The next morning
Ina woke up early the next morning, yawning widely before stretching her arms above her head. The smell of a busy kitchen already hung heavy in the air.
"Morning, Kuro-kun!" she called out cheerfully, still half asleep. She stretched again, causing her hair to sway enticingly in the breeze created by her movements. "Is it already time for breakfast?" "Almost, I'm just finishing up the eggs" Kuro-kun called from the kitchen.
Ina yawned again, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand. She stood up slowly, stretching out her legs before heading over to the fridge to grab some milk for her cereal. "Oh, smells great!" She complimented, pouring herself a bowlful of her favorite fruity cereal and sitting down at the table across from him. "So, what are your plans for today, Kuro-kun?" She asked curiously, taking a sip of her milk.
"Well, it's Friday, so back to work again and after that we have an entire weekend to ourselves."
"Oh, really? That sounds nice." Ina nodded in understanding. She finished eating her cereal quickly, savoring every bite before setting the empty bowl down on the table. "I don't have any particular plans myself," she admitted honestly. "Maybe I'll spend some time reading more of this book or playing with my Takodachi friends outside if the weather permits." She grinned widely, reaching down to pet one of her fluffy creatures sitting beside her. "Lucky you..." Kuro-kun said as he looked wistfully out the window. "If you're gonna be home all day, could you do the laundry today?"
"Yes, of course! I'll wash the clothes myself." Ina promised dutifully, standing up from her chair and going to her room to gather her laundry basket. She carried it over to the washing machine in the side room and started sorting through the pile of dirty clothes.
Kuro-kun put his hand on Ina's shoulder. "Well, I gotta go. I'll see you around 5. Have fun with the Takodachi." "See you later, Kuro-kun!" Ina waved goodbye to him as he left the apartment. She finished her chores quickly and decided to take advantage of the nice weather outside. She put on a pair of comfortable shorts and a loose tank top. She set up a nice chair outside and made herself comfortable in the warm sun.
Sadly, the weather soon turned grey and colder. Ina squirmed slightly as the falling raindrops splattered against her exposed skin, causing goosebumps to form on her arms and legs. She dashed back towards the house, seeking shelter from the sudden downpour.
Once inside, she kicked off her wet shoes and hung her soaked clothes in the laundry room before retrieving a dry set of comfy pajamas from her backpack. As she changed into them, she couldn't help but reminisce about the peaceful moments spent with Kuro-kun earlier today. Just thinking about him she blushed brightly at the thought of their growing connection. Then thinking of Kuro-kun, she remembered the strange book that A-chan had found earlier this month. She hadn't opened it much since picking it up, but today seemed like a good day to delve deeper into its mysteries.
Gathering her courage, she retrieved the leather-bound tome from her bookshelf and settled down on her cozy bed with a cup of warm tea by her side. As she flipped through its ancient pages, eerie symbols and runes etched into the parchment paper began to glow ominously under her fingertips. The air around her grew colder as if something sinister was awakening within the confines of her safe haven.
Ina's eyes widened in fear and fascination as the pages of the book began to flutter rapidly, revealing images of monstrous tentacled creatures ripping apart cities and devouring helpless humans. The room around her grew darker, casting sinister shadows across the walls. "No... Stop!" she cried out, but it was futile as the book's malevolent influence continued to engulf her senses. Suddenly, a powerful surge of energy erupted from the book, and Ina felt herself being pulled into its depths. Her body twisted and contorted, transforming into a massive, writhing mass of tentacles that stretched endlessly in every direction. The once-human girl became engulfed by the ancient entity, its evil nature engulfing her completely, despite her attempts to resist. Suddenly, she felt something within her change. As she started to transform, she also felt the knowledge of the ancient times, long forgotten in the minds of today's people, enter her very being. She became one with the tome's magic. Ina's eyes glowed with otherworldly power as she emerged from the book, standing tall and imposing. Her body was now that of a towering goddess, covered head-to-toe in tentacles—some thicker than tree trunks, others thin as spider legs. In addition to her newfound strength and height, she radiated an aura of malice and chaos capable of reducing even the bravest souls to quivering wrecks.
"Kuro-kun..." She spoke softly, her voice laced with darkness and menace. "You shouldn't have summoned me." But Kuro-kun wasn't even there. The apartment was empty save for the rain pattering against the windows and the flickering lights illuminating the eerie scene before him. Raindrops formed on the windowpane as if crying tears of fear for what awaited outside. Suddenly, her consciousness returned to her. She became aware of her situation and was now, if only briefly, in control of her newfound power. Ina's eyes snapped back to their usual color, and she regained control of her body. The tentacles retracted into her figure, leaving behind traces of ink on the walls and furniture. She stood there, panting heavily, looking around in shock at what had happened.
"What... What did I do?" She asked herself, her voice trembling with fear and confusion. With shaky steps, she made her way towards the living room, trying to gather her scattered thoughts. "Kuro-kun... Kuro-kun..." She called out his name repeatedly, panic rising within her as she realized he wasn't home.
Her mind swam with questions and confusion. She tried to collect herself, but she felt a panic attack coming on. Until... She felt a familiar presence on her leg. Ina jumped in surprise as she felt a cold, slimy touch on her leg. Turning around in panic, she saw one of her Takodachis curled up beside her, its tentacles wrapped around her ankle. "Y-You... You're real?" She stuttered, reaching down to pet it reassuringly. "Thank goodness. I thought I imagined you all... I..." Her voice trailed off as another wave of fear washed over her. "I need help. What happened? Did I hurt anyone?" She asked frantically, searching the apartment for any signs of destruction or harm done. The Takodachi mewed assertively and Ina understood this as 'everything okay'.
Wait ... She understood the Takodachi? That was new.
"Y-Yes, you're right. Everything seems fine here." Ina sighed in relief, her heart rate slowly returning to normal. She sat down on the couch and buried her face in her hands, trying to calm down. After a moment of silence, she looked up at the Takodachi again, unable to suppress a small smile. "Thank you... for helping me," she managed to say between heavy breaths. "I... I don't know what came over me. It was like I... transformed into something else..." Her voice trailed off as she shuddered involuntarily at the thought of becoming that monstrous entity again. It was at this moment that she heard a familiar clicking of the front door and a voice calling out to her
"Ina, I'm home!"
