Wednesday evening, Stephanie and Vincent come over so that their mom can tell them about Krissy. They were in the living room.
"So, what's up, mom?" Stephanie asked with a smile, and Linda saw her smile.
Linda cleared her throat said, "I have something to tell you both. I want you to listen before asking me any questions."
"Okay, mom, we can do that," Vincent and Stephanie said together.
"Good. I know that you two remember 35 years ago when Dad and I went through a trial separation. And the reason for that trial separation was because I found out that your dad was cheating on me. I was fury at him for breaking our wedding vows, and I thought to myself, well, two can play this game, Vincent. So while your dad was not here, I did my cheat, resulting in me being pregnant. When I found out that I was pregnant, I had demanded the trial separation to hide my pregnancy from your dad because I did not know who the father was."
She took a breath and slowly exhaled Vince to rub her back, giving her; the strength to continue and tell them about their half-sister Krissy. She smiled at him and said, "Um, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl on my birthday on Oct 4, 1980. So you have a half-sister named Kristina Alexandria Carrera."
Vincent and Stephanie had shocked looks on their faces.
Stephanie spoke and said, "half-sister, name Kristina."
"Yes, Stephanie"
"Mom, I had always wanted a little sister."
"I know, honey, and I am sorry."
"Mom, I don't understand something."
"What, Vincent"
"If you had another daughter, why didn't you have shared custody of her?"
"There is an explanation for that, Vinny. I did not know how your dad would react to the news of me having a baby outside our marriage, so after I gave birth, I signed away my parental rights to my daughter. I thought I was doing the right thing, but after her father walked out of the hospital, I came home to you, Shane, Steph, and your dad. I started to miss her, and I went to Grandma Evelyn and asked her to loan me some money. And she did without asking me what the money was for. So, I hired an attorney to help me get my parental rights reinstated, but I was too late, already terminated. Since then, all I have done was think about was your sister, all these years. And, a couple of days ago, I confessed to your dad what I did. And, he forgave me, and then I asked him to help me look for her."
"Dad, are you helping mom looks for her daughter, my sister?" Stephanie asked
"Well, I was going to help, but it turned out that I didn't have because your sister lives here in Connecticut."
"What?" Stephanie and Vincent said simultaneously
Vince and Linda chuckle, "Your sister, Kristina, lived in Old Greenwich with her family and other relatives."
"The whole time"
"Yes, Steph, since her birth, she has lived Old Greenwich."
"Wow. So have you seen Kristina, mom?"
"Yes, she came here the day of Payback when you were in Chicago. I also met my son-in-law and grandkids."
"And you, dad."
"I met your sister, Krissy, and her kids Monday after my doctor's appointment."
"And she has invited us, you two with your families, to her house on Saturday because your nephew Alex Jr. is making his first Holy Communion on Saturday."
"Really"
"Yes, really"
Vincent and Stephanie smiled and said, "We can't wait to meet her and her family.
"Good. I have some pictures," she said, getting up and going to retrieve the pictures.
A few minutes she came walking back into the living room and sat down beside Stephanie. "This is your nephew Alex Jr." showing them a picture.
"Alex is a handsome little guy," Stephanie said, looking at her nephew.
"Yes, he is, " Vincent said, looking at his nephew
"And this is your niece Catherine Rose," she said, showing her the picture of her niece.
"Wow, she is adorable, mom," she said
'Yes, she is Steph," she said as Vincent looked at his niece
"How old is Catherine, mom?' Vincent asked
"Catherine is four and half years old; she will be five in December," she replied
"There two December babies in the family," Stephanie said,
"Yes. Your nephew Stephen Anthony and niece Kayla Alexandria," she said, showing them the picture of the twins
"Twins mom," Stephanie said, shock
"Yes, twins, your sister take after me by having twins," she replied with a smile.
"Boy does she, mom," he said, looking at the picture.
Linda smiled and said, "And this is your sister Kristina with her husband Alex Sr.," she said, showing them the picture of sister and brother in law.
They looked at the picture they saw how much Kristina looked like their mom and Stephanie, except for her complexion and sandy blonde hair; she is Linda's daughter and Stephanie's little sister. They could see she gets her complexion probably from her father.
"Wow, mom. Krissy is gorgeous, and her husband Alex is good-looking," Stephanie said.
"Yes, she is gorgeous, and he is not bad-looking."
Nope, my daughter has good taste in men."
"What in the envelope, mom?" Vincent asked
"This is a letter that Kristina's mother Catherine wrote me before she died."
Vincent and Stephanie thought their heard wrong
"Died," she said.
"Yes, baby, your sister lost her mom and father when she was is fourteen years old."
"How mom?" he asked
"Her parents were killed in a car accident After Mother's Day 21 years ago."
"Wow,"
"Krissy did not know about the letter until a couple of days ago when she finally opened the manila envelope that had her name on it. So that how she found out her mom Catherine wasn't her biological mother and I was, and then she found this letter for me."
"If you don't mind, mom, what does the letter say?" She asked
"The letter thanks me for the extraordinary gift I gave Catherine in my daughter Kristina. Catherine wrote me telling me how Krissy is her heart and everything. Krissy is a lovely and caring girl. She knows that her husband lied to me about their separation. Catherine is not mad at me but is furious at him for what he has done to me with his lies and for keeping Krissy and me apart for those fifteen years. She did not like that one bit. She wants me to know my daughter and hopes that Krissy and I can build a mother/relationship like she and Krissy had. She would do her best to make sure that Kristina respected me. She was not raising her to be rude or disrespectful. And then she hoped that she and I could meet and talk about Krissy. She tried to get my parental rights reinstated and shared custody of Kristina. Unfortunately, she died before I could meet her and get my parental right reinstated and share custody."
"I feel terrible that Kristina lost such a loving, caring mom, like Catherine," Stephanie said.
"Yea, me to mom. Catherine sounds like a wonderful woman and mother to our sister."
"Me too. Catherine sound like a wonderful woman who loves Krissy so much."."
