The next trip took a few weeks after the one with Rush. Mostly thanks to a few unexpected repairs that needed to be done. Ones that took Ash and Josh a bit longer than anticipated. Both were glad when it was done. Feeling they had accomplished something worthwhile. Josh a lot more than Ash if he were being entirely honest.
Thanks to not being around Ronald or any of the soldiers. Being around Eli was kind of a nice change of pace.
While Ralph and Oliver spent time working on Destiny's Garden. Ralph found it a whole lot more pleasing than Oliver could. As Oliver wasn't entirely comfortable with being around the humans that made fun of Ralph to be, difficult. A whole lot more than he initially anticipated it would be. But he did his best to ignore the uncomfortable feelings as he and his lover kept up a 'conversation' to distract them both. It was sort of working for a short while. Not as well as Ralph had hoped for but was grateful his attempts were somewhat doing the job.
When the time came for the next trip, North headed to the stones with Oliver and Ralph.
Ash stayed with Matthew as he watched them touch the stones. Everett decided to go along with them to see things for himself. His personal curiosity has gotten the better of him. As he wanted to see what his future self was like. Maybe see if his older self knew more about how the androids went back through time the way they did. Since none of them had seemingly gotten that for themselves during their visits. And he somewhat hoped that his older self would be allowed to tell them how they did it. That's if his older self knew at all. Since he wasn't entirely certain if the androids would divulge this information with him or not. Though, he felt that Ash would tell him if he knew anything about the travel to Destiny.
Which the little idiot didn't.
Soon as they touched the stones, he found himself in that room the androids described. The bodies that the androids were in were interesting. One was probably that annoying RK unit that interrogated him a few weeks ago. And a ginger haired one wearing a janitor's uniform. One that Ralph had described to him when they had come back. From that first time they used the stone without his or anyone else's permission. Well, no one that wasn't Matthew or Eli that is. Turning his head slightly he spotted a blonde woman in all white. Her hair was in a low ponytail, and she had a small dot on the side of her temple. One that was like the one that some of the androids back on the ship had. Unlike Oliver, Ash, and Markus. He raised an eyebrow as he asked,"Uh, North? Are you in that body?"
"Yeah, I'm in this body.",North confirmed. Looking at the nearest reflective object to see what she looks like. Her mouth tucked into a frown as she stared deep into her eyes. This wasn't what they had expected to happen. And that this person was someone that she probably knew better than the rest of them. Well, he thought that until Ralph stated,"North, you're in Ash's Mother's body."
"I wonder why she wanted to do this for?",he questioned. Something that Everett wanted to know for himself. And stood in place for a moment as he thought it over. Ash's Mother had probably done this to see her son. It was something that he felt most mothers would do if their child was in Ash's position and this was their only means of communication. Eli's mother would do it if she knew anything about his situation. She'd probably demand that they let her have a chance to see him. Softly, Everett answered,"I'm going to guess that she's doing this to see how her only son's doing on board Destiny."
"See how everyone's treating him and seeing how other androids are doing, too.",he added. Giving a shrug of his shoulder as he did so. It seemed to make the most sense in his book. That way she could tell her creator or whatever she considered that Elijah fellow what was going on, too. As Everett was sure that Elijah wanted to know how his creations were doing aboard Destiny. Oliver nodded his head in agreement with this. He pointed out,"That seems like the most likely thing. It's also probably why you're in Elijah's body."
Now that made Everett take pause for a moment as he stared at the android. Turning slightly, he caught sight of the body that he was in. Eyes widening at the body in front of him. This person was tall, lanky, and had very pale skin. Dark brown hair that was pulled into a high bun. And was wearing clothes that Eli would be comfortable wearing. Frowning deeply, as he muttered,"There had better be a good explanation for this."
"Yes, there is.",a familiar voice called out to him. Turning to the door, he spotted himself standing there. Wearing professional but casual clothes as he stood there. An older version of David standing to the right of him. Donning similar clothing to his older self. Older Everett answered,"I promised him a chance to see how Ash and the rest of the androids were doing."
"He also wanted to meet with Markus as he hadn't seen him in years.",Older Young added. Taking a few steps forwards as he did so. Holding out his hand for his younger self to shake as he did so. A tiny hint of a smile on his lips. Younger Everett took his hand as he nodded his head at this. It was something that he hadn't expected to happen but sort of welcomed it. Calmly, he asked,"Is this something that Rush wasn't allowed to tell me or did we just not tell him?"
"I thought we wouldn't be doing that anymore.",young Everett muttered. It was something that he felt they shouldn't be doing. Keeping things from each other. Older Everett shook his head at this. As if he were somewhat annoyed with his younger self. An action that even young Everett had found utterly annoying if he were being honest. It was no wonder that Telford was pissed off at him. Older Everett answered,"I kept it from him. I wasn't sure that he needed to know anything about Elijah or Chloe coming to see Destiny for themselves."
"At least not until they were already there.",he added. Something that sounded sort of fair in his mind. Though it still didn't sound all that wise. And it felt like this version of himself was still hiding something from him. Pulling his hand back, younger Everett asked,"Is there anything else that I should know about?"
"Anything you want to tell everyone here?",he added. Trying to make sure that the androids felt included in this conversation. The idea of leaving them out of it felt like a huge mistake. As they were starting to become a part of Destiny's crew. Whether he, his David, and his Rush liked it or not. And he was somewhat indifferent to the whole thing. They were decent workers. Though his Rush and David weren't interested in that. Rush a whole lot angrier at them than either him or David. Young sighed as he questioned,"We're not going to make this easy, are we?"
"When have we ever made anything easy for ourselves?",Everett fired back. Earning a laugh from the older version of David. A smirk crossed his face briefly before Older Everett turned to look at him. Then there was this strange smug look on his features. One that Everett remembered seeing more than once in their past. Something that used to annoy him but…wasn't this time around. Strangely he felt a little happy that he made David laugh. Ignoring this, his older self answered,"That's fair. I'm going to have to give us that."
"How much has Rush told you when he got back from the last trip?",Young demanded. It wasn't a lot. Aside from the fact that they should use the androids for the next supply run. Not really detailing much aside from the atmosphere not being good enough for humans to breathe. And that the androids would be perfectly safe on the nearby planet. Though he was more concerned about whether what they were bringing aboard was safe for human consumption or not. Younger Everett informed,"He told me to use the androids for our next supply run thanks to the environment not being safe for humans to safely traverse."
"You were going to send us to a planet not safe for humans without us telling any of us about it?",North demanded. Looking more than a little upset that Rush would keep this from them. Probably fearing what would happen to androids on the planet. Even if they would be 'safe' from breathing in something that they shouldn't. Who's to say there wasn't something that could still kill them on there? Or that the gravity was safe at all? David seemed a little more concerned about something else as he stared at his older self's head. Then he turned his gaze to younger Everett as he blurted out,"Did he mention anything about the gel creature that's on the planet?"
This question made his future self tense up for a few seconds before turning entirely to face David. Shoulders tensed as he did so. The older version of himself seemed to not want to tell any of them about this. Oliver and Ralph looked completely uncomfortable as they stared at each other. Then straight at older Everett's body. David took a step back as he put his hands up to protect himself. Younger Everett answered,"No, he didn't mention anything about a gel creature."
"What kind of gel creature are you talking about?",he demanded. Wanting to get to the bottom of this whole mystery. Fearing that Rush was sending the androids into some form of trap. Considering how he was treating them, he felt it was a possibility. Sure. The androids were plenty durable. He still feared what would happen to them. Such as being torn apart by some creature that was described as a gel creature. Vaguely reminding him of a movie that he heard about years ago. Something like 'The Blob' or something like that. David informed,"Its this creature that's about the size of an average shed and seems to be able to detect human body heat."
"The creature fed on quite a few people that we sent down to its planet for a supply run.",David continued. Ignoring that his Everett wasn't happy with him doing it. Even pushing his hand off him when he tried to silence him. Almost as if he were disgusted that his friend was allowing something like this to happen. Sneering slightly, he informed,"You got a whole lot of chemical burns from it but survived barely thanks to me and Markus saving your ass."
"Just because you decided to not tell him about this, Everett doesn't mean that I'm not going to.",he snapped at Everett. Who looked thoroughly disgusted with him for not keeping any of them in the loop. It was an issue they had had for years. Where they had a whole lot of people getting injured or a way worse than that. Killed. He wanted to break this god damned cycle. Finally fix everything that they had done wrong. Mostly stop people from getting killed. That was one thing that David had wanted more than anything in the world. Everett's older self snapped,"This will help us! Don't you get it? They won't send humans out with that lie."
"Everett, I love you. I really do. But that's by far the stupidest plan that you've come up with.",David grumbled. Rolling his eyes as he toyed with his own hair. It wasn't the wisest idea. Telling the truth about the gel creature would be the wisest plan in his mind. And he was surprised that he told Rush to lie about the whole thing. Setting his hands on his hips, he continued,"You know that. If you just told them that there's a creature that devours organic material, they wouldn't allow any human on board to leave the ship."
"I can't believe you're making me the voice of reason in all of this.",David muttered. Feeling extremely disappointed in his lover for this. As he felt Everett would learn from his younger self's actions already. After all, he had learned from his younger self's stupid actions. And outright disturbing ones. Turning to the younger Everett, he noticed that he was frozen in place. A look of confusion on his features as he stood there. It took him a second before he had realized what he had just said to the older Everett Young had probably freaked him out. Calmly, David instructed,"Everett, I'm going to need you to breathe for a second. Then I'll explain why I told your older self that I love him."
"Okay?",he questioned. The younger version of his lover nodded his head in agreement at this. Taking a few deep breaths as he did so. Nearly hyperventilating as he did so. Which was somewhat concerning to him but, it was somewhat of a start. Soon as he seemed calm enough to process what he was about to say, David explained,"Your future self and I are dating. We're also dating Rush believe it or not."
"…I'd really rather not believe that.",younger Everett admitted. Dragging a nearby chair from its table out a little bit before sitting down on it. Taking Elijah's glasses off to pinch the bridge of his nose and massage it slowly. This was way more information than he was anticipating on getting from this whole damned trip at all. And the only thing about this that wasn't entirely surprising was that Rush wasn't telling him the truth again. Though he was thoroughly annoyed with that. It was something that he could handle once back in his own time. Probably with a clearer head than he had at that moment. Gently, David pushed the other Everett away from him. Calmly, he asked,"Are you going to be, okay?"
"Yeah, I'm not sure that I'm going to be fine right now. Gimme a minute or two, okay?",Everett asked. It was the least that he could do for him. Give him a few minutes to wrap his head around what he has just been told. This wasn't easy for him to digest. While he tried to think about this, he noticed that the trio of androids weren't where they had been. Sitting up straight, he slipped the glasses back on his face as he muttered,"The androids left."
"Yes. Oliver and Ralph are taking North to see Lucy.",David explained. A little surprised that Ash wasn't with them for this trip. And that he allowed North to go in his place instead of Ralph. He would need to talk to Eli about that. Once he had the chance, that is. Eli couldn't always take a moment to talk to everyone when they needed him. His job as a professor was a lot more time consuming than he initially anticipated it would be. Gently rubbing Everett's shoulder, he continued,"I thought Ralph would be the one to stay back this time. Guess Eli remembered wrong."
"When did any of that relationship start?",Everett asked suddenly. Somewhat taking David off guard with it as he stared down at him. It was somewhat what he had expected. But in this context? Not so much. As he thought he would ask about the androids and North finally getting to see Lucy. Or even getting to know who the Hell Lucy was. As he didn't remember if he actively had heard about that android before or not. And he was damn sure that he didn't. David explained,"About a few years ago. We're still working out a few things. Like where we all sleep and all that Jazz."
"It's been a bit difficult to find a good bed that can have three grown men on it.",older Everett chimed in. Sounding a little less angry than he had been before. Though he didn't exactly look thrilled with this whole thing. The younger version of Everett couldn't exactly blame him. This whole visit had gotten outside of his control and three people left his sight. And David was more in control than either of them were.
Something that he normally would find infuriating if Telford wasn't being so calm.
There was something kind of off-putting about him being so calm. Then again, it was probably thanks to him remembering the past. Or at least partially remembering what the past was like. Twenty-seven years or so was a very long time to recall. If his mental math was right, that was how long it had been since then. Softly, David questioned,"Would you like to see Rush?"
"I think seeing him would make you feel a little less stressed.",David reasoned. Something that he hadn't entirely thought possible. Since, sure their relationship wasn't bad in the past they weren't best friends, they sort of only got along. Of course, David obviously knew this. Knew that maybe this version of Everett wouldn't want to see him. But figured it was worth the gamble to find out. As he might not remember, if they saw future version of Rush or not. Though he clearly wanted to and felt it would be the best course of action. If there were any good actions in this in the smallest bit or not. So, the 'present' Young answered,"Yeah, I think that might be for the best."
"I want to hear his thoughts on this whole situation.",he added. A might too quickly for most folk's liking but, Telford seemed fine with it. His older self seemed to be somewhat alright with the situation. Though a little angry that he wasn't in control of anything. Again, something that he could easily understand. It wasn't easy to sit there as someone else did things that you weren't alright with. Or the fact that Telford was seemingly in control of this whole situation. Whatever it was, he decided to just go with the flow for once. Let Telford do something that seemed to be fine for the three of them as he got out of the chair. Following the future version of his friend to wherever they were going to go.
Not even remotely thinking of the androids as they left.
Meanwhile, the androids had found themselves in front of Lucy's cell. North being utterly surprised by how good she had looked. Her wounds were cleaned up. And they had given her a much better uniform. One that suited her much better than her previous one had. It was a dark green color and short sleeved. And it looked a lot more comfortable than her other uniform had been. Tilting her head to the side, Lucy questioned,"Chloe? What are you doing here?"
"It's me, North. I've come to see how you've been.",North explained. It was so good to see her. After spending almost forty-eight hours thinking that she was dying. That Lucy was being beaten and mistreated by humans. Scared that she would be a pile of scrap before she saw Ash's memories of her in his mind. It was good, seeing her safe and sound. And clearly being more taken care of than any of them had been. She continued,"I saw Ash's memories of you and I've really wanted to see you for myself."
"I'm glad that you've come, North.",Lucy admitted. Getting up from the chair she was sitting on. Walking over to the wall that North was standing at. Still surprised with how she's in Chloe's body. Wondering how Chloe was doing aboard Destiny. And hoping that when she came back, she could tell her all about what she saw. Or, maybe, show her what she was missing out on when it came to the rest of their friends and family. She added,"I've missed you and everyone else so much. I wish that I could hear more about how things are. More than what Ash and the rest had told me."
"It would make me feel a lot more secure if I could see things for myself.",Lucy informed. It would make her feel so safe. And that she had this need to see for herself to see the memories from North or Markus's perspective. Even Josh and Simon's perspective would be helpful to her. North agreed,"I wish that I could show you, too."
"But I don't think they'll allow me to come into your cell.",she informed. Hating that the humans even had this much control over them. Had the ability to keep them from comforting each other or seeing each other's memories. It felt hideous to her. And to North, this would be something to keep a close eye on. Fearing that it would mean that Lucy would possibly die if she didn't. Or rather 'recycled' as humans liked to call it. Pretending it wasn't death when it absolutely was. Lucy stated,"They won't. Not without one of them in here with you."
"Mr. Young informed me that a couple of hours ago before you came.",she explained. Hating that their contact would be dependent on whether he was there. Or if David Telford was with them either. She had wished that Eli Wallace's presence had allowed for something like that. But it seemed that he only had enough clearance for them to be allowed to speak to her. Not be able to touch her or hug her or anything like that. Something that she found absolutely infuriating as she stood in her cell. Though, she wasn't infuriated with him. Just with the system for not allowing any of her friends to be anywhere near her.
Probably fearful they would plan some form of escape if they did.
"Well, that might not be for a long time.",Oliver pipped up. It might not be for a few days or so. Maybe two weeks or more. And that's if they were lucky or not. Oliver highly doubted they would be lucky enough for something like that. As Everett for the most part barely tolerated their existence onboard Destiny. He felt it would be pushing their luck if they tried for anything more than that. Ralph nodded his head in agreement as he muttered,"Definitely. Ralph thinks he'll let us do this when the stupid fixes on Destiny are done."
"What kind of fixes?",Lucy questioned. Curious as to how badly destroyed Destiny was. If it required, this many fixes. Jericho wasn't exactly in the best of shape, either. And it didn't require anywhere near as many repairs as Destiny. Which was really saying something. As it was the most rusted ship in the harbor back in Detroit. One that looked like it would sink in the slightest breeze. So how in the world could Destiny be more fragile than that? Ralph answered,"There's a few spots that need to be patched up to keep oxygen in."
"There's also some weapons that need to be repaired to defend them against any intruders.",Oliver chimed in. Eli had informed the three of them about the aliens that had attacked them once. And how their shields hadn't been good enough to defend them. That they needed to be fixed to protect them from the next attack. Something Oliver felt they needed to be taken care of right after the weapons were fixed up. He added,"I think we need to get the shields fixed up immediately after the weapons."
"That way we don't have to worry about more holes being blasted through the ship ever again.",Oliver insisted. And that way they didn't have to worry about some of the humans losing oxygen. Or having to worry about aliens killing them either. To Oliver the idea of protecting Eli and some of his friends was good enough reason. Hell, it would possibly get that Rush fellow on their side if they did this.
Though Oliver wasn't willing to bet any money on that.
Back aboard Destiny, Ash was having the time of his life. Showing his Mother and Elijah around the parts he was allowed. Thrilled that either of them was even there. And that he had let North talk him into being there. Otherwise, who knew how long it would be until he got to spend time with either of them? Probably not for a very long time. Maybe months if he were lucky. Which Ash really wasn't in the slightest bit.
Recent happenings were proof enough.
"Okay, this is as far as we've been allowed to roam without any of the military or other humans on board.",Ash explained. Holding his arm to do a small sweeping motion over the observation deck. It was one of the few places they could go properly alone. Aside from some of the hallways. Which didn't necessarily count in Ash's mind. Since the kinos frequently flew through there. Through a lot of different places if he were remembering right. Ash continued,"This is the most common place for most of us to hang out and get away from some humans."
"Not all but some.",he added. There were quite a few decent humans on board. Eli was the first that came to mind. And was one of the very few that were walking with them as he showed them mostly everything. Adding a few things about Destiny that Ash either didn't know or hadn't known about. Eli asked,"Do you guys really just come here to relax?"
"If there was another place to hide then we would.",Ash answered. But kept his tone kind. Not wanting to hurt his friend's feelings. As he really didn't deserve any form of rudeness. Especially when he knew full well that he's one of the easiest people to get along with. Along with Scott. And sometimes Greer if he's having a good day. Which wasn't often. But Ash didn't really mind all that much. Chloe questioned,"Have any of the humans on board outwardly harmed you?"
"You mean aside from David's little temper tantrum a few weeks back?",Ash asked. Giving a tiny smile at that terrible memory. It wasn't the worst pain that he'd ever experienced in his life. As David wasn't the worst person to harm him. The first human that he was made for back on Earth was. Since Mitch, the person who pretended to be his Dad, had destroyed a good portion of his memories of his real self. And all David did was drag him by his wrist and give him lip. Ash answered,"No. No one's hurt me or anyone here. So far everyone's been just tense or yelling at each other."
"Not really any better but it hasn't happened in a good while.",he assured. Which was good. No one so far has even started yelling at each other. Or even given each other dirty looks. Chloe nodded at this information as she glanced outside the window. Somewhat admiring the view as she touched her son's shoulder. While she and Ash were having a moment, Elijah took Eli to the side. Calmly, he asked,"So. Has Rush mentioned anything to you or Everett about the next supply run?"
"Supply run? Uh, no. No one has said anything about us having another supply run anytime soon.",Eli answered. This was new. As far as he knew, there wasn't any supply run they would be doing. Then again, not telling everyone things that they needed to know was an unfortunate habit. One that he had wished the older man would break by now. Clearly that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. Eli continued,"What's going to happen during this next supply run?"
"It's going to go wrong, Eli. Really, really, wrong.",Elijah answered. This wasn't good. This wasn't good in the slightest bit. Rush's habit of not telling everyone what they needed to know would bite them in the ass. He had a feeling he wasn't telling the full picture to protect everyone. In his own completely idiotic way. Elijah informed,"There's this creature that's essentially an organic gel. It hunts by body heat, which Rush thinks that Ash and the other's don't have and killed at least twenty members of Destiny."
"Wait, Ash has body heat?",Eli questioned. Trying to recall the last time that he shook hands with his friends. If their body temperature was present or not. And he did remember they felt somewhat warm like human beings. But did that mean the gel creature or whatever it was could do that sort of thing? He asked,"So this thing, this Glob or whatever it is. Will it hurt Ash?"
"No. But it'll hurt Everett if we don't find a way to stop him.",Eli answered. As he knew that Everett wouldn't trust Rush's word. Since neither of them seemed to like communicating this early in their relationship. Everett wasn't exactly forthcoming with things that he should be telling Rush either and he knew that. Calmly he informed,"We have to tell him the whole truth about the creature or he'll just go to the planet with a team of people."
"Not only will he go to the planet but he'll get the burns that he has in my time if he doesn't.",he added. Vaguely remembering the terrible scars that Everett had on him from years ago. It was something that surprised him a little when he first met him. It wouldn't be easy for Eli to convince him to not do it, but he knew the professor could. Eli questioned,"You really think that he'll listen to me about this?"
"I'm very certain that he'll listen to you. He does seem to trust you and Matthew.",Elijah assured. Remembering how close they were when Eli spoke of their first few years together. It felt like Eli and Matthew were his closest younger friends. At least that was what he pieced together from the stories that Professor Wallace told. Elijah stated,"We also need to make sure that the androids are onboard with everything."
"I don't need everyone to be out of the loop. This situation really requires everyone to be on the same page.",Elijah added. Leaving anyone out of the loop seemed like a terrible decision. Sure, some decisions where that happened were probably for the best. Like when they were trying to get water and there was some creature on board. Not telling Everett about it when he had his own problems to deal with was probably for the best. As Elijah felt it would be a situation where he couldn't do anything to help anyway. So why bother bother him with it? Instead of pointing this out, he asked,"Where exactly is Markus at the moment?"
"He was the one that assisted in saving Everett from the creature during the first attack.",Elijah explained. He had to be sure that one of his prototypes knew what was happening. As he feared what could happen if he wasn't made aware of the situation. Eli thought for a moment before he answered,"I think he's helping Simon and Josh patch up a huge hole on the west side of the ship."
"Everyone's been working on that for the past few days now.",Eli added. As it would be a lot more difficult to fix than they initially anticipated it would be. Mostly thanks to the amount of rust that they had found. And that it had taken Ash a whole day or so to even try to get it half-way done. Then he let Markus take a crack at it. Which he is currently trying to do as they spoke. Elijah asked,"You've been trying to fix a hole in the wall of the ship for days now? Just how big is this hole?"
"The hole is around four feet wide.",Eli admitted. A four-foot-wide hole? Elijah felt his eyebrows raise at this admission. But didn't say anything about how terrifying it was to know this. Instead he insisted,"Let's go see Markus and tell him about the 'Glob'. That way he isn't caught off guard the next time you guys go for a supply run."
"Sounds like a great plan.",Eli agreed. When he turned to tell Chloe and Ash about it, Elijah stopped him. Noticing, they looked completely relaxed as they pointed out different planets and stars. How Chloe was smiling for the first time in a long time. Something that she hadn't done since Ash hadn't been back on Earth. In fact, Elijah couldn't properly remember a time that she smiled like that. And as much as he wanted to tell either of them about the creature. He felt it could wait a little longer. Let Mother and Son spend more time together after not seeing each other for a few weeks. Elijah suggested,"Why don't we let them spend a little more time together Eli?"
"Chloe hasn't been herself since Ash has come here and I know she needs more alone time with him.",Elijah reasoned. Not liking keeping either of them out of the loop. But knowing that they needed their alone time. And that Eli would feel the same if it were him and his own Mother. Giving Eli a gentle smile when he answered,"Yeah. Alright. I mean I probably would want the same thing if it were me and my own mom."
With that the pair quietly left the observation deck. Eli leading Elijah towards the hole that Markus was currently working on. Grateful that the door leading to it was firmly locked. Soon as they were near it, he gently knocked on the glass. Watching Markus turn to face him and giving him a little wave. One that Markus mirrored as he gave a confused expression. Picking up the kinos controls, he asked,"Hey Markus? We need you guys out here for a second if that's okay?"
"Elijah just came aboard, and he needs to talk to you guys.",Eli added. Gesturing towards Elijah in Everett's body. The group seemed a little uncomfortable with this but made their way out of the area as safely as possible. Taking off the helmet once the door was closed, Markus questioned,"Yes, Elijah? How can I help you?"
"Okay, since I'm highly doubtful that Rush was going to tell you about the next supply run. I'm going to.",Elijah informed. Mostly thanks to the fact that Nicholas seemed to keep secrets to the detriment of everyone. Even himself in Elijah's opinion. As it sometimes has bitten him in the ass too. Instead of voicing this thought out loud, Elijah explained,"The next supply run there's going to be a creature that hunts by body heat. It's essentially a gel creature that grows as it feeds on organic matter."
"It moves faster than it seems like its possible and starts off the size of an average microwave.",he informed. At least that's what it sounded like in Colonel Young's story it did. If that he was even remembering it right in the first place. As it had been around five or so years since he had heard about that night. If only the older version of Eli were with them. Then he'd be able to clarify what had happened a bit better. From his perspective of the situation at the very least. Elijah continued,"Its not going to be all that easy to spot either. As in the beginning its body is clear and not easy to spot on any form of surveillance device."
"Does it give off any form of body heat or anything to that effect?",Josh asked. A bit surprised that none of them were made aware of this creature. But not entirely so. Ash made them aware of how Rush took his 'warning' the last time they spoke. So, him not telling any of the androids about the gel creature on the planet seemed less than surprising. Though it was still thoroughly annoying that he hadn't made any of them aware. As far as Josh knew, Everett didn't. Simon chimed in,"Is there anything we can do against it?"
"My suggestion is to turn off your body heat before heading through the gate and for you guys to make a taser that'll ward it off.",Elijah explained. Telling them the creature seemed to be uncomfortable with electricity. So much so that it flung itself backwards to not get hurt worse. Something that Everett vaguely remembered watching David and Markus attacking it with. Right until it shrunk into essentially nothingness before their very eyes. He added,"Eli can make one for you guys. That way no one is unprepared for this creature."
"I want you to be safe that way it doesn't cling on to any of you and gets aboard Destiny.",he stated. Something that he had been afraid of after he was informed of the creature. Especially when he had seen Ash with Chloe. How much his first creation loved her own so much. It was sort of difficult to not want to help either of them. Eli asked,"You really think that the 'Glob'll' attach itself to any of them to get on board of Destiny?"
"I wouldn't put it past the thing. It may not be able to think at all. Its pretty much a parasite.",Elijah added. Feeling the creature was somewhat like a jellyfish in that regard. But he wouldn't be all that certain of it until he was able to dissect the creature to see its insides. And considering how it was immune to most physical attacks that weren't electric based. He highly doubted he would be able to do anything like that. While he thought that over, Markus questioned,"Did you make Ash aware of this creature, Elijah?"
"Not yet.",Elijah admitted. Noticing the annoyed look on Markus's face as he gave a nervous smile. Explaining that Ash was spending time with Chloe. And that the two hadn't seen each other in so long it felt wrong to interrupt them. Toying with Everett's nails, he added,"I thought it would be for the best that they have an hour or so together."
"Then we'd tell them after we made you three aware of the gel creature?",Elijah suggested. Shaking his head, Markus grips the bridge of his nose. Giving it a gentle rub as he did so. An action that Eli would have mirrored if he were more annoyed but decided against. Softly, Markus muttered,"I'll go tell him. We can't just leave him out of the loop even if he's spending time with his Mother."
"He wouldn't like that.",Markus added. Heading towards the direction of the Observation Deck. Preparing how to break the news to Ash about this creature. As he knew his best friend deserved to be in the loop. His own well-being was on the line too.
