necklace that belonged to his sister Luthien with no hesitation. The conversation resumes saying.
"Where is the wedding to take place cousin?" Faron
"Since I know that the time for your to return to the Mountain hasn't come the wedding can happen here." Dain
Faron breaths a sigh of relief, and Lord Elrond says.
"Now we must discuss the traditions of our peoples pertaining to marriage." Elrond
"Agreed." Dain
They discuss these traditions for the rest of the meeting, and once an agreement has been reached the meeting is ended.
By the time the courtship has ended Charlotte has returned from Númenor just in time for the wedding. Dain walks Faron down the Isle, and Faron sees Legolas standing there dressed in the finest clothes Faron has ever seen with a mithril circlet on his head. Charlotte watches Faron stand before Elrond as he performs the ceremony as discussed. During the ceremony Their silver rings are exchanged for gold, and the hand fasting happens now along with the Elven marriage blessing. The Dwarven aspects of the ceremony take place, and then the marriage feast begins as is customary to both peoples. After the Feast Faron and Legolas retire to their room where they are bound together in the sight of Iluvatar. The next morning it is decided that they will spend some time in Imladris before deciding what to do next when the time comes to leave. As the days go by Faron finds herself to be thinking about her family more and more. Legolas tries to help Faron with the deep sadness that is increasingly flooding her heart, but the grief and despair refuse to leave Faron. Until one day Faron is at the training area, practising her archery when she first met the lad. Faron has missed the target yet again, which is making her feel more frustrated by the minute. The last time Faron had missed anything was when Kili scared away the deer on their first hunt.
Faron lowers her bow, and closes her eyes as more memories of her family once again plague her thoughts. A voice breaks through her thoughts saying.
"You are sad." ?
Faron snaps her eyes open, and looks around to see a child of Man a boy to be more precise, ten maybe eleven years of age with black shaggy hair. He wore a brown tunic with black pants. Faron didn't recognize the boy at all. He just looked at her waiting to hear her reply. Faron inclined her head once to confirm his statement, and he asks as he walks closer.
"Why are you sad?" boy
Faron looks at the boy, who reminds Faron of Kili when he was that age. Faron sighs, and says.
"That is what heartache tends to do, young one. Make you sad." Faron
"Who did you lose?" boy
Faron turns to him, and says.
"What makes you think I have lost someone?" Faron
"You look like my mama when she thinks of my papa. My papa died when I was small." boy
Faron's top lip quirks up slightly in amusement, and she says.
"What is your name?" Faron
"Estel." Estel
The name clicks in Faron's head. He is the child Elrond has taken in with his mother. Aragorn, son of Arathorn, Isildur's heir. Of course, the child knows none of this, and would not until he became of age. The conversation continues saying.
"Oh, of course. Elrond told me of a child of Man staying here. How old are you?" Faron
"I will be twelve in the summer." Estel
Faron smiles, and says while sitting on the ground.
"You are very smart for your age." Faron
Estel walks over, and sits beside Faron, and says.
"What's your name?" Estel
"I am Faron." Faron
He looks at Faron in confusion for a moment before saying.
"Faron...weren't you with the Dwarves last year?" Estel
"You knew we were here?" Faron
He nods, and says.
"I wanted to meet you all but my mama wouldn't allow me to." Estel
Faron nods in acknowledgement before saying.
"Yes. I was here with them." Faron
"Did you lose any of them?" Estel
With some hesitation Faron answers saying.
"I did my father and brothers." Faron
Estel goes quiet for a moment, and says.
"What happened to them?" Estel
Faron turns away looking in the direction of Erebor, and says.
"There was a battle...a Battle of Five Armies. I fought side by side with my kin...all three were struck down...and then I recently lost my aunt, who died of a broken heart for her brother and sons." Faron
Estel looks at Faron for a moment before he reaches forward, and takes Faron's hand in his. Faron looks to him to see him have a sad expression on his little face, and he says.
"When I would be sad for my papa, mama would always tell me, that the ones we love, will never truly leave us. As long as we keep them in our thoughts, our prayers and our hearts, They will never be too far from us." Estel
Faron smiles at him, and says.
"Your mama sounds like a very wise woman." Faron
Estel says while beaming with pride.
"Oh, she is! Very wise!" Estel
Faron chuckles, and says.
"Thank you for coming to speak with me, Estel. I am very grateful for the company." Faron
Estel smiles at Faron, and says.
"It's okay. I'm just happy I could finally meet you." Estel
Faron smiles as she ruffles his hair before standing, bow in hand to try again. Knoching an arrow to the bow, Faron pulls the string, eyes the target for a few moments before letting go. The arrow soars through the air and hits the center of the target, making Faron smile. Who knew how much talking to a child would help ones emotions. Estel who had been watching says.
"Wow..." the boy breaths in awe, and says.
"Can you teach me how to do that?" Estel
"Of course, but I think you should use one of the small training bows." Faron
Faron replies as she picks up a small bow along with matching arrows. Charlotte leaves Imladris as Faron takes over as his weapons tutor teaching him everything she knows about how to fight.
Charlotte has been spending her time since leaving Imladris with her family in Lothlorien as well as in Númenor with her friends. Aragorn now a man of forty approaches Charlotte on the request of Gandalf who wishes for the Sea Children to reconcile with the race of Men. Aragorn stands before Charlotte, and says.
"Gandalf tells me that you can take me to Númenor." Aragorn
"I can, but why would I do that?" Charlotte
"Gandalf wishes for me to bring peace between Men and Sea Children." Aragorn
"I can tell you right now that this is highly unlikely to succeed." Charlotte
"Why is that My Lady?" Aragorn
"Many of the Sea Children have been mistreated by Man. That is why we as a rule only deal with Elves and Dwarves." Charlotte
"Have you been so mistreated?" Aragorn
"Thankfully not, but Men are considered dangerous and untrustworthy. So If I were to agree to this scheme of Gandalf's how do you plan to overcome this obstacle." Charlotte
"I am planning on going to Númenor, and dwelling among the Sea Children until they realize that Men are not a threat to them." Aragorn
"That is an extremely aggressive approach to take in regards to opening relations with a cautious and some what closed off people. Especially considering the incident between a fisherman and Narissa a high ranking Noble." Charlotte
"What happened?" Aragorn
"During the courtship of Maglor son of Feanor and Narissa. Narissa was swimming in the sea while Maglor was playing happy music on his harp. As this was happening a fisherman harpoons Narissa staining the sea red with blood Maglor picks Narissa up out of the water, and shows the fisherman what he has done. The fisherman is beside himself, and loans his cart to an angry Maglor who then takes Narissa to Imladris so Lord Elrond can save her life. Lindir later returned the cart to the fisherman." Charlotte
"Lord Elrond is a Master Healer so I have no doubt that Lady Narissa survived, but what strikes me is that the reaction of the fisherman indicates that he had no idea the horrible thing that he had done. This kind of ignorance is very dangerous." Aragorn
"What do you think should be done about this?" Charlotte
"The first step of this endevor is to make sure that people living in fishing villages are aware that there are people living in the sea, and then talks need to be had between the Sea Children and the fishermen." Aragorn
"That is a much better idea than Man going anywhere near Númenor. You go speak with the villagers, and I will go speak with the Queen of Númenor. We'll meet up in the village where the accident took place." Charlotte
Aragorn nods, and walks away while Charlotte goes to Númenor. Aragorn and Charlotte work together, and manage to open diplomatic relations between Men Sea Children. This arrangement has brought peace and security to both peoples which lasts to this day fifty-nine years later.
Charlotte watches the Fellowship enter Lothlorien and silently giggles at Gimli, but sighs when she hears her father say.
"The Dwarf breaths so loud that we could have shot him in the dark." Haldir
Charlotte notices the similarity between her father and her friend, and wonders why the elleth that has been her friend since she was a child resembles her father so much. As they are walking to an outpost near Caras Galadhon the Elves keep trying to get close to Faron but Faron keeps avoiding them. The greet each other, and when Legolas says the name Haldir Faron looks to her husband with a look of vague familiarity on her face. Gimli gets frustrated, and says.
"So much for the legendary courtesy of the Elves! Speak words we can also understand!" Gimli
Charlotte sees the dark look that her father is giving Gimli, and sighs when he says.
"We have not had dealings with the Dwarves since the Dark Days." Haldir
"And you know what this Dwarf says to that? Ishkhaqwi ai durugnul!" Gimli
Aragorn grabs his shoulder, and says.
"That was not so courteous." Aragorn
Charlotte watches as her father says after glancing at Frodo.
"You bring great evil with you. You can go no further." Haldir
Upon hearing this Aragorn begins trying to convince Haldir to allow them to continue on. Charlotte watches as Faron and Gimli speak before Haldir finally allows them entry. A caravan of Elves lead them along a ridge, and through the golden woods. We come to the end of the end of the high ridge and look out. A great glade of trees rises above us.
"Caras Galadhon the heart of Elvendom on earth. Realm of Celeborn and of Galadriel Lady of Light." Haldir
As we are walking the path ways everything including the Elves seems to glow blue, and the Fellowship is in awe of all that they are seeing. When they reach the Palace in the trees Haldir and Charlotte step aside as a glowing couple descends to meet us, and then Aragorn and Faron touch their foreheads in a respectful greeting. As the light dims the lord and lady Celeborn and Galadriel halt. Celeborn begins to speak saying.
"The enemy knows you have entered here. What hope you had in secrecy is now gone. Twelve there are here yet thirteen there were set out from Rivendell. Tell me where is Gandalf? For I much desire to speak with him...I can no longer see him from afar." Celeborn
"Gandalf the Grey did not pass the borders of this land. He has fallen into shadow." Galadriel
"He was taken by both Shadow and Flame: a Balrog of Morgoth. For we went needlessly into the net of Moria." Legolas
"Needless were none of the deeds of Gandalf in life. We do not yet know his whole purpose. Do not let the great emptiness of Khazad-dum fill your hearts Gimli son of Gloin, and Faron Daughter of Thorin. For the world has grown full of peril, and in all lands love is now mingled with grief." Galadriel
"What becomes of this Fellowship? Without Gandalf hope is lost." Celeborn
"The quest stands on the edge of a knife. Stray but a little and it will fail to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the company is true. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Go now and rest for you are weary with sorrow and much toil. Tonight you will sleep in peace." Galadriel
Charlotte watches her friend be led away with the rest of the Fellowship, and her father comes up to her, and says.
"You know her Charlotte?" Haldir
"Yes father she is Faron the daughter of my friend Thorin son of Thrain also known as Oakenshield. I have known Faron since she was an elfling. Why do you ask?" Charlotte
"She is my sister, but she doesn't remember me or our brothers." Haldir
"I see. Well I must be going. I hope everything goes well for you father." Charlotte
"I hope so as well Charlotte." Haldir
Charlotte nods, and leaves Haldir to think.
Charlotte gets to the tree where the Fellowship is resting just as Faron is sitting down to eat. As soon as Faron has finished eating Gimli says.
"Now that we have time you need to have a talk with Legolas." Gimli
"Right. Legolas can we talk in private?" Faron
"Sure follow me." Legolas
Faron and Legolas walk out of hearing distance of the Fellowship, and Legolas says.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" Legolas
"Legolas you know how before you left Rivendell to travel with the Dunedain we were intimate?" Faron
"Yes I do. Why?" Legolas
"Well it turns out that we created an elfling that night, but by the time I found out you were already gone so I had no way of telling you." Faron
"What happened next?" Legolas
"I continued to dwell in Rivendell for the next year, and once our son was born I returned to Erebor after a sufficient amount of rest. Our son I I have been living in Erebor ever since." Faron
"I'm a father...What is our son's name?" Legolas
"Kiron son of Faron daughter of Thorin son of Thrain son of Thror. I hope you are not offended by his lineage being traced through his maternal line." Faron
"No I am not offended, but why not trace his lineage through his paternal line?" Legolas
"His lineage is traced through my line, because you are Legolas son of Thranduil, and neither I nor my kin have forgiven Thranduil for his cold compassionless deeds after the Sacking of Erebor." Faron
