Pokémon: Sinnoh no Isekai
Chapter Two-hundred and fifty-one: Wedding bells in Oreburgh City
Dawn and the other reborn trainers made it back to their home region of Sinnoh, rested the night in Twinleaf Town, then the following morning they flew their dragons right on over to Oreburgh City, landing in front of the local Pokémon Center. Such an entrance made it known that they had arrived, and many who saw them fly on in flocked to see them, although Kenny taking initiative asked that the people keep a respectable distance. "And if any of you all here are taking part in the current season of the World Coronation Series," Kenny began, "I'm going to say it in advance that Dawn, Trip, and I can't take any challenges today."
"Kenny has a point," Trip spoke up as he stepped forward, "We're here in Oreburgh City for a special event happening today, and as such we can't divert to do anything else."
Some of the people in the crowd gave moans of complaint, with one girl even asking, "What is it that you guys are putting off battle for?"
Dawn was about to speak up, but she stopped short when she heard the familiar voice of Roark call out, "Hey Dawn! Kenny! Trip! Mina! Glad that you guys were all able to make it!" The reborn trainers, as well as everyone else present, turned to see it as Roark, the local gym leader in Oreburgh city, came running up to the scene.
Pointing at Roark, the same girl who complained before said, "Hey, You're Roark! The leader of the gym here in Oreburgh City! Aren't you also taking part in the World Coronation Series?"
"I am, but I by no means can battle today," Roark replied.
Nodding in the affirmative, Dawn said, "That's right, folks. Today is Roark's wedding believe it or not. Me and my group were invited to attend the event and see it as Roark and his soon to be wife get married."
Right away, the other persons in the crowd all gave understanding responses, some even wished Roark the best of luck, and then the crowd dissapated. Turning to look at Dawn and the others, Roark said, "Thanks for being able to make it, you guys."
"Well why wouldn't we come to a shindig as cool as a wedding?" Kenny replied, "Not to mention how we got it Ash and Brock are also attending as guests. It'll be like old times, when the two of them plus Dawn and I were going through the Sinnoh region."
"Technically you weren't picked up until around Floaroma Town," Dawn pointed out to her friend.
Roark could help but chuckle. "Yeah, it's great to see you all again too. Oh, speaking of Ash and Brock, they're already here, as is that Goh fellow who came along with Ash."
"Well let's hope Ash's new friend can get along with his old ones," Mina said as she and the other reborn trainers followed Roark to the Oreburgh City gym.
When the reborn trainers and Roark stepped foot into the front lobby of the Oreburgh City gym, they were greeted by Byron, the Canaclave City gym leader and Roark's dad, coming right up to them. Byron, in a stark contrast to how he usually dressed, was gussied up in a good looking tux. He was even looking neat and orderly and even notably clean. "I can't believe it!" Byron said as tears streamed down from his eye as he threw his arms around Roark to hug him, "My boy's getting married!"
"I'm... glad to see you're happy for me, dad," Roark said.
"Oh, we need to get you dressed up in your tux," Byron said, "You'll be knocking 'em dead with how good you're gonna look! Your soon-to-be wife is especially going to love how you'll look, I guarantee it!"
Dawn gave an amused smirk. "Yeah, I bet Maylene is going to love today as well."
"Given how much I'm shelling out, I hope so," Byron said, a hint of worried embarrassment in his eyes. The reborn trainers remembered that Byron was covering the costs for a lot at the wedding as he's essentially being blackmailed, but that business is a story in and of itself. It's also business of an unpleasant sort, and everyone was wanting to avoid all of that for today as Roark and Maylene are going to be tying the knot.
Byron then took Roark to get him dressed for the wedding. After the father and son pair were gone, the reborn trainers were left alone in the lobby of the Oreburgh City gym. "So... what?" Kenny said, "Do we go find the other wedding guests, or-"
"Dawn! Kenny! Trip! Mina!"
The reborn trainers stopped short when they heard the familiar voice of Maylene and, turning around to look, they saw Maylene peeking out from behind a door, her right hand sticking out to beckon them towards her. The reborn trainers all made their way over to Maylene and went into the room she was in. Just as she was the last time the reborn trainers saw her, Maylene was undeniably very well fed, her notable obesity a result of dropping her training but not her eating habits. She also still had her pink hair combed and brushed straight, no longer sticking up in curves like it used to, and she still wore her glasses, having dropped her use of contact lenses quite a bit of time ago.
"Maylene, it's great to see you again," Dawn said, "I'm guessing you're nervous."
"Why wouldn't I be?" replied Maylene, "I'm about to marry the guy I fell in love with!" Sighing, Maylene said, "What's worse is that I'm worried something may crop up to ruin today."
Folding her arms over her chest, Dawn replied, "Well I made sure Paul wouldn't be anywhere near Oreburgh City today. I can even confirm he won't be back in Sinnoh until at least a week after you and Roark are expected back from your honeymoon." Knowing that Maylene still by no means is fond of Paul, Dawn figured that Maylene is worried that the former jerkwad may pop up.
Letting out a troubled sigh, Maylene said, "That is reassuring, yes. But there's also the fact that Roark, as well as his dad and a number of the guests invited to the wedding, are all entered into the World Coronation Series. I'm afraid a challenger may try and challenge Roark or one of the competing guests to a battle, which by no means ought to happen today as it'd disrupt the festivities today."
"Yeah, some folks were interested in challenging the lads and I when we showed up in Oreburgh City," Kenny said, "But when we explained to them why we couldn't battle today, they all understood and left us be. Sure, there may be some jerks out there, but the people here in Oreburgh Ci-"
"Goh, what makes you think that the wedding feast not only is in this room, but has been set up yet?" the familiar voice of Ash called out from outside the room that the reborn trainers and Maylene are in.
"I hear people talking in the room," the voice of Goh remarked, "And where there's people, there's food!"
"You know, it's usually Ash who is eager to eat," the familiar voice of Brock said, "So to see him hold back while scolding someone else for thinking with their stomach is actually rather surprising." The door into the room then opened, and Ash walked in with Goh and Brock, although they all stopped short when they saw the reborn trainers and Maylene. "Oh, it's Dawn, Kenny, Trip, and two girls I'm not familiar with," Brock said.
"That one girl is Kenny's girlfriend Mina," Ash explained to Brock, "I told you about her." To the reborn trainers, Ash said, "It's great seeing you guys again! Are you guys looking forward to seeing Roark and Maylene tie the knot?"
Dawn gave an amused hum of a chuckle. "Yes, we're excited for Roark and Maylene too, Ash. It's also great to see you and Brock again, as well as your new friend Goh."
Pointing at Maylene, Goh said, "Maybe this lady there knows where the wedding buffet is."
"It... hasn't been set up yet," Maylene replied.
Ash, looking similarly as curious about Maylene as Brock and Goh were, said, "I'm guessing you're a friend of Roark's and or Maylene's and you're here for the wedding?"
"Ash, that's Maylene herself," Kenny said while pointing at Maylene.
Right away, Ash and Brock had looks of shocked surprise on their faces as Maylene, who they met while they traveled through Sinnoh a while ago, was introduced to them again. "Maylene?!" Ash and Brock exclaimed in surprise.
"Heh heh, yeah I know," Maylene replied, "I've put on some weight since I last saw you guys."
"I... guess the prospect of getting married has you nervous to the point you're stress eating?" Brock asked.
Gently shaking her head, Maylene replied, "Actually no. I've always had a monstrously huge appetite, but a mix of working out a lot while I was a gym leader and loads of mental discipline held it back. But now..." Holding her plush, jiggly arms out at her sides, Maylene went on, "...Now I have a different life. I actually have a job at the local game store here in Oreburgh City."
"Wait, I thought you worked at a clothing store or something," Kenny said.
"I resigned from the clothing store job after submitting and working out my two weeks notice after I got hired to the game store," Maylene explained, "Given that I've found something of a new calling playing this one trading card game called Arcane the Collective, it works out well."
Gesturing to Maylene, Brock asked, "Did your boss at work give you time off for your wedding?"
"Time off for my honeymoon too," Maylene answered, "Although he did ask me to bring in photos from the wedding to show him and the rest of the store staff when I got back. He's the kind of boss who likes seeing photos from weddings and photos taken of newborn kids."
"Sounds like a guy who's easy to get along with," Kenny remarked, "I bet that-"
"Hey, Kenny! You in there?" Byron's voice called out, "Someone came here looking for you!"
Everyone stopped short when they heard Byron announce that someone's here looking for Kenny. "...Is Roark out there with you?" Kenny called back, "I mean, me and a few of the lads are talking to Maylene in here, and I'm pretty sure the groom ain't supposed to see the bride until the actual wedding!"
"Roark is being fussed over by my wife slash his mom," Byron called back, "There's no risk!" Curious, everyone decided to head on out of the room to see who it was that came to the Oreburgh Gym looking for Kenny.
...
Upon stepping out of the room, Dawn and the others saw that Byron was accompanied by two people. The first one was someone Dawn, Kenny, Trip, and Ash recognized as Rimu, the Champion-ranked trainer from the Paldea region. He was dressed the same as he was the last time they saw him, although his blue beanie had been replaced with a multi-colored striped one.
The person with Rimu was a girl with fair skin, and hair that was red in the front but light blue in the back. she wore a dark gray baggy hoodie with a Pokéball design on it and some weird blocky yellow wording over the Pokéball design. She wore light grey stockings with red and blue 'X's spread around on them, and over them was a pair of dark grey modesty shorts, and over that was a skirt that was sort of see through. The girl also wore dark colored boots with light grey toe ends, and over her back she had a backpack made to resemble a Gigantimax Eevee.
"You're that Champion trainer from the Paldea region!" Kenny said.
Rimu nodded once in the affirmative. "I'm glad that you remember me, Kenny."
Pointing at the girl with Rimu, Trip asked, "And is this a friend of yours?"
Gesturing to herself, the girl with Rimu explained, "My name is Penny, and I go to school in Paldea with Rimu. I..." The now identified Penny stopped short, smiled small but sincerely as she blushed a bit. "...I'm also Rimu's girlfriend."
"Oh ho ho, so Rimu found love, mmm?" Kenny said in an amused tone, "But I'm with my own girlfriend Mina here, so I ain't gonna josh around with Rimu."
"Why are you looking for Kenny in the first place, Rimu?" Dawn asked.
Gesturing to himself, Rimu said, "I'm not sure if you're aware, but I'm entered into the current season of the World Coronation Series. I was planning to ask Kenny if he'd be up to accepting a challenge from me tomorrow."
"You want to battle him tomorrow?" Maylene asked, looking mildly surprised.
Rimu nodded once in the affirmative. "I was originally planning to challenge him today, but I got it that he's attending a wedding as a guest, and as such I adjusted my plan to challenge him to let him wish the happy couple to be the best without interference."
Kenny chuckled a bit in sincere amusement. "That's rather considerate of you, Rimu. And yeah, I will be more than happy to accept your challenge tomorrow, especially as I'm kind of wanting to see more of what Pokémon from the Paldea region have to offer."
"He's not the only one," Trip said, with Dawn nodding in agreement; the reborn trainers have very little info on stuff past Galar, with virtually all that they know having come from Rimu himself, mostly when he battled Iris back in Kalos and beat her. The reborn trainers will be more than interested in watching battles that Rimu takes part in, especially if it leads to seeing a Pokémon they've never seen before take part in said battle.
Maylene smiled appreciatively at Rimu. "Thanks for being so considerate, Mr. Rimu. Oh, I'm Maylene, and I'm the girl who's getting married today."
Rimu gave Maylene a quick look before giving a single nod. "A cute girl who looks smart. Your soon to be husband chose well."
Smirking a bit, Penny explained to the others, "Rimu prefers girls who not only look cute in his opinion but are also smart much like Rimu himself. It's part of why I was able to get him to agree to be my boyfriend after I confessed to him, I'm one of the top students at our school. The girl he was crushing on before... things happened... was also cute as far as Rimu was concerned and also a top scoring student like us."
"Things happened?" Kenny asked, "What do-"
"It would ruin the mood of today if discussed," Rimu interrupted, looking and sounding like he wanted the subject dropped. When things settled down, Rimu said, "Well anyway, when would be a good time for you and I to battle tomorrow, Kenny?"
Shrugging, Kenny replied, "Sometime shortly after eight in the morning tomorrow. I'll ask Roark if we can use his gym to have our battle at."
"Roark is the local gym leader here in Oreburgh City," Maylene explained to Rimu and Penny, "As well as the man who I am getting married to today."
Rimu nodded once in understanding. "Sounds fair. He sounds like a man of culture."
With things settled well enough, the heroes and their friends were able to resume getting ready for the wedding. Maylene even offered Rimu and Penny to come to the wedding as guests if they wanted, after she asked Byron to see if Roark was okay with it first, which Byron did and Roark was indeed okay with it. Byron also said that his son was interested in seeing what kind of Pokémon a trainer from the Paldea region had. It was sounding like the battle between Kenny and Rimu was going to have a bit of an audience.
Sometime later that day, the wedding itself actually happened. Everyone saw it as Maylene was walked down the aisle by a gym referee, although given her considerable girth Maylene was more waddling than walking. Regardless, she reached the alter where Roark waited, the priest did his part, and as no-one objected, the priest was able to wed Roark and Maylene, officially making them husband and wife. Everyone stood up and applauded the happy couple, with Byron even whistling in celebration for his son and now daughter-in-law.
After that was a wedding dance, where everyone was able to dance although Roark and Maylene had the first dance. Their dance ended relatively early, Maylene citing that her knees and ankles were getting sore and she was also a tad winded. After everyone else was able to dance, the wedding feast was held. This was the moment that Goh, as well as Maylene obviously, was excited for. Everyone ate their fill, and when it was time for the wedding cake everyone cheered and applauded when Roark and Maylene made the first slice into the cake together.
The wedding of Roark and Maylene was a simple, straightforward affair, very traditional and by the book. Nothing had gone wrong, and everyone had a great time. The following morning, however, was another event that had a number of people excited. Roark and Maylene would be leaving for their honeymoon, which would be at the resort along the beach between Pastoria City and Sunyshore City. But they wouldn't be leaving until later in the afternoon. The morning would give the newlywed couple a very interesting show, courtesy of Kenny and Rimu.
...
Having gotten permission from Roark beforehand, Kenny and Rimu used the stadium in the Oreburgh City gym to have an official battle for the World Coronation Series. When everyone saw the current placements of the two trainers, it was noted that both were still Normal class trainers, although Rimu was closer to reaching the Great Class than Kenny. By Dawn's estimation, Rimu if he won would be a few points shy from breaking into the Great Class, but if Rimu lost then the points he'd lose and the points Kenny would gain would make them about neck in neck.
The battle would see Kenny and Rimu use two Pokémon each, and it wasn't just Kenny hoping to see Rimu use a new Pokémon. Both boys, as per the rules of the World Coronation Series, sent their respective first Pokémon out at the same time, and it saw Kenny's Tyranitar Godzilla versus Rimu's Clodsire, who the reborn trainers had seen before when Rimu fought and defeated Iris back in the Kalos region. With both trainers having their first Pokémon each out and ready for battle, the battle itself was able to be kicked off at last.
"Godzilla, use Rock Slide!" Kenny called out.
"Clodsire, use Toxic!" Rimu commanded.
The named Tyranitar was able to get off his Rock Slide, but Clodsire was able to tank through it and get off Toxic, the aim pinpoint accurate as Clodsire's poison typing ensured that Toxic would land. Kenny's named Tyranitar was now toxic poisoned, but he wasn't hit with an attacking move. "Alright, let's kick it up a notch," Kenny said, "Godzilla, use Earthquake!"
"Clodsire, use Earthquake as well!" Rimu commanded.
The two Pokémon threw their Earthquakes at one another, violently shaking the battlefield with seismic waves. Both Godzilla and Clodsire were hit hard, but Godzilla was able to tough it out better. He was hurt by his toxic poisoning afterwards, but Kenny could tell that Godzilla was still in it. Punching forward in the air, Kenny called out, "Godzilla, use Earthquake again!"
"Clodsire, use Earthquake again as well!" Rimu commanded.
The two Pokémon attacked, but Godzilla was quicker, and not only got his Earthquake off before Clodsire got its Earthquake off, but Clodsire was hit hard enough to get knocked out by Godzilla's attack as a result. "Clodsire is defeated!" the Rotom drone monitoring the battle announced, "Tyranitar is the winner!"
"Woot!" Kenny cheered, "Score one for the boys at home!"
Rimu nodded once in understanding before recalling his fainted Clodsire. Taking out the Pokéball that held his next Pokémon for the battle, Rimu tossed it up while calling out, "Go, Meowscarada!"
To the surprised wonder of the audience, the reborn trainers especially so, Rimu's second Pokémon was a new one they hadn't seen before, one that is apparently called Meowscarada. A humanoid feline Pokémon that had mostly light green fur, aside from on its dark green legs, and it also had a short fluffy tail of the same light green color. Its fur was notably long along its ears, thighs, and arms with the fur on its arms resembling poofy ended sleeves at the wrists. Pink eyes with a pink nose, and there was a four-pointed mask-like shape over the upper half of its face, with three green diamond shapes on the mask, one over the forehead and one over each eye.
Meowscarada's hands had three fingers each, each finger tipped with a dark green claw, and its hand palms were pink paw bean pads. Around Meowscarada's neck was a pink collar resembling a flower, and flowing from the collar was a cape of sorts, black on gthe outer side and green on the inner side. The cape was split in two at the base, and each end resembled fleur-de-lis shapes. There was also a small pod floating behind Meowscarada, dark green on the bottom and light green on the top, with a pink flower coming out from the top of the flower. Many who were watching the battle were amazed by the sight of Rimu's Meowscarada.
Kenny most of all as he was getting to battle it. "Well alright, now it's a party!" Kenny said, "Godzilla, use Earthquake!"
"Meowscarada, use Flower Trick!" Rimu called out.
As Godzilla began trying to use Earthquake, Meowscarada rushed forward and dropped a plant on top of the named Tyranitar, which blew up on impact and struck Godzilla hard enough to knock him out before he could hit Meowscarada. "Tyranitar is defeated!" the Rotom Drone announced, "Meowscarada is the winner!"
Kenny, as he recalled his fainted Tyranitar, said, "Meowscarada must be a grass type, given it used an attack with the word 'Flower' in it which implies grass typing."
Rimu nodded in the affirmative. "Yes. Meowscarada is dual grass dark type."
"Dual grass dark, you say!" Kenny said, "Well I have the perfect cringe posse member in mind to avenge Godzilla!" Tossing up a Pokéball, Kenny called out, "Okay, Cell! Let's make it cringe!" Kenny's second Pokémon for the battle was Cell, his named shiny Scizor. Rimu, recognizing that Kenny is using a quality bug type Pokémon, had a look of knowing bemusement on his face. Gesturing forward by punching the air, Kenny called out, "Cell, use X-Scissor!"
"Meowscarada, use Knock Off!" Rimu called out.
The two Pokémon rushed one another, and Meowscarada with its superior speed was able to outrun Cell and hit him with Knock Off. But Cell was able to endure, surprising as Meowscarada's Knock Off had been able to strike the named shiny Scizor on the abdomen, and landed his X-Scissor attack right into Meowscarada's stomach, making it cough out a bit before it was thrown back and hit the battlefield. When the bit of dust kicked up settled down, everyone saw that Meowscarada had been knocked out. "Meowscarada is defeated!" the Rotom Drone announced, "Scizor wins! Contestant Kenny is the winner of this battle!"
Everyone cheered for the end of the battle and the amazing efforts of both trainers, although Penny looked annoyed to see people celebrating her boyfriend losing. Due to Kenny's win, his ranking went up while Rimu's went down a bit; the two of them were now closer to one another in ranking, although Rimu still had a few points more than what Kenny had. Rimu, despite losing, still gave an amused smirk as he slowly applauded Kenny for winning their battle.
After the battle, Roark and Maylene left on their honeymoon, going a tad early as they were advised by Roark's mom who said there would be traffic to worry about. After the newlywed couple were off, the reborn trainers, as well as Ash, Brock, and Goh, met up with Rimu and Penny. "We saw you use Clodsire before, back in Kalos when you had that battle with Iris before the Champion's Favor Showcase," Dawn said to Rimu, "But that Meowscarada fellow is new to us."
"Meowscarada is the fully evolved form of Sprigatito, one of the Pokémon offered as starters to new trainers in Paldea," Rimu explained.
Looking curious, Kenny said, "Wait, I thought you got the fire type starter."
Nodding once, Rimu said, "Yes, Skeledirge is my first Pokémon, who I got as a Fuecoco. But I also got a Sprigatito from an old friend of my family's over in Paldea. I also got a Quaxly, and he's fully evolved."
"How did you get a Quaxly?" Trip asked.
Rimu looked a bit somber, recollecting something that didn't exactly make him feel good. "...I don't exactly wanna talk about how I got a Quaxly."
"Well maybe I can see your fully evolved Quaxly later if we have another battle," Kenny said, "What say you, Rimu?"
The Champion-ranked trainer from the Paldea region perked up a bit at that. "...We'll see how things play out if we met again in the Great Class. You better keep battling to raise your rank, Kenny."
Smirking in amusement, Kenny said, "Oh, I am going to be cringing up a storm in the World Coronation Series! Everyone better look out, for the world is my friend! And I'm going to be visiting places all over my friend!"
"You... could have worded that better," Trip said dryly as some of the others laughed off Kenny being himself. Things had been settled well enough, so Rimu and Penny took off. This left the reborn trainers alone with Ash, Brock, and Goh. Turning to look at Ash, Brock, and Goh, Trip asked, "So where are all of you guys heading off to, now that the wedding's done, Roark and Maylene are off on their honeymoon, and we just saw an interesting battle?"
Gesturing to himself, Brock said, "I need to head on back to Pewter City. I still have some studying to do for my goal of becoming a Pokémon Doctor."
"Goh and I are gonna head back to the Cerise Laboratory in Vermilion City," Ash explained, "I'm going to do some training to help better prep for what all the World Coronation Series could throw at me."
"Oh, that's the lab in Kanto where my Pokémon are kept when I don't have them on hand," Mina said, "If you see an evolved form of Eevee that's shiny at the lab over there, chances are it's mine."
Goh, with a bemused look, said, "Would you happen to be the owner of a shiny Vaporeon who likes to steal sandwiches from people? Because there's a shiny Vaporeon at the lab there, and it's stolen no less than half a dozen sandwiches from me!"
Chuckling in amusement, Mina said, "Heh heh. Yeah, that sounds like my Vaporeon alright."
With a look of wonder on his face, Ash said, "I actually saw a few evolved shiny Eevees over there, and aside from Vaporeon stealing sandwiches from Goh, none of them had ever interacted with Goh unless he confronts them. They do seem fond of Chloe though. There was one time the shiny Vaporeon stole a sandwich from Goh but brought it right to Chloe and dropped it into her lap and looked up at her expecting praise and maybe being petted on the head."
Mina chuckled in amusement. "Yeah, my shiny Eeveeloutions can be rather big sweeties."
"No they aren't," Goh said dryly, "Vaporeon always stealing my sandwiches aside, there's a shiny Leafeon who always knocks over drinks I have, and there's also a shiny Flareon who has a habit of stealing my blanket from off my bed, while I'm asleep no less, and makes off with it to use as bedding for itself! And don't you even get me started on the shiny Umbreon! Those evolved shiny Eevees all hate me!"
Laughing off Goh's frustrations a bit, Dawn said, "Oh relax, Goh. I'm sure that you're just blowing things out of proportion here."
Goh, with the driest of looks, said in a likewise tone, "The shiny Umbreon used one of my shirts as a toilet pad."
"Hmm, hmm," Mina said, "It sounds to me as if you most likely had done something to anger my shiny Eeveeloutions. I'd hate to see how Scar will react to you if you and him ever met."
"Scar?" Ash said in a curious tone.
"Mina's Eevee who is her first ever Pokémon," Kenny explained, "Scar isn't shiny, and he's got a scar over one of his eyes with the eye in question always being closed."
Clapping his hands together, Ash said to the reborn trainers, "Maybe you guys ought to come with us to Vermilion City, figure out why Mina's evolved shiny Eevees all seemingly have it our for Goh."
"That does sound like it'd make for a good trip," Dawn remarked.
Pointing in a random direction, Kenny said, "Set a course for adventure!" And so, the reborn trainers' time in Sinnoh came to an end, but they had a trip to Kanto to look forward to. There, they with Ash and Goh will visit the Cerise Labratory, where Mina's other Pokémon are kept, and figure out why her shiny Eeveeloutions seem to have a rather strong dislike for Goh.
END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the long awaited wedding of Roark and Maylene. Nothing goes wrong, and the ceremony and after party is perfect. The heroes are even surprised with a visit from Rimu, the Champion-ranked trainer from Paldea. Rimu, along with Penny who is Rimu's girlfriend here, came to find Kenny so Rimu could challenge him to a battle for the World Coronation Series the day after the wedding (Rimu is not so boorish that he'd interrupt a wedding day). The battle is held the day after the wedding and Kenny wins, although Rimu using a Meowscarada which the heroes are totally unfamiliar with takes them by surprise.
Then there are plans discussed, such as Kenny having another battle in the future with Rimu (they'll have one in the Great Class, and maybe another in the Ultra Class). There is also how it's revealed that Cerise Labratory is where Mina's Pokémon she doesn't have on hand are kept, and it seems her shiny Eeveeloutions all have a grudge against Goh for one reason or another. Although Brock is returning to Pewter City, Ash and Goh are able to bring the reborn trainers with them to Vermilion City to look into why Mina's shiny Eeveeloutions apparently wanna screw with Goh. Until then, take care.
