Chapter 7. Exploring the tutorial floor and Lin Lu's lucky chance
Time passed as Lin Yang continued tirelessly practicing the basic grips, stances and maneuvers with a spear. He would carefully study the jade slip and then Instructor Long would patiently correct his posture and point out any minute mistakes.
From time to time Lin Yang would take a break to rest, to restore his strength and true essence. He would close his eyes and use a special breathing technique. What he practiced with was the True Essence Chaos Formula, a special method of circulating true essence derived from the Chaotic Virtues Combat Meridians' manual.
This formula was far better at utilizing true essence to temper the body, forge the bones and restore true essence than the heart mantra that Lin Yang used in the past. Once major comprehension of this formula is attained, the resulting strength and durability would be greatly improved to a level surpassing those of the same realm!
It was surprisingly easy for Lin Yang to grasp this method and train with great efficiency. As it appeared, it was thanks to the memories of the expert from the soul fragment he devoured.
The expert's experience and comprehension had greatly benefited Lin Yang's training. The circulating method of the cultivation technique had been deeply ingrained into the senior's soul. All Lin Yang needed to do was use his body to recollect them.
Although according to Littlefox his cultivation rising inside the Magic Sphere had no effect on his body in the outside world, the True Essence Chaos Formula was still a good way for him to restore his strength and fatigue.
As Lin Yang felt his throat dry up from the strenuous practice, he excused himself and walked out of the training hall to take a look around and explore the place as Littlefox previously advised.
The area outside of the gymnasium was a peaceful mountain with bushes, bamboo grooves and colorful fruit trees. The heaven and earth origin energy was very rich. It was clear that the tutorial floor imitated a spiritual mountain.
Right outside the building where he trained, Lin Yang found a clear stream with fresh mountain spring water. After checking that it was safe, he directly drank from it to quench his thirst.
The water from the spring was slightly cool and sweet. It was pleasant to drink and contained rich heaven and earth energy. In fact, just this water from a spring was several times better than the bitter medicinal tea that Lin Yang sparingly drank in the outside world!
Lin Yang honestly wished that he could snatch as much as possible of this water and bring it out of the Magic Sphere. Unfortunately, according to Littlefox the entire tutorial floor was completely virtual, so it was impossible to bring anything out of it.
Next to the spring at an artificially built mountain, there were also many trees with various fruits growing on top of them. There were trees with hard fruits that resembled apples, ones that resembled plump peaches, there were grapes, cherries, apricots and other fruits.
As Lin Yang bit into the soft flesh of the peach-like fruit, he felt incredibly pure and rich heaven and earth energy seep into his body and restore his strength. The fruit was sweet and incredibly delicious. As he continued eating even his mental fatigue was gradually fading away.
It was obvious that it was a spiritual fruit of the highest quality!
After eating a couple spiritual fruits to replace the breakfast that he skipped, Lin Yang continued exploring the place, this time visiting the two other buildings that were there.
In the building adjacent to the gymnasium there was a small lavatory and another large bamboo building that contained several bedrooms, a storeroom and a living room. The bedrooms were all very simple, only containing basic furniture and a mattress.
Next to the other building there was also a decently sized lake with a flowing waterfall and a stone bed. The water in the lake was incredibly clear and Lin Yang could see plump colorful and harmless-looking fishes swimming at the bottom.
The lake was right outside of the other bamboo building, so one could directly walk out of the living room onto a porch and then onto the lake area to take a bath.
All of this made it the perfect secluded place to train in peace. Although some of the structures looked ordinary, it still resembled an Immortal's retreat.
After exploring the nearby area, Lin Yang returned to the training building and resumed practicing his spear techniques.
Inside the training hall there were two clocks mounted on a wall, as well as a large hourglass.
The first clock seemed static and Lin Yang assumed that it showed the time of the outside world.
Another clock reflected the position of the artificial sun outside, so it seemed to show the current time inside the Magic Sphere. It was based on the time that he first came here.
As for the hourglass, its grains were gradually falling down and counting down the time until Lin Yang would get ejected from the Magic Sphere's space.
It really was quite convenient.
As the time continued counting down, Lin Yang continued diligently and excitedly practicing his spear fundamentals, repeating Instructor Long's drills for hundreds and thousands of times over and over again.
Drinking sweet mountain spring water, eating spiritual fruits and diligently practicing under the guidance of a master. Hours upon hours passed like this as Lin Yang continued tirelessly mastering his basics of the spear.
A martial artist at the First Stage of Body Transformation still needs to sleep and eat like an ordinary person, but thanks to the True Essence Chaos Formula and the support of spiritual fruits and the springs water, Lin Yang made the most of his limited time inside the tutorial floor and practiced for the entire 24 hours like a machine, only taking short breaks in between to meditate or to eat some fresh fruits.
He was unaware that as the hours were passing by, a pair of large bright eyes carefully observed him at all times, hidden inside a spatial crack. This pair of eyes belonged to Littlefox.
She has been secretly watching Lin Yang the entire time that he trained his spear with the old monk. At that time Littlefox's feelings and thoughts were incredibly turbulent. While she was not-so-secretly happy to have met Lin Yang, there was also a feeling of loss that was eating her from the inside.
Lin Yang could never imagine what she was thinking of.
As Littlefox quietly looked at Lin Yang tirelessly practicing his spear for hours without end, the little spirit artifact girl inwardly sighed, 'So this is Master when he was young… But Master, why do you have to…'
Littlefox secretly sobbed as she thought of her First Master.
…
As the time in the hour glass ran out, Lin Yang suddenly felt his vision going dark. As he looked around him, he saw that he was back in his room and it was still morning.
While he practiced with the spear inside the Pocket Hunting Dimension for 24 hours, on the outside world it should have appeared as if he was simply sitting still for 1,5 minutes.
Thanks to the spiritual fruits that Lin Yang ate inside the Magic Sphere, he felt that after this training maraton his mind was not tired and he felt as if he woke up not long ago.
Because of the excitement of the situation, Lin Yang didn't feel much hunger upon going out. He felt enthusiastic about officially beginning to practice with the Chaotic Virtues Combat Meridians, but at that time he recalled the storage space and the green jade slip that he received, so he wanted to test it out.
Without a coincidence, Lin Yang managed to pull out a green jade slip from the storage space of the Magic Sphere. It contained the recorded version of Chaotic Virtues Combat Meridians just as it should.
Following that Lin Yang attempted to store various times inside the special space and also succeeded, at the time of using up a bit of his true essence and soul force each item.
The Magic Sphere's storage space was just like a storage treasure like the spatial ring! Unfortunately as Lin Yang was retrieving items from inside the storage space, it was fairly visible that they were being shot out from the mark on his forehead. It really was something that he could not allow others to see, so it might only serve as his secret storage space.
After storing the green jade sleep, Lin Yang hesitated for a while and then quickly took care of his basic hygiene and then ran down to the kitchen to have a scrumptious breakfast to fuel his upcoming training in the real world.
As a respected and important employee of the Grand Clarity Pavilion he was able to eat as much of the left-over meals as he wanted, so he piled up his plate with left-overs and dug in.
As he finally returned to his room, began to finally practice with the Chaotic Virtues Combat Meridians.
However, not long after Lin Yang began his practice there was a knock on the door to his room.
"Big brother, it's Lin Lu," a young girl's voice sounded out.
Lin Yang opened his eyes. He knew that Lin Lu visited him, so that they would jog to the Zhou mountains together to train.
Although Lin Yang worked and stayed in the Grand Clarity Pavilion, Lin Lu actually received accommodation in the Lin family branch of Sky Fortune City. As Lin Yang came to the Sky Fortune City he didn't receive this kind of reception from the Lin family and had to take care of his own accommodation, but he didn't care.
Upon hearing Lin Lu's voice, a smile appeared on Lin Yang's face as he stood up and said, "I'll open the door, just give me a moment."
After Lin Lu entered, Lin Yang immediately closed and locked the door.
Lin Lu looked at Lin Yang with a slightly surprised expression after seeing him lock the door. In fact, just the fact of a young girl entering a boy's room could be considered inappropriate in this world, but Lin Yang and her were always very close, so it was nothing special to her.
After closing the doors, Lin Yang looked at Lin Lu and smiled. He walked over closer and quietly told her, "It's good that you're here. I have something for you."
Lin Lu raised her eyebrows in surprise.
Lin Yang didn't delay. He pulled out a green jade slip from within his chest pocket and gave it p to Lin Lu, saying, "Little Lu, this is for you."
"This…? Big brother, what is it?" Lin Lu asked as she received the jade slip, her large dark eyes blinking.
"Check and see," Lin Yang vaguely said.
After hearing this reply, Lin Lu didn't ask any more and after a moment sunk her consciousness into the jade slip.
She examined the contents for a few minutes and was soon shocked. With her knowledge and intelligence she immediately understood that the cultivation method engraved on this jade slip was incomparably powerful and precious. And, Lin Yang wanted to give it to her?
Lin Lu looked at Lin Yang with an expression of shock. She said, "Big brother, what is this cultivation technique? Where did you get it?"
Lin Yang plaintly smiled and replied, "I was lucky enough to acquire it. You can cultivate it. It is much better than what you're practicing right now."
Lin Lu was taken aback. Of course this cultivation technique was much better. She asked, "Big brother, what about you?"
"I don't need this jade slip. You can practice with it," Lin Yang said.
"Ah, you don't need it?"
Lin Yang slowly nodded. "Yes. Let's just say that I have another one."
"I see…" Lin Lu softly said. She still found it hard to believe that Lin Yang was able to acquire such unimaginably high-level cultivation techniques.
Lin Lu suddenly felt that her big brother was filled with more mysteries than she previously thought.
Lin Lu was about to ask if there are no problems with this jade slip, for example, if it was stolen, but then she realized that Lin Yang wouldn't give it to her like this with no warning if there was a problem with it. She only looked at him and whispered, "Lin Yang, thank you."
Lin Yang smiled. "You are welcome."
Lin Lu looked away with a rosy expression. Lin Yang's soft and kind eyes as he looked at her caused her to feel embarrassed.
Lin Yang lowered his voice and then whispered, "However, you need to keep in mind this cultivation technique is incredibly valuable. You must keep this jade slip a complete secret and not reveal it to anyone. If anyone finds out about it, it might bring a calamity on both of us."
Lin Lu looked back at Lin Yang seriously and nodded. "I know brother, I won't share it with anyone."
Lin Yang hummed. Lin Lu was even willing to leave the kingdom with him even though she would lose the support of the Lin family, so there was no need to talk about trust between them. He knew that she would never willingly betray him and cared about him.
Since he didn't need the jade slip of the Chaotic Virtues Combat Meridians, while training inside the Magic Sphere's space he already decided to give it to Lin Lu.
One of the fallouts of the Martial World novel that Lin Yang didn't like was that all of the Protagonist's friends and lovers that were extreme geniuses and powerhouses when first introduced were all left in the dust by him in the blink of an eye, quickly becoming completely insignificant.
Although given the massive scale of the universe and the quadrillions trillions of lives living in it it was only natural that the talent of the martial arts of the lower realm that were introduced would be far inferior to the extreme geniuses of the Divine Realm, but Lin Ming was still somehow able to transform from shit-tier to god-tier. When he started he had no talent at all and only a firm will, soaring into heaven thanks to his Protagonist's luck.
At the same time Lin Ming's lovers were forced to practice with trash-tier cultivation techniques of the lower realm that doomed them to a shitty foundation and a future life of mediocrity, while because of the plot the Protagonist was unable to share his own technique with them. Because of this a proud daughter of heaven of the lower realm would only be a bottom-tier outer court disciple in the higher realm's sect with a duty of taking care of spiritual vegetables or throwing out shit from the spirit beasts.
Putting aside the matter of talent, which can always be increased with bloodlines, pills and special medicines, simply practicing with a high-level cultivation technique might be something that can completely transform someone's life.
Lin Yang wasn't an altruist that would share his techniques just with anyone out of good will, but Lin Lu was different. He had grown up with her while taking care of her and wholeheartedly trusted her. He wanted her to also become stronger. He knew she would not be ungrateful.
In addition, although the Chaotic Virtues Combat Meridians was a very powerful foundational technique and was quite a treasure, it was not some kind of divine artifact like the Magic Cube or a heaven-shaking cultivation technique that can propel someone to the peak of martial arts and inevitably bring a calamity upon him once it was revealed to the world at one point in the far future. It only allowed a martial artist to reach the early Pulse Condensation Stage.
Fortunately the jade slip also looked like any other ordinary green jade slip, so no one could guess its value just from looking at it.
Lin Yang then continued, "I'm borrowing you this jade slip for now, but when you finish cultivating it, I might ask you back for it."
Lin Lu's eyes slightly widened. When she finished cultivating it she would already reach the Pulse Condensation Stage, so it made no difference to her. In truth, originally with her talent and the old cultivation technique, she would only be able to reach the Pulse Condensation Stage in her forties or fifties…
Lin Lu nodded and said, "If brother needs this jade slip back, you only need to tell Lu."
"Mhm, you can get more familiar with the cultivation technique right now. I will now go out and do some shopping with Zhu Yan's money." Lin Yang smiled.
Lin Lu hesitated for a moment, before she nodded.
Lin Yang faintly nodded back, picked up his backpack, took out some of his money and left.
Once Lin Yang left the room, Lin Lu took off her shoes, sat down on top of Lin Yang's bed and began to study the cultivation technique inside the jade slip.
The more she studied the contents, the more shocked she was. It really was an incomparably valuable cultivation technique! Yet, Lin Yang trusted her with it and gave it to her to practice with.
Lin Lu brought the jade slip close to her bosom, her lips pursed as her eyes moistened. Although Lin Yang had never outwardly said that he liked her in a romantic sense, giving this jade slip to her and revealing some of his secrets was also a kind of commitment and a pledge. It meant a lot to her.
AN: This is a fanfiction in which the MC's lovers will grow alongside him, and especially Lin Lu.
