Chapter 2: The Dream

(Just under 10 years later…)

Date: Sunday 16th June 2013

Time: 10:00pm

Year: 2013

Location: The White's Residence, Chamberlain, Maine

The screen cut to the White's Residence with a gong playing in the background to Chamberlain, Maine with Ten Years Later.

It was another day that passed by Chamberlain, Maine. The end of another weekend.

Carrie was heading to the bedroom to go to sleep. Tomorrow was the beginning of another week at school.

Meaning another week of bullying, torture, name calling, and laughing. It was to the point she got used to it since that's how it has been her whole life.

In addition to that her mamma didn't care what happened to her at school. She was a crazy religious woman who believed almost everything Carrie did was a sin. Whenever Carrie would "sin", she would be locked up in the Prayers closet so she can "pray for forgiveness". She would sometimes be locked up in there for hours, day, or sometimes even for days (more than one day).

Which explains why Carrie is going to bed just right now. She was locked in that closet for hours. From the afternoon to nightfall. Her mother believed Carrie committed a sin because she "hung out with a boy". But in reality they were just working on school related stuff together.

Not only is she going to sleep late but she wasn't able to complete due to her mother locking her.

Carrie started crying quietly. Her entire life was a nightmare. She was pushed around both in school and at home. She has no one who can help her. Even if she tries to talk to someone, they just call her names and walk away. That was all the teens like her. The adults, they would scream at her whenever she would try to talk to them to go away since they all assumed she was just like her freak religious mother. She had absolutely no one.

Sometimes she wishes she could just end it all. Hurt them all, make them suffer and scream in so much pain until they begged for death. That was the dark side of her mind. Another part of her mind told her not to do it since it is wrong and wouldn't make her any better.

Carrie just continued to cry, feeling all of the emotional pain she had been suffering for these past years. Eventually she cried herself to sleep, still sobbing…

*In a dream*

Carrie's eyes slowly opened. She was still in her bedroom on her bed. She looked around and saw her bedroom was fine and nothing was out of place.

But something felt different. She felt a sudden change in the atmosphere. She sensed something. Something from outside.

Carrie looked out her bedroom window. She couldn't see through but something was going on outside. It was glowing purple. She got curious on what was going on. She got out of bed and walked to the curtains and opened them.

Her eyes widened as she saw a house on fire.

"What the-" Carrie questioned.

Carrie looked to her left to see if there was anything else and to her shock there were like four or five other houses burning to the ground. Carrie stepped back from the curtains in fright. What could have caused those houses to catch fire and get destroyed so easily. Something was going on. She doesn't know what, but she will find out what it is.

Carrie walked out of her bedroom door and quietly and slowly walked stairs to not wake her mother up. Once she got to the bottom of the stairs she began speed walking to the front doors.

Carrie hesitated for a moment. She felt nervous for some reason. Something was telling her not to go outside. That she would be in great danger if she did. That it was not safe. Carrie didn't know if it was just her who felt nervous because she didn't go outside that much on her own, especially at night or something was actually warning her not to go outside.

Another part of her was curious and was telling her to go outside and see what was going on and that she would be fine and nothing would hurt her.

The sides of her brain fought for a moment until the curious got the better of her.

Carrie grabbed the door knob and swung the door open.

Immediately after doing that Carrie felt a wave of hot air splash across her face making her cover her face with her hands and look away for a moment. A few seconds later she turned back, removed her hands from her face, and opened her eyes.

Her eyes widened as she saw the fires had already spread across rapidly to many other houses across both sides of the street. Everything was burning to the ground.

"What is going on?" Carrie asked in a worried voice.

Carrie decided to walk down the streets to try to find out what's happening. As she walked down the street she only kept seeing house after house burning to the ground. Everything was on fire. There were some houses she saw which were already destroyed.

That's when she realized something. Something horrifying. Something she didn't thought of since she was too curious to find out what was happening.

"There are people living in these houses." Carrie said in a horrified voice.

Carrie then rapidly looked around, trying to see if it anymore was in the houses. But she didn't see anymore.

"They must of burned to death in their sleep without them knowing." Carrie said while her face turned pale.

Carrie walked a little faster, desperate to find an answer to all of this.

As Carrie started to see cars that were flipped over, or burning. She even saw some cars that looked like they crashed into some homes. She jumped when one of the cars exploded out of nowhere. There was glass everywhere.

"HELP! HELP ME!" Someone screamed, causing Carrie to jump in fright.

Carrie turned to the direction of the scream and saw a man on fire running towards her while screaming in pain.

"PLEASE HELP ME, PLEASE!" The man continued running towards her before he collapsed before her and died on the spot while burning.

Carrie was in total shock by what she just witnessed.

Then she heard even more screams in the distance. Screams filled with terror.

Carrie looked away from the man and looked up. In the distance through the smoke she saw the flames were starting to grow and were much stronger over there. In fact they looked so strong that the whole sky started to light up orange.

Without even thinking if it's a good idea to go to the direction of the screams, Carrie ran to the flames to see what was going on. All the while she kept seeing houses, cars, trees, even parts of the roads destroyed or burning. The destruction seemed more severed the more she ran to the source of the screams. Then she started bodies everywhere. Dead bodies. Either completely torn apart, crushed, burning, or all the above scaring Carrie to the core.

"Oh my God…" Carrie said in horror.

The screams were getting louder and louder which only made her even more scared than she already was. When it sounded like she was almost there, the screams suddenly stopped. Carrie didn't if she should feel calm, worried, or more scared because she didn't hear anything anymore.

Eventually, like four minutes later, running through the smoke, Carrie finally arrived at the location of the screams. She was greeted by a sight that would haunt her possibly for the rest of her life.

Dead bodies were everywhere, on the roads, houses, on some trees, on the school. They were either still intact, torn apart, crushed, or burning. The smell of burning human flesh reached Carrie's nose making her gag in disgust and horror.

"The school…" Carrie said in realization.

Carrie looked at the building that was familiar and that's when she realized she was in front of one of the entrances of Ewen High School. She looked up and saw the entire school burning. She looked around. The flames were roaring and were so high into the sky. Everything was on fire. The houses, every tree, the grass, cars, even the road somehow.

Carrie was so horrified seeing all of this and was frozen with fear.

"What could have done all of this?" Carrie questioned.

Then the whole ground shook causing Carrie to fall down to the ground. It was like a mini earthquake just happened. The ground shook again, causing Carrie to fall down again when she tried to get up. She heard the ground shake again and this time she was able to hear something. It sounded like footsteps. Big gigantic footsteps. What could be so big that it can cause gigantic footsteps. She didn't know of any animal that's big enough to do that.

The ground shook two more times until the footsteps stopped. There was no sound at all. No screams, no birds or any small animal, no wind. Just the sound of the roaring flames.

Carrie, feeling so much more scared than before, looked around trying to see what caused the footsteps…

That was when Carrie looked ahead and looked up and saw it.

Through the flames and smoke, there was something standing there, something group. Not gigantic. It had a robot body, had long arms with sharp claws, had skill-like skin, and was a massive robot. It had huge spines on its back, spines that were like the ones from a stegosaurus. It had a huge face, a face so big it looked like it could be bigger than the houses in the neighborhood. Carrie looked alien-like, like a mix of the ship and a skull.

Though when she saw her eyes. Oh God his eyes…

It had eyes that were full of anger, evil, and hate. Eyes that showed it wanted vengeance, to destroy, and to kill. It was like staring at death himself.

Carrie was frozen in shock and fear at what she was seeing. There was no skull or ship that she or the world knows looked like this. This ship is something new, entirely new. An alien ship she has never seen before, ever. And definitely the world has never seen before. She couldn't believe this thing was alive. That this was a living being.

Suddenly the bottom trip of his eyes started to purple, confusing Carrie for a moment.

"What…" Carrie questioned in confusion.

Carrie was confused for a moment before the glowing purple color at the back of his eyes started to go up as more of his spines started to glow. Carrie started to feel scared again as she saw more of his spines glowing. Carrie started to have a really bad feeling that something was about to happened. Something huge.

His purple kept glowing and kept going up until it stopped his eyes. The skull-head then rose his eyes up and Carrie saw some purple energy getting sucked into his laser eyes.

Carrie suddenly felt a feeling, multiple feelings that were so negative. Feelings full of hopelessness, helplessness, defeat, despair. The negative feelings kept going on and on…

Then the skull head moved forward at a fast speed and fired a purple laser beam making Carrie's mouth open wide in shock and watch it as it traveled all across Chamberlain, Maine destroying houses and some buildings intently that was close by the laser. It then hit the ground at an unknown location. The laser then stopped and Carrie looked ahead were the beam traveled to, waiting to see what would happened.

Five seconds later, a gigantic explosion happened.

Like if a nuke was just dropped.

Anything within the area of the explosion was instantly vaporized.

A huge shockwave was released and destroyed every home, cars, tree, building, person. Everything was gone in an instant.

Carrie could only watch in horror as she saw this. Seeing everything in the distance just get destroyed instantly. Leaving nothing in its wake…

Then the shockwave was arriving to where Carrie was. That was when she snapped back and she could only scream in fear and in pain as the shockwave hit her school destroying it completely and then hitting her. She felt being tear apart and being disintegrated as she was blown away by the shockwave. The last thing she heard was the terrifying skull ship of the alien himself…

Then everything went black.

*End of the dream*

Carrie woke up from her sleep screaming in terror in her bed. She felt her heart pounding really fast and began rapidly by what she had just seen. It felt like something straight out of hell. The worst dream… or nightmare she's ever had. And ever felt.

Carrie was so shaken by what she had seen. A couple minutes passed by before she calmed and looked around. She saw she was still in her bedroom. Safe. She looked at the curtains of her bedroom window. There was no glowing purple color seen. Carrie got up from her bed and opened the curtains. To her massive relief there were no burning houses or flames seen anywhere…

Carrie relaxed and sat down back down on her bed. She started thinking about what she just saw. Just what in the hell did she just see. As Carrie had seen the whole town of Chamberlain, Maine on fire. Houses, cars, trees, roads, buildings, everything. The screams. Seeing dead bodies everywhere. The school is burning. The flames rising higher into the sky.

Then seeing that massive skull-like alien through the flames and smoke. Something she or humanity had never seen before. She's never seen a skull ship so big ever in her life…

Then that skull ship firing his laser beam at Chamberlain, Maine causing a gigantic explosion that can lever her entire town in seconds. It terrified her that this unknown robot had that much power to do this.

It felt so real. Carrie touched her face and it felt hot. Was it because she was so nervous or because the flames felt so real?

Who is this skull ship? What is an alien? Is he real? Or is this just some part of her imagination?

Was this just a dream? Was this a nightmare? Was this a vision? Was this a warning? Did the trauma from her entire life cause her to be this scared even in her own bed?

Carrie had so many questions in her mind that she didn't have answers which only scared her more. Every time she tried to find an answer to a question it only created even more questions. She didn't know if she should just forget about what she had seen or try to warn someone. Should she should tell her mother, a random teenager/student, a random adult, a teacher from the school, the police force, THE MILITARY THE GOVERNMENT?! Carrie felt she was about to lose her mind.

Eventually Carrie thought thinking about this right now in the middle of the night wasn't gonna get her anywhere. She decided to just forget about it and thought she was just overreacting. It was just a nightmare. There is no way a skull ship doesn't like that exists. It's just impossible. Although some part of her was telling it wasn't just a nightmare but didn't let that part of her scare her.

Carrie lay back down on her bed and closed her eyes. She fell asleep quickly and didn't have any more nightmares through the rest of the night…

To Be Continued…
