Okay, before we have the fic start properly, I would like to give thanks to WildExpert24 on FFN for giving me a list of all of the fauna of Alberta 75 million years ago. Without their help, I would have been stumped. Now there will be a focus group of dinosaurs and I'll also list the creatures that'll be in the background. (I know, there are lots of cool dinos, but I'm limited to what dinosaurs were discovered in 2004, so if there's a dino discovered or renamed, I'll note it. But speculation of the dinosaurs' lifestyles is more based on current knowledge of what we have as of 2024, so if you complain about it… I will have a "call the producer" segment at the end to address all of that. Okay? Okay. So here are the important stats!

Now then… let's set the scene…

A globe of the Planet Earth comes into focus, with the country of Canada highlighted in blue.

"On the continent of North America, there is a type of geological terrain known as a badland," one voice called out.

"And in one badland near the town of Drumheller, Alberta, comes one of the most important geological sites in understanding the history of life on Earth," another voice called out. The camera then zooms into the providence of Alberta, and the rugged badlands of the Red Deer River Valley. Paleontologists are on a recent dig in search of something as two people, one clad in green and another in blue.

"Hey, it's us, the Kratts Brothers! I'm Chris!" Chris announced.

"And Martin!" Martin added, "And we're at the Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada."

"It may not look like it, but back in the past of the Late Cretaceous, this was a lush sub-tropical forest filled with ferns, cycads, and some of the first flowering plants, near the coast of the Western Interior Seaway, which used to cover all of the Great Plains."

"But the seas were dominated by marine reptiles like Mossasaurus and Terminator."

"And the forests were dominated by the extinct relatives of birds and crocodiles: the dinosaurs."

Martin then gets a fossilized claw of a small dinosaur from a pocket in his pants, "Most dinosaurs are huge, but some dinosaurs like this Dromaeosaurus are really small, but that doesn't make them less fascinating. This Dromaeosaurus claw is one of the many remains of these amazing creatures, and scientists like the ones right here are finding more and more fossils right here in the Dinosaur Park Formation."

"And all of those fossils get sent to the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller to get further cleaned and studied, and even some of the finds get displayed to the public."

"But there's a problem with fossils. Most of the time, they only preserve the skeleton and skin impressions of the animal, not the color, organs, or even the behavior of the animal."

"So paleontologists have to figure out what they look like based on the fossil remains. It isn't easy, and the reconstruction might not represent the species as accurately as possible. Like back in the 19th and early 20th centuries, dinosaurs were pretty much what the group's name was translated from Greek: terrible lizards with mostly scaly skin and tails that drag on the ground."

"But starting in the 1990s, scientists now believed dinosaurs were more active and had feathers on their bodies. But the colors of these extinct animals are still unknown to science."

"Imagine if we could go back in time to see not only what dinosaurs really look like, but also to see all of the amazing creature powers they have."

"What if!" both brothers shouted, and then they transitioned into their animated selves, meaning the real fun was about to begin.

Well, that was the prologue. Next time we get to establish all of the main players of the story: Ms Frizzle and her class, the Wild Kratts Team, and the villains. As for the opening theme... either the Wild Kratts theme song or the Magic School Bus theme song would work... so rate and review!
