The Quartermaster made his way to the front of the group as he led them farther down the tunnel with his torch. Jack was not too far behind him, as well as Faye and Carmella. They came to a stop at what was a stone wall. "Aha! Dead end" proclaimed Jack.
"Dead. End." Blackbeard muttered as he stopped to look at the wall, the others making their way around them.
"Dead end," Jack repeated as he turned to look at Blackbeard.
"Jack, I'm starting to think you don't know where you're going," Angelia said with a sigh and a slight smirk.
"It is not the destination so much as the journey, they say," Jack replied, trying to be smooth. He then went back towards the wall as he motioned with his hands for them to bring the chalices. "Chalices, if you please." Blackbeard motioned to the Quartermaster to give him the chalices. He opened up a bag and let Jack take them out. Jack then held them up above his head. "Stand back." People started to move away and they watched in anticipation. The girls took position on either side of him. After they were good enough away, Jack went and clinked them together. Letting the bell-like tone ripple through the passageway. Faye and Carmella looked at each other as they waited for something to happen.
Angelica was getting a little annoyed when nothing happened, she cleared her throat. "Jack...have you ever, in fact…" She said as she moved closer to him once more. "...seen with your own eyes…the Fountain of Youth?" She asked.
Jack lowered the chalices and pretended to play dumb, "I'm sorry, could you repeat the question please?"
"Quartermaster," Blackbeard spoke to the man before the sound of a gun being cocked.
"No, no!" Jack said quickly as he held up his filled hands to block the shot. A shot was fired and ricocheted off the metal chalices. The girls ducked to avoid being shot at. The Quartermaster was cocking his gun again. "Wait, wait! Wait." After a moment of silence, Jack brought the two chalices up to his eye level and muttered what was written on them. "Aqua…de Vida."
"Water of Life," Carmella translated. Then there was a low rumbling that occurred afterwards.
Water was starting to pull towards the wall before it started to climb it and merge in the middle of the ceiling. Faye watched with amazement and a small smile on her face as it appeared. The others looked in shock. Out from the mouth of the tunnel that came in from, a bird swooped in and into the recently formed pool of water. A few crewmembers gave a shocked gasp. Jack smiled as it worked. Angelica just shook her head.
"Master Scrum…do you mind?" Jack asked him to come forward and when he did, Scrum took the chalices.
"Squire?" Scrum asked. Jack then motioned for him to kneel down so he can use him as a stepping stool to reach the water. All the while Blackbeard watched on. Jack then drew his sword and pushed it through the water. Only for it to suck the sword and him up into its depths. People gasped. Without hesitation Faye grabbed Carmella by the wrist and with a small burst of wind launched them into the pool of water after Jack. On the other side, was an enclosed space that had hid a small island of rock. On that island is a round archway with a bowl in the center and water dripping into it. In all, it looked like ruins of an old temple that was hidden away by time.
Faye and Carmella looked around in awe, but Jack started to make his way to the center archway. The others soon followed in the trio's footsteps and started to rise from the water that was previously above them. "So beautiful," Angelica said as she looked at the hidden beauty. They all started to follow Jack as the sounds of wildlife echoed around them. On the stone island there were skeletons crawling towards the center, towards the bowl. Jack slowly side steps from a few, as Faye shook her head in sorrow from all the lost souls. Carmella wondered how long the place had been abandoned for.
Jack made it to the small spring in the center and reached in to feel the water. Blackbeard spoke up as he pointed to Jack, "Sparrow, I'll be the first to taste those waters."
Angelica had looked behind Blackbeard in a look of concern, "Father…" she said.
Blackbeard barely looked over and said, "The one-legged man?" He stated. The Quartermaster and the crew turned to look in that direction.
Angelica then turned towards Jack and the girls, "You brought him here," She accused.
"Would I do that?" Jack said sarcastically with his arms wide open.
"Yes," Carmella stated simply.
"Edward Teach!" Barbossa shouted from the entrance that was laced with fog and hanging vines. "For crimes committed on the high seas, by the authority granted me by HIs Majesty the King..and with a goodly amount of personal satisfaction…I hereby place you in the custody of the court, and declare you to be my prisoner." By the end of his winded speech he was halfway to the rest of the people there.
Blackbeard started to make his way down the island and towards Barbossa, "My trick's out, is that it?" He asked sarcastically.
"Such crimes do include, but are not limited to piracy, treason, murder, torture of the most heinous sort, including the brutal theft of one used, twisted, hairy right leg, as well as kidnapping." Barbossa continued as Jack and Angelica moved a little closer to Blackbeard. His last statement had his attention briefly turned to the girl's direction. Faye and Carmella snickered a little at the description of Barbossa's fallen leg and the tone he had used to describe it. Barbossa then unsheathed his sword and got ready to attack.
"You…dare face this sword?" Blackbeard asked sarcastically as he pulled out his own sword.
"This far away from your ship? Aye," Barbossa answered.
"Aye. That be the cold breath of fate I feel down my nape," Blackbeard said, "But I'll have one last fight, by God." He said as he pointed a finger upwards. "Kill 'em all!" Blackbeard ordered as the men began to charge with their acknowledgement of yelling to follow.
As people started to bring out their swords, Jack quickly spoke up, "Whoa, whoa! Hang on a minute." He got them to stop for a moment. "I just..I just need to understand something." He then made his way down towards the group. "Right, so, you will fight against them, they will fight against you." As he was asking things, he was making gestures to each side of the battle. "All on account of him wanting to kill him? Where is the sense? Exactly." Scrum looked confused and weakly shrugged unsure of what to say when Jack looked at him. "I say, let them fight each other while we lay back."
Faye just shook her head annoyed. Carmella rolled her eyes.
"Watch, have a drink, place some wagers! Eh?" Jack continued as he got looks from both Blackbeard and Barbossa.
Scrum was starting to like the idea as he nodded and gave a small smile. "Aye" He said as he sheathed his sword.
"Yeah…that's not going to happen," Carmella muttered as she watched her uncle turn his attention back to Blackbeard and their father-figure.
It was only a split second before Barbossa shouted, "Kill 'em!"
Blackbeard growled, "No quarter!" Then the sound of guns being fired as well as the clashing of swords soon entered the air. Faye was using her wind to knock a few men down that came anywhere close to the two and tried to keep some away from Jack. Carmella pulled out her sword to defend herself, all while having the water pull on her opponent's shoes to trip them. Bodies were being thrown into the water as battles erupted. One of Barbossa's men was gutted and he fell on him with a groan.
"Get off me!" Barbossa growled as he shoved the body away. As another soldier fell, Phillip found his chance to set himself free, by using the fallen's sword to go at the ropes. He didn't get to the end of it when the cabin boy came and cut the ropes for him so he could be free. To repay the favor of being set free, he stopped a man from killing the boy, but in return got a slash through stomach. He staggered as he fled from the battle and towards the walls of the enclosed space.
As Angelica was fighting off men, she called to Scrum. "Scrum, the chalices!" Scrum was next to her and threw the sack that held the chalices to her before continuing his battle. "And the tear! Follow!" She commanded him. Scrum was able to push away the man he was fighting before following the lady.
Jack stopped Scrum from going too far as he asked for the tear. "The tear, that's a good lad," He said.
Scrum just looked at him, "I'm more afraid of her than I am of you." Scrum and Jack then started to battle before Jack outsmarted him and was able to get the bag that held the tear. But when he turned to leave, Angelica was behind him and had her sword out .
"Hand it over. There's a good lad," She said to him as she repeated what he had said to Scrum. Then Scrum helped Angelica out by having his sword be on the other side.
"The chalices, if you please," Jack asked nicely.
Angelica chuckles, "Sorry, Jack. I told you, I need years. And now, yours will do."
Jack then threw the tear into the air, making Angelica and Scrum get distracted by trying to get the tear. Angelica tried to throw her sword to Scrum so he could deal with Jack, but as she managed to catch the tear, Jack was able to grab her sword and was now pointing both hers and his sword at the two of them. He then threw her sword in the air. Angelica then threw the tear in the air once more before calling out Scrum to grab it but Jack got the tear back. As Scrum looked dazed, Jack was able to kick the satchel out of his hands and it went through the archway and onto the ground where the chalices rolled out. They went separate ways as they tried to grab at the chalice. On his way to the chalices, Carmella ran by him. He slipped the tear to her for safe keeping as she then rejoined the battle.
Meanwhile, away from the battle, Phillip was making his way to the Mermaid pool where his beloved was. He managed to stumble to where she was trapped and fell to his stomach by the waters edge. "Syrena…" He said as he gently held the sides of her face. She didn't respond as she was really weak. "Oh God, you will not take her." Phillip muttered as he looked upon her. "If you have taken her, you will give her back," He silently begged and demanded. "Give her back," He pants as he pleads to his god. He was shaking and tears were in the corner of his eyes. He whispers "Give her back, please..please!" He untied the knot that held her there and above water.
Syrena slowly opens her eyes to look at him. She saw the distress in his eyes and made a decision on what to do before going into the water and away from him, leaving him there as he held onto his wound.
Back at the battle, Barbossa and Blackbeard were still hacking at each other. Blackbeard was able to cut down his cane, making Barbossa stagger.
Blackbeard chuckles, "I expected fate to put up more of a fight, eh?" He taunts. Barbossa then punted him with a piece of his broken cane. The two then started going at it again, until Blackbeard kicked Barbossa's peg leg and made him tumble onto the ground. As Barbossa was making his way out of the water, Blackbeard muttered, "I will not have that smile on your face as I strike you down."
Barbossa then hit his sword with his own, "Take a gander, Edward Teach," He responded as the Spaniards started to come in from where they once entered. Meanwhile Jack had grabbed the chalices before Angelica and Scrum could. Edward Teach then continued to look around to see that they were surrounded.
Nearby, the Lieutenant was holding up the Great Britain's Flag as he stated, "This land is hereby forever claimed in the glorious name of His Majesty King George…" Before he got shot.
The man who fired the shot, gave his gun to one of his subordinate's. "Someone make a note of that man's bravery. "
Carmella and Faye paused in their battle to see all the soldiers around the group. They overheard the man and both rolled their eyes. Faye muttered, "Really?"
"What do you expect? The guy looks like a noble at least." Carmella stated.
The man then made his way towards where Jack, the girls and Angelica were. As he got closer, Jack gave her the chalices and practically handed her over to the spaniard. Jack grabbed the girls and walked a little away from the duo.
"Señorita, the chalices, por favor," The man spoke to Angelica with his arm outstretched. When she didn't do it right away, he looked over to his subordinates and two of them went on either side of her and grabbed her by the arms. He then proceeded to rip the chalices out of her hands before walking to the rock that was situated in the middle of the water. "Only God can grant eternal life, not this pagan water," He called to the rest of the group before dropping the chalices and proceeded to stomp on them. He then picked them up and threw them into the water away from the group. "Men, destroy this profane temple!" He ordered as the men shouted in return.
Blackbeard watched in shock as his Quartermaster shouted, "The Fountain!" Men with ropes came to where the rock archway was and swung at the columns that were nearby.
The Spaniard man then brought out his sword and pointed it at Blackbeard, "You are a fool. You seek in this place what only faith can provide."
"Faith? In faith, there is light enough to see but darkness enough to blind…" Blackbeard's reply was cut short when he received a cut and it made him drop his sword. "What devilry is this?"
Barbossa then stabbed him in the gut, leaving him to groan. "For the Pearl," Barbossa whispered to him.
"What have you done?!" Angelica cried as Barbossa dropped Blackbeard. Angelica was running up to her father.
"Angelica! Don't! It's poison!" Jack cried out to her. Angelica then takes out the sword but manages to cut her palm and she just looks at it in shock.
"I"m not such the fool to take on Blackbeard," Barbossa said, "Without a little venomous advantage."
Angelica then looked behind her at Jack, "Jack!" He just stood there before running off as the pillars started to come down. He went to the water where he was searching for the chalices.
All the while, Barbossa spoke up once more, "I claim Blackbeard's ship and crew, and this sword, payment for my missing limb!" As he turned around to leave, rocks were crumbling around. The girls did get to give a goodbye before he left, with a promise to see each other again soon. Jack kept looking as he went from one section of the water to the next. Battles were still being fought as he kept searching.
With another mighty heave-ho, the last pillar came falling down. It crushed the zombified Quartermaster and Gunner as well as destroyed the archway that held the fountain. As the dust rained down, the Spaniard crossed his heart in a blessing before ordering his men to leave. Faye and Carmella watched in sadness and disbelief as the once beautiful ruin was now destroyed.
