This is my VERY first story, so please expect a lot of errors and possible spelling mistakes.

For people who are wondering, yes I read all about the controversy regarding the creators of who made Poppy Playtime and to be honest, I've been put off in making this story, but I decided that I should just give this a go after reading the only two other Poppy Playtime stories on this website. These stories in question are made by "The Delta Player", and "Thisisnotthefaceofmercy" so please, give their stories a read as well as they gave me the inspiration to make this.

This story is going to be a little different from the game, what I mean is that I may have to add a little bit of details that aren't in the game to fit my story but majority of the game's plot will be the same.

But without a further ado, enjoy the story!

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN POPPY PLAYTIME. All of the characters of Poppy's Playtime are owned by MOB Games, NOT ME. I only own the story and my characters in the story. Thank you.

-Chapter 1-

May 18, 2003

College sucks. Finals sucks. Life just sucks in general.

That's what Jay thought as he laid in bed looking at the ceiling. He recently failed two of his classes in college and he knows his parents are going to chew his ears off when he tells them the news. 'At least it's summer now.' He thought as his finals for the semester have just finished a week ago, so he has about 3 months of freedom before having to go back for a new semester in September.

He always loved technology, so attempting to be a computer engineer was one of his top priorities, but he didn't know college can be sooooo tiring. Procrastinating when he is going to finish his work, constantly putting everything on the side is what put the final nail in the coffin as he didn't know what to do when the time came for the finals. Sure he wasn't stupid, but the constant procrastination is what caused him to fail two of his final exams in which he had no idea what they were about.

And now he lays there a week later with nothing to do, having little to no friends, his parents out shopping at the moment, he just stares at the ceiling, finding it to be the most interesting thing to do at the moment.

"It's only the second semester of my first year and I am already struggling this hard." He says, finally sitting up from his bed. What to do, what to do, as he taps his fingers against his chin thinking hard. Go for a walk? Nah, get something to eat? Not hungry. With a heavy sigh, Jay decides that watching TV is the best thing to do at the moment.

Getting up and grabbing the remote from the table, he turns on the TV and sits on his bed again. Flipping through the channels, seeing if there is anything to watch at all. "Boring *click* boring *click* boring..." this went on for a while as apparently during this time at 1:00 p.m there's nothing to watch on TV, and that's when he had a bright idea.

Getting a summer job.

Of course, it won't be that easy, many 18 year olds like him will be scrambling to get a summer job as well. So he acted quickly, getting off his bed, he opened the front door and walk out to where the newspaper kid always throws the rolled up newspaper at his parent's front driveway, hoping to quickly see if there is any job opportunities, he snatched the bundle of paper and quickly walked back inside his parent's house.

Opening the newspaper up, he skimmed the job section to see if there were any available positions for him to take, too his utter disappointment, the page mostly consisted of random ads and jumbles of news he didn't care about. Not only that, the job sections barely had any good positions, the stores were either too far or the pay was just bad in general. "Well shit, there goes my opportunity at finding something to do." He said, and with a sigh of disappointment, he sat back on his bed, back to square one as he had nothing to do again.

And that's when he heard something from his TV to his left.

"HEY BOYS AND GIRLS..." an energetic voice from the TV said, "...are YOU looking for something to do over the summer!", 'Yea,' Jay thought, "well look no further then as we have NEW opening positions for our Playtime Co. factory!"

Holy shit, the timing couldn't have been any better. Jay's eyes were now glued to the television as he listen intently to what the man was saying.

"We currently have various positions as cashier, store clerk, stockers, and many more, if you are 18 and older, we heavily advise that you call the number on screen right now and apply for the various positions we have at the most magical toy store on Earth!" Jay was ecstatic at the moment as he quickly grabbed a pen and paper and jotted down the number that was on the screen as he continued to listen to the ad, "...anybody who applies for a job position will be able to get an employee's discount at our various gift shops, so go tell a friend or family member right now and don't forget to call the number on screen! And remember people, what's the time? PLAYTIME!"

As the final words on the screen play out, Jay was already heading for the phone on the wall as he hastily pressed in the numbers that he has written down on the paper. As the phone was ringing, Jay suddenly realized that he has almost no job experience whatsoever, except for that time when he worked as a clerk for a grocery store, but that only lasted a week, 'Uhh shit... what do I say, do I lie saying I have a ton of job experience? No that's a bad idea, they probably will ask for some proof, fuck I should have thought this thro-' his thoughts were cut off as he heard a female voice come through the phone.

"Helloooo, thank you for calling Playtime Co., the most magical place on Earth, how may I help you today?"

He tried not to stutter but failed as he responded with, "Y-Yes, hello my name is Jay Sanford and I saw your ad on the television, I was wondering if I can apply for one of your cashier p-position for the gift shops."

There was a pause for a moment, he was wondering if he messed up or something but the voice came back seconds later, "Alright Mr. Sanford, do you have any previous job experience before applying for this position?", "Uh... yes I worked as a clerk for a store around my house...", "Alright that's good to hear! We here at Playtime Co. strive for the best workers, so if you don't mind me asking, how long did you work as a store clerk for?"

Fuck.

"..."

"Mr. Sanford, are you there?"

"YES, I worked for a c-couple of months, I only stopped because I had to focus on my college courses, of which I passed of course...", Jay was already sweating bullets at this point as he didn't know if she was going to believe him or not for his very obvious lie.

There was another pause as he didn't hear anything from the phone, he considered just ending the call right then and there but the voice quickly spoke up startling him.

"That's wonderful! We can set an appointment for next week, is that fine with you Mr. Sanford?"

That's it? Was it really that easy? "Uh yea that's fine, I'm available for next week.", he smiled as he can feel this conversation was coming to an end. "Well Mr. Sanford, we hope to see you next week, we will give you a call the day before your scheduled appointment with our manager. Is there anymore questions sir?", he pondered as he thought real hard but in the end he just wanted to end this phone call. "Uh no, I have no more questions, thank you!", "Well if there is nothing else, we'll see you next week, have a great day!" With that, she ended the call.

That wasn't so bad, he thought as he let out a big sigh that he was holding in, "Alright, I think I'm going to bed now, no more stressing out for today."

Little did Jay know, he signed up for something that will change his life.

Forever.

I reread this and wow, this is bland as shit, but I'm going to leave Chapter 1 like this for the foreseeable future. I will probably change it later on but I'm going to focus on writing Chapter 2. The next chapter will focus more on the factory but we will see.

Give me CRITICISM, I can't be a good writer if people don't scream at me and point out my mistakes so please, criticize me (but not too much).
