Every Friday night at Fenton Works was family dinner, a time for all the Fentons to sit at the table and eat together. When Danny was a teen, he would rather be anywhere else hanging out with his friends or maybe on a date with Penny.

Now he was grown up, and he didn't want to be anywhere else on a Friday night, though nowadays, they needed a way bigger table with his parents. Danny Jazz thirty-one-half ghosts their significant others, their families, and sometimes Sam and Tucker.

Danny and Penny walked into his parent's house. Even from the porch, they could hear the hustle and bustle of people moving around inside and smell all the food people had brought.

"Hey, it's the happy couple," Buzz shouted happily from the couch. He hugged Danny and Penny. "it took you long enough."

"He would have asked her sooner if not for your 911 stunt," Iris snarked with a grin. "you cost me twenty dollars."

"Me too," Carter called out from where he stood with his wife, Juleka Fenton.

"That crazy Red Lantern made me lose the bet," Mack added. "After she showed up, he didn't try for a week."

There were other jokes about how people lost money betting on one of Danny's failed proposals. Conner is making the joke that.

"Danny could fight a ghost bent on destroying the world but gets scared to ask a girl who has been with him for almost ten years to marry him."

"That reminds me, who was the wise guy who started making bets on when I was going to propose to Penny?" Danny asked, pretending to look angry. This stopped the jokes, as some worried he was angry.

Danny's frown turned into a smile. "I think the bigger question would be if Hunter asked the Phantom for permission to marry his daughter, or they just flew off to Vegas."

"Good question. My money would have Vegas," Phantasma joked before others began laughing. Hunter rolled his eyes from where he was standing

Danny and Penny walked in. His cousins congratulated him while the ladies talked excitedly to Penny about wedding details.

Danny's parents came up from the lab and grinned at them, his dad giving him a big bear hug. "Congratulations, son. It sure took you long enough," he said.

"Don't tell me you bet money on when I was going to propose too."

"Not money, son Fudge, and now I owe Luke a pound of the stuff," he said.

"You shouldn't have a pound of fudge anyways since the doctor says you need to watch your weight," his mom reminded sternly before hugging Danny and kissing Penny on the cheek.

"Congratulations, you two. We're so happy and proud," she said

"Thanks, Mrs. Fenton," Penny said happily, smiling,

"Call me mom. You're family," his mom said, "and speaking of the family, let's eat."

Food was piled out on a long table as everyone began to sit down. Danny was sitting down next to Henry and his wife, Alex Fenton. On her lap was their son James Fenton, and on Henry's was their daughter Madison. Across from them was Jazz and Antonio.

Danny waved at Madison, making silly faces at her, making her giggle

"Congratulations," Henry said smiling, handing them a hardcover book with one hand holding his daughter with the other. "Consider this an early wedding present."

Danny looked down at the cover. It had the silhouette of a man stepping away from a clock tower on a stormy night. It read "Issac Crow dark storm" by Henry Fenton in bold letters.

While his wonderful future wife Penny wrote about women and minorities and their societal issues, Henry was undoubtedly inspired by all the gothic books he'd read at the Skulk and Lurk. While working as a supernatural consultant with Alex, he wrote spy novels.

"Your new book," Danny asked with a grin. "I thought it didn't come out until December,

"My publisher gave me an early copy," Henry said. "Just keep it away from the press. I don't want to know what she'd do if a critic got their hands on that copy."

"Samantha isn't that bad," Alex said, talking about her friend and Henry's publisher

"I'd rather not take the chance," Henry said

Penny laughed. "Don't worry, Henry, no one will know what happens in your book except us," Penny said, grabbing the book. "I can't wait to read it."

"Hey, why do you get to read it first?" Danny playfully asked while Penny smiled.

"Cause I'm the bride, and the bride gets what she wants," Penny answered with a smirk.

"You know you can only use that card until the summer, right?" Danny asked, leaning in. "then you're stuck with me."

"Doesn't sound too bad to me," Penny said, their lips inches away.

They were about to kiss when they heard a gagging sound. Danny and Penny looked to see Dani sticking her tongue out with a fake disgusted look. "Do you mind I'm eating?"

"With how often you've seen it, sister, I'd figure you'd have an immunity to familial public displays of affection," Luke said to the twenty-two-year-old halfa

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean I want to see it," Dani said. "With thirty genetic brothers and sisters, do you know how many make-out sessions I've walked in on?"

"I'm guessing a lot," Tommy Fenton asked, sitting beside his wife, Debbie Chang. There were slightly embarrassed blushes on their faces, along with several others.

"Yes, a lot," Dani answered with a deadpan.

"She never walked in on me and Cassie," Stuart said

"You're six inches tall, and she's five foot seven. How do you two make out at all?" Nick asked

"Changing the subject from making out, you've already set a date," Misty asked, changing the subject.

"We have this summer on the tenth anniversary of our first date from the dating service," Penny answered, holding hands with Danny. "Plus, it gives everyone time to sort out getting time off from work and us time to hash out some details,"

"We want the whole family there if we can manage it," Danny said, noticing the frown on his dad's face. "Dad, knowing Aunt Alicia, she'll just send a blender as a wedding present and not come," he reminded his dad. Buzz's to Gwen was the only wedding his aunt had actually attended in person.

Danny still didn't know how Buzz got along so well with his mom and sister, and honestly, he didn't care to know Aunt Alicia was better in small doses.

"Where is the wedding going to be between our family, the Prouds, and any friends you're going to invite? It's going to need a lot of space," Jason asked, "and a lot of security."

"We've got that covered too. Wizard Kelly has wanted to repay Danny for years for saving the city from the evil peanut clones," Penny said. "We cashed in that favor and reserved the Wizard Kelly Hotel and Casino for the wedding,"

"Between the hotel security and you looking things over, Jason, no one will get through that isn't invited."

"Not that anyone would be stupid enough to crash a wedding with thirty halfas two protective ghost hunters, and a who knows how many superheroes who'll show up," Dani quipped

"Don't jinx it, Dani," Henry said, "but I almost feel sorry for anyone who tries to crash your wedding." Henry's eyes glowed ominously for a moment. "Almost."

Some more wedding planning was discussed, like Penny going out to buy a dress, who'd do the catering stuff like that between meals, or talking about what was happening with other family members.

When they were walking out, Dani asked him quietly that she be put down as bringing a plus one. Not knowing his youngest sister was seeing someone, Danny was curious, but Dani was tight-lipped. "You'll find out at the wedding," was all she said before she grabbed her bag and headed home

Danny drove Penny back to her apartment, kissing her on the cheek. "I love you," he said.

"I love you too, Danny," she said, kissing him one more before walking inside.

Danny smiled, walking off with a smile on his face

He loved Friday nights
