"Poppy!" Sora cried, running up to where an unconscious Poppy is lying, covered in spider webs. Surrounding her, are purple striped spiders with bright green tufts on Troll hair on their heads. Their eyes are also glittery. "How d'ya think they see with the glitter in their eyes?" Goofy asked.
"We can think about that later, Goofy," Sora replied. "We have to save Poppy first!"
Black hair extended from behind Sora, scooping up Poppy. "Huh?" Sora followed Poppy to see that Branch had come to her rescue, moving her away from the spiders, who just chomped down the second she moved.
"Branch?" the trio exclaimed in unison, shocked.
"I thought you weren't coming!" Sora exclaimed.
"I changed my mind," Branch replied. "Now stop asking me questions before I go back."
"Okay, okay!" Sora said. Branch jumped in front of Poppy and held out his hand. "We have to save her," Sora explained.
"Oh really?" Branch asked. "What makes you so sure?"
Sora stared at him, unamused. "Be ready," Branch said. "Here they come." He pulled a frying pan off of his bag. In doing so caused more Heartless to spawn, taking all of the forms from previous encounters. "What?" Sora whined. "They're back?!"
"What are those things?" Branch asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Those are Heartless. Or, 'those without hearts,'" Sora explained. "They are monsters spawned from-"
"the hearts left behind of those who were fromed in darkness!" Donald interrupted.
"I have no idea what you just said," Branch replied, "but there's no time for chit-chat."
"Right!" Sora's Keyblade formed in his hands. Donald and Goofy formed their weapons as well.
Branch threw his frying pan at one of the spiders in the middle, hitting it right between its four eyes. The spiders stared at each other in confusion, Branch seeming proud of himself, before the spiders growled at his attempt in harming them. Branch's ears went down a little as he sighed.
Branch threw his bag off, in front of Poppy, and streched his hair, using it like a whip to smack the spiders, and a few fuzzy Heartless, into a cave. Sora smacked a Soldier on top of its head, causing it to die. Donald used lightning, being catious not to set the large trees on fire, defeating others. Goofy covered Poppy as Heartless came in every direction.
The cave closed, then popped up out of the floor, but not until after Sora shoved some Heartless into it. A pair of eyes opened from the hill, looked down at Sora and Branch, who both flinched, then closed its eyes and went back to sleep, with its mouth closed.
Branch sighed of relief. "Branch!" Sora called. "Look out!" Branch jumped into the air, flipping, grabbed onto the closest branch of the tree, swung around, then smacked the Shadow with his hair. Sora finished it off with a single strike of his Keyblade.
"Hey! Nice moves!" Sora complimented. Branch just huffed. Goofy finished the last Heartless, a Flying Soldier, whose wings are made of fabric, then put his shield away. "I think that's the last of 'em!"
"Great!" Sora replied, his Keyblade vanishing.
"Poppy!" Branch cried. He ran to the princess, and put his ear on the spiderwebs. "Hang on, Poppy!" Branch said, ripping a thorn off a pointy bush. He cut the spiderwebs open and grabbed two blue fireflies off of the tree. He rubbed them together and pressed them against Poppy.
Her heart rate increased momentarily until Branch removed the bugs. She shot up. "Get back up again!" she sang. She looked at Branch, Donald, Goofy, and Sora. She smiled. "Branch! My man!"
"Like you were expecting me," Branch replied, rolling his eyes and putting the bugs down, who instantly ran away
"Well, yeah," she replied. "After the third Hug Time, I figured you would come help me!"
"Well, I guess we're fair. By that time, I figured you would be dead!"
"See, we're even now!" Poppy said, knudging him with her elbow. Branch put his bag back on. "Don't. Touch. Me."
"Rrrright," Poppy said, her smile fading. Poppy walked over to Sora, Donald and Goofy. "Glad to see you three could help Branch!"
"He did most of the work," Sora explained. "He shoved some spiders into a cave, which actually turned out to be a hungry hill!"
"Oh, way to go, Branch!" Poppy exclaimed.
Branch rolled his eyes and walked away. Poppy ran in front of him. "How did you know where to find me?" she asked.
"Just lead the way, Poppy, or you'll wish I left you to those spiders," Branch replied gravely.
"Yeesh," Sora said. "Looks like somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed today."
"Pfft, you wish," Branch replied.
