Adam was practically dragged by Capri off of the ship and with the crowd towards the auditorium. Aries had already caused a scene and made it clear he was associated with the two of them, this made Capri very uncomfortable. The three of them all had nearly impossible to hide horns on their heads making them easy targets for those who despised Faunus, and now they had an even bigger target on their backs.
"I can't believe he did that; we hadn't even arrived at the Academy and he already picked a fight with someone from a prominent family here at Vale… Mom and Dad would be so upset." She held onto Adam's arm as if afraid if she let him go she'd be dragged off, or perhaps she was trying to keep him close to stop him from starting a fight like Aries had. "You can't tell them, they already did so much to get us here, they'd be devastated to find out."
Adam gave a snort, their 'parents' didn't exist, and their creators were cruel monsters that threatened them with death. Pathetic. That's all he could think about when it came to Capri, if it wasn't for her inhuman strength, he would have thought she was useless. "Capri, right?" He said the name feeling uncertain, something he hadn't felt in some time.
Suddenly her eyes turned cold, glistening on the sides as if she was about to cry. "You… bastard… You're going to pretend like you don't know me?!" She whisper yelled at him, her voice trembling.
Adam's mouth dropped open, he had only met her for a few minutes previously, of course he didn't know her. Suddenly his scroll chimed in his pocket. Pulling it out, and making Capri even more upset as she began to squeeze the arm she was clinging to much more tightly while pouting.
The message on the scroll was clearly a short dossier of the three of them;
"Adam Szarvak – Eldest adopted brother, held prisoner in an SDC mine with Capri and Aries, branded on left pectoral over the heart with the SDC logo, rescued by White Fang team at age seven, adopted by Russet and Fusia Szarvak, no official academy training, passed special tests to join Beacon Academy. Adam Taurus is still alive in this world and will act as you did in your first life.
Capri Szarvak – Middle adopted sister, held prisoner alongside Adam and Aries, branded on left breast over heart with SDC logo, rescued alongside Adam and Aries, adopted by Russet and Fusia Szarvak, no official academy training. A kind hearted young woman, very sensitive to negativity, willing to compromise to avoid problems, tries to mediate and keep Aries in check, afraid of being abandoned. Semblance undiscovered.
Aries Szarvak – Youngest adopted brother, held prisoner alongside Adam and Capri, branded on left pectoral over heart with SDC logo, rescued alongside Adam and Aries, adopted by Russet and Fusia Szarvak, no official academy training. A brash young man joined the White Fang at age twelve, extremely violent, enjoys hurting those who show even the mildest of racism towards Faunus, outspoken. Semblance undiscovered.
Aries and Capri have no memories of their creation, us, or your true origin, they believe they are from the outskirts villages after escaping Atlas mines."
Clearly they were watching him and knew he wasn't sure what was going on with Capri's attitude and actions. Clearly Capri was his little sister, and Aries was supposed to be his little brother, though they were all approximately the same age as they joined Beacon Academy in the same year. "Aries was just standing up for himself before." Adam said with a grunt, his eyes beginning to scan the crowd. Blake should be here somewhere, she had to be, the traitorous murdering bitch. She killed him once; he wouldn't give her the chance to do it a second time. No, this time he'd catch her unaware and end her life before she knew what was happening…
A moment later there was an explosion, many people looked over at the cause and some even ducked thinking they were under attack. Instead at the site of the explosion was a diminutive young girl with black and red hair, a red cloak, and a black and red outfit, much like Adam's old clothing. Berating her was one of the objects of Adam's ire, a Schee, Weiss fucking Schee. Adam dragged Capri over, despite her whining protests about approaching an obvious fight.
"Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?" Weiss shouted at the younger girl who was the apparent cause of the explosion.
"Well… I… I…" The other girl tried to speak but was cut off by Weiss.
"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know! We're here to fight monsters, so... watch where you're going!"
The younger girl had clearly reached her limit even before Adam arrived at his rapid pace, slowed by Capri's attempts to keep him from approaching. "Hey, I said I was sorry, princess!"
"Princess is close enough. This is the Heiress Weiss Schnee." He paused just to get some satisfaction as the Schnee's smug face cracked into a smirk. "The bitchy heiress to the Slaver Dust Company, biggest slavery ring in the Kingdoms, torturing, branding, and enslaving Faunus so they can turn a quick Lien." Adam practically spat these words causing Capri's eyes to go wide as she reached up to try and cover his mouth before he could continue to antagonize one of the most well-known girls at their new Academy.
Another girl had walked over and looked shocked at his statement, he knew exactly who she was too. Blake Belladonna stood planted where she was with the others, she seemed to recognize him as well, though her brain was likely trying to connect how he could be here. "Adam?"
"Blake." He replied simply, his anger in his chest flaring at her presence, he should kill her, but he had noticed something amiss some time ago. He, Capri, and Aries didn't have their weapons like the other students seem to. As he went to speak again Capri elbowed him so roughly that he actually was cut off.
"I'm sorry for my brother!" She bowed her head quickly. "Him and our other brother are big fans of Ghira, and you look like his daughter. They had images of his family at home…" The mention of home seemed to cause Capri to freeze up again, clearly something had happened to their hometown that Adam didn't know about.
The entire group seemed to be unsure of what to do next, but suddenly Weiss stamped her feet several times before turning and walking away, her assistants gathering up the dropped items and going after her. Blake and Adam seemed to be having a staredown, neither of them moving but it was obvious that Blake was pinned in place by fear, Adam was trying to think of what to do. In front of him was the traitor that killed him, the one he had chased halfway across the world in his first life to try and kill after she had betrayed the White Fang, thwarted his plans, and joined hands with the Humans… but now the anger felt hollow. The Blake in front of him seemed like a scared child, more so than he remembered her ever showing before.
At this point the girl in red and black spoke up. "Ruby!"
"Excuse me?" Blake and Adam said at the same time, breaking their staring contest to snap their heads to look at the younger girl.
"Well it was kind of awkward, and everyone else had said a name… I just wanted to say one too, but I don't know your names… so… I just… kind of… said mine." Towards the end of her statement her voice got quieter and quieter as she was obviously embarrassed.
"Capri!" Another voice chirped in, Capri jumped forwards and wrapped Ruby in a quick hug. "You know their names… my grumpy big brother is Adam and the other girl is…"
"Not who you think. But my name is Blake Belladonna." A terrible lie, how could she claim to have the exact same name as the person Adam thought she was but was somehow not the same person. Even Ruby gave her the side eye at the statement but none of them said about it.
"We have to go find our brother, hopefully Professor Goodwitch has released him." Capri released Ruby and went back to grab Adam's arm, physically dragging him away from the obvious confrontation he was thinking about forcing with Blake. Blake seemingly had a similar idea and took off in a quick walk in another direction. Capri saw Ruby drop to the ground as she looked back, and she teared up but couldn't go back, dragging Adam towards the auditorium once again. Hopefully they could make it without any further incidents.
Aries was led to see Professor Ozpin by Professor Goodwitch, rapidly and without any chance to try and escape. Then again, she already knew his name and face so trying to flee would be pointless. The school was much larger than he had expected, then again, he had never been to any of the major Kingdoms except for Atlas, and that was from the point of view from the mines near the city so it didn't count.
Passing into the auditorium they went backstage where Professor Ozpin was speaking with another Professor, a disheveled looking man who was babbling faster than Aries thought would be possible for a person.
"Ah, challenges! The crucible from which true greatness emerges, wouldn't you agree? And with you at the helm, Professor, I have every confidence they will rise to the occasion." The other man said, rapidly and without pausing for a single breath.
"Your faith is most reassuring, Doctor. We both know the road ahead will be fraught with peril." The two of them looked up at the sound of Professor Goodwitch's shoes and the second man suddenly took a sip from the thermos he was holding before turning and walking away so fast he might as well have been sprinting. "Trouble already Glynda?"
"I wouldn't be here if there hadn't been," Professor Goodwitch sighed, her tone heavy with concern as she began to recount the troubling incident. "As the ships landed, there was an obvious commotion on one of them. When I investigated, I found Mister Szarvak embattled by four other students, though I must say, he held the clear advantage. Two of his opponents had already sustained broken noses, and he seemed poised to inflict further harm. I intervened, separating them and arranging for the injured to receive medical attention. However, Mister Szarvak showed no remorse for his actions and even appeared to take pleasure in the violence... Ozpin, are you certain it was prudent to admit this student? No transcripts, no discernible past..."
"Glynda," Professor Ozpin responded, his tone measured yet resolute, "I understand your concerns, and they are not without merit. However, every student who walks through the doors of Beacon Academy deserves a chance to prove themselves, regardless of their past or lack thereof." He paused, his gaze thoughtful as he continued, "While Mister Szarvak's actions are troubling, they also present an opportunity for growth and guidance. Perhaps he lacks the guidance and discipline necessary to channel his abilities properly. It is our duty as educators to provide that guidance and help him realize his potential." Professor Ozpin continued after giving a small nod, perhaps to himself or to Professor Goodwitch, Aries couldn't tell. "We will keep a close eye on him, of course. But let us not discount the possibility of redemption and transformation. After all, Beacon Academy exists not only to train warriors but to shape leaders who can inspire change in the world." Ozpin took a sip from his coffee mug before giving another nod. "You may go now Mister Szarvak."
Aries didn't hesitate to make a break for it, he turned and left the backstage area as quickly as he could without breaking into an actual run. He wasn't afraid of them, but he was uncomfortable in their presence something about Professor Ozpin reminded him of… something unpleasant. The back of his neck prickled at Ozpin's presence, and he wanted to escape, his whole person felt dangerous.
In the auditorium he saw that there were hundreds of students, they couldn't all be first years like himself, could they? There were so many here and even more streaming in, there was more than their hometown had before… He blinked a few times before jumping down from the stage and tried to blend into the crowd, he would love to get into another fight, but there were too many Professors here, and he already had detention, which he wasn't sure how he would attend since classes hadn't begun yet. "Capri's going to be so upset… Maybe I should avoid her until tonight." It was then he realized something else, he hadn't washed yet, a large number of students were staring at him.
"Shit…" He ran from the main auditorium, pulling his shirt up to cover his face, after the fight he had been so proud of the blood but now he was to conspicuous he wouldn't be able to hide. Ducking into a bathroom he went to the nearest sink and began to scrub his face, the water in the sink a pink color as he got more and more of the dried blood from his face.
"Hello, excuse me." A woman's voice came from behind and Aries jumped. Turning around he came face to face with a tall girl with red hair and green eyes. "Are you alright?" She had a concerned and slightly confused look on her face as she asked.
"Uh… um… yes. I'm alright… why?" Aries asked, very concerned about the girl being so close, and in the same restroom as him.
"Well, you had a lot of blood on your face when you came in… not to mention this is the women's restroom." She sounded genuinely concerned for him, believing he might have been hurt or chased into the wrong bathroom. Aries guessed she hadn't been on the same ship him and his siblings had been on or else she would have known about his fight with the other boys.
Then it struck him, he was in the bathroom only for girls and he froze, his face turned red again, but with his own blood causing the discoloration. "Oh, uh… yeah… um… wrong turn. New place you know… signs are different." He went to leave quickly, not bothering to even dry his face off before he made for the door.
"Alright, as long as you are okay!" She called after him, a hand raised in a sort of wave that he didn't see as he was too busy rushing away. Twice now he had embarrassed himself, in front of his older siblings and now in front of a girl he didn't know, he felt his face was going to explode from being so embarrassed. Taking off running full speed out of the hallway, not paying attention to where he was going he found himself lost in short order.
"Where the fuck am I?" Aries looked around, he didn't recognize anything, he wasn't sure just how far he had run in his blind need to get away from the girl in the bathroom. He didn't see anyone else either, causing him to sigh loudly almost missing the sound of people coming around the corner.
"Y-You think there might be a directory? Maybe a food court? Some sort of recognizable landmark? Is, uh... Is that a 'no'?" A young man's voice came, he seemed nervous.
A giggling laugh came next, a girl's voice. "That's a no." They spotted him as soon as he spotted them, though Aries was not exactly trying to hide from anyone, just the red head from before. "Hey! Do you know how to get to the auditorium?" The small girl shouted over to him, even though they were close enough he could hear them fine at normal volume.
Aries shook his head. "No." He grunted, seeing them closely they were humans, were they like the ones on the ship before?
"Oh, well... want to look for it with us?" The girl beamed. "Three heads are better than one, besides, his mom says, 'Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet.'"
The blonde boy seemed to be embarrassed that she used that line on someone else 'for' him, his shoulders dropped and his head snapped to stare at the ground. "Why'd you have to go and say it like that..." He muttered to himself.
"I'm Ruby!" She paused for a moment as if she just realized something, she was suddenly in front of him, looking at his face very closely. "Hey, you look familiar, have we met before?"
Aries stepped back slightly, she wasn't hostile but her energy was too much for the young man. "No, I don't think so... maybe we were on the same ship... I remember him, he threw up all over the place." Deflection, that was his only option, there was no way they had met before, so she must have seen his fight on the ship. His forehead itched, not unpleasantly but at the memory of the connection with the fragile faces of those who thought themselves untouchable.
"Hey! Motion sickness is more common than people think!" This seems to have at least gotten the other boy's attention, but the younger girl in front of him seemed to be staring into his soul with those coin like eyes. Did she witness the fight? Or maybe she saw him get off the ship doused in blood and grinning madly. Sometimes he wished he could be patient like his older siblings, but his fuse was so short it was practically non-existent.
"You fought those other students!" There it was, she knew his face and his deeds already. "You remind me of my sister Yang... you were all like 'POW! CA-CHA! POW POW!' while they were like 'AHHH! Noooo! HELP!" Her explanation of the fight made him blink a few times, she didn't think he was just a violent Faunus? "Oh... um... what did they do to make you so mad?"
"They were making fun of my sister, asking..." His teeth suddenly were grinding... just the thought of repeating it made him so angry he wanted to find them and break something else on their bodies, maybe their legs. A hand was on his arm, it was the boy, he had approached.
"It's alright, let's just find the Auditorium, yeah?" Despite his awkwardness he seemed to show some tact, noticing the question had upset Aries. "Any idea which way that is?" And he ruined any positive opinion Aries was beginning to form about him in the very next breath.
Yes, Aries is regretting his actions, not because he hurt people but because other students will think about him and that fight, he's a young man, insecure in almost everything, and lashes out violently because he doesn't know how else to react. I'm sure there are some readers who have had similar thoughts, doing something you don't regret at the time, but then after maybe even five or tent minutes you are thinking to yourself 'I shouldn't have done that... at least not so publicly'. I will try and keep the canon characters similar to their personalities in the canon story, though I may make some minor alterations as characters will act differently because of who they end up interacting with, and honestly people will act differently day to day. Not everyone is the same all the time.
