CHAPTER 7
Marion stayed on top of me, I had no one to protect me, if she went out on the street, he would try to grab me saying that I was his property, his father had bought me... So, when I was fifteen years old, I decided to stay hidden at home, my mother found this relationship strange but agreed with my father that he was a great catch and that everyone's lives would improve with my marriage and so she was also in favor of them. But even at home without hiding anything, I needed to think and find a way to escape that situation before it was too late. You know Elizabeth, I had no friends, I lived for my family and for Noah, I knew almost nothing about a man and woman relationship, but Marion scared me, he gave me the creeps. My father changed the documents and on a certain day I was supposed to marry Marion. After receiving the letter, Noah realized that something was wrong because he never left me, he said he felt all my sadness when he read the letter, my words had so much pain in them that Noah said his heart almost stopped when he saw the marks of tears on the paper, so he ran out of Hope Valley and ran to our town, he got there it was three days before my wedding, he couldn't see me my mother wouldn't let him in our house, so I ran out the window that afternoon and when we found Noah we talked and saw that everything was a setup by my father and Marion's family. So, we took the only solution at the time, we eloped and got married in the neighboring town. So my father lost his supreme power as a father over me, he even tried but Noah invoked the law as my husband and asked for his power as a husband, and so he gave me protected, that's when we came here because Noah needed to end the contract with the mining company and if he tried to end the contract he could be arrested we had to spend at least two years here to fulfill the contract. I was the third woman to live here in this town, that's why Noah taught me how to shoot so I could protect myself from the bad men who lived here.
I am telling you all this Elizabeth, so that you understand that you are not the first nor the last woman to go through this, sometimes the path seems dark and dead end, but we have to sit down, talk to God and ask for Let him help us find the best solution, after all, they say that God closes a door but always opens a window. Elizabeth listened to all that, seeing her whole life and its history passing through her mind, knowing that Abigail also went through all of this and overcame it and was still happy with Noah, that made the machine that existed in her head start working, making the wheels of her mind fabricating ideas that would help her at this moment, she wasn't going to marry Charles and that was it. And once that was decided, no one was going to change Elizabeth's mind.
