Flying towards the higher power level, Raditz cursed under his breath, the previous fight having done nothing to sate his growing frustration with his brother, in fact if anything, it had made him madder, "Have you forgotten your pride Kakarot!? We are Saiyans! The mightiest warriors in the universe! Why have you not carried out your mission!? You are a discredit to your race Kakarot. But when I find you, I'll teach you what it means to be a Saiyan."

Give or take approximately twelve thousand miles away, Son Goku was happily introducing his son to Bulma, Master Roshi, Krillin, and Turtle. It had been five years since he had seen his old friends and so much had changed while somehow remaining the same. Everyone had been so impressed with his child, thanks in no small part to the intensive manners Chi Chi's had strictly enforced in their household. It was great getting to see everyone and catching up, just like old times minus the whole 'red ribbon army taking over the world' thing.

The conversation flowed well between the old companions, reminiscing on the adventures from their younger years. There was a strange moment when Goku's friends asked oddly pointed questions about Gohan's sleeping arrangements after noticing his tail, specifically in regard to the moon but at this point Goku accepted his friend's eccentricities and didn't bother questioning it. Continuing on the conversation, Goku somewhat agreed with Krillin's complains about Chi Chi never letting Gohan train, it would have been so amazing to have him as his successor, but Chi Chi had put her foot down and staunchly refused; something about 'stable income' and 'limiting injuries' and 'for the love of Kami, please give our child a chance to develop as his own person, he's so smart it would be a true crime not to see where this goes'. In all fairness, Goku did occasionally sneak in the odd training session with Gohan behind Chi Chi's back, but Gohan just really didn't have the motivation to hit back.

"What's with the rock on his hat?" asked Bulma, as Gohan ran back to the group, having successfully bested a crab in rock paper scissors, and gotten foamed in his face as a result.

"Oh that's the 4-star dragon ball," Answered Goku, "It took me a while to find it but I wanted Gohan to have it since it used to belong to my grandfather… Wait, why isn't it a dragon ball?"

Leaning over, Goku examined the circular gray rock on Gohan's hat, "Huh, that's strange. I also have the three-star ball and the six-star ball at home since I was collecting them for fun. Maybe we should call Chi Chi and see if they're normal? I'm sure that it was fine when we left."

"Sure, my phone's in the house." Offered Roshi, "But sometimes it doesn't work so well with all the salt from the sea. Messes with the connection you know. Why I haven't gotten cable, actually."

"Do you think that means that Kami's…" began Krillin, looking worried.

Suddenly, Goku's head shot up and he looked intensely towards the east, "Something's coming, something strong! It's heading straight for us!"

"What? Are you sure, Goku?" asked Bulma, looking in the direction Goku was staring. She certainly didn't see anything.

"I'm positive. It's super powerful! But what could possibly…?"

"Yeah," Added Krillin, "I feel it now too! Do you think it's Piccolo?"

"There!" Roshi pointed as a figure appeared in the distance, rapidly approaching, "Ooh, I don't like this…"

Landing, Raditz crossed his arms and glared at Earthlings. His scouter displayed all the power levels of the five beings at the beach; he was not impressed. Bulma grabbed Gohan and pulled the frightened child close as the men dropped into a fighting stance.

"So, we meet again at last!" Raditz offered as a greeting, "You've grown but I recognize you though, Kakarot! You look just like father."

"Kakarot?" Questioned the man in the orange Gi, looking confused.

"That's right, that's your name." Raditz started to get a bad feeling about this… "What's with the condition of this planet!? Your duty was to exterminate this species! What game have you been playing at!?"

"Huh!?" Kakarot looked alarmed and confused. Great.

"What's he talking about?" Asked the blue haired woman, "And who is he?"

"He must be nuts…" concluded the short bald -headed man, leaving his fighting stance, and putting his hands on his hips. Addressing Raditz he said, "Listen miser, I don't know who you are or where you're from, but you've obviously got the wrong guy." Walking forward the short man made a dismissive gesture with his hands, "Shoo! This is a private gathering, and you were not invited. You must have hit the bottle a bit too hard and are not welcome. Scram!"

"Krillin, WATCH OUT" Shouted Kakarot, apparently being more in-tune with his survival instincts that Raditz initially gave him credit for.

The one called Krillin, meanwhile, approached Raditz probably to make do on his enforce his 'suggestion' about getting the other man off the island, and was promptly smacked his tail for his efforts. For those unaware, a smack by a Saiyan tail is considered a major insult in their culture. It's a combination of: 'you are so lowly I couldn't be bothered to use my hands.' combined with 'I'm exposing part of my body that could be used as a major weakness in battle but as you are so pathetic you don't have the skills to do anything about such a weakness' and 'the weakest part of my body is stronger than you'. Krillin did not know or care about this insult in so much as he was aware that he was knocked into the siding of his old master's house; damaging not only a large potion of a weigh bearing wall, but also quite a few of his bones and maybe an internal organ or two in the process. Being insulted on top of such an injury, while not particularly surprising to the no-long-young monk, would not make much of a difference in his reaction given the amount of pain he was suddenly experiencing.

Goku, at the same time, was rather alarmed by the realization that the stranger had a tail. As was Bluma and Master Roshi. Krillin, once again, did not care as all he wanted some medical attention as soon as possible.

"You! You've got a tail! Just like I used to have…!" Kakarot stared in shock at Raditz.

"That's good, I wondered how long it would take for you to recognize me… Wait, what do you mean USED TO!?" Raditz stared at his brother, truly stared at him and for the first time noticed the complete lack of tail. He had heard rumors that it was possible to re-grow a tail (although he had no idea on where to even begin on the 'how' of that) but to imagine one of his family members did something so stupid to have lost it in the first place… Raditz desperately hoped that Vegeta and Nappa hadn't cared enough to be paying attention to his scouter and picked up that little tidbit.

"My tail? It got cut off a long time ago. Why?"

Raditz felt the vein on his forehead throb, through clenched teeth he responded: "Do you have any idea what you've done? Your true power is gone now. Without your tail you've lost your power to transform at the full moon! But even without being able to transform you still should have had the power to wipe out the majority of this planet of weaklings! What happened to you!? Did you hit your head or something!?"

"I don't remember very well but yeah! I did hit my head when I was a child, I still have a scar where it happened. But what transformation? And does that have to do with my tail and the full moon? I'm confused…"

Raditz was temporarily left speechless, but only temporarily. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I was being sarcastic! You actually hit your head and forgot not only your mission, but who you were and where you came from as well!? Kakarot, you idiot!"

"I don't know who this Kakarot person is you're looking for but I'm not him. My name's Goku!" Kakarot tried again, looking less certain of that fact then he did a few minutes ago.

"No, it isn't. You forgot everything... I can't believe this." Yup, this day was terrible and Raditz could feel his headache growing. He was not looking forward to explaining this to the other Saiyans; they would never let him live this one down.

"I forgot what!? Tell me!" Kakarot now seemed very interested in what Raditz was saying, well that was good at least. Maybe he'd be able to fix him?

The old man suddenly spoke up "Goku, there's something… there's something your grandfather once told me that you should know: Long ago your grandpa Gohan was walking through the woods when he came upon a crater that had been recently made in the ground. When he went to examine it more closely, he found what appeared to be some sort of spaceship. And next to it, there you were, lying in a little round pod. Gohan tried to take care of you, but you were wild. Downright uncontrollable and unusually powerful for a baby. You wanted nothing to do with Gohan's kindness. The one day there was a terrible accident, you fell into a deep ravine and badly injured your head. Your grandfather feared that he had lost you but somehow, miraculously, you survived. Yes, any other child would have died but you recovered. And from that day on you became a happy loving boy."

"I'm from outer space!? Why didn't you ever tell me!?"

"Yes." Confirmed the old man, "It never seemed like the right time."

"Well, that would explain a lot." Said the woman, "Does this guy and Goku have some sort of connection?"

"I wish I knew." Offered the man, "I wish I knew."

"Okay, we're not done talking about this but right now we have bigger things going on." Kakarot frowned at the old man who had apparently lied to him his entire life before focusing back on Raditz, "You've got my attention. Now tell us who you are! And what do you want!?"

"Well, I wasn't expecting to give a history lesson when I came here today but alright, I'll tell you everything. If there are any traces of memories in there, I will find a way to reveal them." Raditz smirked a little bit, now they were finally making progress!

With a loud groan, the short man climbed out the wall he had been knocked into. Raditz hated to admit it but the guy was resilient. Considering how the other man had died thanks to a tiny piece of metal flicked at him, Raditz had figured the man a goner.

"Hey Krillin, you okay?" Goku asked.

"Yeah, I don't know how but yeah. Be careful Goku. This guy is freakishly strong."

Nodding, Goku assured his friend, "Believe me I know. I could sense that from the minute he landed, even now standing here talking to him like this, something about him turns my stomach. That's never happened before."

Okay rude, Raditz was standing right there! He glared at his brother, "Such harsh words. Careful, after all you and I are the same! You were born on the planet Vegeta; you are a space fighter: a Saiyan warrior, the mightiest warrior race in the universe! Just. Like. Me. On that note, allow me to introduce myself: my name is Raditz and I am your older brother!"

Promptly, everyone who was not Raditz began to panic.

"Goku has a… brother!?" Bulma squeaked out.

"Why should I believe you!?" Kakarot angrily shouted at Raditz, "Stop talking nonsense!"

"Yeah, that's right! What the heck is Goku doing on earth if he's from outer space!?" Krillin added, eyes darting around looking for any excuse to refute the statement.

"The answer is simple," Raditz laughed, "we sent him here. Kakarot was given specific orders to exterminate the planet of its current inhabitants. A mission which he has clearly failed miserably."

Kakarot stared blankly at him. Raditz sighed internally as he tried to come up with the simplest way to explain the situation to his apparently brain-damaged brother. "You see we Saiyans are sort of like planet brokers. We scour space for planets that will bring a high price to the galactic market. Once we find a good planet, we send our warriors there to clear them of their native inhabitants and make it… ready for a sale. It's a very, very profitable business! When a Saiyan is fully grown, they are assigned to the most difficult planets with the most powerful natives. But before they do that, we Saiyans have years of practice. As babies, we are sent to depopulate weaker planet, such as this one."

"I what you say is true, you Saiyans are monsters!" Snarled Krillin, "You're just space pirates, that's all you are!"

"How can you send little babies off into space all alone!?" Cried Bulma hugging Gohan, he was no longer an infant, but she couldn't imagine ditching something so tiny and helpless in the wilderness much less on another planet.

"Believe me, they're more than capable of looking after themselves. Well, most of them anyway, Kakarot you're a disgrace." Raditz frowned at his brother, "You could have easily wiped out every living thing on this planet by yourself if you hadn't forgotten your orders! Considering this planet has a nice big moon, it should have only taken you a year or two!"

The three other adults on the island meanwhile had twitched horribly at the mention of the full moon. 'Interesting' thought Raditz, clearly, they know what he was talking about so it must have happened at least once. Given his brother no longer had a tail, and that the old man had covered up his brother's origins his entire life, Raditz was starting to suspect that these earthlings in particular might have a lot to answer for. If so, he would relish killing them.

"Listen this is my home, and these are my friends, so it doesn't matter what you say I am. And you sure don't act like any brother I'd wanna have." Kakarot puffed up his chest, "My name is Goku and I live here. Now get the heck off my planet!"

"Even if you are brothers, that doesn't mean Goku has to destroy peaceful planets like you do, you big creep." the blue haired women shouted, apparently getting a boost of confidence from Kakarot's bravo.

"Whatever his past may be, right now Son Goku is a fine earthing, more so than anyone else." Added the older bald man.

"Right! Goku even saved this planet once, so do us all a favor go away!" Krillin further added.

You know what, fuck this diplomacy crap he had been trying. Raditz had just traveled thirteen thousand light years out of his way to pick up the only remining family he had left only to have his goodwill thrown back in his face. He had given his brother the option to come peacefully, and the fool had rejected him. Well, it was his duty as the older sibling to teach the younger one and honestly Kakarot needed all the help he could get. Time to get mean.

"So baby brother wants to be left alone," Raditz mocked as he walked closer to the group, "You can't seriously expect that to happen. You know at this point, I'm afraid you're far too valuable to us for that. You see, our home planet Vegeta met with an unfortunate accident when a huge meteor crashed onto its surface. The planet was vaporized and the Saiyan race destroyed so there's not too many of us left now. The Saiyans have always been a race few in numbers but now, as far as we can tell, there's only four - including you. We were the only Saiyans away from home when the planet exploded. Like you, the rest of us had been sent off to perform some hostile takeovers. And now we've found a nice planet we'd like to conquer that should bring in a very high price. But unfortunately, the natives are a bit on the … potent side so the job's a little bit too big for only three of us to handle. We were almost afraid we'd have to pass it up until I remembered you Kakarot. You're not as powerful as I might have hoped but still with your help we should manage nicely. And after that, well, we'll work on getting you stronger for future assignments."

"Ugh, uh un." Goku awkwardly back away shaking his head, temporarily having lost the ability to speak over the complete information overload he was presented with.

"Well now, what do you think?" Asked Raditz sarcastically, "Are you excited? You should be. Your Saiyan blood should be pumping with the excitement of a hard fight and carnage. Congratulations, I've come to take you back into the fold."

"Don't be ridiculous!" Goku snarled, snapping out of stupor, "I'd die before I'd join a gang of pirates like you!

"So that's how it is? Interesting." Raditz looked pointedly at the small child clinging to the leg of the blue haired woman, "I have been meaning to ask you Kakarot. I couldn't help but notice that boy behind you has a tail."

"Leave him out of this."

"I'll decide that. If you won't join us, I suppose I'll just have to settle for taking the boy in your place. The young Oozaru transformations are so violent that he'd probably take out a quarter of the planet for us on his own. Might even be a better deal for us."

The woman clung tighter to the child, desperately trying to block his view of the boy as he whimpered. That was going to have to be trained out of the kid immediately; if the boy had been born on Vegeta, he'd have already purged two planets at his age. It was going to be a nightmare to get the kid up to where Vegeta wouldn't kill him on sight for the shame he brought to their race. Nappa would be excited though, he often reminisced about the horrendous tortures he had put Raditz though as a child under the guise of 'training'.

"We'll see" Goku snarled, glaring at his brother, and beginning to square up in defense of his son.

"I see the fire in your eyes, brother you should come with us. It's in your blood, you love to fight. But I understand you won't listen to reason."

Suddenly Raditz disappeared. Goku immediately opened his senses, trying desperately to track his bother's ki. Unfortunately, by the time he found it, it was too late and Raditz kneed him directly in the stomach, launching him fifteen feet back into the shoreline. Laying there, Goku coughed and gasped, unable to move and, for the first time in his life, feeling helpless as he watched Gohan run towards him only to be grabbed before reaching him by his so-called brother.

"Like I said, I'm taking your son. And if you ever want to see him alive again, I suggest you listen very closely."

Goku groaned, lifting his head, and spitting out a small amount of sand. Behind Raditz, the remaining adult on the beach stared on in horror, helpless to do anything.

"Now then, as your kindly older brother I'll give you one day to think about my offer. Although let's be realistic Kakarot, I'm not giving you a choice. So, when you decide to join us there's something I want you to do: Prove to me that you mean it. I'll make it simple, by this time tomorrow you'll kill 100 of this planets people. If you find you enjoy it, feel free to kill more. Just stack them here on the beach when you're done, and I'll be back tomorrow for a literal headcount. I do hope you'll come through for me on this one. After all he's my nephew, it'd be a shame if I had to hurt him."

"Help daddy, I'm scared!" Gohan cried, kicking out his legs and reaching for his father.

Goku struggled, unable to even sit up, "Gohan."

Raditz laughed, "What's wrong Kakarot you haven't even answered me. Let's try again as I realize you hit your head as a child: If you ever want to see your son again, I want you to have eliminated at least 100 earthlings by this time tomorrow. Do. You. Understand?

"Uh, huh." Groaning painfully, Goku acknowledges his brother's threat.

"That's good. Do this little job for me and you can join us but fail and I will see to it your son suffers a most unpleasant end."

"You coward, hiding behind a child" Krillin snarled, unable to do anything to the powerful alien.

"Besides it won't do you any good. There's no way Goku could kill anyone!" Roshi added.

"Quiet old man, Kakarot is a Saiyan. I think you'll be very surprised of what he's capable of doing when given proper motivation. Of course, the choice is his. If he values one hundred humans over his son… fine. However, it will make no difference either way, every living thing on this planet will be eliminated soon. After we finish our current job, I've decided the earth with be our next target. Even without Kakarot, three Saiyans are more than enough for the job – we could conquer this puny planet in our sleep," Looking firmly at Kakarot, Raditz reinforced his statement, "So you see brother, whether you kill 100 earthlings or not the end the result is the same."

Goku threw his body forward and grabbed a hold of Raditz's foot, "leave… Gohan… out of this!"

"I wish I could Kakarot," Unbothered by the grab, Raditz looked down at him, "but you understand I need to give you a little extra incentive to do what I ask."

"Please let him go!"

"Just look at how pathetic you are… please brother, show some pride," Raditz easily kicked him off his foot; his brother was going to need some strict re-training before meeting the other Saiyans, but in the meantime, "You have until tomorrow. Try to enjoy it."

Raditz tucked Gohan under his arm and began levitating, "I'm expecting great things from you brother, don't let me down… for your sake as well as his!"

"Daddy help me!" Gohan screamed as the two flew away, disappearing from sight.
