Chapter 45: Chilling out

After getting ourselves cleaned up from the mess that we caused, the team began to head to the library to serve our detention. Still trying to figure out where Team RWBY is at, but I'm sure they will meet up with us soon.

As we arrived at the library we saw that it was mostly empty, with the exception of a few students, us, and the librarian. We decided to head to the second floor so we didn't disturb anyone and since it was fairly empty up here. Moving to a table we all just took our seats and began to think about what we could do to pass the time.

"Soooo, any ideas guys?" I asked them and saw Ren already had a book to read, while Nora fell right asleep. "Okay, that's two down, what about you two?"

"I can get some comics." Jaune told us but Pyrrha quickly reminded him.

"Or you can work on some of the subjects that you still need help with." Jaune just whined a bit but we had to remind him that he still needed to up his grades. With two people on his case, he agreed to study and went to get some books.

"What about you?" Pyrrha turned to me and asked.

"Meh, honestly I'll just read something here. Only a little we can do now. You?"

"I'll read as well and probably help Jaune a bit if he needs it with something. Reviewing our notes will be the best to refresh our studies." I nod at that and went to get a book.

Now picking a book isn't too hard right, maybe I can read something simple, but not too boring. Something Fun, but not too exciting. Like what Ruby took from Blake, I still have yet to learn what book she took but I'm too scared to know now. By the end of it, I just took a book that had pictures of dust on it. I think Pyrrha might have a point, reviewing something would be good for all of us.

As I was heading back to my table, I looked outside a window and saw in the distance big airships heading our way. By the looks of it, they looked like those Atlesian aircraft that Pietro told me about. Something inside my head began to hurt at the sight of them coming here. But whatever, not my problem. I turn a corner and stop myself this time from bumping into someone.

"Ha! Not this time." I said to myself but got a confused tilt from the person in front of me, the same small girl from before. "Sorry, tend to talk to myself a lot... You know saying that out loud sounds even worse... Anyway, it's good to see you again. So you're exploring the school?" The small girl continues to look at me confused by it but eventually, she nods her head at that.

"That's good, this place can be tricky to get lost, Oh um I'm Seth, nice to meet you..." As I finish my introduction the small girl nods her head and begins to move her hands around in a way that I didn't understand. I continue to look at her confused but then she must have realized something, she pulls out a scroll to type something out and shows it to me, so I begin to read it out loud.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Mint. Sorry, but I'm a mute." Oh, so that explains it.

"Well Mint, nice to meet you, my name is Seth... And I just said that again." Well, fists impressions are out the door. "Anyway, hope your time here at Beacon is well for you and your... Team?" I said with a confused gaze not knowing where they could be. Mint waved her hand around indicating that they were 'around.' She then again began to type on her scroll and showed it to me.

"My team is running a little late. They said they would arrive here later. School stuff." That's weird, I mean I did meet her earlier... But then again Penny also arrived here earlier as well... I wonder how is she?

"Well, that's nice to know. Hopefully, your team arrives here safe and sound." As I said this, Mint just rolled her eyes at that but eventually just nodded her head. She then began to walk past me and wave one last time to me, I waved back and turned once more beginning to head back to my table.

Meanwhile, Mint just turned the corner and pulled out her scroll again, snapping pictures of the library.

As I began to make my way once more to my Team, an Idea popped into my head. Looking around I began to head in the direction of where the librarian was at. Hopefully, they would have the book in mind, and since we are here for most of the day. I'm sure I would at least study a bit...

Right?

"Yang Xiao Long prepare your Kingdom for battle!" Ruby yelled at her sister.

Why do I always say things? Like for real, I really need to know when to shut up and not jinx myself when it comes to these things. The moment I made it back to my table I took a seat right next to Nora who was sleeping, Jaune came back with his books with Pyrrha and both sat with us. Jaune began to study for the semester to come and asked questions that he needed help with. Either Pyrrha or I helped him out whenever he needed it. But it was mostly Pyrrha who helped him. She was the best when it came to studying.

However when they both began to question what I was doing with my hands, I just explained to them I was learning sign language, but both just looked at me confused by it and I just told them.

"Oh, well I met that girl again and she is a mute. So I want to know if I can at least learn it. I mean I already know old Mistrillian and old Vacuo, so why not learn another one?" I tell them this and Jaune nods his head in understanding.

But... "You mean the one that you bumped into this morning?" Pyrrha asked me and as I was about to answer I flinched at the look she was giving me.

"Ye... Yeah, her name is Mint. She's pretty nice." I just looked back at the book in my hand to ignore her gaze at me. Honestly, since this morning I feel like shit has been so confusing.

To make matters even more complicated, Team RWBY finally came by... And brought a huge distraction for everyone. Ruby decided to bring some board games here so we had something to do. It doesn't seem like a bad idea to start but with them only being four to two-player games I feel like others will be left out. So we decided to let them have the first crack at it and see who gets to go next.

What we didn't expect was for them to be loud as hell! Raising my head I saw it was mostly Yang and Ruby who were making all of the noise but it was fine, from what I could tell Weiss looked like she had no idea what she was doing with the way she was looking at her cards and back at the two sisters. Blake looked like she had no intention of playing but was just dragged here by the others, knowing her she might have other things on her mind.

I move my head to the side to avoid one of the flying pieces they have been throwing and go to pick it up. Thank god this place was nearly empty or else we would all be in more trouble. Standing up I turned to see that Weiss was giving another one of her monologs, and by the sound of it she was having way more fun than she should.

Sadly that quickly goes away by Yang activating a trap card, which makes her depressed in a matter of seconds. Ruby tried to comfort her but... Yeah, it ended with them both crying.

"Here's a thought, maybe next time you don't throw away your pieces. You could have won your game." I tell her this as I place some of the board game pieces back on their table. Weiss promptly drops Ruby and turns to me, I could tell she was going to say something but she quickly doesn't. I want to say it was a good sign but I have yet to know.

"Sup shades, you want next game?" I turn to Yang who in hand still had my sunglasses... But there weren't on her face... They were... around... Yeah.

"No Yang I'm good, not really a board game type of guy, I'm more into card games." I tell her as I try to look anywhere but at her.

"We brought cards as well, if you want I can lend them to you so you guys can play." Ruby tells me as she gets back up from the ground and shows me some playing cards.

"Thanks Ruby, we can play later I still need to study a bit more."

"Ugh, why? School starts tomorrow, have some fun while you still can." Ruby argues but I just shake my head.

"It's not schoolwork. I'm learning something different."

"What?"

"Sign language." I tell them only for Ruby, Yang, and Weiss to look at me confused by it.

"Why?" They said in unison.

"Oh well, one of the new students here is a mute. So, I thought maybe I can learn it and see if I can at least try to understand them."

"New student? You mean the person who was attacking you?" Yang said and I shook my head.

"Not her, someone else. Small, black hair with twin tails, has green eyes. She was there after you guys left me to deal with the other person." As I tell them this I cross my arms not forgetting that they left me alone to deal with Arslan.

However, that didn't work at all, because for some reason I saw all of Team RWBY, yes even Blake look at me with deadpan expressions. That got me confused by it and was going to ask what was up. But Yang beat me to the punch for that.

"You were so right Pyrrha!" Yang said to Pyrrha as I soon heard behind me.

"Thank You!" "Pancakes!" I turned to my team and saw that Pyrrha had her arms up and Nora woke up from her sleep but quickly went back to it.

"What?" I asked confused by their antics and just saw Jaune get up from his seat.

"Hey, can I play?" Jaune asked but was quickly shot down by Ruby who said they already had four players.

"Besides this game requires a certain level of tactical cunning that I seriously doubt you have." Weiss also added something to Jaune wanting to play but was quickly shut down by Yang this time.

"Ugh, you attacked your own navel fleet two turns ago."

I quickly covered my mouth to try not to laugh out loud at what Yang said and just heard Weiss groan at this.

"Bring it on Ice Queen, I'll have you know that I've been told I'm a natural-born leader." Jaune said defending himself.

"By who? Your mother?"

"And Pyrrha and Seth."

"Hello again!" "That was supposed to be a secret Jaune!" I quickly reminded him but just saw him rub the back of his neck at that. Sigh... When it comes to fighting Jaune can still be a bit of a problem. But he sure makes up for it by creating good plans that help the team. Well, we get what we get. But he is getting better.

Focusing on what they were saying again I only heard Jaune say. " You trusted me with way more important stuff before. I mean you told us all that Blake was sec-". My body moved on its own when Jaune said this and I quickly jabbed him in the stomach to stop him from talking. But Pyrrha also had this idea and went to cover his mouth.

"Fun-loving person, whom we all admire and respect." Pyrrha tried to cover Jaune's wording with her own and we all turned to Blake who was not buying any of it.

"Right... Well, we will just let you all finish your game." I tell them as I begin to drag Jaune back to our table.

"Sup losers." A new voice was heard and I turned to see Sun walk in.

Ruby quickly greeted him, while Sun just greeted everyone he knew.

"Ruby, Yang, Blake, Seth. Ice Queen."

"Why does everyone keep calling me that?" Weiss said as she wanted someone to answer her question.

"I mean are we wrong here?" I asked her and just got an upset face from her as a response. I chuckle at that and turn to see the new person that was next to Sun. For some reason, I saw him wave toward Pyrrha and me. Pyrrha quickly waved back and I felt her bump my shoulder. So I wave back at him.

I then lean toward Pyrrha and whisper to her. "Do you know him?" She looked at me confused about what I just said.

"That's Neptune. He went to Sanctum with us."

...

He Did!? (This is what I get for reading the books late!)

"He did?" I asked her and then began to remember my Sanctum days. Not many people fit a description like him, but I think I remember someone who kept flirting with most of the girls there. I turned to Pyrrha and asked her an important question. "Was he someone that I fought?"

"I don't believe so. I think he mostly kept his distance from you. I mean I can understand why." Pyrrha told me and I nodded my head at this. Yeah, I can understand why now. Well, if he wasn't someone that I fought then maybe he wasn't too bad of a guy, right? I turned back to him and saw him approach Weiss.

"I don't believe I caught your name, snow angel." Neptune said to Weiss.

...

You know I think now I remember him... This guy really loved to flirt with girls.

"Are you kidding me." I heard Jaune say this next to us and saw that he was upset with Neptune. I mean Jaune already had a bad first impression with Weiss, so that's on him.

"I think I'm done playing actually. I'll see you guys later." Blake got up from her seat and left.

...

"Women." We all turn to Nora as she just looks happy with our reactions.

"By the way." I turn back to Sun. "Where have you been?"

We put our tables together to make a bigger one so everyone could sit with each other. Either to talk or to play some games. We used one side of the table to play some card games that Ruby brought here and the only people who were playing were Me, Ruby, Yang, Jaune, and Ren to my surprise. Meanwhile on the other side of the table Pyrrha, Nora, Weiss, Sun, and Neptune were continuing to talk about what I have been hearing, Haven and old friends.

"So after my third attempt at escaping the blonde teacher had enough and instructed me a teacher with green hair. I thought I could give him the old slip but every time I tried to escape, he was always there. Waiting for me." We heard Sun say where he was at these last few days. So apparently he's been trying to escape ever since he got here but had no luck so far. Each time he did Miss Goodwitch seemed to get him right before he got far. So after his last attempt, she got fed up with him and put Doctor Oobleck in charge of dealing with Sun.

"Yeah, Doctor Oobleck can be like that, I once got detention for being late to class, and each time I tried to sneak in, he kept on finding a way to get me." Ruby said as tried to support Sun.

"Didn't you sneak into detention once?" Yang told her sister but Ruby just shushed her for that.

"Well whatever the case is now, I'm free to explore the school now."

"Yeah, but sadly you need to make it up for our team, Scarlet and Sage have been upset with you ever since you ditched us to get here first." Neptune told Sun, earning a groan from him.

"Oof, That's rough buddy" Yang told him, returning her attention to the game on hand. "Draw two Shades." She smirks at me but I place a card down as well.

"Draw four Ren." I tell him and he simply places another draw-two for the next sucker.

"Aw, Come on!" Jaune begins to draw more cards.

"By the way, what's up with Blake? She looks even grumpier than before?" Sun asked us and we all just looked at each other as well.

"Well, Seth cream her in the face." Yang told him and EVERYONE turned to me for this.

"I said I was sorry! And it was meant for Weiss!"

"Excuse me!"

"Hey! You cream Ren, so."

"Ugh... What?" We turned to Sun who had an upset look on his face. "You said you two weren't a thing!"

What the fuck is Sun talking about? "We are not! What are you talking about?"

"Ugh... Seth maybe you should let it go." Ren told me and I turned to him to see what he was talking about, for some reason, I saw him motion his head to the side and look at where he was aiming.

I quickly shut my mouth after seeing the two people next to him looking at me with dead eyes.

I slam my head on the table and just said. "God damn it Yang." Earning a laugh in response.

Another hour passed and we changed our game to one that I felt I knew the rules too.

But Sun still had a few questions to ask. "Wait! You were able to sneak out?! How!?" I looked at him and shrugged.

"Meh, it took a lot of our skills to sneak out but we were able to do it with a little help." I tell him as I continue to shuffle my deck of cards.

"Seth was forced to dance in front of team GOTH." Ruby joined the chat.

"RUBY!" I looked at her by her betrayal.

"What it was funny how you dance." We then see Ruby place her deck of cards on the table and stand up. "How did it go again? Oh right, keep your hands to the side and keep your eyes looking at the ground. And every so often you take a drink out of your coffee. It was a good thing Seth was there cause the coffee they made him drink was black. Ew." As she was saying this Ruby began to copy the dance I did back then, earning a few chuckles from everyone.

I simply just covered my face from the embarrassment and told Ruby to sit down so we could begin.

"Alright Seth! Prepare for Battle!" Ruby places a deck on the table and draws five cards.

"Alright Ruby. Get your game on." I draw my five cards and we both begin.

"Duel!" We both said in unison as we began our battle.

"My draw!" Ruby quickly drew a card and placed it on the table. "I place Wing Furball in defense. And put one card face down. I end my turn."

I nod at this and draw my card. " I summoned Hero Bubble in attack and I attacked your Wing Furball!"

"Not so fast! You activated my trap card!" The game was an intense duel of both skilled, luck, and one who didn't know half of the rules. But for some strange reason, this really brought back a nice memory.

Hell, halfway through the battle I began to sing a song.

"Tough times, hard climbs! We'll take 'em on together! Right now, let's go!" As I was about to sing the main part, the librarian smacked me on the back of my head telling me to be quiet.

"Sorry." I said as I began to rub the back of my head.

"Maybe we should change our game to something more relaxing." Ren told us as he reached for something new to play.

"Like what?" Pyrrha asked.

"Oh! I got it. And it's one that we can all play." Nora quickly got up and went to get a new game to play. "This one!" She showed us a new game called.

"Dungeons and Grimms?" With no one arguing, we all decided to play it.

Boy, that was a big mistake.

"Weiss, can you heal our party?" Yang asked her mage trying to get a heal.

"You need to roll a fifteen or higher for a whole party heal."

"Who has a better roll?" Ruby asked.

"I do." I told them and I looked at Nora. "What do I have to do DM?"

"Hmmm, Sing a song bard and you can roll. Sing bad and the whole squad dies."

"Oh god please don't make him sing." Weiss said as she tried not to make me sing. Which in turn, I took offence to.

"Okay, say less." I turned to face Weiss as I looked at her in her eyes. "There once was a maiden from the city of Atlas! She didn't talk much but boy did she bitch! She had a sharp stick that she sat upon! The maiden from Atlas who is also your Mom!"

...

"Oof, got to need an Aura amp for that one." As Yang said this, all hell broke loss.

CRASH!

"Get Her Off Me!" "I take everything nice I've said about you!" "Like what? OW! Nails!" "Weiss!" "Seth!" "I'll allow it! Roll Seth!" "Sigh... Nora."

Well, that was most of our day here. We had some laughs, some tears, some near-death experiences. But all in all, I think Ruby got her wish. All of us did have a nice day, and right before we went back to school. Team RWBY all decided to leave first saying they were going to go check up on Blake, we all said our farewell and they left. Sun wanted to go with them and see how Blake was doing but Neptune told him that their team must be waiting for them. Apparently, the other two members came in late so they were just killing time with us. They said their goodbyes as well and soon it was just us five left.

"So, what now?" Jaune asked.

"We can go back to our room and be alone with our thoughts." Nora pitched an idea but was quickly shut down.

"Lunch?" Pyrrha suggested and soon our stomachs rumbled, with all in agreement we all decided to go get something to eat.

"Hey look, Ruby left one of her board games here." Jaune said as he went to pick it up. "You think we should return it to her?"

"Sure, we got time to make a quick stop." We all began to head towards our room, as we walked we noticed there were a lot more students than before all over the school.

"Halls are getting pretty crowded." Ren said to us as we made past more people.

"I didn't expect this many people here." I said as I avoided bumping into a girl with rollerblades. Who skates indoors?

"The more students here the more interesting this semester might turn out for us." Now Pyrrha said as she moved out of the way of a girl with brick red hair, for some reason she narrowed her eyes at her as she passed by.

"That means we need to step up our training! We can't be out show by these new students!" Nora cheerfully said as we exited the building and headed in the direction of the dorms.

"Yeah, we can return to training this week. We took a nice break to relax but now it's back to work for us." I tell them as we enter a new building.

"Aw man, I hope this time we can at least take it easy." Jaune whined trying to get off easy... But.

"Nope!" Nora and I said to him earning him a groan in the process. The team just laughs at that and we begin to go up the stairs to our floor.

Yep, this semester might be more eventful than our previous one. We have old friends here. New friends to be seen and who knows what else could happened. I just know one thing.

Whatever happens... I'm going to really enjoy this year.

"Hey Ruby! We got your board game!" Nora said as she turned to corner and saw that Ruby was outside her dorm. "Oh, you got some guest."

Guest? We made our way toward Nora and turned the corner.

Infront of Ruby there were four different people. One was a boy with grey hair, another was a girl with green hair and red eyes, behind them was Mint, she looked surprised by my arrival for some reason, and in the middle of them was another girl with long black hair and ember eyes.

Every part of my body told me to either run or fight. This feeling was the same as the one I had with Lionheart, that man from before, and for some strange reason these people now. But this time... This feeling was telling me to kill... And for the first time... I wanted to.

"Hey guys! Oh, you brought my board game here. Thanks!" Ruby said with gratitude as Nora handed her the game.

"New friends Ruby?" Jaune asked as he got close to them.

"Oh, ugh. Well, they are exchange students from Haven. They just a little lost right now." Ruby said as she waved at the four, the one with ember eyes stepped forward and began to talk.

"This school is a big place and we are already lost."

"Hey no problem, we were like that when we first got here." Nora said to her as she got close to her. "Nice to meet you, I'm Nora."

"It's a pleasure, Nora. My name is Cinder." Her tone was like a caring person, but something felt off about it.

By that name alone, My head began to hurt a lot more. I took a step back and began to hold it with my hand.

"Nice to meet you. This is our team, That's Ren, over here we got Jaune and this is-"

"Pyrrha Nikos. What an honor to meet you." The one in green said as she went for a handshake. Pyrrha being the kind person that she is went for it as well.

"Nice to meet you as well.."

"Oh, my name is Emerald." A Friendly tone came out of her mouth, but I could tell it was fake.

More pain went to my head, as I was beginning to get angry the more they continued to talk and the more images came to my head.

"Cool! We got another Gem name! Seth, you hear that? Seth?" Soon everyone turned to me as I was leaning up against the wall holding my head.

"Seth? What's wrong?" Pyrrha went to my side and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Hey buddy are you good?" A new voice was heard and soon I felt someone else touch my shoulder.

That's when I snap.

Pulling my shoulder away I look at the new person. "Fuck off."

"Seth!" "Hey! That's not nice." "He was trying to be nice here." I look at my team all looking at me with disappointed looks on their faces. That quickly got me to snap out of it and I turned to the new face.

"I... I'm." I looked away from them and not wanting to be here anymore I moved past them and entered my room.

"Seth?"

"Sorry about him. He is usually nice. He just gets headaches a lot." Ren told them and soon the grey hair nodded at that.

"It's fine, no damage done."

"Yeah, sorry about him. Mercury usually has that effect on people." Emerald said as she got an upset look from Mercury.

"Hey, no I don't-." Mercury was going to argue back but was cut off by Cinder.

"Well anyway, we should all go now, we have school tomorrow and we need to find our dorm soon. Mint do you know the way there?" The small girl just looked in the direction of where the boy went and turned to Cinder nodding her head. She begins to walk away motioning them to follow her. With that, the four begin to leave. Leaving the group of five standing there in the halls. Soon Pyrrha went inside her dorm room to check on Seth and Jaune turned to Ruby apologizing for how things turned out.

Inside my team Bathroom, I was currently puking the last bit of food that I had this morning. This might have been the worst headache since coming here. One was the amount of pain I was feeling, I'm surprised I didn't pass out like last time. And two... The images that I saw... The Carnage that I've seen... So... So, much death... Pyrrha... Penny. Who were those guys? Shit, they all are giving me really bad feelings, like something was telling me not to trust them... Shit. Mint was also with them, but I didn't feel anything bad about her.

Knock Knock

A knock at the door made me focus on the voice on the other side.

"Seth is everything okay?" The voice of Pyrrha was heard on the other side of the door. I just sat up, wiping my mouth thinking of what to say.

"no." I said in a low voice.

"Seth?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just headaches. Really bad ones." I hope they are just really bad ones. Because now... I pray that everything goes right after today...

Man, I hope I didn't jinx myself again.

Well there was a lot more but I just thought now that we got more characters going in the story, I have a lot to work on. So anyways Thank you again and I will see you all next time.

Honestly, if I followed my old draft of this story... We should have been in the vital festival by now... So that's something I really didn't put too much effort on. But hey what can we do? We are here now. And all we can do is keep moving forward. Thanks again guys and I hope to see you all soon...
