Meet the Edgertons
Warning: Nothing, just some very cheesy pickup lines.
A/N: Eyo what's uppppp?! I'm just as surprised as you guys are at my frequent update schedule for this story, lmaooo. I am treating this like how I treat my other series "To Win His Heart", aka writing whenever it hits and it seems like this one is going strong, hope it stays that way! Also, I didn't start this expecting to give Don another person who has a crush on him, but this is where the story wanted to go so I had to follow it. So I hope you guys are going to have some fun with the shitty attempts at flirtation because I was screaming when I wrote these. That's all from me, have a nice day!
Don was so close to screaming it was almost unreal.
After the conversation he had with Ian (and the subsequent teasing), he and the team managed to uncover some of the shady dealings that their suspect has had in the past. Realizing that he's going to have to get to the bottom of those as well, he decided to call up the LAPD for more information. It was just his luck that the damn bastard that he was fighting with earlier would be the investigator of the cases. He just hoped that the man cooled off a bit since the shootout because Don didn't think he could keep his own cool.
It would be undignified for him to start a fistfight in the middle of the office. That was more of Coop's style, or Ian's whenever Coop is around...they both do NOT get along.
"You sure you want to do this now?" Colby asked, eyeing him, sympathy written across his face. He was the only one who was there to see how bad it was.
Don rubbed his temples as he flipped another sheet of paper, sighing. "As much as I'd like to put this off, I can't. We need to get this man off the streets as fast as possible."
"He's right," David said, waving a sheet of paper around. "I mean there wasn't a crime that this man didn't commit. Robbery, assault, stalking, and now he's added murder into the list."
"Let's just hope he doesn't go any further" Don muttered, shaking his head.
"I'll try and look into the guy's family history again, see what makes him tick" Megan spoke up, turning to the computer beside her.
"You do that" Don nodded, "David, can you get me more information on the crimes this man has committed?"
"Will do Don" he answered as he took his phone and walked out, probably to make a few phone calls.
"Colby, try to find his list of associates. Find out if he has someone that he's currently in contact with."
"Alright."
Don heard the elevator ding and looked up, seeing a familiar face walk out. "And I have a jackass to deal with" he muttered as he got up, fixing his tie. Don walked out of the war room, bracing himself. "Detective Blake" Don said, smiling politely, "thanks for coming so quickly". He held out his hand, expecting the man to shake it roughly. To his surprise though, the taller man turned around and beamed at him, grasping his hand warmly.
"Ah…Special Agent Eppes" he smiled, "it's good to see you. I must say, you look better now than you did earlier."
"...thanks?" This can't be the same guy. Where was the smug smile and shitty personality? Was this really the same guy who called him "tiny for a figure of authority" a few hours ago before Don threw him to the ground (admittedly it was to save his life, but it was still satisfying to do). What the hell happened?
"I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot" the man said, apologetic. "My co-workers have told me that I can sometimes be a bit too cocky."
A BIT?! The man might need new co-workers if that's how they're going to frame him. Don had to bite his tongue to keep several opinions at bay. "Ah…I see. Well it's no harm done" he shrugged as the man let go of his hand.
"In fact, I feel so bad about what I said, I brought you something to make up for it". That caused Don to tilt his head to the side in confusion, one eyebrow raised. It better be my case files he thought as the man reached into his bag. Unfortunately, it was not. It was something much worse.
A small bouquet of red roses filled his view.
You've got to be kidding me…Don knew he was dense (as Ian and Billy love to remind him), but he wasn't this dense. He could hear people screeching to a halt in the background as they stared at them with one person running off. Probably to replace the numbers with a zero on the scoreboard that says "1 day since Don accidentally attracted someone" and also "4 days since Don attracted an obnoxious jackass" (he pretended the latter one doesn't exist). A part of him wonders why he keeps attracting the overly confident cocky bastards who usually don't have the skills to back up the talk (that and criminals). Another part of him wants to punch this man in the face and walk away.
Sadly, that's not really an option for him at this moment. He still needed the cooperation. So he decided to suck it up and looked back at the detective. The man still beamed at him, his attempt at a charming smile falling flat as soon as Don saw the same arrogant gleam in his eye. Don had a feeling that this detective Blake was the type who doesn't get rejected. "Pretty flowers for a pretty agent" he grinned.
Don tried not to throw up at that line.
"Sorry, but I'm not interested" he replied coolly, "I already have someone" two people actually and they will kill you if they find out. He won't say boyfriend because that would almost certainly motivate the man even more. He had a feeling that his guy would see Don's status of "currently in a relationship" as a challenge, especially if it was with men.
"Oh c'mon" the man urged, forcefully shoving the roses in Don's hand, "I highly doubt that your girlfriend can give you what I can". Aaaaaand there it is, there's the thinly veiled arrogance. He was wondering where that was.
"And what is that? A headache?" he grumbled. Just because he couldn't physically beat the life out of the man, doesn't mean that he couldn't be a bit of an ass. Ian and Coop would be proud (right after they bury this man's body of course).
"If that's what it takes for you to keep me on your mind, then I'll be your worst migraine" the man grinned, acting like he was epitome of smoothness with that line.
Nevermind…I'm going to punch this man even if it started World War Three.
He was about to solidly give the man a piece of his mind (and his fist) but then someone tapped him on the shoulder. "Don" Megan's calm voice spoke up, snapping him out of his annoyance. He turned around and saw her looking at him, her eyes warning him to calm down.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Colby found something". Megan then turned to look at Detective Blake as if she noticed him for the first time. "I'm guessing that you're the detective from the LAPD". She held her hand out and the man shook it, less warmly then he did earlier with Don, solidifying his suspicion.
"Yes, I'm Detective Blake" he said coolly, looking annoyed.
"Megan Reeves" she replied, just as calmly. She turned to Don to raise an eyebrow and he shrugged, the silent conversation flowing between them. "You should take a look at this right now, you too Detective Blake."
"Alright" Don nodded. He glanced at the detective, glaring lightly "Are you going to be a problem?"
"No Agent Eppes" he grinned, telling Don that he is absolutely going to be a problem. Don could only shake his head lightly at that, glaring at the man as he did his best to look innocent.
"Alright then, let's see what Colby has for us" he said before turning around, nodding at Megan to guide them. As soon as he did that, he heard a sharp inhale from the man behind him.
"Jackpot" the man whispered, thinking no one could hear him. Don clenched his fist even more, feeling a vein start to pop.
Maybe I should deck him. Considering what Ian and Coop would've done, Don figured that whatever he did would be an act of mercy. Ian CAN'T know about this…
Ever…
A/N: Poor Don can't catch a break huh...
Also if anyone, like Don, was wondering if I have any reasons for making assholes or criminals fall for/go after him, I do! Other than the fact that I'm sadistic and love to torment this man (and it's a lot of fun), it's also because these people see Don as a challenge. So sorry Donnie, you won't be escaping these situations anytime soon (at least you have a reasonable excuse to punch them).
Also there is a small reference here but it's so minuscule I know no one will notice this. It's a reference/callback to an episode.
