Hey guys, Kurama here with the remade version of Pokemon: New Life Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
"Talk, now!" someone says
"Go Golduck, Attack!" Someone says.
"Thoughts," Someone says.
Let's begin!
-Now-
Now that Cleavor's Stats are down, I can have Gyarados attack him and hand it to the authorities, which is the Pokemon Association if the anime is anything to go by.
...
Or maybe I can catch him so that Professor Oak could study him and figure out if there are any more Alpha Pokemon like him.
But for that to happen, I need to survive this casualty first and then I can plan things ahead.
"Gyarados, use Rain Dance and then use Ice Fang!" I order my newly evolved Gyarados, who lets out a defeaning roar in response to my command.
He then fires a ball of water into the sky as rain begins to pour down exponetially.
Pikachu joins the fight by hitting Kleavor with a powerful Thunder Bolt as Gyarados bites the Alpha Pokemon, who then freezes after being hit by the Ice Fang.
This is my chance to capture him.
Gravbing a Pokéball from my pocket, I then throw the empty red and white sphere to the downed Alpha pokemon and it clicks open, sucking the pokemon inside it within a beam of red light and shutting with a loud click, the white button in the middle glowing crimson red.
It begins to shake.
Once, twice, three times, four times, five, six, and finally after the seventh, it let loose a click and the capture was a success.
"Sweet fucking SHIT! We did it! Ahh, my brain hurts." I laugh hysterically, clutching my head a bit as the adrenaline fades away.
I take out my phone and scna Kleavor's Pomeball to see what I'm gonna be working with in the future.
"Kleavor, the Axe Pokemon. A violent creature that fells towering trees with its crude axes and shields itself with hard stone. If one should chance upon this Pokémon in the wilds, one's only recourse is to flee. Gender: Female, Height: 1.8 m (5′11″)- Attacks Known: Leer, Quick Attack, Silver Wind, Aerial Ace, Fury Cutter, Falsp Swipe, Smack Down, Double Team, Double Hit, Slash, Stealth Rock, Air Slash, Swords Dance, Stone Axe, X-Scissor, Focus Energy, Agility and Rock Slide. Egg moves: None. This Kleavor has the hidden Ability Sharpness and is level 38.
"Fucking unreal!" I exclaim out loud, watching as Kleavor's Pokeball fades away in white light, headed for Professor Oak's lab.
From the moveset to the Ability, I could solo the first three gyms with just Kleavor alone.
Anyway, I need to get everyone in their Pokeballs and get to Pewter City to at least get my first gym badge.
-Timeskip-
"Finally." I mutter, sitting in the room I rented for the night.
The Pewter City Gym was only a mere five minute or so walk from the Pokemon Centre, and only that long because I had to make a few turns since it was in a bit of a almostn noticeable area right in the centre of the town.
Seeing it up close and personal though, I had to admit. It was bland, just really a big rock fashioned into a building.
But somehow, it made it really charming since it was gym dedicated to the rock type.
The large red arch hanging over the boulder like building to help draw attention to it and heavy doors of the same colour stand out quite nicely as well I have to admit. Adds a little dash of colour to an otherwise fully drab sight.
Honestly, it all just kinds works together. Like, it's a big rock, it isn't supposed to be grand or majestic. Simple works well.
Standing in front of it, in between the path leading up to it bordered by large boulders, I have to admit, I'm getting quite psyched.
Making my way forward, I pushed on the heavy doors. I strained for a moment, arms bulging.
Slowly they begin to open up, and after nearly five seconds, they creak to a stop fully open and I stepped in.
I jump a bit as they slam shut behind me as soon as I enter, but I'd already got one jump scare today so I'm more or less ready for another.
Who goes there?" A deep, soft voice asks gruffly a bit ahead of me.
Suddenly, light flickered on a good fifty feet from me, and there he was, just as dark skinned as Flint with spiky brown hair and narrowed slit like eyes.
Brock, sitting calm as can be on a small stage like pedestal.
"So you're Brock huh?" I eye him with interest, doing my best to curb any excitement that tried to flood my veins and the butterflies that threatened to blossom in my stomach and try to make me gush over him.
Even now, it's still a bit surreal to see some of my favourite childhood characters in the flesh.
"My name's Nathan Pendragon and I'm here for a gym battle."
Brock looks at me for a moment, "..Is this your first gym battle?" He asks.
I give him a nod in response to his question.
"I'm warning you now, a gym battle is far different from a normal battle. Gym Battles are for Pokemon League authorisation and for raising the newest generation of trainers that will go on to form the backbone of our society."
"Yeah, it's my first one." I shrug.
Okay, how the hell was he able to tell it was my first time in a gym battle.
Heck, from what I remember, he noticed the same with Ash in canon.
"How long have you been a trainer?" He asks, pushing himself up from his cross legged sitting position.
"Two days." I answer.
"Not even a full week?" Brock scoffs, "You're making far too light of the gym challenge. You won't win."
And if I was a normal starting out trainer, I'd agree that he was right.
"Try making that claim after you've seen my pokemon in action." I scoff right back, crossing my arms over my chest and tilting my chin up at him defiantly.
..Honestly, I have to wonder has my mentality been affected at all alongside my body change?
Because it's been so easy to fall back into old petty and defiant habits I used to have as a teenager.
Sure, even as an adult, I wasn't fully rid of them, but I feel like they're much more instinctive reactions now.
"Suit yourself," Brock shakes his head, "As a gym leader, I have to accept any and all challenges. Just don't regret it when you see how daunting things really are against a gym leader."
Then, before I could say anything else, the dark skinned teenager raises his hand up and snaps his fingers.
The lights come on instantly and the gym shines brightly.
And the walls on each side of me pull up to reveal rocks, lots and lots of rocks that began to slide out.
The ground rumblez beneath me and I almost stumble.
It's probably only thanks to balancing that heavy ass backpack of mine for so long lately that I'm able to stay balanced.
Bit by bit the rocks slid out from each side, atop a pair of sliding granite floors that connected in the middle of the room to form the rocky battlefield I remember from canon.
As soon as it fully settles together, Brock jumps off of his pedestal and lands right at the edge of the battlefield brandishing a gleaming pokeball in his hand that he points towards me.
"We will be battling in a one on one battle until one sides pokemon can no longer continue," he tells me.
"Let the battle begin!" The referee declares, winding up his arm.
My hand went to Bulbasaur's pokeball on my belt and I grabbed it, enlarging it to fit in my palm and I copied Brock, winding up my arm.
"Onix, come on out!" Brock shouts, pitching his hand forward and releasing his pokemon.
"Let's rev it up, Bulbasaur!" I shout, using Yusei Fudo's iconic line of the anime before releasing the Kanto Starter in rapid succession.
"Trainer, you have the first move. Let the battle begin!" The referee shouts, giving me the go to start off this battle.
"Let the battle begin!" The referee declares, winding up his arm.
My hand went to Bulbasaur's pokeball on my belt and I grabbed it, enlarging it to fit in my palm and I copied Brock, winding up my arm.
"Quick, use Iron Tail to deflect them all!"
Onix's tail would then glow a dark grey as he would hut all of the seeds, destroying them in one go.
"Rock Throw!" Brock counters, seeming a bit distressed.
Opening its mouth, bright white light shone within the giant pokemon maw and a split moment later, a barrage of rocks the size of my torso shot out, aimed at Bulbasaur.
"Propel yourself with Vine Whip." I order Bulbasaur.
"Now then, full power Seed Bomb!"
Bulbasaur would then fire a green ball of energy that hits Onix in the face as it then falls over, unable to continue.
Onix!" Brock calls out in worry, running over to his pokemon and checks it over.
For a moment, I feel my chest tighten with worry myself before Brock sighs in relief and returns Onix to its pokeball.
"Good work Onix, take a nice long rest."
I do the same with Bulbasaur, also congratulating him on getting our first badge.
"You're a good trainer Nathan so it is thanks to the bond between you and your Pokemon that I'm able to give you the Boulder Badge. Here's the TM for Rock Throw as well as 24 500 Pokédollars." Brock says, handing me said things.
I bid him farewell and head off to the Pokemon Center to get Bulbasaur checked.
I rent a room for the night, seeing as Bulbasaur and the others are getting treated overnight and plus, I could the sleep after everything that's happened.
Before that though, I trade off both Raticate and Gyarados, who were the least injured due to their evolutions to Professor Oak, who gives Caterpie and Weedle at my request.
Since they can evolve quickly, I can train them and at least be ready for when I have to face Misty.
Bulbasaur or any Gass-type can do the job but it's always to be extra prepared for situations like this.
Plan made, I then fall asleep like a light.
