The next morning, Elijah was sitting in the kitchen twirling the moonstone in his hand. This was his reminder that his daughter was still alive and would stay alive as long as he had it. Niklaus believed Elena was a doppelganger, and he wouldn't be able to perform the sacrifice as long as Elijah had the moonstone in his possession. The only way Elena's life would be in danger otherwise was if she revealed to Niklaus that she wasn't a doppelganger, and his daughter had more sense than that. She'd know to bide her time until he came for her, and Elijah would be coming for her. And if absolutely necessary, Elena could defend herself against his brother at least long enough to get away. He wasn't sure why she hadn't done that in the first place, but he trusted that she had her reasons. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that they had been in public, and Niklaus could've harmed anyone in that restaurant.
So far, Elijah hadn't had luck in finding Elena. He'd allowed Bonnie Bennett to do a location spell, but it hadn't worked. The spell claimed that Elena's location was in Antarctica, which he knew was not the case. Clearly, Niklaus had had a witch block their location, which wasn't surprising.
Elijah had attempted to contact Jonas several times to help him find his daughter, but he couldn't get ahold of him. He'd gone to his home to find that there was no trace of him or his son. The fact that that had happened around the same time that his daughter was kidnapped was very telling to Elijah. Jonas was running because he'd betrayed them. He would live just long enough to regret that.
Soon, Elijah heard footsteps. He turned to see Jeremy enter the room. "Hello, Jeremy. I hope you at least slept a little."
Jeremy shrugged. He'd gotten a little bit of sleep, but not much. "Any news."
"No, but she is alive. Niklaus needs this, or at least he thinks he does," Elijah said as he held up the moonstone.
Jeremy looked by Elijah's feet and saw a large duffle bag. "You're leaving?"
Elijah nodded. "I'm going to find Elena and my brother. I will bring her home, Jeremy."
"But I thought you said Klaus had to come back here if he wants to do the sacrifice," Jeremy said. It seemed to him that it made more sense to wait. Although, waiting for Klaus to show up sounded like torture to Jeremy.
"Yes, but I'm not waiting. I'm going to bring my daughter home," Elijah said firmly.
"What do I tell Jenna about you both being gone?" Jeremy asked.
"You won't tell her anything. I will tell her that I had a family emergency and that Elena and I will be out of town for a few days. Once I come back with Elena, I am going to tell Jenna the truth," Elijah said. It wasn't right to continue to expect Jeremy and Elena to lie to their aunt, and it wasn't fair to Jenna to continue to keep her in the dark. He had done so to protect Elena, but it couldn't stay a secret forever.
Jeremy nodded. "You'll tell me if you find anything, right?"
"Yes. I will keep in contact with you, Jeremy. I will do my best to talk with you every day, no matter what I have or haven't found out, and we will be back," Elijah promised the boy. In the time he'd spent with Jeremy, he'd come to love him the way he loved Elena. He would not abandon him. "Now, go and get ready for school, and yes, you unfortunately do still have to go today."
"Okay," Jeremy said before leaving the room.
Elijah meant what he said. He was bringing his daughter home. He would find her and Niklaus, and he would make his brother wish he'd never laid eyes on Elena. First though, he was going to hunt down Jonas. If Jonas had betrayed them to Niklaus, he at least knew where Niklaus was at one point. Elijah would make him tell him, and then he would torture him until the point where he was begging for death.

Elena woke up the next morning in one of the guest rooms in her uncle's home. She got up and went down to the kitchen, where she found Greta at the table with a cup of coffee in her hands.
"Morning. There's coffee in the pot," Greta said.
"Thanks. No Klaus yet?" Elena asked as she went over to the coffee pot. She grabbed a cup and poured herself some coffee. Klaus hadn't returned the night before, and she didn't see any sign of him now. She wanted to get started with this as soon as possible. They only had five days until the full moon. She would still need the full moon to break the spell, and they were not waiting another month. There was no way her father wouldn't find her in month. Even five days might be pushing it.
"No. He probably spent the night unleashing his rage. Finding out Katerina Petrova is dead really pissed him off. It's nothing compared to the rage we'll see when he finds out you're not a doppelganger though," Greta said.
"Eh, I'm not concerned about Klaus' rage. He'll get over it when he finds out there's another rage. I'm more concerned about my father's rage when he finds out what I did," Elena said. That was not going to be a pretty sight. She'd been lectured a few times, but she had yet to actually be punished by her father. She knew this was not going to go well.
"Yeah, I had a feeling your dad didn't know what you were up to," Greta said.
"Nope. I will definitely be grounded for the rest of my life," Elena said with a cringe.
"That will be a pretty long life. You do know you're immortal, right?" Greta asked.
"What? You can tell that just by sensing me?" Elena asked in disbelief.
Greta nodded. "Not a lot of witches would be able to tell, but I can, and my father probably could too. That's probably another reason why he tried to have Klaus kill you."
"Great. So, when my dad grounds me for eternity, I could actually live out that sentence. Wait, does this mean the magic can't overwhelm me if the spell is too powerful?" Elena asked.
"Not necessarily. Every being has something that can kill them, and magic can usually kill anything. Immortal just means you can't be killed by disease or old age. You probably couldn't be killed by human weapons either, but I don't suggest testing that theory," Greta said.
"That means I'm still going to need help with the spell," Elena said before walking over and sitting down across from Greta.
Greta nodded. "You're taking this news well."
Elena snorted. "After finding out that you were born a witch and a vampire, it gets harder for things to faze you."
"You know, I hope you know what you're doing with this spell. Using that much power when you're so new to magic will be dangerous. You've got a lot of potential. I'd hate to see the magic engulf you before you can reach that potential," Greta said honestly. She liked Elena, and she would like to see what the girl could do with the power she wielded. This spell could make or break her.
"That's why I need the others," Elena said. Before anything else could be said, she heard movement outside. It had to be Klaus.
Sure enough, the door opened moments later revealing Klaus still in Alaric's body. "Greta, I hope there wasn't any Troub…"
Elena got a good look at her uncle's shocked face, realizing he'd sensed the non-human parts of her. "Okay, before you throw another hissy fit…"
"What did you do?!" Klaus snarled. Practically the moment he walked in, he sensed that she wasn't human. The thing was, he didn't sense that she'd been turned exactly, but there was definitely vampire in her. He couldn't use her anymore.
"Well, I guess it's too late for that," Elena said before taking a sip of her coffee.
Klaus glared dangerously at Greta. "You weren't supposed to let her out of your sight!"
"And I didn't. She was like this when you brought her here," Greta said.
"That's impossible! I would've noticed!" Klaus said angrily.
"I have a bracelet that prevents that. Sorry. I never was your doppelganger," Elena said.
Klaus growled before stalking towards her and roughly pulling her up by the arm. "Maybe I'll just kill you anyway."
Elena raised her free hand and made a gesture with it, causing Klaus to let her go and grab his head in agony. She'd mastered aneurisms about a week ago. Her father started teaching her how to do it right after she gained her powers. He had her practice on him. She hated doing it, but he insisted that she needed to be able to defend herself against an Original in case something like this happened. She just hoped that what she was doing didn't do any damage to Alaric.
"Damn! Even I can't do that," Greta said as she watched the scene in disbelief. She could give most vampires aneurisms, but she couldn't do it to someone like Klaus.
Klaus fell to the floor and continued to hold his head and scream. "Enough!"
Elena released him from the pain. She didn't want to hurt him, but it was the only way to make him stop and listen. "As you can see, I could've easily gotten away from you yesterday. I chose not to. I'm not a doppelganger, Klaus, but that doesn't mean I can't help you."
Klaus pulled himself up off the ground and glared at the girl. "What are you? No vampire keeps witch powers."
"They do it they're born with both," Elena said.
"Do you take me for a fool? That's not possible!" Klaus snarled.
"Magic makes it possible. You can clearly see that I'm both a witch and a vampire. Of course, I can give you another demonstration if you want," Elena said with a smirk.
"Do not threaten me! You may have taken me by surprise, but you have no idea what you're dealing with!" Klaus warned.
Elena rolled her eyes. "Okay, let's save the threats for another time, shall we? I said that I can help you. I can't be a sacrifice for you, but I can break your curse."
"Really? How's that?"
"There's another spell. In fact, it's much more effective than the one you wanted to use, and I'm willing to do it on one condition," Elena said.
Klaus laughed. "You've spent too much time with my brother, sweetheart. I don't negotiate."
"You will if you want your curse removed," Elena countered.
"Assuming there is another spell, what's to stop me from killing you and having Greta do it?" Klaus asked.
"Sorry, I can't," Greta told him.
"Only a witch from my bloodline can perform the spell," Elena told him.
Klaus laughed. "Well, that's awfully convenient, isn't it?"
"Of course, it is. It was by design. My ancestor created the spell in case it was necessary, but she didn't want it used by just anyone," Elena said. That much was true. Esther didn't want just anyone using it. In fact, she probably didn't want anyone at all using it. She probably created it just in case at some point she had use for Klaus' werewolf abilities.
"What's your condition?" Klaus asked. He still wasn't sure he even believed this spell existed, but it was his only hope, and it couldn't hurt to find out what the girl wanted.
"You leave Ric's body and you let him leave here alive. Compel him to forget if you need to, but you don't kill him," Elena said firmly. She realized not long after leaving with Klaus that there was a good chance her teacher would not survive all of this without her help. The fact that she was the only one that could relieve Klaus of his curse gave her leverage.
Klaus thought about it for a minute. "Fine, but if I find out you're playing me, I will slaughter him and everyone else you love while you watch!"
Elena rolled her eyes. "Do you even stop with the theatrics? We have a deal then?" she asked as she extended her hand to him.
Klaus looked at her for a minute before slowly smirking and taking her hand.
