Sara came up the stairs from the basement, dumping the box of decorations on the floor and Mark carried another one behind her. She wiped her hands on her jeans, and zipped her hoodie up as she streched her back.. Loki raised an eyebrow at them as he leaned against the counter, his still splinted fingers sticking up from his crossed arms and he watched Amy and Emily bring two large pumpkins up to the house and through the back door. Sara opened the boxes, and she pulled a plastic skeleton up and she giggled as she shoved it at Robert.
"Oh my God! Put this in the chair next to the window, it will look so cool there. We can do an entire scene with it, like pose it and add some of the fake spiderwebs, and maybe some books and stuff!" She said, and Loki bent over and picked up a plastic skull from the box and held it up. The metal splints were obnoxious to him, but he did not want to risk the wrath of Amy for not wearing them. Emily and Amy opened the door, struggling with the pumpkins and Mark took one from Emily, and Loki tried to take Amy's and she turned her body to keep it from him.
Sara had calmed since their visit to the clinic two days ago, and he began to wonder what Amy had said to her during their conversation. He followed them all with his eyes, and reached down into the box to hold up a rubber bat and he raised an eyebrow as Amy walked past him. She stopped, shaking her head and he put the bat onto the table in front of him.
"No heavy lifting there, not until your hand is healed Spooky, I am not stitching you up again." She said, and Sara laughed and put on a mask over her head and laughed as she walked around. The grotesque face of it making him wonder about the sanity of his mortal friends, and he set the skull in his hand on a table.
"You celebrate death and the morbid?" He asked, and Mark laughed and Sara held up a bag of plastic spiders and squealed in joy.
"Sort of, ancient humans believed that this was the thinning of the boundaries between the realms of the dead and the living world. We carve pumpkins with faces to scare them away from our houses, and wear costumes so our ancestors don't decide to stay with us." Robert said, and started streching some of the nylon webbing out to make it whispy. Loki took some, and it caught in his splints, making him wave his hand to get it off of them and Emily walked by, untangling his fingers and began streching it in her hands.
"Strange tradition, if you ask me." He said, amd Emily laughed, she looked at him, and draped some of the cobwebs over his shoulder and he rolled his eyes.
"It is a good thing we didn't ask you." She retorted, and he sighed as he watched Emily dance around the room with the webbing and strech it over the foyer fireplace and giggle. Sara took the webbing off of his shoulder and she tossed the mask back in the box and smiled at him.
"It is all about having fun. The fantasy of it all, you can dress up and pretend to be someone else for a night. And, going up to it, you can have fun at attractions that are made to scare you." She said, and he shook his head. She shrugged and handed him two rubber bats and gestured to the porch. "Can you hang these on the hooks outside? I can't reach them."
"I suppose." He replied, taking them and Emily danced past him with the fake spiderwebs over her head and he had to step back as they dragged across his face. He shook his head, and rubbed at his skin to get the sensation off of it in disgust. He opened his eyes to see Emily standing by, and she looked like she was sorry for her accident. "I am unharmed, it was merely the sensation of it. It made my skin crawl."
"I'm still sorry, I didn't mean it." She said, and he gave her a crooked smile and gestured that he was fine. He walked to the door, and opened it to stand on the porch. Robert followed him out, and he started streching the fake spiderwebs along the porch railing and dotting them with different sizes of plastic spiders. Loki reached above his head, and hung one bat from the hook above his head.
"Scared of spiders?" Robert asked him, and Loki turned and raised an eyebrow. "Me too, I hate the real ones. They freak me out, I have panic attacks when I see those big eyed aliens in pop culture too. We went and saw this movie called Signs, we all had to leave early because I had a full on panic attack."
"I have no issue with spiders, it was the sensation that bothered me. I pursued a woman who never tied her hair back, and when she got mad she would flip her hair about. It would hit me in the face before she hurled insults at me, and I hate that sensation over a hundred years later." He replied, and Robert nodded and he hung the other bat up. Sara came out and was taping a paper skeleton to the front door, and they watched her as she worked. She turned around, and Robert handed Loki the bag of fake spiders.
"Hey Sara, can we be careful with the fake webs? We don't want to accidentally walk into them or anything, it can cause someone to fall down." Robert said, and Sara smiled as she nodded. Loki watched Robert, and he moved the webbing so that it did not hang like enough to brush his face.
"Sure, no problem, and that is a good point." She said, and she went back inside. Robert offered him a fist bump, and Loki gave it to him.
"Thank you. I appreciate your concern for me." He said, and Robert shrugged as he worked on decorating some more. Loki watched, his hand hurting a bit, and he wanted to curse himself for cutting his fingers. "A bit higher would help near the windows, make them look natural."
"Thanks, and I will not tell anyone about the trauma, bro code and stuff." He said, and Loki laughed as Robert put up some more of the webbing. He went back inside, and Sara was laughing and taking pictures of Amy and Emily as they stood with another plastic skeleton. They were kissing where it's cheeks would be, and both girls were laughing as they held up the decoration.
"Get over here Loki, pose with Boney Jim!" Emily said, and he walked over and held the skeleton and thought of a pose for Sara to take a picture of. He grinned, and bent over the decoration, pretending to be in a passionate kiss with a partner and Emily and Sara squealed in laughter. Sara took the picture, and he bowed with the prop as he bent it backwards.
"That was great, Boney Jim finally got some action!" Emily said, and Mark laughed as he walked by with some black candles, replacing the white tapers in the Candleabra on the mantle in the den with black ones.
"Most action that skeleton has probably ever had. We going to Fright Fest this year?" Mark asked and Loki took the white candles and put them in a box on the low table next to him. "Sara is a free House Elf and all, and can make grown up deciaions. You can even dress up Bugs, no one will judge you at all."
"Well..." Sara said, and opened a took an envlope off the refrigerator and opened it. She took out some printed pages, and passed them around with a smile. "I may have already bought our tickets! We go this Saturday!"
"OHMYGOD!" Emily screamed, running at Sara and she wrapped her legs around her friend. Loki reached out as he saw them both start to fall backwards, and jammed his injured hand on Emily's arms and he groaned as he steadied them. Amy ran over, and Sara gasped in horror as Loki held his splinted fingers and tore the white tape off his fingers. He unwrapped the gauze, checking the wounds, and found them still sealed shut, but pain raced up his arm and he gingerly put the gauze back on his fingers and then the metal and foam splints.
"You need some ibuprophen Loki?" Amy asked him, and she held the pieces of white, medical tape for him. He gritted his teeth, and gave a nod as he affixed the tape back in place. Sara looked down in shock, and Emily backed up from him. He finished caring for his injured hand, and walked through the door and to the couch in the den to rest a moment.
"I'm really sorry Loki, I was just super excited about going to Wild Waves." Emily said, and Amy came back with a bottle of water and two pain tablets. He elevated his hand above his shoulder, and swallowed both pills at once before resting his head back.
"It was an accident Emily, I was more worried about ruining another towel with blood." He said, and he felt someone rub his shoulders from behind. He opened his eyes, and saw Sara standing behind the couch and giving him a gentle massage. "You don't have to do that, I am just waiting for the medicine to take effect."
"I know, but you really are hurting and tense. I wanted to help." She said, she had been a bit more attentive since their disagreement and Loki began to wonder if she was trying to apologize. Emily bounced toward another box of decorations, and she started digging through them. She was moving things around, giggling as she sorted through the decorations and held up a clear ball of glass, and a stand. She continued to searxh through the box, giggling as she looked. Loki felt his body drift toward sleep as he rested his head back, the comforting touches on his neck causing him to relax. Sara had moved from his body, and was pulling his hair back and tying it off with an elastic band in several movements, making his eyes open again.
"Thank you." He replied, and she ran for the door when someone rang it and she took a package from the delivery man. They stood outside, both of them giggling and tearing the box open and they laughed in their excitement. Amy squealed in excitement, and ran over to join them and looked in the box. Loki watched them, their excitement growing as they all squealed and took bags out of it.
"Get the boys!" Emily shouted, holding three bags of garments in her hands and Sara ran into the house and dragged Mark and Robert back. Emily giggled, and threw a package with garments in it at Mark and giggled.
"What the fuck is this?" Robert asked, and Amy grinned wider as Emily handed Loki one. Sara giggled and clapped her hands as she laughed. Loki tore open the bag, and held up the vest from inside, his eyes falling on the lacing up the back of it and both girls giggled as Amy laughed.
"Male Corsets, they looked super hot on the Models in the videos. We saw them on Facebook, and want to see if they are that damn sexy in person." Emily said, and Sara laughed as Loki lay his over his lap and Mark and Robert groaned in unison. "Come on, Sara bought these for you boys. Don't make her sad now, she needs to see hot men in sexy clothes."
"Please put it on? I have got to see this." Amy said and Robert grabbed Mark and dragged him to the stairs, Loki begrudgingly stood up and walked after his friends, and he turned on Sara.
"I model this, you will owe me something Sara." He said, and she crossed her arms.
"I will buy you that ice cream you like so much." She said, and he gave her a nod. He walked up the stairs, and met Mark and Robert in his room and both men laughed as they shook their heads.
"Damn women, they really have us by the balls." Mark said, and changed his shirt for the button up that came with the corset and tucked it into his pants. Loki took off his t shirt, and started dressing in the outfit and sighed as he struggled with the buttons on his shirt.
"At least they got the sizing right." Robert said, and left his collar open. "This better get me laid."
--‐--
Sara and her girlfriends sat on the couch, waiting and giggling as they heard the boys come down the stairs. Mark stood in front of them, and they squealed as Sara threw her head back and laughed. He put his arms put, and turned around as they took in the way his waist tapered in the corset.
"Happy? Because I can't breathe." He groaned, and Emily giggled as Sara felt her cheeks flush at seeing him.
"They ARE as sexy as they looked on Facebook! Holy shit!" Emily said, and Amy giggled as Robert walked in. "God DAYUM! I am turned on."
"Irish! Behave your..." Sara started, her words cut off when Loki walked toward them in his and her mouth went dry. The neat cut if his and the dress shirt, combined with the hair, made her heart jump in her chest as she felt warmth pool in her belly. She felt the heat in her cheeks rise, and she was barely aware of Amy and Emily squealing next to her at the three men. She forced herself to look away, but the damage was done, He noticed, and now she was going to get teased over it. "Behave yourselves, we are ladies after all. They do look very nice boys, I think you can take them off now."
"Shut up Bugs, I need photographic evidence of this. Remove one thing, and I will throw hands." Emily said, and held up her phone and took pictures. Loki had his hair over the side of his face, and she stared and blushed as Amy laughed. Emily tried to get the men to pose, and Mark yurned and stuck his ass out toward them. "Work what your mama gave you! Let's see some pouts and smolder!"
"Irish, you are bad!" Amy laughed, and Sara shrugged as Mark turned around again and shook his ass at her. Amy howled in laughter, and Loki crossed his arms and shook his head. Robert grinned and held up his hands, and stood in the front of the women.
"Watch this guys, this will get all three if them." Robert said, and he unbuttoned his cuffs, rolling up his sleeves and he walked over to the three of them and sat on the coffee table. "Are you all good girls? Or does Daddy have to spank each of you?"
"Oh God!" Amy laughed, and Sara squealed as Emily kicked her feet. She was sure she was bright red, and all of them fell into a pile of laughing and giggling girls on the couch. Loki grinned, and rolled up his sleeves and Sara's heart missed a beat when he undid his belt and pulled it smoothly from the loops by dragging it over his non dominant wrist. He walked over to her, and her eyes went wide as he put the leather under her chin and used it to make her look at him.
"I believe they need a bit of a lesson." He said, the velvet purr making Emily kick her feet and squeal more. Sara backed away and hid her face in her hands, and giggled and tucked her feet up onto the couch. She was turned on, and it was becoming mortifying how bad she was getting.
Her entire being wanted to combust, and she could feel the heat in her lower belly as Loki crossed his arms and stood over them. If he made her look up, he would see how he was making her red. She had to calm back down, and she let out a cleansing breath.
"You can keep them guys, consider them a gift from me to you for helping me get tougher." Sara said, and Amy hugged her and kissed her cheek.
"Girl, we should be the ones thanking you. Because I am definately ordering another one for Dobby!" Amy said, and Sara giggled as Loki laughed and his eyes fell on her. Mark laughed, and bent over Emily and his nose touched hers as she gasped.
"Want me to wear this for you Little Girl?" He growled at her, and Emily squealed and threw her arms around his neck. She hid her face in his shoulder and she giggled and nodded, making Sara laugh as harder than she ever had before. She threw her head back, and her stomach started to hurt as tears sprang to her eyes as she shrieked in laughter at her friend's reaction.
"I have never heard you laugh like that before Bugs, are you okay?" Robert asked, and Sara leaned forward and tried to calm herself down enough to take a drink of water. She sipped from her glass, and nodded, clearing her throat as she coughed a bit.
"Yeah..." She giggled, following it with a sigh. "I'm just honestly happy for the first time in forever. It's really nice."
Mark stood up, and wrapped her up in a hug, pulling her off the couch and knocking the wind from her. She managed to get an arm free to hug him back, and he rocked her back and forth. She didn't realize it for a few moments, but he was shaking as he hugged her. He let her go, she was confused as Robert sat down on the couch and Amy shifted a bit.
"I told them group about your attempt, that night after, you got the news about... your parents." Amy said, and Loki stopped cold. The smile on his face fell and Sara fidgeted with her fingers as Amy looked at him. He let out a long breath, his splinted fingers weaving between the fingers of his other hand the best he could and he stood up and walked up the stairs. Everyone got quiet, and his retreating steps echoed as she shot from her seat and followed him.
"Loki!" She called out and she met him on the second floor landing, and looked back down at their friends and waved them away as she stared at his back. "Let's go up to the office to talk about this. It's neutral ground."
"Of course." He said, and walked to the next set of stairs, and she looked back down at them. She nodded, and Mark gave her a thumbs up as she smiled at them.
"Go and uh... finish decorating, just put the spiderwebs up so the tall guys do not walk into them. Robert can be used for measuring that stuff, he is tall." Sara said, and they nodded, Sara fished the house keys out of her jeans pocket and walked up to the office. He was waiting for her outside the door, putting his belt back on, and she unlocked the door. He walked in and took his usual seat, his face filled with regret and she sat next to him.
"Loki, I want you to know that my suicide attempt had nothing to do with you. I want to get that out of the way, in a way, it was all me. One hundred percent me, and it was a bad move on my part." She said, and his eyes met hers as she talked. A tear traced down his cheek, and she reached over to the desk and pulled a tissue out of the silver box and gave it to him.
"Sara, you do not have to spare me..." He started, and she shook her head and took his good hand in both of hers to get him to listen to her. She squeezed the hand, and she smiled at him and she let it go to walk over to the desk and unlocked the drawer and took out some papers in a plain envlope she had hidden in it. She handed it to him, and he opened it and read the handwritten letter she had drafted before she swallowed an entire bottle of painkillers. His hand shook as it held the page, and his eyes read each word in her precise script.
"You were terminal, you had only a few months left to live." He said, and he folded the letter and put it back in the envelope. She nodded, and she took his hand again and held it. He lay the letter on her desk, and he looked back at her.
"I was in a very dark place, and for way too long. The years of abuse, telling myself that there was nothing better, my insecurities, and seeing the Ghosts in the house. Being told, that I only had a few months left, were just one last kick in the teeth for me." She said, her voice almost a whisper at her last words. "I wanted to take back something, get some control, so I swallowed most of a bottle of painkillers and sent out a text to Amy. Her Dad found me, and drove me to the hospital.
"I owe Sheriff Rogers a debt then." He said, and she looked down at their hands. His was so big compared to hers, and she could feel the calloused on his fingers as she nodded.
"I owe you one too." She whispered, and his eyes went wide. "When you came, you saved my life in a way, that potion gave me a future that I couldn't see happening because... because of the cancer. I had nothing after that news from the doctors, I couldn't see myself ever being happy with anyone, it was the worst... lowest point in my entire life. But you, in a roundabout way, gave me back my life, and... as crazy as this sounds, you gave me back hope. I owe you alot for that, and I want you to know that whatever happened in New York, it had nothing to do with that moment in my life." She said, and she smiled at him. His green eyes were rimmed in red, and he wiped them with the tissue as he hugged her and she smiled. "You taught me more than how to defend myself, you taught me how to be free. And I am so sorry for using that thing in your hand against you that day. Friends don't do shit like that, and I was wrong for what I did. I feel like a complete asshole, and worse than shit for doing that to you."
"I care about all of you Sara, and in a way, all of you taught me how good it feels to be a part of something. And, in another way, that scars can heal, given enough time." He said, and he rested his injured hand over both of hers. She nodded and let him go, getting up, and she walked around to her desk. She opened another drawer, and took out a small ring of keys, handing them to him. He looked at them, and he reached out for them. "What are these?"
"Keys to the house you live in. One opens every door including this one, and there is one for this desk. You live here, you don't deserve to be locked out of anything. If you want to come up here and use the laptop in the desk, you can, but you are the only one with the key to your room. That is your private space, and I will respect that, the same way you respect mine." She said, and his eyes went fixed on hers as he held the keys in his hand and slipped his index finger through the ring. He gave her a genuine smile, and she walked around the desk and hugged him. "Let's burn that letter, let it go. I think it is time to move on, and... just live."
"I do like this idea, but I would like to remove this corset first. I... I am not used to wearing restrictive clothing anymore." He said, and she laughed and hugged him again. Her hands rested on his waist, and she looked into his eyes and shook her head.
"Go ahead, but it does look super hot on you. I am so wanting to have you wear that around town, to find you a girlfriend." She said, and he gave her a thin smile at the statement. He let out a breath, and tried to look happy as his eyes studied hers, and she looked down. "Do you want to try with us being a thing, like take things really slow and see where it goes?"
"I would, but I don't want you to get hurt, because our hearts are fools." He said, and she nodded, looking down at her feet and she laughed as she turned to go back down the stairs to see what chaos her friends had created. She was swallowing her feelings again, and she knew the practice was tearing her up. She took in a deep breath, stopping in the doorway and she shook her head.
She was rolling the dice, it was now or never.
"I want to be with you." She blurted out, and she heard him stand up. She turned around, and he blinked in shock at her. "You make me smile, and I feel sometimes like... like you understand what I am saying when we talk. You read, and you are a gentleman, and... and I think you are really listening to me, instead of just waiting to talk. I... I look at you sometimes, and you just feel right, like going home after a long time away. I don't want to loose my chance though, so I'm taking it here. I really think you are amazing, and I would like to try us being together."
"Sara, I do enjoy your company very much. I am just worried for you, and how much you could loose." He reasoned, and she looked down and nodded. Her throat burned, and she wanted to cry from being rejected and she turned a bit to walk away.
"Maybe someday then." She said, and he grabbed her hand and held it to stop her.
"I can't let you go." He said, his voice a shaky whisper and her eyes fixed on his. "I want to, but I cannot do it." He moved closer to her, a fraction of an inch between them, but she thought it was a canyon.
She stared up at him, and his lips lowered to hers and he gave her the sweetest kiss she had ever experienced in her life. It was a whisper of a brush of his lips, a breath of air across hers and his arms circled her as he held her. Her breath catching in her chest as he gave her more than the experimental taste, and he kissed her a bit deeper. Her legs felt weak, and she held onto his shoulder as he held her up. His fingers on his good hand caressed her cheek, and she tipped her head to the side as he tightened his other arm around her. She was holding onto him, and he backed her to the door. It banged against the doorstop, and she jumped and looked back at it.
Slowly, he moved away from her, and her eyes focused on his. He licked his lower lip, and they were silent for a long time as she swallowed and looked up at him.
"I..." She stammered out, and her brain lost all reason as he nodded at her. She was amazed that he had no way of speaking, that his brain had short circuted as well and she touched his plale cheek with trembling fingers. "Is this real? Please let it be."
"I never want to let you go, I would crawl to you, beg for you. Before all of this, there was only a pain in me that yearned for the nothingness of oblivion Sara, and now... you are in my mind all the time. A light I cannot shut out, and I want to burn in it." He confessed, his voice a whisper, and he held the hand against his cheek with his injured one and he turned his face to kiss the palm.
She closed the space and kissed him again, his arms around her and she never wanted to let go. It felt so very right, and the kiss deepened as she clung to him. He held her against him, and she let him slipped his tounge into her mouth. He backed her against the wall, and she gasped as his arms caged her in and their lips moved against eachothers. His hand was in her hair, cradling her head, and she wanted him. They were so into their moment together, that they didn't hear Emily bounce up the stairs and they both turned as she squeaked at the scene in front of her. She giggled, bouncing on her toes and shouted back down the stairs as she ran.
"They are fine, they are just making out!" She shouted, and Sara's mouth fell open. She let out an incredulous laugh, her mouth wide open and she leaned into his chest and he hugged her around the shoulders.
"It's about fucking time! I was about to steal the Sheriff's handcuffs and lock then together to get them to admit they wanted eachother!" Robert shouted up the stairs, and he laughed back at her. She was blushing furiously, her ears turning bright red, and even feeling hot from the blood in them.
"Oh God' Teeth, they are so immature." Lok groaned, and she laughed harder and he looked down at her with a crooked grin and a raised eyebrow. She smiled, and they both started laughing as she held him back. "I still like their companionship though, does that make me mad?"
"No, it shows you are maturing. Nice to know we have their approval though." She said, and she let him go. She walked to the stairs, and he closed the office door behind him. She started descending, and stopped and looked at him a moment. "You are really sexy in that, I just had to say that."
"I will have to wear it again, but only if you wear that lovely gown you bought. The light blue one, with the shimmering sleeves." He replied, and she laughed as she walked down the stairs. She smiled at her friends, amd yelped as Emily grabbed her and pulled her into the dining room. She turned on her, and Amy joined her, Emily raised a finger and glared.
"Spill! I want details!" She whispered, and Sara laughed as Amy tried to free her from the wrath of the redhead. The Strawberry Blonde friend laughed, and gave her a hug from behind and rocked her back and forth.
"Irish, only an actual God is good enough for our Sara. I approve." Amy said, and Sara smiled and laughed as Mark walked through to finish changing out the candles and arrange skulls in the center of the dining room table. He added a vase of black roses to the side table, and changed the candles there out too. "Besides, she gets the fun of doing couples costumes this year now. And we get to help her pick them out."
"I forgot about that." Sara said, and hoped that Loki would go along with it. She had always wanted to dress up for the Costume Contest at the Moose Lodge downtown, she let out a deep breath. Loki walked in in his regular clothes, and was holding a skull wreath as he looked for a place to hang it. He raised an eyebrow at them, and Emily pointed to the hearth and she grinned.
"It would look good over the fireplace, there is a nail there from a Christmas wreath that always ends up up there." Emily chirped, and he nodded and walked over to hang up the wreath. He appraised his work, and he adjusted it before leaving to help elsewhere.
"I don't think he would like doing that, this is his first human Halloween." Sara said, and he turned, and looked at the three girls and frowned.
"Do what?" He asked, and he hung the wreath up and Robert came in and started putting up spiderwebs everywhere he could.
--
She sat with her on the libraray chair with a book, turning the pages when he walked in. She smiled up at him and he sat in the opposite one and opened the book he was reading. She shifted under the blanket, and he looked up at her and silently moved to the side in the large chair to give her room. They could both fit in it comfortably, and she blushed and moved to join him as they both read.
Her heart leapt, and he rested his free hand around her shoulders, and used his thumb to turn his page as he read. She finally had her dream, and she was giddy with joy. She arranged the throw, covering them both, and he smiled a bit as she opened her book again.
"I almost think you are excited about all this." He teased, and she blushed as she focused on the page in front of her. He traced his fingers up and down her arm, almost making her shiver and she rested her head against him a bit as she sighed.
"I am." She said, and she turned her page. The scent of the cologne he was wearing surrounded her as the man obsessed with the innocent woman finally kissed her, and she smiled at the scene. It began to get really steamy, and she glanced up at Loki to see him focused on his book amd turning the page with his thumb again. That thumb was nimble, and really long as she watched it work. All his fingers were long, and she had to swallow the nervous lump in her throat.
She remembered that night, and what she saw. His perfect body with his back to her, and how it moved with so much grace. She became lost in her memory, and began to imagine that she was the girl in her book, and he was the man who was with her. His lips kissing her, his hands tearing her shirt open, and making her gasp in shock. She blushed, a warmth beginning to grow between her legs, and she tried to clear her brain. She kept imaging them though, and the scene took on an even more steamy moment with him giving her oral sex. Her stomach tightened and she hat to turn the page faster as she read on, and she had to really work hard to keep her poker face on.
She turned the page, and almost groaned out loud that the author had cut the scene short. The man leaving the girl on a desk to recover. She started to get a bit embarrassed about the cuddling and reading, and she shifted her legs a bit to hide her near humiliation. What if he saw she was reading a smutty part? Would he think she wanted this stuff? Would he use it as an excuse to try and get into her pants?
She needed a different book.
She turned the page again, and heard him chuckle at a scene in the book he was reading. He had to stop, actually laughing and she watched him.
"Apologies, this part was rather humorous." He said, and she saw that he was reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, he had to set the book down a moment and take his arm from around her. He collected himself, and picked up the book again, and opened it.
"What part? The whole book is really funny, I have the whole series." She asked, and he smiled at her.
"The part about the terrible poetry, I almost felt for the characters myself." He said, and she smiled as she returned to her book. He grinned and turned the page back to the scene she was embarrassed by, and he held it open and she wanted to die internally. "I was a bit distracted by that particular passage in your book for a moment though. It rather held my attention for a bit. I may have to read that book next."
"Kill me now." She groaned, and she turned back to her page and heard him laugh. She looked back at him, and he gave her a sly smile.
"Never, don't ask for it again." He said, and she smiled back and they snuggled and read their books together. She rested her head again, her eyes on the pages, and getting lost in the story.
