A/N: So sorry for such a long delay. I honestly thought I had posted these chapters a long time ago!
Desperate times call for desperate measures. And even the most disciplined people can resort to destruction. While others try to rebuild bridges using more intimate tactics.
Elizabeth heard Monkey barking as she came off the elevator. Ella was passed out on her shoulder, and she was hoping to be able to just put her down when she got her home. She had spent the morning with Drew listening to their now fully finished album.
"Monkey" she said walking in and saw Bart standing there with the place in a mess. "Excuse you. Why are you here?"
"You think that since you are married to my son you can tell me if I can be here or not" Bart said.
"Actually, I can, it's my home" Elizabeth replied.
"Go put Ella down" Chuck said behind her "I've got this"
She nodded then glared at Bart.
"Come on Monkey" Elizabeth said, and Monkey followed her into her room. She put Ella down who was still out. Monkey jumped on the bed and laid down overlooking Ella. "You gonna watch over these two like you do her?"
Monkey looked at her then put his head down.
"I feel ya pup" she said and petted him. She put her hand to her stomach. "What about you two crazy kids, you guys ready for an overbearing watch dog?"
Monkey lifted his head then scooted closer to her and put his head on her belly.
"Already starting" she smiled and petted him.
*Dan and Serena*
"Wow, this is amazing." Dan said
"Really"
"And I'm not just talking about this espresso"
"I wish we could stay like this forever"
"Me too. The only thing missing is fresh air. You think maybe today that we could, uh, actually go outside?"
"Come on, you know that we can't be seen together in public until we're sure this is absoultly real."
"I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure" Dan replied "I can't think of a reason to hold back"
"Well, here's a big one: All of our friends are furious at us. Including your sister who used to be your best friend and biggest cheerleader. If we want to be a couple in the real world. We need to go make amends"
"My sister and I, we have our fights but at the end of the day she is still my sister and I love her dearly. She'll be the easiest to make amends with" he said, "But who else should we start with then?"
"I will start with Blair, and you start with Nate. And then afterward, brunch and a movie on me. I promise"
"Okay" he said
Elizabeth took her headphones out after listening to some stuff from her album when she heard some more voices in the living room and Monkey was at the door begging to be let out. She let him out and walked into the kitchen grabbing the monitor. She heard the elevator ding and walked out to the living room and spotted just Chuck standing there.
"Hey" he said
"Hey" she replied, "Um so did Bart get what he came for?"
"No and I'm sorry you had to walk into that. I'm trying to leave you out of all of this with him. I want to protect you and Ella from him."
"Chuck we're a family. I'm your wife. The mother of your children. Your mess is my mess. Always and forever" she said kissing him.
"I know" he said "I just want to protect you and our children"
"Well while you do that, I am gonna go see my dad" she said "Show him the demo of our new album we have finished"
"Good luck" Chuck replied.
She grabbed Ella and headed out.
*Chuck, Nate and Dan*
Nate sat on the couch
"You're not seriously thinking about taking Ivy's deal? Are you?" Nate asked.
"I may have no choice. I asked Lily for help before. She refused. I even used her granddaughter against her"
"Well maybe if she knew about the twins, she'd change her mind"
"I highly doubt that" Chuck responded, "or else I would have already told her about them."
"Did Liz have any ideas?"
"I didn't exactly tell her about Ivy's deal. I'm trying to protect her" Chuck replied.
"And she's letting you" Nate replied.
"If she wasn't…" Chuck started as Dan walked in.
"Sorry to interrupt" Dan replied.
"What do you want?" Nate asked.
"Elizabeth isn't here" Chuck replied.
"I'm not here to see her" he said "Well I am but I'm also here to see you guys and to apologize. I've done some soul searching."
"That implies you have a soul"
"That's funny coming from you" Dan replied.
"That's hilarious. Who would have thought Chuck Bass turns out to be the good guy and Humphrey the villain?"
"I really wanna turn that around. Especially since we are family now."
"Oh, so now were family?" Chuck asked.
"Well, I'm sorry for not realizing that you make my sister very happy" Dan replied "I'm also sorry for what I wrote about all of you. I'm here to make amends"
Chuck glanced at Nate then looked back at Dan and nodded.
"If you really mean that you just gave me an idea" Chuck replied.
"What?" Nate replied.
"I need you to go to your loft. Elizabeth might be there too she said something about bringing Ella to see Rufus. But I am gonna distract Ivy. Make her think I have a plan to portrayed Lily while Dan is looking for the envelope with the microfilm in it at the loft"
"I'll do it. And if Lizzie is there that will also give me a chance to make amends with her"
"Good" Chuck said then got out his phone.
*Rufus and Lily*
Rufus walked through the park and over to Lily. She had called asking to meet him.
"Make it quick Lily" he replied.
"I know you hate me Rufus" Lily replied. "You made that abundantly clear when you helped Ivy enact her revenge at the auction. But we are connected through Ella so please…"
"Get to the point" he replied.
"Ivy's done something now that goes beyond hurting me. It endangers my family, my children. They used to be your family too."
"What kind of danger are you talking about?"
"Ivy's in possession of some business records. They're simple documents and mean nothing to anyone outside of our family. But they have the power to destroy us. Please find it in your heart to be the bigger person. Get them back for me"
"If you had nothing to hide, then no one could use this evidence against you. Lily, I'm sorry. You reap what you sow." He replied. "I'm not getting involved."
"Even if it involves your daughter?"
"If my children are in trouble, they would come to me. I know that Chuck is doing his best to protect my daughter and their children. This better not have anything to do with hurting them"
Lily looked away and then back to Rufus.
"It could in the long run have an impact on them" she replied.
Rufus looked at her then walked away.
She got to Brooklyn and noticed that no one was home. She went to her old room and saw it just the same except her stuff missing and a crib in the corner and some toys on the floor. She smiled at it and walked in running her hands along the shelves where dust had collected.
She heard the door open, and she walked out with Ella to see Dan.
"Hey brother" she said.
"Hey" he said, "Will you help me find something for Chuck?"
"What? When did you and Chuck go back to be whatever it is that you are? And why don't I know about it?"
"I stopped by to make amends with him and Nate, as well as you but you weren't home. They told me that if I helped with this thing"
"Okay" she replied.
"It's an envelope with the…"
"Bart related item" she said "Sure."
She put Ella in the pack and play that her dad had bought for when Ella was over and put a few toys in there and then helped him. They weren't finding anything when the door opened.
"Dan. Lizzie? What are you doing here?"
"Hey Dad" Elizabeth and Dan replied.
"You two haven't done that since you were 12" Rufus said picking up Ella. "So, what is up?"
"I was just picking up some of my stuff, but Lizzie convinced me that I should stay and talk to you."
"Lizzie?"
"Yeah" she replied "I've been trying to get him too for weeks now but being a Humphrey, he is stubborn, and it took time. I finally won."
"I hurt you and I hurt Lizzie. I jeopardized our relationship which means more to me than anything. I'm here to make amends with you and Ivy"
"I'm happy you want to make amends, son. But I owe you and apology as well. Looks like you were right about Ivy. I was a fool for trusting her. You were both right" he said then looked at Elizabeth. "I…"
"Honey. I'm home" Ivy said coming in.
"I will take that as my cue" Dan said "Lizzie, you coming?"
"I need to collect Ella's things…"
"Let me keep her for the night" her dad said, "Ella is always the best company."
"I think so too" she replied.
"Plus, don't you have an album to finish and I'm sure you and Chuck want some time together before the new baby comes" he said and she nodded. She walked over to her bag and grabbed it then pulled out a CD and handed it to him
"Bye Dad"
He kissed her forehead, and she grabbed Ella's hand.
"Bye baby girl. You're gonna hangout with Grandpa tonight. Have fun." She said then left. "Mommy and Daddy will call you later to say goodnight"
She chased after Dan, and they got in a cab.
"Are you sure leaving Ella there? I'm pretty sure that Dad is about to end it with her and there might be yelling."
"She's fine. She's actually really good at diffusing the situation. Plus, I think she will help Dad kick Ivy out. Which will be the best news ever. I held my tongue and told Dad I supported his choice but on the inside, I was so hoping he would come to his senses which he has so I'm really happy now"
"I've missed you rambling"
"I've missed yours as well" she said then hugged him.
"So how have you been since we last spoke?" Dan said
"Well Ella will be a big sister soon"
"Oh my god! Congratulations Lizzie, I'm so happy for you and Chuck"
"Thank you" she replied
"I'll admit that I wasn't exactly thrilled when I heard you and Chuck got married but I see how happy you are so I'm happy for you" he said, and they arrived in front of her coffee shop.
They walked in.
"I gotta check in with Chuck." He replied.
"I'll grab you a coffee" she said as Dan sat at a table.
*Chuck and Dan*
Dan got out his phone and called Chuck.
"Hey man I did what you asked. I searched the loft with the help of Lizzie and no luck. But we saw Ivy on the way out. I spotted the envelope in her bag"
"Did you get it?"
"No, I couldn't. There was no way. They would've seen me"
"I understand, which is why I have a backup plan. Elizabeth told Blair we would be at her event tonight, so I told Ivy to bring the microfilm there making her think I'm gonna frame Lily."
"Lily's going to Blair's junior line debut?"
"No, but Ivy doesn't know that" Chuck said. "I'd never hurt Lily"
"I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful"
"Thanks for trying Humphrey. The important thing is I got to Ivy before my father did"
"Well, I'd do anything for Lizzie so whatever you guys need done"
"Tell her I'll see her soon"
"Will do" Dan replied and hung up and Elizabeth started walking back toward him.
She grabbed a coffee and walked over to him and handed it to him.
"Chuck said he will see you soon"
"Dan! My man!" Drew said walking over.
"Hey"
"Are you two talking again?"
"Yeah"
"Thank God. I love her I do but she comes to me with every problem and I'm kinda losing my mind."
"Very funny Drew" she said, and Dan laughed.
"I needed a break man" Dan said.
"Neither one of you are funny" she said.
"Well, I'm your actual brother and he is your work brother, so we have to stick together"
"I'll call Scott then and get his opinion. And he's my favorite right now because he actually came to a show, I left tickets for unlike my twin brother who promised and then never showed." she said sticking out her tongue at Dan. In all reality though she missed this. She missed him.
"Fine" he replied.
"Dan" she said. "Can I ask you something serious?"
"What?" he asked, and Drew walked away knowing what she was gonna ask.
"Did you write a chapter on me?" she asked.
"I tried" he said "But I couldn't. You were the only person I couldn't write about even though Georgina tried. She mentioned your pregnancy and you also not wanting to go to school. She mentioned all this stuff about you but when I thought about it. Those are all things that make you who you are and why I love you. It's the same reason Cassandra is the only one that could tolerate Dylan in Inside."
She felt a tear escape and wiped it.
"Don't cry" he said.
"Hormonal" she said. "Sorry"
"I gotta go" he said. "I'll text you later. I want every photo you have taken of my niece since the beginning of summer"
"Sounds good" she said, and he left. She smiled to herself. She got her brother back. For real and she couldn't be happier.
Later that night she arrived at Blair's pop up.
"Thank god you're here" Blair said grabbing her. "I just saw Chuck, but he had to leave. Told me to tell you he'd see you at home"
"Okay" she replied.
"You can help keep the Dons away from Nelly"
"Dons?" she asked "Like as in the mob? Do you have mob princess shopping here? I mean they would have…"
"The Queens are now Dons" she replied
"Because the Mob is better?"
"Something like that?" she replied as someone came over with champagne. Blair grabbed one and handed it to her.
"I'm good?"
"I know you're Brooklyn and all but come on you like champagne, and you're married to Chuck"
"I'm pregnant"
"What!" Blair replied and hugged her "Congratulations!"
"Thank you"
"Now go distract Dons from Nelly" Blair said pushing her.
"Love you too!" she shouted.
She walked away and saw the girls fighting over the dresses.
"Hey" Serena said.
"Hey" she replied
"How's it going?"
"I'm supposed to be distracting Dons from Nelly but the girls seem to be fighting over the clothes"
"That's good" Serena replied.
"Yeah, I actually need to go check in with Chuck. I'm also not a huge party person and well it only increases when I'm pregnant so…"
"Oh my god!" Serena said hugging her. "Congratulations Lizzie!"
"Thank you" she smiled. "Chuck and I are excited"
"I bet, he loves you and Ella to pieces so I'm sure he is thrilled"
"So thrilled" Elizabeth replied "But I am gonna go"
She got to the Empire and spotted Chuck and Nate at the bar. Chuck walked over.
"I gotta go, help him up to his room please" he asked, and she nodded then kissed him. He darted out and she walked over to Nate.
"Hey what happened?"
"Bart bought my loan on the paper and is using it against me"
"If you needed help with the paper, why didn't you tell Chuck or I?"
"I didn't want to intrude"
"Nate you are not intruding" she replied "Come on let's get you to bed"
She helped him up and into his room. An hour had passed, and she hadn't heard from Chuck yet and headed back down to the lobby when she saw him sitting at the bar. She walked over and sat down.
"Hey" he said.
"What happened?"
"The only parent who ever loved me…the mother who chose me as a son…abandoned me." He replied and looked at her. "I finally had the evidence to vanquish my father and she destroyed it to protect him"
She grabbed his hand in hers and kissed it.
"I love you and if it means fighting Bart by your side. I will do it."
"Thank you" he said "I don't deserve you"
"You don't" she laughed
"Where is Ella tonight?"
"My dad" she replied. "He learned that Ivy was using him and wanted the smiley face she has"
"I needed a dose of that myself" he replied.
"Well, I'm sure we can go get her"
"Let her rest. I have an idea for us though. I just want to get out of here for a night." he replied. They got up went to Coney Island and sat on the beach.
Sometimes the light is so dazzling it's all you can see. Other times, dark clouds devour you, and it seems the skies will never clear._ But when the sun beams while the rain falls, it can bring a bittersweet rainbow. So watch out. Just when you think you're dancing off into the sunset, a lightning bolt may strike you down.
