19 year old Harold McGrady V, absolutely hated his life right now. Since the day he was born, his system had been riddled with health problems. Over the course of his life, he had contracted 300 diseases. At least once every three months, a 911 call was needed for him. That was before he signed up for a reality show called Total drama. That show ended up making his life even worse. For starters, at one point in the competition, nearly ever other contestant banded together to show his private parts on international tv, without his consent. Shortly after that, he thought they would all be disqualified and arrested for sexually harassing him, but they weren't. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, he tampered with the votes to eliminate a girl named Courtney as payback for violating him. He was also doing this to get back at her boyfriend Duncan, who also violated him. Harold wanted Duncan to suffer through the rest of the competition, due to not having his girlfriend by his side. Harold would get eliminated in the following episode, and would have the crap beaten out of him by Courtney. Harold was pissed about all of the injustice. People that stand up to sex offenders should be rewarded, and Harold got the exact opposite. What infuriated him even more, was that the contestants who weren't involved in that perverted stunt, never stood up for him. In fact some of them were actually quite rude to him.
Things only got worse in season two. At one point, himself and several other cast members were about to drown in a submarine. With some quick thinking, Harold was able to drain out the water, and saved the day. Harold thought that because he saved everyone's lives, he'd be regarded as a brave hero, and finally get some respect. The exact opposite happened. Nobody thanked him for saving them, and they continued to treat him like crap. Duncan even went so far as to wish death upon him.
In between seasons 2 and 3, Harold fell into a state of depression. He couldn't find a single fan that actually respected him for standing up to a sex offender. Instead, people only saw him as a dirty cheater. He couldn't even find anyone that recognized his heroic actions. During this time, he and three other contestants started up a boy band, and this only made him more unpopular.
When season three started, Harold decided that he was done respecting the people that were ruining his life. Throughout the first three episodes, he was a complete asshole to everyone else. Then he just quit the show, he didn't want to be around the people that didn't recognize him for what he was. The series then ended three seasons later, and a completely separate reality showed aired shortly afterwards. Harold currently still lives with his mother and two older siblings, and works as a waiter in an Ihop.
His older brother is named Henry, and he is older by 10 years. Henry currently works at the same Ihop Harold works at, working in the kitchen as one of the chefs. He is one of only three people confirmed to legitimately care about Harold. He spit in a customer's drink one time, because he told Harold right to his face, that Duncan was a better human being than him.
Harold's oldest sibling was named Helen, and she was older by 13 years. She graduated from medical school when she was 28, and since then has been working at the hospital in the town she currently lives in. If a patient in the ER absolutely hated Harold, she would refuse to treat them, and have another doctor take care of them instead.
Then of course, there was Harold's mother Carol. Carol was born in England, and was originally married to Harold McGrady IV. They would go on to have two kids, who of course ended up being Helen and Henry. But while Carol was pregnant with Harold Junior, things were getting intense between her and Harold Senior. After several arguments, Carol finally couldn't take it anymore, and divorced her husband. Harold IV was devastated when this happened, as he still loved his wife. He was even more devastated, that Carol was taking the kids with her. Harold IV would never get to meet the son whom he was named after. Shortly after Harold V was born, the family moved to Canada. In years to come, Carol would regret her decision to file a divorce. She misses her husband, and really wants to get back together with him, but she doesn't know where he is.
The family currently lives in a two story beach house. In one of the bedrooms on the second floor, Carol sleeps in a king sized bed, with a framed photo of her ex husband on their wedding day. Right next door is the bedroom of her kids. Helen, Henry, and Harold share a triple bunk bed. Helen sleeps on the top, Harold sleeps on the bottom, and Henry sleeps in the middle.
One day, it was calm and peaceful, and the McGrady's were the only ones at the beach, or so they thought. Carol was about to sit on one of the beach chairs, until she heard something in a Scottish accent. "Whoa easy there, you're about to flatten me." Carol quickly got up, and saw a blonde man already sitting there. What was weird about this man, was that he was only 18 inches tall. "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING!?" shouted Carol. Her kids ran over to her to see what was going on. They were confused at what they were seeing. "Is this some kind of hallucination?" asked Henry. "I'm not your imagination, i'm a human just like you" said the tiny man. "Where did you even come from?" asked Harold. "Scotland" said the man. "We figured that from the accent, but that doesn't explain why you're the size of a rat" said Helen. "It may seem complicated, but i'm actually from a completely different universe" said the little man. "It's very similar to the universe we're in right now, with two major differences being that it's a lot smaller, and there are talking machines." "Normally i'd point out how impossible that is, but I guess anything goes when you're having a conversation with a 2 ft scott" said Harold. "Actually, i'm 1 ft 6" said the man. "I never properly introduced myself, the name is Mr Conductor Jr."
The McGrady family introduced themselves, and Mr C Junior began telling them about a place called Sodor.
Authors note: You're probably thinking, of all the movies to have a crossover with the Total drama series, why pick the film that began the downward spiral of Thomas the tank engine? If i'm being honest, I actually really like Thomas and the magic railroad, and I think that the movie is underrated. But I won't deny it, the film does have problems. And in terms of theatrical movies, this is the worst 8/10 film I have ever seen.
For this fanfic, i'm going to be taking a lot of elements from the director's cut. And i'm not talking about the work print that was leaked to youtube, i'm talking the original cut before they started filming, the original script. Of course, there will be some minor changes.
Also, the reason why McGrady is in "quotations", is to not confuse the audience, because there happens to be a Thomas and friends character with the same first name.
Also, Contrary to popular belief, I don't think this movie is acting as though the island of Sodor is a completely different universe. Sodor is still an island between the Isle of man, and the english mainland near Barrow and Furness in Cumbria. The universe referred to in the movie, is an alternate version of planet earth, with one major difference being that the vehicles are alive. Sodor is not it's own world. I do not think it is a plot hole like most Thomas fans.
