A/N:

Beast Boy = Beastie

Robin = Robyn

Raven = Crow

Starfire = Starbolt.

Cyborg, Kid Flash, Bumblebee, and Terra are all normal.

I own nothing...but the plot.

Chapter 7

Crow rarely locked his door, because there were only so many that were stupid enough to wander in, unannounced and unwelcomed. That being said, he was just about ready to murder the intruder until her scent hit him full force and her lithe arms wrapped around his torso. He tensed but never moved. 'What the hell is she thinking.'

Beastie knew he couldn't stand to be touched so why was she willing to risk her life for this?

Her voice carried all the stress and baggage as she croaked out quietly, "Don't make me leave."

"You know I don't like being touched."

"Just a few minutes longer... I-I keep seeing his face when I close my eyes... your scent helps..." Her cheeks burned as she admitted this secret and thanks to the empath in him so did his. The retort that she didn't need to touch him to smell him burned on his tongue. He said nothing but sighed. Trying to meditate his way out of the uncomfortable reality. Her touch was warm and inviting and if the half-demon wasn't careful, he'd fall into it, knowing nothing but feeling and that would not be good for anyone in the tower.

Silence stretched on between them before Crow made his move and Beastie found herself teleported by the door.

"Ow" she complained and her partner rolled his eyes because he knew for a fact that he hadn't dropped her in the slightest.

"Time's up." He grumbled, closing his eyes to drift back to sleep.

He was almost there when he felt the softest fur against his leg. Growling, he peeped over his shoulder to see a small green kitten, curled up towards the end of his bed.

"That meant: leave..." The furball never moved.

"I know you hear me. I can feel your heartbeat." She ignored him still and he made a sound of disgust, laying back down, grumbling about personal space.

The morning came much too soon yet the Titans who usually had a hard time sleeping stayed in bed long past time to get up. The green changeling had meant to stay; as in when Crow pulled out his book to read stretched out at the top of the bed, Beastie grabbed her handheld game from a bag by the corner of his bed, made sure the sound was off and played silently in the space she'd declared for herself. Red-tinged eyes laid way to his partner, burning a hole in her unruly wavy bed-head, but still he said nothing.

This wouldn't last, merely a change in routine. He'd suffer it. They'd move past it, never to speak about it again. And then they would be back to their regularly scheduled programming.

She slept in his room a second night, and then a third. They were settling in bed when he finally spoke to her.

"You're training with Robyn tomorrow." It wasn't a question or a request but an order. "Bee and Kid Flash can't stay here forever."

The anxiety - her anxiety- crashed against him in waves, riddled with fear. "I'll leave your room." It was a bargain, but he was not compromising on this.

"Nothing happened to you, B. You're fine."

Her eyes went downcast and the demon's spawn could smell tears. 'Don't do it.'

"Yeah, nothing..." she sniffled. "I guess it's pretty pathetic for me to hide over nothing."

He sighed, "Adonis went too far."

She nodded, "Not all the way, though."

"Far enough... I'm not saying you should be alright -"

"I just need some time!"

Time. Robyn would let her have all the time she needed. Not as her leader but as her friend, as a woman. That's why she hadn't been by. At least as far as the girl was concerned that's why she'd left them alone; her disposition with Crow was probably a whole different reason. That's why when Beastie said she didn't want to talk about it while getting dinner, the brunette left it alone. That's why they were able to be holed up in his room for three days without a single knock on the door.

"We're heroes. Time is something we don't have." But Crow was going to have her face facts. Titans East could not hold up forever without two of their core members and he would not let anyone think they got under their skin. The public was waiting, villains were waiting. They needed to get back to work.

She nodded despite the tears flowing. "Okay," her raspy voice was small. Nodding his head for her to come to him, she crawled on all fours, dropping by his side to lay her head on his lap. He tangled his fingers in her hair, petting her.

"We've got to get back to normal. This isn't us. And no one beat you. So stop acting like it." She nodded in agreement. Fingers on his thigh rubbed small circles on his soft pajama pants.

Crow had had her fooled. He was the smallest of the male titans... by this tower's standards. Shorter by a few inches in stature and inarguably had a slimmer build than the other guys on the team. Sure, she'd noticed how his biceps bunched up, especially when his arms crossed his chest in his signature stance, but from the extent of Adonis's injuries, as whispered by Robyn to Bee, she would have never guessed on a good day he would be capable of that using physical strength alone. Perhaps that was the demon blood.

The green girl supposed she hadn't been the only one fooled. The other Titans' views had changed astronomically, for better or worse, and it dawned on her that maybe that's why Crow was a stickler for rules and boundaries. It helped him keep 'the monster' in check. At first, he would have been deemed the most levelheaded of them all. Now, the carefully built reputation was in shambles. After all, she had no idea how long he worked to make himself approachable, how hard it could have been. How many people could brag about being friends with a demon? How many were likely to trust one? The media was probably having a field day painting him the way they wanted and here she was trying to keep him in the little bubble of relief he'd unknowingly created for her. After one fight, Crow jumped to the number one titan most likely to commit murder... and it was for her.

Beastie closed her eyes, enjoying the massage he provided to her aching head, too much to process. He was right. She needed to get back to normal, for his sake if not her own. She could do that for him.
