Now, there were only 3 candidates left including Ben. He could just throw them out of the arena with reverse gravity. But he can't do that because he needs to show off his power.
This competition aimed to find the strongest among the 4. So the only way to show that is by using his strong and flashy spells. If he just needed to defeat the three, he has a lot of ways but that won't be eye catching.
That's the difference between real battles and a competition like this. In battles, he just needs to win using anything at his disposal. But in this kind of competition he needs to show off his power and impress the judges.
He has shown the ability to defeat one of his opponents easily. Now he needs to use flashy skills to impress the audience more. And what's more flashy than his element modes, the Light Mode.
Ben covered his whole body in light using his Sun Dragon Slayer Magic. His body became bright yellow and radiated strong and bright light. Everyone present was forced to close their eyes because he was too bright.
Sure, it's not his strongest elemental mode which is Solar Mode. But he didn't need to use it against these two. Besides, he needs to hide his best skills as trump cards in the future.
Well, maybe the Council already knew that he can use Solar Mode. Either way it's better to use his best skills less frequently. They might just know that he has it without knowing it's power.
"What a bright light." The green-haired man commented while covering his eyes with his hands.
"Well, sorry for that. Let me dim it a little or you won't be able to see anything. Fighting weakened enemies isn't that fun." Ben said as the light dimmed slowly.
Well, it's not really dimming, he just reduced the spread. He is still very bright but the light doesn't spread too much and just gathered around him. It will be impossible for natural light, but it's possible for magical light. Magic sure is mysterious.
"Now, you don't have any more reason to hide from your defeat." Ben said smugly.
"You can say that after you win, boy." The woman said.
Roots suddenly come out of the ground beneath Ben and grab his feet. The woman had moved her roots under the ground when everyone was distracted by Ben's bright light. It proved she was smart because she can use a good chance while the other one can't.
Her plan would work if it wasn't used on Ben who was very versatile with his magic. He just needed to create a spinning sharp light blade under his feet. The spinning light blade cut the roots easily and released Ben.
The woman was surprised, but she calmed down quickly because she had another plan. After Ben cuts the roots, she raised her hands high into the air. Then suddenly, many giant roots come out of the ground around Ben.
"Her magic is really good. It is not as strong as Azuma's Great Tree Arc, but her mastery over this magic has surpassed Azuma. Really, any magic has the potential to be very strong, be they lost, ancient or just normal magic." Ben stated.
But he doesn't have time to be amazed by the woman's magic. The roots are moving to attack him like whips so he moved to evade them. They are very fast, agile and can move however the woman wants without restriction.
Ben then creates a light sword instead of taking his sword out of his storage mark. He wants to hide the storage mark like some of his skills. Besides, he didn't need to use Pendragon against the roots.
"Sun Dragon Light Saber!" Ben chanted.
Ben's light saber is thin and rather long with a bright yellow color. It looked like a stick instead of a sword, just like a Light Saber from Star Wars. But it is very sharp despite it's unassuming appearance.
After creating the Light Saber, Ben moved around at high speed to cut the roots. With a single slash, he can cut multiple roots because his slash kept generating energy. He can cut all the roots in a short amount of time.
However, when he looked back, the cut roots have grown again. They even multiplied and they attack him again. Ben moved back but he was pushed by a strong wind from behind that sent him forward. The green-haired man joined the fight too.
Ben cut the roots again because he was pushed towards them by the wind. He moved his hands really fast and cut all of the roots in front of him. Then he propelled himself to the side by shooting his light magic from his hand.
He lands on the ground and immediately sped over to the woman. His Light Mode allows him to move at high speed. So he can instantly reach the woman's location, surprising her.
Ben threw a punch at the woman's stomach which was protected by a thick wood armor. The punch hit the wood armor and it was instantly destroyed. It was hard, but not hard enough to defend from Ben's punch.
The woman was sent flying and hit the barrier. She coughed up some blood before falling to the ground. She was conscious and could still stand after that attack. She was definitely a tenacious woman.
Ben wants to move and attack her again, but suddenly she was hit by a strong gust of wind that made her lose consciousness. The green haired man who didn't move much suddenly attacked the weakened woman.
"What? You have something to say?" The green-haired man asked because Ben was staring at him.
"Yeah. You're stupid." Ben said before he suddenly appeared in front of the man.
The man's eyes widen because Ben's right foot is in front of his face already. His face was then kicked by Ben's super fast light kick. He was flung to the side and crashed into the ground, then he rolled until he reached the corner of the arena.
He coughed up and spit out some blood before he looked at Ben who was standing beside him. Ben looked at him like he was trash that wasn't worth his time. The man is trembling a little because he can feel Ben's power from a single kick.
"What is it? Are you angry that I attacked that woman? I had no idea you were so chivalrous." The man asked.
"Why do you think I care about that? The reason I said you are stupid is because you're weaker than her. But you chose to get her out of the way instead of working with her. If you did that, you might be a challenge. Now you don't have a chance and I won't waste time on a weakling." Ben responded.
The man was now angry so he quickly got up and extended his hands forward, forming a white magic circle in front of him. "Damn you! Take this! Great-"
*BAM*
The man was unable to finish his chant because Ben punched the magic circle, destroying it. His punch didn't stop and moved past the man's extended hands. Then it hit the man's face really hard and his nose caved in before the man was flung into the barrier.
The man fell unconscious after he hit the barrier and fell outside the arena. Now, the only candidate still standing was Ben. The other three were unconscious while Ben didn't even have a scratch on him, proving he was stronger than the other 3.
The Wizard Saints looked at him with interest because they knew he was stronger that what was seen in this competition. But the top 2 didn't react before they cut off the connection of their communication lacrima.
Kenshin got up from his seat and made his way down to the arena. He had asked Mira if he could attend the competition and she agreed to the request. Now he was going to confront the Council for having spies infiltrate his guild and their inaction during the Tenrou Island incident.
Ben no longer cared about any of that.
"So, what should we do now?" He asked.
