Last time on Dragon Ball Z: Ayote, the fight against Raditz began after taking him to another island so Goku and Ayote's friends wouldn't get hurt. Though Raditz had the initial advantage, Ayote's involvement quickly turned the tides, pushing Raditz back. The Saiyan gets beaten to the point of barely being able to stand, causing him to seeth in anger. As a last ditch effort to tip the scales to his favor, he spots Gohan hiding in the brushes and calls for a projected moon to transform him and Ayote into Oozaru. Though Great Ape Ayote had control over her form, Gohan did not, resulting in a fight between two titans while Goku was left on his own against Raditz. Can he pull off a victory? And can Ayote calm Gohan down?

At Kame House, the sweeping mouth beam from Great Ape Gohan is seen by the humans on the island as Krillin and Roshi sense the sudden increase in Gohan and Ayote's power. Unfortunately, unlike in canon, Krillin has never seen an Oozaru transformation.

Krillin: "Wh-What's going on? I feel Gohan and Ayote's energy but… They seem completely out of whack!"

Roshi: "I've felt this energy before… This is Ayote's Great Ape form… When she looks at a full moon, she can turn into a large, destructive monkey."

Bulma: "Wait… That happened to Goku too when he was a kid! Back at Pilaf's Castle!"

Krillin: "Grr… We need to do something… I can't just sit by while our friends are fighting for their lives!"

Roshi: "What can you do? You know you're not strong enough."

Krillin: "That's no excuse for being a coward though!"

Krillin charges energy before flying off towards the fight, much to Roshi's frustration.

Roshi: "Wait! Come back! Darn it… Why won't people listen to reason!?"

Bulma looks at Roshi as the old man collapses on the grass, sighing in defeat. She then looked back towards where Krillin flew off to, hoping he would be okay.

The battle on the larger island continues as Gohan and Ayote fought each other in their Great Ape forms. Ayote was restraining herself from hurting Gohan, but the uncontrollable younger Saiyan was slamming fists at Ayote's guard before slamming a drop kick on her, sending her flying back.

Ayote: "Grr… Damn it, Gohan! Get a hold of yourself! It's me! Your mom!"

Ayote's calls fell on deaf ears as she is met with a mouth blast, sending her into the ocean shallows with a hard splash. As she collects herself, Gohan leaps at her slams her fists into her face, breaking her snout as he put his full weight on her to pin her down. Raditz could only chuckle at this show, crossing his arms with delight.

Raditz: "Even if Ayote did learn to control her Great Ape form, her soft heart won't let her attack her child too much. And that leaves you and me, Kakarot."

Goku: "Turn them back, Raditz! Right now!"

Raditz: "Hah! I couldn't even if I could! The only way to turn them back is to cut off their tails!"

A deliberate half truth by Raditz; the transformation is temporary, though for how long is determined by how long the Saiyans were exposed to the full moon's effects. Goku gritted his teeth before looking ready to intervene himself. But if he tried, Raditz may get away and cause more trouble for them all. With no other choice, he gets into a fighting pose and stares down Raditz.

Goku: "Fine. My wife gave you enough chances to change and you squandered all of them. I'll show you what happens when you mess with my family!"

Goku starts to charge up power, causing Raditz's scouter to come to life and register a sudden increase in his little brother's power.

Raditz: "Wh-What!? N-Nine… 974!? A power level that high!? Where were you hiding that much power!?"

Rather than answer, Goku takes Raditz's moment of weakness to attack, slamming a knee to the older Saiyan's stomach, causing him to cough out blood and spit. Raditz jumps back as he tries to catch his breath.

Raditz's Thoughts: "D-Damn it… Kakarot has grown this strong!? If he wasn't my enemy, I'd be proud of him… But because of that last assault, I'm left winded… I need to beat him no matter what!"

Goku closes the distance as he speeds towards his brother, aiming to headbutt him. However, he was caught in another energy blast that stuns him by Raditz.

Raditz: "I refuse to fall to the likes of you, Kakarot! I am the older brother and the strongest! You are nothing to me, you hear!?"

Raditz then fires off a straight Double Sunday, pushing Goku back from the blast, as well as ripping away some of his gi top from that blast, exposing the under layer. However, Goku simply glares at Raditz before vanishing, closing the distance and slamming an elbow to Raditz's face, then slamming a knee to his chin.

Goku: "Ka… Me…"

Raditz tries to retaliate with a kick to the side, but Goku blocks the retaliation. Goku then sends Raditz flying back with a hard kick before vanishing, appearing over his brother as he drop kicks him into the ground. Raditz tries to get up, gritting his teeth as he attempts to slam a back kick on Goku; the younger Saiyan backflips away.

Goku: "Ha… Me…"

Raditz's scouter beeped to life in order to warn Raditz that Goku's energy was rising, but it then turned off completely, the damage it sustained being too much. The warning was taken as Raditz charged up energy into hands.

Raditz: "This is where you die, Kakarot!"

Goku cupped his hands back, charging up his attack, putting his all into it as he glares at his enemy.

Goku: "HAAAAA!"

Both warriors launch their attacks; Goku, a Super Kamehameha, and Raditz, a Weekend. Both attacks clash as neither side give an inch in the struggle.

Raditz: "Rrrgh! Why!? How!? How are you holding me back!?"

Goku: "You may be my older brother, but I have something you'll never have! A family worth protecting! HAAAAA!"

Goku pushes his power to its limit with that scream, causing his Kamehameha to completely overpower Raditz's attack, much to his horror. Raditz is engulfed by the attack as a large portion of the island is completely destroyed. As the ocean readjusts to the sudden change in the island, Goku collapses to his back, panting hard as he exhausted all of his energy in that beam struggle.

Voice: "Goku!"

Krillin skids to a stop, running up to his friend. As he got close, a sudden shake on the island caused him to trip as Ayote and Gohan continued their fight in the background.

Goku: "K-Krillin… I-I'm alright…"

Krillin: "You sure? You look pretty beaten up."

Goku: "Y-Yeah… Go help A-Ayote…"

Krillin looked at the fight between the two King Kong like beasts as Ayote tossed Gohan across the island and slammed him to the surface. But then Gohan shot a mouth blast at her, knocking her back quite a distance.

Ayote's Thoughts: "What's going on…? Gohan's energy is rising higher and higher as the fight goes on… At this rate…"

Ayote then sees Krillin fly up to her as she was thinking to herself.

Krillin: "A-Ayote? Are you…?"

Ayote: "I'm in control… We need to keep Gohan busy a little longer. If I can grab his tail, I can rip it off. I just need an opening."

Krillin: "I-I might have one. A little trick from Tien Shinhan… When I say "Now!", close your eyes."

Ayote nods before rushing back at Gohan, slamming an elbow on Gohan's stomach, causing him some mild irritation as he retaliates with a sledgehammer. Ayote plummets to the ground on her stomach, grunting in pain from the hit. Gohan then leaps over her and slamming his feet on her back, causing Ayote to scream out, feeling something in her back break. Gohan jumps again, and again, slamming on Ayote repeatedly. Krillin quickly flies in, firing ki blasts at the monkey kid to get his attention.

Krillin: "Over here, you oversized ape!"

Gohan turns his attention to Krillin and lunges at him, forcing him to move as he was nearly hit by a punch from the kid. Once he was close enough…

Krillin: "Now! Solar Flare!"

Krillin unleashes a bright flash of light by placing his hands to the sides of his head, causing Gohan to go blind. A weakened Ayote took the opportunity and grabbed Gohan by the tail and quickly kicked him forward, snapping off his tail in an otherwise graphic manner. As Gohan was kicked forward, Krillin avoided the giant by swerving around him quickly; Gohan soon plummets forward as his form turns back into his normal self, though now lacking clothes. Ayote pants as she coughs loudly, her own transformation ending shortly after Gohan's ends.

Krillin: "Ayote!"

Krillin flies down to Ayote, seeing her pretty messed up from the fight, bloodied and bruised from Gohan's more berserk movements. Ayote tried to keep standing, but it was soon clear that she took way too much damage trying to not hurt Gohan. Krillin catches her, carrying her over his shoulder.

Ayote: "I-I'm… gonna need… a Senzu Bean…"

Krillin takes Ayote, then an unconscious Gohan to where Goku was as the former monk sighs.

Krillin: "Boy, I'm glad I showed up when I did… Who knows what would've happened… But I'm sorry for not showing up sooner…"

Goku: "It's o-okay, Krillin… It… It worked out…"

As there was a sense of calm, the heroes then hear the sound of something coming out of the water. Krillin, Goku, and Ayote turn to see… Raditz, still alive, though with his armor completely shattered off and his tail drooping behind him. He was far more bloodied than Ayote and burnt heavily from the pressure of the Kamehameha. Krillin, though scared, stood on the defensive.

Raditz: "D… Damn you… K-Kakarot… I… I…"

Raditz then collapses forward, passing out from his injuries. Krillin glares at the Saiyan for a few seconds longer.

Krillin: "...I should take the opportunity. If I don't, then he could kill us."

Ayote: "K… Krillin… I… I can't stop you… I really c-can't… But…"

Krillin: "I know, I know… He's your family. But he's evil."

Ayote was admittedly conflicted. Raditz was a truly horrible person for everything he did today. But there was a reaction to Ayote's statements that did shake Raditz, even a little bit. He didn't want to stay with Vegeta, this much she knew.

Ayote: "Please… Krillin… One more chance… One more chance to convince Raditz… If he refuses… then I'll kill him myself… I won't let anyone be killed by him… I promise that with my life…"

Krillin continued to glare at the unmoving body of Raditz before clenching a hand, before calming himself, then turning to Ayote with a serious expression.

Krillin: "Alright. I trust you, Ayote… Just…"

Ayote: "I know… Now please… Bean us, please…"

A little while later, Raditz awakens, still in a lot of pain, but feeling a bit better after that slight rest. But as his senses returned to him, he feels… something around his wrists. In fact he couldn't move them. And he was leaning against a tree. He then looked around until his eyes spot Ayote and Kakarot looking down at him, Ayote having her arms crossed.

Raditz: "Ayote!? Kakarot!? Wh-What's going on!?"

Goku: "You're still alive because Ayote wanted you to be. You don't have a space pod to exploit and Gohan is with our friends, meaning it's just you and us."

Raditz: "Tch… So has this planet truly made you so weak that you don't even finish off your opponents?"

Ayote: "Is it weakness though, Raditz? You've seen Goku's strength first hand."

Raditz: "That was a fluke! He won't get lucky twice!"

Ayote rolls her eyes before walking up to her brother-in-law… and slamming a foot onto Raditz's stomach, causing him to vomit a mix of blood and chunks.

Ayote: "I can just let my Saiyan instincts out right now and just kill you; give you the most worthless death to a Saiyan so cowardly that you had to use a child to try and beat us. Our child at that. Or… I can let you live so you can maybe find a better life to lead. One from those Saiyan elite trash."

Raditz: "Y-You… You think… it's… easy…? You think… I haven't tried…?"

Ayote: "No, truth be told. I don't think you have. From fighting you, I know what kind of Saiyan you are. You have no real pride. You have strength, but you are a coward too."

Raditz: "I do have my pride! …That's all I have left… Our mother and father are dead… Our planet is gone… And Nappa and Vegeta treat me like garbage… Without my pride… then I'm a shell of a Saiyan."

Ayote: "Then help us, Raditz."

Raditz looks up to Ayote, confused.

Raditz: "Why… Why are you so insistent that I join you?"

Ayote: "Think about it, Raditz. You still have a brother. You have a sister-in-law in me. A nephew too. And you could have a new home and potentially others who would be more willing to treat you as a person. A man. You don't have to keep hiding from them anymore."

Raditz gave it some long, genuine thought now. All this time, he's been trying to kill his brother and his mate, Ayote has been giving him an out from being under Nappa and Vegeta. There was a tinge of guilt in his consciousness; one that did sway him. With a soft look, he looks away from Ayote.

Raditz: "...Untie me…"

Ayote: "Not until you promise us that you won't cause trouble. You'll be better for it in the long run."

Raditz: "...How do you know I won't just… turn on you…?"

Ayote: "I don't. In truth, I don't trust you at all. But I'd rather see you live a better life than a life either dead by us, dead by Vegeta, or dead by Frieza. That's all you'll be if you do choose to turn on us."

Raditz didn't argue that point; in fact, living did sound better than being dead. And if Ayote and Goku were this strong, then a year's training may increase their power even more… Maybe enough to face Vegeta…

Raditz: "...Fine… I promise I won't cause trouble for any of you… I'll… I'll work with you in defeating Vegeta…"

Ayote accepts that, untying Raditz. The oldest Saiyan rubs his wrists as he slowly picks himself up. But as he did, Ayote touches his back, giving him some of her energy.

Ayote: "I gave you some of my energy. That should keep you from dying from your injuries. I gave you another chance; so don't squander it. And do know this… If you do cause trouble, I will kill you myself."

Ayote gives Raditz a very cruel glare as she said that last part before walking back to Goku. The two nod to each other before they both flew off, leaving Raditz to stew in his second chance at staying in the world of the living and on Ayote's words. In a way, he hoped he made the right call…

In the skies heading back to Kame House, Goku turns to Ayote, giving her a serious look.

Goku: "Ayote. Are you sure about this?"

Ayote: "Not fully, but you know my stance on family."

Goku: "But I also know your stance on evildoers."

Ayote: "King Piccolo was pure evil; no amount of second chances was ever going to change that. I won't pretend like my decision was the best, but I had to at least try. We'll see what happens when we face off against Vegeta…"

A voice then calls out to them telepathically, causing both Ayote and Goku to stop their flying as they listened. It was the voice of Kami.

Kami: "Goku. Ayote. Please come to the Lookout. It is of the utmost importance."

The duo look at each other before speeding off towards Kami's Lookout, going the opposite direction of Kame House.

At the Lookout, the elder Namekian greets Goku and Ayote fondly, though a bit critically in regards to Ayote's decision.

Kami: "Welcome, my pupils. And thank you for stopping that menace from causing any further harm."

Goku: "Oh well… We all did our part."

Goku says cheerfully, laughing a bit.

Kami: "Indeed… But Ayote. I must ask… Are you certain it was wise to keep that fiend alive? I sense a deep evil and treachery in his heart…"

Ayote: "We'll see, Kami-sama. If he does start causing trouble, I'll see to it myself. But I know you didn't ask us here just for me to reaffirm my stance."

Kami: "Quick to get to the point I see… Very well. My students, you two have performed admirably… Thus, I have come to present you both an opportunity to train in a plain higher than even here."

Goku: "Really? What do you mean?"

Kami: "In Other World, I have prepared for a meeting with a godly being by the name of King Kai; an eccentric, but brilliant martial arts trainer who lives in Other World. Very few have ever been granted an audience with him, but those that have have been granted strength and techniques beyond imagination. In the face of a possible invasion, I saw it best to arrange this trial, however, King Yemma will only allow one living mortal to enter Other World as per his rules."

Ayote: "Only one of us, huh…? Then… I pass."

Kami: "Hm?"

Ayote: "Sorry, but I prefer to train with Goku. He and I are a team and if I trained without him then… I'd feel disconnected. Strength is nice, but…"

Kami: "...I see… And you, Goku?"

Goku: "Well… I would like to meet King Kai, but… Ayote is right. We are a team. So I'll pass as well."

Ayote: "However, rather than waste the opportunity, why not one of our other friends?"

Kami: "Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, and Chi-Chi?"

Ayote: "Yeah. They aren't slacking off, except for maybe Yamcha… But… well… There's no nice way of saying this, but… Me and Goku are quite ahead of them despite us training with them here before the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. It might just be because of our Saiyan biology, but none of our human friends are that close to us in terms of strength. And if Nappa and Vegeta are truly that far above Raditz then…"

Kami thinks on this, seeing what Ayote means; her and Goku's natural strength are well beyond any human on Earth and it may be because of their Saiyan biology. With this, Kami sighs softly.

Kami: "Very well… I will give you twenty four hours to decide on who will be training with King Kai… I do trust you'll be training for the Saiyans though."

Goku: "Yep! We've not stopped training since our marriage and we aren't stopping now!"

Ayote: "...There was that… brief period when I was pregnant…"

Ayote simply shrugs since she was being ignored it seemed.

Kami: "Alright. I'll be here to greet whomever you choose."

The duo of Saiyans nod as they take off back to Kame House. As they descend, Ayote had some slight worry as to their training; it may not be the worst idea to add in something beyond weights to their training. So while deciding on who should take the training from King Kai, Ayote began to plan out how to spend their year long training for the Saiyans. As one chapter ends, another begins… Not just for Goku and Ayote, but for the entire Dragon Team. Their next big battle was soon to come…
