he never knew.

Speaking of Logan, she decided to check in with him. She called him via Bluetooth in her car. It rang twice before he answered, "Honor! How are ya?" he asked in a jovial tone.

Honor smiled at the sound of his voice, "I'm pretty good. Why do you sound so happy?"

"I'm just having a good day. I finally bought a place to live!" Logan said with glee.

Honor grinned at the open road in front of her. "I'm so glad for you. Tell me about it."

"Its a cool, 3 story apartment in that steel building down the street from the New York offices that I've always admired. It came on the market, my realtor knew I was looking and I grabbed it. It has 4 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths, and a whole bunch of other stuff I don't need. Its all glass and steel. Its so modern - you're going to hate it," he said with a laugh. "You can see from one room all the way to the other side, even the interior walls are clear glass."

"Logan, what about the bathrooms? How are you going to change or have guests?" she giggled because this was very much like Logan. He always looked very hard for a home that was the opposite of the dungeon where they grew up. He did this since they were kids - he always avoided places that were too dark or had too much wood and not enough light.

Logan laughed again, "Relax, Honor, I live alone. None of that matters. And even still, there is this cool technique for the bathrooms - when you lock the door, the walls change from clear to frosted. It seems weird but its cool."

"This is definitely interesting - it sounds like an office building. Or an aquarium. I can't wait to see it!" she said.

"Well," he replied, "I can't wait to show it to you. I should have the keys in 2 weeks, then we need to figure out furniture and stuff. After all of that is done, I should be living there soon after."

"Logan, that's great. I'm glad for you. You really deserve a place all your own."

"Thank you! I appreciate that. So, what's up anyway?" he asked.

"Oh, not much. I just hadn't spoken to you in a little while and I wanted to check in. Are you coming to Hartford any time soon?" she asked. "I would love to have dinner."

"I probably can arrange that," he said.

"Great, little brother! It will be great to see you," she said.

"And I thought you were calling to see if I saw the engagement announcement," Logan said quietly.

Damn. "Um, well, no. That's not why I called. But, now that I know you've seen it, are you okay?" she asked.

Logan sighed loudly and slowly. "I guess so. I don't have much of a choice. I just hope she's happy."

Honor decided to fess up a little, "I ran into Emily Gilmore today. She was having lunch with the fiancé's mother."

Logan laughed darkly, "Well, I'm sure that's right up her alley. You know, that's why the guys in a wedding all dress alike? Because we are all interchangeable!"

Honor saw where this was going, "No... no, let's not do this."

"Do what?" he asked. "Emily was always excited for Rory to get married, she must love this. She couldn't wait for Rory to have a family and kids."

Honor sighed quietly, "Well, I guess she's getting her wish. I guess." She shifted her car into park in front of her own house. "Logan, I really am sorry..."

Logan interrupted her, "Really, its fine. Its been 4 years since we broke up. She made her choice and is living her life. I really do wish her the best."

Honor grimaced as she heard the pain in his voice that only a sister could recognize, "I'm glad you're okay with it. Let's really have that dinner soon, okay?"

"Okay, say hi to Josh for me. I love you!"

"I love you too, Logan," she said as she disconnected the call and lay her head on her steering wheel. That was NOT the call she planned to have.
